hey guys got some great news arsenal have finalised a deal with mathias surez on a 5 year contract. the fee is 13.8mil. you heard it first.
thomastank

Believable15 Unbelievable34

Sorry to break it to you, but the deal broke down weeks ago due to work permit issues.

Ben X.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently liverpool want im. but i dont tink e will et a work permit

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you a reporter of Talk s**te??
gimmeg6

Agree0 Disagree0

Edd can you update us the m.suarez situation will he get a work permit? will he go to liverpool. suarez and suarez hmm {Ed002's Note - Liverpool along with Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Newscastle, Lazio and Juventus have shown an interest in Matias Suarez. I am not convinced they will have any players called Suarez there next season.}

The lequipe (very reliable)are reporting we are after Hatem Ben Arfa, the fee apparently around 21m Euros.

Believable15 Unbelievable44

Yet We Wouldn't pay That For Mata Who Is Alot Better :s

Agree0 Disagree0

We are not after ben arfa, we are linked merely because we have a french manager and because we need to buy a creative midfielder. Same with marvin martin - we never wanted him..the media just suggested we did because, again..hes french, and hes creative. Gourcuff? same routine...

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a bad player however he isn't worth it and we don't need him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very much doubt it with Walcott, the Ox, gervinho, podolski all can play either side he wouldn't get first team at Chelsea and he would be used in rotation at us. Player who has never really done it for me impressed some times last season but from his Lyon days he was rated up there as a future world class star then injuries and poor games led to marsielle move. He would suit Liverpool more than any other prem club.
DD arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's say Walcott wasn't going to sign a new deal. Surely then someone like Ben Arfa would be an ideal replacement.

Paul - Rochester

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he suit Liverpool they are consideably inferior to Newcastle?
Got to remember he has only produced for the toon in certain games usually against poor opposition ie Stoke Bolton Blackburn.Just think he is too much a risk at the price he will cost .

Arsenal target Marvin Martin has signed a five year deal with Lille, who used the money they made from the Hazard sale.

Believable37 Unbelievable9

Who cares, we were never in for him, just media bs, no better than what we have, personally glad we haven't got him

Agree0 Disagree0

Same as guy above ^ im really glad we didnt buy him.
Hopefully gourcuff ends up with squillachi, and the giroud deal falls through so that we spend more money on better quality.

Last summer people were screaming for benzema to be purchased - now we have settled for his understudy..

Agree0 Disagree0

I dunno about that mate, I scored a couplde of sick goals with him today on fifa12 against Spain :P

we need to move for a left back who knows how defend! gibbs and santos are not good enough in my opinion, any left backs being linked with arsenal ed?
cheers {Ed002's Note - None I can think of - but Wayne Bridge is available.}

Believable12 Unbelievable38

Gibbs is immense, he has pace and puts in great one on one tackles in. As for Santos he still is learning, i know your going to say he's nearly 30 odd but this is only his first season in the best league in the world considering he's played in league where the standard of football is poor to say the least

Agree0 Disagree0

Either radu or abdennour for me

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabio Coentrao is a very good left back

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs is absolutely horrendous, his positional play is horrendous and causes us to concede so may goals and isn't that good going forward and santos is even worse defensively but at least he offers something going forward

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree. Wenger puts his faith largely where it is justified. Van Persie, Henry, The Pole between the Poles, Cole.... Even Diaby if fit would be World Class in my opinion (al la Persie). Gibbs is quality and Santos offers the ability to break down teams from the wing. With 2 CDMs he will be a real asset and in my opinion a RB version as a No.2 to Sagna if we buy M'Vila could give us a real plan C!

Hackney Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

"Gibbs is absolutely horrendous, his positional play is horrendous and causes us to concede so may goals and isn't that good going forward and santos is even worse defensively but at least he offers something going forward"

Ignorant moron.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wayne bridge ha if we signed him I'd be on my way to hurl myself off the nearest bridge. Couldn't get games at SUNDERLAND never mind us. Rather stick fabianski at left back than bridge

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs is good but lacks vital concentration and santos is a bit too eager but we need anotherone who is just as good as glichy was like baines for example

Agree0 Disagree0

I happen to agree with the poster who just got called an "ignorant moron". Gibbs' positional sense IS woeful. He ISN'T very good going forward and his all round play just isn't good enough. If it was, we wouldn't have conceded so many goals through Vermaelen trying to cover two positions simultaneously every time Gibbs was posted missing (yet again). Santos offers more going forward, but he's suspect defensively. Even so, he's still better than Gibbs.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Gibbs is absolutely horrendous, his positional play is horrendous and causes us to concede so may goals and isn't that good going forward and santos is even worse defensively but at least he offers something going forward"

Clearly a plastic fan. Obviously you didn't see Ashley Cole's performances during his first three years in the first team.

Lyon have put Arsenal target Yoann Gourcuff up for sale

Could be got for £10-12m

Believable40 Unbelievable27

No thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

No thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

No thanks also

Agree0 Disagree0

Not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Am not a big fan but its better than nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he too much like Arteta

Agree0 Disagree0

Better than nothing , so you would spend 10-12 mill on a player thats not good enough and all the wages but you are not really a big fan. Stick to Football manager.

ed if the m'villa deal doesn't happen will we move de jong?

cheers {Ed002's Note - I doubt a move for De Jong.}

Believable9 Unbelievable33

Don't like de jong

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope, it is definitely M'Vila, all will be revealed. The window doesnt open in most of europe until 1st July, as well as players on Euro duty, so medicals, etc difficult. Hence deals have been agreed in principle, as follows:
Podolski (done deal), Giroud (agreed subject to medical, etc), M'Vila ( just agredd, subject to medical, etc) and the biggest news RVP to sign for 3 more seasons. There are various sales in the pipeline: Vela, Denilson, Lansbury, Squilacci & Chamakh. Offers received for Bendtner. No offers for Fabianski, Park ir Djourou.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one cheers guys

Looks like we are one step closer to signing m'vila, talksport reports Bayern Munich have dropped out of the running to sign him. To be honest i always thought he was going to sign for us when we were first interested in him, but good news none the less.

Believable38 Unbelievable8

Bayern havent dropped out, they have been informed that a deal has been agreed elsewhere. My information comes from a translator worlking on the documents. he is on his way to Arsenal. Hence, the comments from Gazidis, that Arsenal fans will be excited. The news is, Ins, Podolski, Giroud & M'Vila. The biggest news will be that RVP is signing for a further 3 years. Sales are in the pipeline, being held up as the transfer window in europe doesnt officially open until 1st July, so no registrations are possible. Hence the sily grins & comments from Gazidis & Wenger.

Ed, just read a rumour that Barcelona are interested in Vermarlen. Please tell me there is no truth in this. Can they even afford to start spending that sort of money at the moment?

Realy hope this is BS. I don't think its true but I do think Varmalen we have to think very hard about his future if it was.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Barcelona are after a centre back. Their number one choice is Thiago Silva - if they cannot get him they will look elsewhere. I would doubt Arsenal need concern themselves too much about losing TV just yet as I rather suspect number two on their list would be Mamadou Sakho.}

Believable21 Unbelievable18

Didnt vermaelen just say he will finish his career at arsenal?

bs18

Agree0 Disagree0

TV5 has already said he wants to end his football at arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vermaelen only recently signed a new 5 yr contract- Doubt he will leave!

batch

Agree0 Disagree0

TV signed a new five year deal with us near the start of last season. Let's hope if Barca do come calling that he shows a bit of loyalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Their number 1 target is probably more likely to be Javi martinez, considering versatility and nationality {Ed002's Note - I doubt that they would by him as a centre back.}

Agree0 Disagree0

TV5 won't go, he recently said he wants to finish his career at arsenal when signing a new deal. would cost something close to £30m but no chance for barca, who don't forget are cash strapped

Agree0 Disagree0

He signed that new deal recently, then stated he wants to stay at arsenal forever, I know players words don't mean much nowadays, but I believe him tbh, not to mention they want thiago silva as their first choice, but a £42m bid from
PSG was declined, so I don't see him moving, they also want Javi Martimez, who's playing there a lot for Bilbao and Spain, then theyll apparently move on to TV5, Kompany or David luiz, however I doubt barca could/ would pay the kind of few those three would command, the cheapest would be David luiz I imagine, purely as the other two are much more solid, however even he'd be upwards of £20m

D

Agree0 Disagree0

This so called rumour started because the mail showed a pic of TV5 with Puyol in Ibiza.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sun not the mail sorry

Agree0 Disagree0

Barca cannot afford Silva, PSG made an incredible 43m bid which was rejected.

Agree0 Disagree0

They only want him if they dont get javi martinez

Agree0 Disagree0

Javi Martinez is their target...not because he can play CB but because he can play multiple positions.

This is nothing new, after they were priced out of thiago silva, it was martinez and then david luiz...but the others i feel are just made up.

Vincent company and tv5? both players would command a significant fee. which barca are not willing to do this year, with their debt and the fact their country is in debt.

Agree0 Disagree0

After the Year and summer he's had dont be suprised if Hummels is on their list!

Sky Sports saying Arsene Wenger has come out and said Robin Van Persie will be staying at Arsenal despite interest from Juventus.
I have also read on Daily Mirror Rumours page that Arsene Wenger is so sure that RVP wont move that he made a wager with an italian journallist that RVP wont be moving to Juventus. This may be bull, but i assure you it is on the daily mirror site. But if it is true i doubt RVP will go to juventus, because AW is putting money oon it, and we all know Wenger LIKES TO KEEP HIS MONEY HAHa

Believable26 Unbelievable9

He didn't put money on it, he said if RVP moves to Juventus he'll give the journalist a carmello, which is an Italian ice cream (i think?)

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet AW opens his wallet and he's still got french francs !!

Richie fuzz

Agree0 Disagree0

The bet Wenger made with the journalist is for an ice cream not money. As stated by Sky Sports this morning.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just read the Mirror article. They are quoting AW as having said,
"there is no reason in this world why a great player like Van Persie should go and play for you, in Italy and in your competition.
'Your football (Serie A) is at an inferior level to the Premier League.'"

I really don't believe he would have said this, and to the Italian press no less. It sounds made up.

Ypsigooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger actually wagered a carmelo with the journalist, not any monetary sum

Agree0 Disagree0

He only bet him an Icecream.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah in his pocket

Agree0 Disagree0

Catalan news are speculating about Thiago Silva (1st choice), Javi Martinez (2nd) and David Luiz, Vertonghen, Vermaelen, Sakho, Lovren and Corluka. Personally I think they will go for Bartra (good prospect from academy) plus Mascherano, and buy a Defensive midfielder that can play as defender (Capoue).

Agree0 Disagree0

A carmello is a chocolate caramel bar not ice cream not as though he has bet him a vast amount of money

DD arsenal {Ed002's Note - Perhaps a Marianne Faithful moment coming then?}

Agree0 Disagree0

He wagered an ICE CREAM!! He's not exactly putting everything on the line. Read the whole story next time genius!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea thank you for claryfing if he was betting money then almost every manager would be betting on the probability of their players staying or leaving... this would be illegal as the managers are almost certain of the results and are able to move the results in their favor.. basically its illegal for managers to bet on anything concerning their own teams

ben arfa to arsenal?

Believable32 Unbelievable33

Crap!! thats the same as arsenal going
for heskey... stupid post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats Funny but you Might have a point... Not a fan of Ben arfa Hes not a Wenger Type of footballer...

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes please

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger has personally started negotiations

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet again two totally brainless responses!

Ben Arfa is a FANTASTIC footballer. Anyone who does believe so has either not watched him, or is in some way biased, one of those types who calls good players from other teams rubbish for no real reason.

What does not a wenger type of footballer even mean? Did anyone think Ramsey was? Gervinho?! Wnger doesn't go for Wenger types acording to what thos are on here. Cabaye is a Wenger type. Cisse is a Wenger type. Mata, Hazard, those types of players ARE Wenger types. Ben Arfa could do very very well for us down the right if he came here...please tell us what a wenger type is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ben Arfa is actually a decent player.
doubt the rumour tho.

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger personally stated ' ben arfa is the most technically gifted french player of his generation '
yugo

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems this rumour just got serious as its being reported by leequipe.

I think Ben Arfa is excellent player and I can see him being played ACM behind Van persie.

Agree0 Disagree0

Possible replacement for Theo if he won't sign a new contract?

Marco Fabian to Arsenal {Ed002's Note - Might be tough to get a work permit.}

Believable6 Unbelievable33

Would be a very good signing, Fabian was electric at last month's Toulon Tournament, scored 7 goals equalling the record set by a young Alan Shearer back in 1991.

The fact that Fabian has played over 100 games for Chivas might help convince the authorities to give him a 'special talent' work permit.

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree0

We're not Man Utd. All our work permit cases are still abroad - Wellington,Botelho,Campbell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you his agent?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not all are abroad, we got a special talent permit for Miyaichi.

Ryo was deemed eligible because of his successful spell at Feyenoord, Marco Fabian has 121 appearances for one of Mexico's biggest clubs so would have a chance of qualifying for special consideration.

There's nothing concrete to say we're even interested in him, though.

We were linked with Fabian going into the last January window but that was probably just his agent talking up a move to Europe.

It's almost certain that we had scouts in Toulon last month, so I'm sure we will have watched him as will many big clubs.

Stezza.

Hi ed you seem to know alot of stuff we dont, can you clarify what clubs were in talks with and not giroud and m'villa are there any others? Thanks Ed in advance i love this site.
Wilmslow Gooner {Ed002's Note - "In talks with" is a difficult one to answer. I have explained where I know of confirmed interest and enquiries being made - such as with Anderlecht over Biglia. And then there are players that have been watched (like Dijon's Corgnet) but there has been no direct approach to the club.}
