Wenger WANTS a lot of players....Neymar.....Cavani amongst the a lot he would never sign.

But the sad thing is, can anyone actually see any "world class" players wanting to play in a team that is underachieving and in all likelihood will be in the the Europa League next season, at best!

I'am from Bosnia and I love Arsenal. It's not because he is from Bosnia, but Edin Dzeko will be great for us, top class player. Jovetic is good, better then Podolski. With him, Theo and Cazorla up, and Diame, Jack and Arteta in the middle, we can past Bayern I think!

He hasn't signed he had a medical scheduled and didn't show {Ed002's Note - He was simply late arriving because of the weather - the deal is done.}

We missed another target? If we really wantet Mbiwa we would have bought him, just as for example Mvila. And we all saw how he turned out, a real douchebag. Now, lets trust Wenger on market. He has said we need players this window and that the money is there for Arsenal to spend big, so lets not jump to conclusions

Was pretty interesting the way Wenger didn't even acknowledge Frimpong in his press conference when it was suggested to him he has a DM problem.

I expect them all to leave arshavin going will free up serious wages, flog a couple of others who are out on loan currently and buy real quality I can dream ..

Any chance of this ed ? Could you see a lot leavin on perms in the summer the likes of chamakh bendtner park djourou Denison ?

If we sign David Villa I will not be happy, he's old, not good enough, if Wenger wants us to get Champions League place this season he had better sign a few absolute worldies, because at the moment we're heading for Europa.

It wasn't more than two years ago that Villa was considered the best striker in the world. You don't jsut lose what he has. One injury and one tactical change and people think this man has fallen off the planet.

Falcao, Cavani, van Pussy, Aguero, Tevez... Villa is still in the same league.

Age is one thing but not good enough....you have no idea.....If he stays injury free he will score for fun....i watch a lot of Spanish football......Maybe people thought that of Henry when he never settle at Juvenus or Bergkamp at inter.....they never hit the ground running but proved their worth.....Villa scored a great goal a few weeks ago, showing great close control and a ice cool finish......Some people really post some crap on here at times.....Wenger stated that the quality has moved from France to both Germany and Spain, but everybody keeps going on about various players we are linked with from France.....We are in dire need of a big strong ball winning midfielder.....This is not the role Arteta should be expected to fill......And we need a proven goal scorer.....In the summer we need cover for leftback, goalkeeper, left sided winger/midfielder and maybe a big impossing center back.....The later could be aquired from Fulham for a free transfer.....KM

Oh please, he is still far better than giroud. Will bring experience, pace and goalscoring ability for a good season and a half whilst walcott continues his transition into the striker role and olivier gets used to the english game.

Do you realise he is the 13th highest goalscorer of all time in the spanish league, he has a ratio of 0.56 throughout his entire playing career.
David villa is definately worth it and if we have these magical amounts the board say we do, then 16m is not to much to gamble anyway

Wtf so a goal scoring ration of 1 goals every 2 games and he wouldn't have him in the team, he may be 31 but i'd rather have him in our attack everytime over some of our strikers

Old ?, not good enough ?, thankfully your not in charge of any football club. Despite his injury Villa is still one of the best strikers in world football, just look at his record with Spain and Barcelona. The guy is in the prime of his his career and would be a quality addition to the squad.

Hi, first time poster. But have viewed for some time. Eds had question re your sources. Although not direct transfer link but linked thought would hook in your knowledge. what's your opinion on arsenals current scouting network? Wenger made his name on finding unearthed diamonds round the world but doesn't seem to find many now and worse of all doesn't even seemto have finger on the pulse in france where he was the king of finds? Newcastle have plucked several and wenger seems light years behind. Wondered your thoughts? Personally struggling to suss the hidden agenda of wenger can't find players to better our squad? Sturridge went for £12mill and twice the player ov asharvin or gervinho? don't know about uous but would be gutted if only buys are a west ham midfielder and poss unknown youngster? Our scouting is probably the best in the world, no other club needs one, we scout for everyone.

He's better than mertesacker and koscielny so we should have snapped him up really

The only defender we have better than him is vermalaen and sometimes koscielney on a good day.

does anyone get the feeling that the diame deal is done, but we can't actually sign him until after we play them ? and we could of already had him if the west ham game had nt of been re scheduled ??

Yes, it will be interesting to see if he plays tomorrow. I wonder if allowing Chamakh to join West Ham on loan, was a sweetner for the Diame deal.

Would West Ham risk playing a player against opponents for whom he has "already signed"?

If Diame is not playing tomorrow I think it would be an indication that a deal is in place.

I like Diame as a player, we do need more numbers in midfield, especially some strength and physicality, he offers that and good technical ability too..

Another average signing if true. i'm finding it hard to believe but if we sign Diame then Wenger really has lost it.

I agree if diame was as good as everyone is making out then a bigger club would have signed him in the summer on a free transfer, one or two half decent performances against the likes of reading does not make this guy a champions league calibre player

Mohammed Diame is Arsenal player now. He has sign the contract for 4 years and to be announced soon..
He rejects West Ham extend contract offer..

Coquelin is possibly out on loan for Real Betis if the injury is not too bad

Don't really want Tiote at the Arsenal. He's attitude is shocking sometimes though maybe that is just what we need. A mid park bully who would put some fear in opposition's playmakers (I mean looking at chelsea's game lamps, ramirez played as if diaby and coqulein weren't even on the pitch)

I think this free's up Cabaye. A player Wenger definitely likes. Premier league experience.

If this has been Wenger's plan, and the silense is to allow them to buy players, well then, I am pleased!

Seems like we are about to sign a defensive mid.
The coquelin injury sounds dubious so I reckon he's going out on loan with a defensive mid coming in. Any ideas? M'vila?, Wanyama?, Diame? I think I prefer Wanyama.

Also interesting smile from WEnger in the press conference when asked about Gourcuff.

Stefan {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. This summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool and Arsenal related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving in the summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. If you were to ask if I expect Honda to move to Liverpool in January the answer would be probably not.}

My contact on the ground who works inside the Nou Camp has confirmed the David Villa story of him wanting to leave, he wants one last challenge and that is the premier league before retiring. His first choice is Arsenal and apparently a bid has been received of £12m from Arsenal which as we all know is less than the £16m Barca want, so anyone's guess as to the outcome of this one.

I think you underestimate the pull we still have as a club. Maybe you are not an Arsenal fan but if you are, maybe you shouldn't be. We are a massive club and for someone like David Villa who has won Champions leagues and La Ligas already, going to Arsenal would represent a very interesting Challenge.It would be a great challenge for any player who isn't simply motivated by money...and believe it or not there are still footballers out there like that.

I think Wenger really likes this player, but can't get him now.

So does he waste money to sign another CDM, who does not have to same quality, or hold out with what he has...

Ideally, we could loan a quality DM, but who is available...That was probably the rationale with Essien.
