Just heard that we put in a bid of £4M for Guaita. ha never laughed so hard

Believable21 Unbelievable21

Then you seriously have to wonder have we got the funds we all really think we have

Agree1 Disagree0

Why laugh hard do you know what his value is?
have you ever seen himplay.
amazing that all fans seem to know mroe about players thrn pro scouts and management

Agree0 Disagree0

Valencia rate Guita at €25m.

To offer £4m is a joke, a disgrace if it were true which I doubt think even Wenger is so rude.

To make things even better sky report ---

Willian is now undergoing a medical at Tottenham, tv understand. Check tv for more as it breaks.

Believable31 Unbelievable7

Good player - but overpriced

Agree0 Disagree2

Yep. This one doesn't bother me as much. Vertonghen is always knacked and the centre of their defence remains two pylons to our one (and I love or BFG in combo with Kos) and don't get me going on Walker for England. But Lamela, Begovich/Spanish keepers. even Willian. wtf? That does bother me. S***s will have one proper keeper and 2 proper wingers to our .5. A real CDM and a striker.

Agree1 Disagree1

We were never in it for him to be honest. Good player too. I think he's over priced. Kinda makes you wonder where the Spurs are getting all this money all of the sudden.

{Ed022's Note - Here's a bold idea, they are selling Bale for 100m euros... That might be a bit of a clue...?}

Agree2 Disagree0

=O there getting there money from selling bale. Am I allowed to tell this one to the press Ed or shall I keep it too myself?

{Ed022's Note - I have a sneaky feeling they may already know...}

Agree2 Disagree0

I know

Agree0 Disagree1

But wouldn't it be really really funny if one of the new signings. say capoue were to accidentally clatter Bale during a training session and injure him badly. I mean look at the 50-50 tackle that the Ox got into at the weekend it could have been a lot lot worse, not much mind.
My point being that spurts couldn't sell bale or play the baboon either. that would be fun

Agree1 Disagree0

The point is they are spending on decent players while we seem to be doing f all.

Agree1 Disagree0

Who cares what spurs do, in the past 10 years they have spent a lot more than arsenal as it is their dream to finish above arsenal, in fact they are the only ones that care about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spuds are throwing away their Bale money, these players are very expensive UEFA cup players.

Agree0 Disagree0

If them jokes down the road get willian or lamela, think i'll go in hibernation for a while, 'cos that'll be the end of the rivalry. wats the point even arguin' with them if thts the case. there ain't an argument. what has our club turned into. Sp#rs!!

Valencia president Amadeo Salva says that although the club do not plan on allowing highly-rated goalkeeper Vicente Guaita to leave, he cannot rule out an exit if the price is right.

{Ed022's Note - That my friends, is football speak for, "Show me the money!"}

Believable30 Unbelievable4

Valencia are in huge financial trouble, they would probably sell any of their players at the right price, the right price being the problem with us it would seem.

Surely the early negotiations were done before a consortium went to Spain? Which begs the question how were we so far off in valuation then?

It smacks of poor planning on our part, we are being forced into a supermarket sweep job again!

Agree1 Disagree0

Forget it, we will not buy anybody because AW does not want to despite the fact that we have just 2 centre backs. The board should have acted weeks ago and changed the manager and therefore they are as much to blame. We need real Arsenal fans on the board and not just money grabbing individuals who have no interest in results, apart from financial ones. Just when I thought that Arsenal were ready to challenge once again, we are going to be left behind and it will take years to come back with AW in charge.

Agree2 Disagree1

I believe he said no less than 25mil

Ed you should be on the stage . Every day
You astound me! Got spare ed places for me!?

{Ed022's Note - I will see what I can do if you give me a Uefa sized brown envelope of cash...}

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Aug 2013 16:14:54
I'll offer you a Wenger sized offer . and negotiate from there!

Agree2 Disagree0

Why have we not moved for proven premier league keepers such as Begovic and mignolet, who I think was a great buy for liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree0

And also means we may aswell be bidding in japanese yen! Maybe Wenger still thinks he's managing Grampus 8?

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal have all that cash reserve. and would rather let the tax man tack a massive chunk of it through a business tax than actually spend it on players. must have shares in the inland revenue or something lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Offer £8 million and put a 48 hour limit on the bid. Time for us to start playing hardball for a change. That leaves plenty of time for another player, preferably Begovic, next week. Can't think of another major club that needs a keeper, so competition for both players may be limited, although I don't suppose Pulis will do us any favours.

{Ed022's Note - For a smartie, you're not so smart... Pulis was sacked a long time ago. Current manager of Stoke? Mark Hughes...}

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2013 17:20:09
Yeah but we won't get him as they want £20million for him.

Hi eds, could you see us going back in for El Shawwary, and how much do you think it would take? I remember reading quotes where their management stated that they would look at "the right" price. Cheers.

{Ed022's Note - He is another £32m plus player but absolutely quality. I would however be surprised if he ended up at Arsenal this summer especially...}

Believable2 Unbelievable27

£32m gets you Higuain, Not sure El Sh. is of the same quality.

{Ed022's Note - El Shaarawy is a player who COULD IMO be one of the top 10 players in the World if he carries on. Very talented. Higuain is a very good player who would have done well for us...}

Apparently we have had another disrespectful bid turned down for Vicente Guaita.

I would prefer to make no bids at all than to insult the other club and fill the fans with false hope! I think someone at the club has really missed the point of 'haggling'

Yes you come up with a lower offer than what they want (not a disrespectful offer) and then you hope to meet in the middle!

I really feel Wenger's time has come. The man is a genius but football is changing and he is not. Football is governed by money and if he is not willing to change his philosophy I am afraid it will ruin the club!

Can honestly anybody see Wenger taking the PSG job though? When they as for him to spend 60million on Jim and he doesn't think he is worth more than 20?

This has been such a frustrating window and I feel it will lead to more disappointment. Yes we will bring players in but they won't be the kinds of signings to take us to the next level. Can see 101 people moaning on this site in 3 years time to get rid of the 'Deadwood' from the 2013-14 season

Can see 101 people moaning on this site in 3 years time to get rid of the 'Deadwood' from the 2013-14 season

Your arshavin a laugh!! why? because we didn't buy anybody

Agree1 Disagree0

If the most disrespectful thing Arsenal do is offer clubs money for players then i'm happy. Whilst i'd have liked to see them spend the extra dosh for Higuain, I don't see that offering under £17m for Valencias second choice gk is disrespectful. Perhaps they felt that he had a market value and if his club felt he was worth more than they would attempt to sign another target (Begovic? Cesar?). To me it'd be more disrespectful to offer a dickload and then back out to sign someone who proves to be better value?

Agree0 Disagree0

With all due respect I think spending obscene amounts of money on players is more likely to ruin the club.

{Ed022's Note - I give you Leeds United Football Club...}

Agree1 Disagree0

Sterry did you not read the post? I said we will bring players in but we will be referring to them as deadwood in 3 years time! The point was we are going to panic buy average players.

That is why enquiries are made. Fair enough when they quote 17m we walk away but if we were that far apart why put a bid on the table?

Agree0 Disagree0

You seem quick to criticise your club?
for" apparent " romours!
lets criticise when the windows is closed arsenal always do business behind closed doors so we don't know what's going on really do we!

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds spent the money they didn't have.

I appreciate what your saying Freddy but if it is to be believed that we constantly haggle over 3-5million would it not be easier to pay the extra than walk away? I am not referring to the Valencia reserve keeper just making a point in general.

And why waste time bidding an amount that will be laughed off of the table? Someone has to be seriously deluded if they think we have a chance with some of the offers we put down

Agree0 Disagree0

I find it amazing that all these clubs suddenly find it disrespectful to bid for players.
Is it suddenly the latest fashion to say your disrespected by someone offering you more money than you paid for a player?
Its so disrespectful that Arsenal should offer £40mill to liverpool for a player they paid £23mill 2.5 years ago, and god forbid we should have the temerity to bid £6million more than newcastle paid for a slightly above average player. And how dare we bid £17mil for a player valencia don't rate enough to put in there first team.
Enough is Enough with all this disrespectful clap trap

Agree0 Disagree0

So because Liverpool and Newcastle got bargains and turned players into proven premiership quality players they aren't allowed to ask for an amount.

Messi joined Barca as a youngster, guess that means he's worth 5 million and they would have no right to be offended by it?

Please tell me that isn't your point?

Just collating some rumours I saw buzzing around last night.

David Ornstein of the tv states that Sakho's representitives are listening to offers from Barcelona, Arsenal, Milan and Spurs - €12m fee with €6m wages. Our approach was from Gazidis - he is a reliable source and I think this would be a great signing due to our weakness in the area.

Lamela is also subject of a bid between Arsenal and Spurs - again if our closest rivals are going for this player we should break the bank to make sure they do not strengthen more than us further - Lamela made the Serie A Team of the Season last year and is a top talent.

Apparently we met the GK Vincente Guaita but did not put a bid in - hopefully this means cesar/begovic is a better option for the club

Juve, Monaco and Arsenal are in the race to sign €20m rated Kondogbia

And finally this morning I have seen that the Juve president has said they are not even close to thinking about selling Pogba to anybody.

Just hoping Arsenal Splash the cash a little bit once this first leg is out the way!

Believable24 Unbelievable9

We have a slim chance to salvage this transfer window from players that are available.

Sakho is a definite must, possibly the best defender openly available, and he can play at left back aswell is a bonus, as our left backs don't stay healthy.

Kondogbia seems to be our guy and he fits a general Wenger signing, young, french, but also a powerhouse with massive potential.

JACKSON MARTINEZ! Although he has said he would like to stay at Porto, we all know Porto are about business. Physically he is well suited to the prem, quick, both footed, strong in the air and leaps like a salmon out of a stream. 35m is the reported buyout clause, yes its a lot but when you watch his play and add his physicality to it, we should be looking at a pretty safe punt.

I haven't added a keeper, reason being, if we can strengthen the defense and get the DM we need the work for the keeper should be minimised and we have someone who is competent enough in that situation.

N.B: I AM AGAINST FULL HEARTEDLY BUYING ANYBODY FROM SWANSEA OR NEWCASTLE! We want players with a WINNING MENTALITY not players who fight relegation or are just happy to be here.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry Mr. GOONER. M but I'm a tad offended by your Swansea comment. They are my second club if you like. They are nowhere near to relegation and coming from the bottom leagues to the prem in pretty much year in year out promotions plus with 1 or 2 minor cups and now the league cup. They have a very got chance of making top 6 I believe and having a major run in Europe so to say they haven't got a winning mentality is personic, you sure you know football? Or do you just repeat what everyone else says? Btw I did agree with your post until that absurd comment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Need to throw down 20 mil ffor Kob and 12 ffor sakho. And we can get Jackson, but we have to throw down that money.

Cabaya would be good to. would throw 15-17. However, I read somewhere that PSG was willing to throw down 20 mil or even 32mil. Ridiculous, but if we don't throw down, he's gone.

Think we should try and get bender though

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to offend you RhymneyGooner, i'm an Arsenal Supporter, I don't support a second team in the same division as my primary team. Why? because I don't see that as being a true supporter. So when we played them in the cup or they beat us at home, were you cheering either way? As an Arsenal supporter I was up in arms at the loss and happy we beat them in the cup. Ok back to the comment, despite your supporting of Swansea, to say they have a winning mentality because they have won the League cup is very wide of the mark! they finished the season with one of the worst records in the last 10 games! While we did the opposite, is that the winning mentality you talk of? and to think they may get top 6? Just who will they replace? Hmmmm ok. Maybe that last bit was a point I made that true Gooners appreciate, not those who are divided.

Kondogbia is a available and has a release clause of €20 million/ £17.1 million. Monaco are interested but are keen to negotiate for €15 million. He is a player who we are interested in and is a lot cheaper than pogba.

Believable15 Unbelievable7

Wasteful to throw 20 million on a player that has no premier league experience? Fernandinho took to the premier league like a duck to water the other night for man city!

{Ed022's Note - Hazard, Mata, Aguero, Hernandez to name a few settled straight into the PL in their FIRST season. PL experience isn't THAT essential. However, someone like Fellaini who knows the league and would literally slot into our midfield and know whats happening wouldn't be such a bad option...}

Agree1 Disagree0

I heard this morning that because of some issue or tax clause or something (can't remember exactly), that the real release clause figure is closer to 27mil.

That is not say that Kondogbia could be bought for less, just that the release clause is actually a lot higher.

We're in for either Uchida(Schalke) And Richards(Mancity) hopefully wenger doesn't keep Sagna for another season because he's slow and is starting to get old.

Believable11 Unbelievable38

I just can't believe Wenger trying to defend the transfer policy. Fair enough if we did not need new players but just 2 centre backs in he squad going into the new season makes his statements complete nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sagna will stay we can't afford to get rid of players of that quality we are short enough as it is.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sagna is our strongest player and winning more headers than Mertesacker. he's not bad? or am I the only one thinking that.

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree with the comments about Sagna - he is great in the air and we should do all we can to make sure he stays.

Agree1 Disagree1

Sagna is not slow! He's one of our quicker players.

Agree0 Disagree2

Sagna had a poor 2011-12 season may be, but was excellent last season

Agree0 Disagree1

May I remind all of you sticking up for Sagna. Arsenal would have beaten Manchester United if Sagna hadn't blatantly fouled the person we know as RVP.

Agree1 Disagree0

Last season he was shocking and made jenks into a beast, this season he's bac (wink wink) to form

Agree1 Disagree0

Sagan is prone to making so many mistakes at the back . As much as he wins balls in the air and as for speed, he's never been fast but also never slow .

The one problem I have with him is he plays great for a game but always leaves this 10 minute gap where he let's everything and anything through. Every time he plays.

Can't seem to figure out why

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you kidding? Sagna would wipe the floor with either of those players.

michu and Williams to be done on deadline day. pogba will be close.
peace

Believable13 Unbelievable73

What are you sources where did you get this information from?

{Ed022's Note - Im guessing tomato... }

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to be negative but we will sign nobody apart from young players for the future. Arsene will never ever spend on big players we need a big change and that is Arsene out ASAP and a shake up to the board and until then we will get worst every season until there's no further to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

You need to reshake that magic 8 ball buddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

The frustrating thing is players like Williams would never ever be linked to a team like arsenal, now players are choosing over teams over arsenal and we will have to settle for lower quality. Ultimate bad business with very little time to change anything

Agree0 Disagree0

No they won't
