I would prefer Vertonghen really, due to ability to play LB. Ben H (I posted this)

ArsenalKid10 - This is an important Champions League game for both clubs, Dortmund will be keep Gotze on a tight leash before and after the game because no club wants their star player thinking of other clubs in important games.
Though would love to see him at Arsenal.

Well Gotze has already stated he will most likely leave end of season.
Now with that said teams like City, Utd, Chelsea, Real, Barcelona, and Arsenal are looking at getting him.
Arsenal dont stand a chance in any bidding war with any of those teams.
So it comes down to the player, the agent, Money is not necessarily the only thing, play time is for a player his age no1 priority.
If chelsea do go after krasic in Jan then gotze is off their list, city already have silva and nasri and milner and johnson...his advisor will tell him to take the money but his playing time will be limited.
Real madrid and barcelona are packed from top to bottom with star studded players but its left to be seen if he does indeed choose them.
The only reason i give him hope of joining arsenal is the fact that wenger would start him over walcott or gervinho, or play him as an ACM, with wilshere and song just behind him.

with our current squad, we should only sign a top star player, no average like podolski. for me podolski is average because i can't see as a starter for us. ideally i wouold like us to sign one big name, a winger or attacking midfielder. we should at least try to get hazard or goetze as they're probably the best young players in the world (with wilshere of course). then if that doesn't happen we should move to honda/dzagoev/eriksen/hulk. all of them are equal to me

Is That Why Podolski Starts For Germany Even Though He Plays For Klon
Podolski is not at all average. Just because he plays for his hometown midtable club doesn't mean he couldn't play elsewhere. He struggled while he was at Bayern for a variety of reasons but he is consistently fantastic for the German national team.
He is very experienced at the highest level with Germany, he is very strong and has a good work rate (good for Premier League), has a powerful and accurate left foot, and can play either striker or out on the wing.
Podolski plays the arsenal way - he's class and would massively improve the team.

podolski is now playing up front and is on form but podolski is impriving in the short term great buy in the long term reus will take over for germany
Surely podolski is a good player. after all he gets into german national team. but he's not a superstar, he bangs goals for köln but haven't really broken the bank. i reckon next season gervinho and walcott are as good as him or even better. i can't see podolski benching any of them.
Podolski plays for a smaller club and no big club wants him after his time with Bayern. So unlike Hulk,Goetze, Hazard, or Eriksson he will not cost £30m plus, so there is a real chance he might come. All the others are fantasy rubbish.
The reality is he is a bit of a risk, but like Henry and Bergkamp who sort of failed before they came here Podolski is a clear talent and he and Arsenal could be made for each other.
If arsenal get any 4 of them players they will have a quality side for after january

There are 2 pdodlskis the 1 for germany who is class and is supplied by class players like ozil, shweinstieger and theres the podolski for koln who doesnt get supplied because the rest of the team is pooo. so podolski + arsenal = amazing
How can you say that Podolski is average because he wouldn't start? We play with one striker, currently the best in the league, so by your standards that makes every other striker in the league average! There are only 2 strikers in the world who would start over RVP, maybe only one, so you can't judge a player's calibre by that. If you knew anything about Podolski you'd know he's been a top top striker for years and would be a fantastic signing for us.

seriously, there's no doubt podolski is a good player. everyone saying otherwise is a fool. when i said podolski wouldn't start for us i meant that not only van persie, but also gervinho and walcott are ahead of him. that's my personal opinion, i don't rate podolski higher than walcott and gervinho. that makes podolski average for me. it's relative, for koln he's a superstar, would he be a superstar for real madrid? hardly. for arsenal i believe he would be average player. i can easily say that because it's my personal opinion. i said "for me podolski is average etc..." notice words FOR ME! and doesn't average mean exactly that, not the best but not the worst either? you believe he would be good for us. but i think we have already good players so if we are to add it must be someone better. these are opinions and you just can't say everyone else is wrong and you're right.
and i do know something about podolski. in fact i like him quite much but hey, you can't have all the players you like in your club.

Santos deffo last few games showing why A.W signed him.he deffo reminds me of an ashley cole when he played for us.
I agree he seems to be playing within himself a little to, which a i see as a smart move while he adapts to the speed of the game in the EPL
I love him!
Santos looks like a pub player! Losing a few pounds would help i think? He's got potential but so did Senderos and Djourou.....
He is starting to show some classy touches but needs to stop going to ground on some tackles.
His fitness also seems to be a small concern but I'm sure in time to come he will adjust. Certainly looks like one barca might come calling for in future.

They're truly pathetic aren't they. Nobody has cared about Podolski at all - then look what happens, we show an interest and the rest, as always, is history.
The spuds annoy me so much go and scout ur own players god!

It's not really nonsense. Drogs has been an under the radar look since Summer & Gotze was almost ours back then, as well.
Would have thought Anelka was more likely than Drogba?
