its a sad this that this arshavin is no more :(
what happened to him?

Believable20 Unbelievable1

Is he on twitter? We should link him some highlights videos and try and give him his mojo back.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has probably been reading the banter page

Yeah, this is the same game where Arshavin was NO WHERE TO BE SEEN until this volley. Remember that? ooooohhhh that's right.

Agree0 Disagree0

^ well its better not not be seen then come up with such a beautiful goal than not being seen throughout the whole game and not do anything special which is what hes doing now
another example of what arshavin used to be is his 4 goals against liverpool

Everybody remember when Jenkinson scored that own goal? If you thought that was unlucky, then check this out. Best own goal ever scored Sun Hei Vs Citizen Hong Kong.

what about the possibility of signing shaqiri from basle 12-18m, more than able cover for gerviniho, then when he returns move shaqiri into the middle of the park, for back-up striker id have to look at huntellar, schalke need the money, him and van persie would be quality, rotate them so they both stay fresh, both can score, link up well, would be ideal i think again 12-18m, finally the left back, HAS to be vertoghen, gerviniho is a forward, not someone who tracks back to much for me, so a solid no nonsense character is what we need, three signings to complement the team, giving us a decent bench....
thoughts please

N. Wales Gunner {Ed002's Note - If Shaqiri were to be available now then there would be plenty of interest including at least Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Hamburg, Leverkusen, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool. I am also sure if he were to become available then Arsenal would also be interested, but it is tough to see him leaving a team he has been with since he was a young child during their Champions League run. Perhaps the summer is a better option.}

All over the papers today that Man U are going for him. Surprise surprise, never saw that one coming! It's almost as though they're just trying to glean credibility from their CL exit.

Have to disagree with vertonghen, especially if gervinho is left winger. as a right-footed, gervinho will cut inside, meaning that a left back must make a run forward to provide width. a midfielder like song or a center back can cover if needed but gervinho has actually defended also

Agree0 Disagree0

Dunno why you have made such a long list of 'clubs interested'. for example, 'both manchester clubs'. Why both ? Do manchester city actually need to buy someone ? or are they interested, simply because they have money to spend at anytime, and therefore any player that is available, registers their interest. Might seem like a picky thing to say, but im tired of this fabrication of teams always interested in players when most of the time, they have never said a word.

Daniel {Ed002's Note - I am not fabricating anything. Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Hamburg and Leverkusen have all enquired after the player very recently. Previously Manchester City have enquired and I have no doubt that both Manchester United and Liverpool will look to him if he becomes available.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I would much rather get Fabian Frei from Basel, and for a lot less money...

Agree0 Disagree0

One thing unique about Gervinho is how willing he was to track back and defend upon his arrival. Usually attacking players take time to adjust to that type of football, but he came to work his socks off....

To replace him, we need to get a guy who gets that. All 11 defend and we hunt in packs. Our defense and ability to break up attacks is what has seen us go on this run the last couple months.

was just wondering if arsenal fail to get gotze, what would you guys think of the possibilty of thiago? Ed any chance arsenal could get him? and say arsenal could get gotze in the summer... would barca accept short term loan bid for him? just asking if you think its possible
Waq {Ed002's Note - I think it unlikely - certainly a loan to Arsenal would not be a viable option as it would not give hime meaningful experience.}

Believable1 Unbelievable15

Thaigo alcantral would probably get more games at barca...

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed said that we are still in for MMM/ dzagoev

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed002. I normally fully agree with your comments, however, on this one I'm not so sure. Fabregas has not gone back a 'worse' player for playing in the premiership. I think it brings a work rate that is lacking in many leagues. So it could be very valuable. Saying that... I agree that I don't see it happening.

Kermit79 {Ed002's Note - I hardly think a six month loan can be compared to the 8 years Fabregas spent at Arsenal.}

Agree0 Disagree0

No, agreed. But still a wake up call none the less, to introduce a player to a new style. Don't think it would do any harm (apart from the obligitory Arsenal leg break!)

Agree0 Disagree0

Id rather train alongside the barcelona players and not play a match, than train and play with the arsenal players - at this moment in time!
