Heard on the grapevine that arsenal are very interested in signing a Spanish midfielder called Benat. Personally I have no clue who he is, but apparently arsenal want to bring him in in the summer, but it's possible the deal could be completed I'm January. Being Spanish I'm guessing he's not a solid def mid, so can't imagine he's something we need. Anyone else heard anything about this? Ed's or anyone..
Chimney Sweep Josh {Ed001's Note - Real Betis midfielder, more of a playmaker I would say. He is being linked with all and sundry, from Arsenal to Chelsea to Wolfsburg to well just about every team with money. The reason being Betis are skint and looking to sell, so the links get put about to get some interest stirred up.}

Fair play to Newcastle for gettin mbiwa quality player missed another Target wenger.10 days left better sharpen your act up an get some quality players in think the jovetic rumour has some legs in it they have bought rossi an if we offer arshavin an 17 million that might do it pay him arshavins wages 80k a week think this could happen an diame will sign after west ham game an that will be it for us expect the summer to be very busy

I'am from Bosnia and I love Arsenal. It's not because he is from Bosnia, but Edin Dzeko will be great for us, top class player. Jovetic is good, better then Podolski. With him, Theo and Cazorla up, and Diame, Jack and Arteta in the middle, we can past Bayern I think!

He hasn't signed he had a medical scheduled and didn't show {Ed002's Note - He was simply late arriving because of the weather - the deal is done.}

We missed another target? If we really wantet Mbiwa we would have bought him, just as for example Mvila. And we all saw how he turned out, a real douchebag. Now, lets trust Wenger on market. He has said we need players this window and that the money is there for Arsenal to spend big, so lets not jump to conclusions

thanks
Justin {Ed002's Note - Both Manchester United and Arsenal both remain interested in Wanyama but are reluctant to pay the sort of figure Celtic are looking for right now. Given that Begiristain has hinted that Manchester City are considering making a bid for the player as well, one or both might look to try and tempt Celtic to sell and the player to drop his Champions League ambitions for the rest of the season.}

And why would your cousin know? Wanyama is in the SENIOR team, noy the reserves. Wanyama will go in the summer as hooper will, & I must say a bidding war can only be good for celtic, tho I reckon Big Vic will have the final say on who secures his signature, can't see it being the gunners tho, he will want to win silverwear & you lot haven't done that in a while. On a personal note, good luck Victor, you were a grteat servent on your short time here, I will follow your career as ypu have the makings of an international superstar.

It wasn't more than two years ago that Villa was considered the best striker in the world. You don't jsut lose what he has. One injury and one tactical change and people think this man has fallen off the planet.

Age is one thing but not good enough....you have no idea.....If he stays injury free he will score for fun....i watch a lot of Spanish football......Maybe people thought that of Henry when he never settle at Juvenus or Bergkamp at inter.....they never hit the ground running but proved their worth.....Villa scored a great goal a few weeks ago, showing great close control and a ice cool finish......Some people really post some crap on here at times.....Wenger stated that the quality has moved from France to both Germany and Spain, but everybody keeps going on about various players we are linked with from France.....We are in dire need of a big strong ball winning midfielder.....This is not the role Arteta should be expected to fill......And we need a proven goal scorer.....In the summer we need cover for leftback, goalkeeper, left sided winger/midfielder and maybe a big impossing center back.....The later could be aquired from Fulham for a free transfer.....KM

Moussa Sissoko on his way.... {Ed002's Note - Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has previously attracted interest from Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Damien Comolli went as far as letting Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool saw Sissoko as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard - but for some reason the club failed to make the final push to buy the player. Sissoko remains available (as he has done for two years) and Monaco, Wolfsburg, Marseille, Juventus, QPR, Aston Villa, Newcastle, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow and Spurs have enquired - with a tentative agreement initially being reached with Newcastle and Juventus over the price. Right now Newcastle are looking to agreeing a pre-contract agreement with a slim chance that AC Milan might offer an immediate cash deal.}

Hi, first time poster. But have viewed for some time. Eds had question re your sources. Although not direct transfer link but linked thought would hook in your knowledge. what's your opinion on arsenals current scouting network? Wenger made his name on finding unearthed diamonds round the world but doesn't seem to find many now and worse of all doesn't even seemto have finger on the pulse in france where he was the king of finds? Newcastle have plucked several and wenger seems light years behind. Wondered your thoughts? Personally struggling to suss the hidden agenda of wenger can't find players to better our squad? Sturridge went for £12mill and twice the player ov asharvin or gervinho? don't know about uous but would be gutted if only buys are a west ham midfielder and poss unknown youngster? Thanks for time and your efforts in site highburyhippo {Ed002's Note - I am steering clear of giving any direct answers on the Arsenal page right now but from what I know of the scouting network it is fine. Put aside the comparisons with other clubs and the price of Sturridge, a player Arsenal had no interest in. There will be plenty of changes coming in the longer term but let the club get on with bring a couple of players in.}

Would West Ham risk playing a player against opponents for whom he has "already signed"?

If Diame is not playing tomorrow I think it would be an indication that a deal is in place.
I like Diame as a player, we do need more numbers in midfield, especially some strength and physicality, he offers that and good technical ability too..

diame will be an arsenal player before the transfer deadline passes.... don't expect any ' big ' name signings in this window...
in the summer is when a couple of big names will come in ( top four finish will determine how many BIG names come in ) expect major transfers in the summer, in and out of the club... this will see the first time in wengers reign of BIG money being spent on proven ' world class players ' weather we will have champions league football next year is anyone's guess at the minute....
diame in for definite this window and maybe one more am hearing rumours off an african defender a german defender ' not hummels ' and david villa will NOT be leaving in this window! will keep you updated if I hear anymore

I am an Arsenal fan and I believe David Villa would not be a good signing. He is 31 and is getting limited playing time because he is still on the come back from a serious double leg break that kept him out of action for a year! We should be trying to sign fernado llorente from bilbao. He single handedly knocked out man utd of the europa league last season, has technique and goal scoring ability similar to rvp and only has 6 months to run and won't sign another contract. We are desperatly short of a tanacious midfielder too. In wenger I trust and believe the wizard will steer us into the champions league next season however we are short in a couple of areas and fingers crossed we will see fresh faces at the emirates before febuary 1st.

Hi Ed. Do you know anything about interest in Keisuke Honda? Thx in advance.
Stefan {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. This summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool and Arsenal related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving in the summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. If you were to ask if I expect Honda to move to Liverpool in January the answer would be probably not.}

Adrian Lopez is not exactly bad, but we don't need another bench quality player.
We have bench quality players on the pitch already.
I mean all credit to Giroud, I think he's got a lot of potential.
But would he be starting at United?
I doubt it. That's why they are 1st and we arent.
We should be signing a player of Higuain/Falcao standard and thus strikers like Giroud, who aren't at all bad, will be put on the bench.
In midfield, I think a player like Gotze would do us a world of good.
Great for the squad, rotation and adds a significant amount of quality to the team.
In defence, Luke Shaw at left back would be fantastic. So much potential and would also be great for the squad.
These 3 players would make people think twice about Arsenals drop in quality, would boost the fans morale and attitude, be great for merchandise sales, increase our on pitch performance and just as a little bonus, bring the Arsenal overall in FIFA/PES up a bit.
Nick.

Higuain is the laziest player you will see. But a prolific goal scorer. Out of higuain and falcao i'd have the latter. TBh i'd rather have Cavani as well, has an amazing Goals to game ratio. Very mobile. But yes, we do need a Prolific goal scorer.

Guys forget 50 mil players like cavani and falcao. we won't pay that much and we don't pay enough for them in wages. They have at least 10 other quality options in europe that would offer them say double of what we usually pay. I would defo take either Benzema or Higuain if they were available for around 25 mil. I am pro David Villa as well. Forget the injury and 31 years. This is a guy who can score every game for the next 2 years if he'll get service. Huntelar and Llorente are out of picture now. Lewandowski will not come to Arsenal (he sees himself as a top star already and will only move to the very top club from dortmund - plus him and szczesny aren't the biggest friends to be honest). I honestly don't know and I can see Wenger's having the same problem. He wants to add someone but not many are available with the right price/wages/age/injury record etc. etc.

When will some of our fans realise we are not going to buy these megastars, why on earth would they want to come to our club in its current state!

My contact on the ground who works inside the Nou Camp has confirmed the David Villa story of him wanting to leave, he wants one last challenge and that is the premier league before retiring. His first choice is Arsenal and apparently a bid has been received of £12m from Arsenal which as we all know is less than the £16m Barca want, so anyone's guess as to the outcome of this one.

I think you underestimate the pull we still have as a club. Maybe you are not an Arsenal fan but if you are, maybe you shouldn't be. We are a massive club and for someone like David Villa who has won Champions leagues and La Ligas already, going to Arsenal would represent a very interesting Challenge.It would be a great challenge for any player who isn't simply motivated by money...and believe it or not there are still footballers out there like that.

M'Biwa on his way & Diame will be signed after tomorrow's match, assuming he avoids injury! Still working on David Villa, despite Barca's reluctance to sell.

My prefered choice at cdm would be etienne capoue I just think he is a much more complete midfielder with the qualities we are looking for, strong, good on the ball and can protect the back four, what do you think our chances of getting him are ed?
Clock end gooner {Ed001's Note - he is a very possible signing, IF the club were to go for him, and therein lies the main stumbling block. Arsenal are not showing any signs of moving for him at all.}

I imagine this is one for the summer - which is where the problem lies.
I think Wenger really likes this player, but can't get him now.
So does he waste money to sign another CDM, who does not have to same quality, or hold out with what he has...
Ideally, we could loan a quality DM, but who is available...That was probably the rationale with Essien.
