I am hearing that Wenger may be considering a loan for Ibrahim Afellay. The player is a gamble, but has bags of pace and quality.

If we miss out on some of our top targerts (Hazard, Belhanda, etc.), I think this could be a good back-up option for us.

Can play - LF, CAM, RF, occasionally CF.

Before the injury, his right foot was equal to podolski's left foot.

Billybob {Ed002's Note - I suspect that with Affelay out injured pretty much all of this season it is unlikely that Arsenal would take a chance on him before he could prove his fitness. He may get two or three games so there will be a chance to take a look. However, he will likely be available for sale rather than a loan in the summer and Italy looks like an option if he is. Hazard remains unlikely of course, but interest persists in Belhanda - who is now available.}

I had assumed afellay was a back up plan if we missed out on belhanda (PSG or he stayed at the club).

If afellay goes to Euros he could be worth a gamble (only on loan). Worked out for yossi...

I am just worried we are assuming RVP and Rosicky can relive this level of FUTNESS next season.

Thats why we got podolski, so that when rvp leaves we have someone to step in and play the exact same position and style. Belhanda is good in the french league, but so was gervinho. So, this time next year, will we be saying 'give him a chance its his first year and look at gervinho and koscielny.' - coz if we are saying that, it will 95% mean we are another year without a trophy also.
