Frieburg striker Papiss Demba Cisse is a proven goal machine in the Bundesliga. Scores a majority of his goals in the six-yard box. Just what the Arse need...a cutting edge. Oh, and a quality playmaker and oh yeah, a partner for the Verminator.
P.S. Goodbye Nasri...you greedy person

{Ed022's Note - Sunderland and Fulham have been linked to him recently and the way we're going, he'l choose them over us for better wages...}

Haha love the Edfactor cropping up people's posts.... you 'person' you :-)

gola.com have been told by arsenal board that wenger have a 103 milion euros to spend

Believable14 Unbelievable34

If he doesn't spend it then there can be no argument that the board are tight

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't surprise if the club had that amount lying around but I HIGHLY DOUBT that the board would tell gola.com that. Or goal.com for that matter.

StEvE

Agree0 Disagree0

No way goal.com is getting any direct inside info like that. Even so, Gazidis and the board have come out several times to say there is money to spend. It's just their way of laying the blame directly at Wenger's feet and deflecting it from themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Umm, name another professional sports club in the world that actually discloses how much they have to spend to a semi-credible news source?

I'm getting sick of reading these person fake Gooner fans.

{Ed022's Note - Your optimistic by putting semi in front of credible. I would have gone for "Hardly ever..." Or "Never really..."}

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point Ed. I really can't stand the American soccer "outlets". Fox Sports is, well ummm, fox sports and weak. I don't think Goal has ever done anything besides compile stuff that has already happened.

{Ed022's Note - I would literally print what they write out and use it as bog paper for the amount of credible journalism that they actually do...Also, why would Arsenal announce we've got £90m to spend because any club we are dealing with over transfers will say we know you've got £90m, show us the money for so and so...}

Agree0 Disagree0

They're pretty spot on though, whether they're lying about their source or not.

We had £40m before any sales/purchases. Plus £15m from property sales... = £55m.

Add to that Cesc's £34m, Nasri's £22m, Eboue's £4m and Clichy's £7m takes the total to £122m.

Now take away Gervinho's £11m, AOC's £12m and the £2m for Jenkinson/Campbell leaves us with a total of - £97m give or take, which equates to 110m

Agree0 Disagree0

There are other factors that go into that budget though.

Don't you also have to factor in that wages are indeed part of that budget?

Am I correct Ed?

{Ed022's Note - You are indeed correct and will go through to the bonus round where you get to go for the car!

On a serious note: Football transfer budgets include players re-signing contracts as well as transfers which is why players werent signed before Nasri and Fabregas's future were undecided. Why would Wenger sign a midfielder for £25m+ for example, if it cost just £5.2m a year on a 100k a week contract. Meaning he would pay £26m over five years on keeping Nasri or spend £25m or so in a heartbeat to sign a replacement for him. Its a numbers game!}

Agree0 Disagree0

(Not a rumour but please put this in)
goal.com i can gaurentee Wayne Veysey wrote this "exclusive" he was my lecturer at Uni and at one point i worked with him....we had a running joke at Uni, if Wayne has an exclusive go and bet everything u own on it not happening or being true

{Ed022's Note - It is true Wayne Veysey at Roehampton University and I know several people who studied there. I also know that Wayne's knack for a story is something to be read but not believed. Its all just "creative journalism..."}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks. Aspiring agent here, so I must learn the numbers game well before I get near a negotiating table.

After reviewing the numbers of Arsenal, I am amazed at what we've accomplished in recent years. It's truly a feat in and of itself that we've managed 13 straight CL years. (Hopefully 14).

PMc

Agree0 Disagree0

I know that we have to factor renegotiation money and wages into the £97m Ed and other posters.

Doesn't take away from the fact that this IS what's in our coffers however.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with what a previous poster said: This is the club's way of deflecting blame from themselves and onto Wenger. Disgusting if you ask me.

Agree0 Disagree0

97m - wages (of new signings, total 100k per week i reckon) - bonuses = still upwards of 80m GBP

though tbh, a LOT of our transfer activity depends on what happens vs Udinese

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course Arsenal have the funds. The problem is that Arsene Wenger has embarked upon a policy of aquiring young talent & bringing the players through. I think he thinks that purchasing players will stall this process. We have an amazing young squad coming through- Szczesny, Jenkinson, Miguel, Bartley, Gibbs - Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Miyachi are just a few of our young players in the first team frame. The main problem is that we have sold or loaned or will sell a few of the players that have reached maturity & these need to be replaced urgently.

Hi, I know someone who works within the football analysis team for Arsenal FC. I actually went to Hull University with the guy in question. I can't mention his name but I will say he is 24 and worked at a Championship club as their first-team performance analyst. His job is to provide detailed video and statistical analysis relating to team performance, opposition analysis and player recruitment.

As an Arsenal fan from London when I met him for a beer at the weekend naturally the topic of football came up as I always pick his brains. He told me that Arsenal have some fantastic signings lined up and two of which will definitely surprise people. He said Arsene is lining up 3 signings, 4 if Nasri goes which he obviously will now.

He has said Arsene Wenger has shown a lot of interest in FIVE Everton players. My friend said these players are Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Marouane Fellaini, Jack Rodwell and Mikael Arteta. He added the Wenger has hinted at signing at least two of the above players (most likely Jagielka and Arteta) He added that Wednesday is the watershed for the signings and Wenger is not allowed to sign any players (by the board) until qualification is ensured.

Ryan Mac

Believable32 Unbelievable26

Good news for the most part, although I'd rather we didn't sign Arteta and looked elsewhere for an attacking mid. He'd certainly add creativity to our midfield, but he's spent a lot of games out injured the last few seasons and that'll probably only get worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a really refreshing post to read, even if none of it comes true (not saying it won't come true, I am just saying it makes nice reading either way). Everton are my 2nd favourite team, I think they have a fantastic squad, and Arteta is amazing. Yes he's an injury risk but so is any player really. I met Arteta in Liverpool a year ago and scrificed a FIVE QUID food voucher so he could sign it, only to go and give it to my housemate for his birthday as he is an Everton fan. If he came to Arsenal I would do my best to be the first to get a shirt with his name on.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini sounds great.. can defend and attack. also play with vermaelen before with belgium.
he also said that he want to leave for a big ambitious club than everton.
-hakeem-

Agree0 Disagree0

That's great news if true. All good players but Fellaini and Baines would be my picks because Fellaini is the better midfielder out of him and Rodwell and there are better options in Arteta and Jagielka's positions. Baines is self explanatory really.

I too have a soft spot for Everton. I feel really sorry for them as they would be the prime candidate for a takeover. Not on Man City or Chelsea scale but just so Moyes could have say 20-30m to spend like Villa. I mean they live in a big city, have great support and are steeped in history. It's a sin in my opinion.

StEvE

The Falcao from Porto Rumour has gone cold now I know, but I still reckon he would be a top singing for us.
We are crying out for a proper Fox in the Box striker that actually enjoys the penalty area and not treat it as a no go area. We lose so many potential goals because of this it's unreal and frustrating to see. I reckon we could get him for say 18-20Mill. What do you reckon Ed. would Porto sell?

{Ed022's Note - Yeah I definitely think Porto will sell because they already have... Falcao signed for Athletico Madrid five days ago. The transfer fee was €40 million plus €7 million in potential add-ons, making it the most expensive in the club's history...He was bought with the money made from Aguero and is their big name replacement.}

Believable5 Unbelievable13

Damn did not know about that, another good player missed by us, we could have surely out muscled Atletico arghh.............

Agree0 Disagree0

For that fee, this is one signing I don't mind missing out on. Had he been 20m cheaper then sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

He would have been 20Mill cheaper if we we had bid before Athletic sold Aguero and gained all that money that is the point, another missed one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plenty of players we've missed out on to get worked up over. Not going to get upset over one that ended up going for near 50m euros as I doubt Porto would've been willing to sell for half that.

Agree0 Disagree0

He had a release clause for 26,5 mill untill signing a new contract few weeks back with porto uping the release clause so yep we cound of had him half price edd u muppet do your job right will ya :) tony bad boy muther f***ing too , posts never get on here if u have ago at wenger well its reasons like this that some of us do falcao is a real class act youall all see next year forsure

It says on bbc sport that the manger of Lille will not sell hazard to anyone so that might seem like the end of that rumour although wenger said the same about fabregas and nasri...

Believable24 Unbelievable9

Problem is that you know that when other managers say no, they mean it, when wenger says no, we might as well help our players with their removals

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger said he wouldnt sell cesc or nasri..........

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely Arsene says no means yes - Arsene says no chance means they are just packing their bags. Others no means no, and Lille have no need at all to sell, and Hazard will not want to join a club in decline.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lille certainly will not sell him on the cheap now, but money talks and I reckon a 28-30Million bid would do it. It just depends weather Arsenal would go that high. I personally see us waiting until next year to try and get him. CB, LB and DM areas are more pressing needs now.

{Ed022's Note - Next year? When City, Barca, Man Utd, Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern, Real Madrid and many more clubs have fresh new (bigger than us budgets...) If we don't sign him this summer, January at the latest, we never will. He will only get more expensive and we will get blown out the water...I would literally pay the money they want for him, sign him up and get him on a long term contract. This guy will be huge and would be such a fans favourite. So exciting to watch.}

BBC have said that Nasri and Arsenal have agreed on a 25m fee and he is having a medicle. What do you know about this Ed.

{Ed022's Note - Nasri will sign later tonight or tomorrow morning. Fee I heard was £22m.}

Believable29 Unbelievable5

There was a sell on clauses to marsielle id imagine in the region of 10-15% plus a £400k payment to cover his "football education" id imagine by the time all the other costs/fees are taken off you could say 15-17mill into the imaginary transfer warchest

Why do people keep saying we will only sign players if we win tomorrow? Surely we still need to improve our team for the prem? Dudemeister Im cool

{Ed022's Note - Its not that we won't sign players if we go through or go out. The result will determine the "quality and value" of any players that come in. Given the fact that making the group stages will generate about £25m for the club and being in the CL will mean a better quality of players we can attract, that is why the result of tomorrows game is crucial. Simon Kjaer is about to leave Wolfsburg for Roma or another big European club. Both Magath and Kjaers agent has said so today. Roma the more likely but i could see him joining Arsenal, if a bid was made.
I would love this move because he is relatively cheap (10-12 M£) and i think the prem. would suit him well. Right footed, strong, good header, not slow and only 22.
He hasn't got prem experience, but he is a Denmark regular with 17 starts. He has also played 65 games in the Serie A, and 34 in the Bundesliga. That's not bad for someone at 22.

CLewis

{Ed022's Note - He is a talented defender although he has gone off the boil in the last season or two. Still, a great defender with a bright future. Also, would be available for a reasonable price.}

Believable21 Unbelievable4

My first choice would be Vertonghen, but I would take Kjaer over Jags, Cahill, Samba and Dann without a doubt. If we don't get him now we never will (unless he stays at Wolfsburg). He is going to be a beast and his price will rocket.

No matter what the result tomorrow we will make signings.

Jagielka will come no matter what.

Players like Hazard and Vertonghen have been lined up though not agreed but will only come in if we get the right result tomorrow night.

Wenger has back up players ready, Zarate, Martin among others.
He will bring in a minimum of 3 players, expect a couple of surprises.

Gooneremo

Believable26 Unbelievable23

A couple of surprises ? What you mean is a couple of clowns in football boots. What is happening to this 'team'? Must win game tomorrow, else we will end up with average Joe's like Chris Samba. We should be aiming higher than that, or are resigned to mediocrity now we've sold 2 of our greatest assets?

Agree0 Disagree0

2 of our greatest assets? what use are they to us if they aren't bothered about playing for the team?
Did you not see the second half of last season, neither cesc or nasri looked bothered.
Admittedly they weren't the only ones but I believe Wenger will reinvest.
With a bit of good fortune we can maintain a top 4 finish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard not coming according to SSN

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see this on SSN

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sick of maintaining a top 4 finish, a club like AFC should be aspiring to win things. Having said that if someone offered me a top 4 finish now I'd bite their arm off.

Hi Ed. what do you think will be the score tomorrow evening in Italy. You think we will get together and pull through {Ed022's Note - Given the fact Arsene Wenger is now going to be allowed on the touchline and in the changing rooms I think is a massive boost. Personally I think we'l nick a draw and go through although as I have said I would literally take any positive result and even a loss 2-1 if it meant we went through on away goals. The important thing is not how we play, just that we get through!}

Believable27 Unbelievable2

I think if we score first that should be enough for us. the clean sheet will prove clinical..

{Ed022's Note - If we nick an away goal I will relax a bit more. If they score, especially first then I worry how the boys...and most of them are boys will react. We will need a maturing boys into men performance with Vermaelen being a rock again at the back. Sagna being the best RB in the premier league. Djourou staying injury free and having a good game. Szczesny playing well again. RVP being a talisman and scoring. Walcott playing well and causing the defence problems with his pace. Ramsey and Song defending for their lives. Gervinho playing well and supporting RVP. If all this happens we'l be fine!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

What you mean if we nick an away goal? We are playing at the Emirates and a 2-1 lose will mean we go out lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi. Remember that game we played at the Emirates against Udinese a little while back? I think (don't quote me) that they call that a 'Home Leg'. When we play in Udinese TONIGHT, that's the away leg. There's a really useful website called 'Wikipedia'. Perhaps go there and enter 'Football'.

{Ed022's Note - I love it when someone tries to correct me and gets it horribly wrong. I felt sorry for them in the end but feel you've summed it up nicely. It summation, a 2-1 loss is STILL good enough to go through... Lol!}

I'm good friends with an ex-Arsenal player, who stays in touch with one of the Arsenal scouts. Cannot disclose either names of these two.
However, interestingly, Wenger has put in bids in the excess of £30m each for two players, which were laughed off. No named players I'm afraid but you can imagine these are big names. Just putting it out there, as Wenger clearly isn't afraid to bid big.
Mock this comment all you like, but I do own a respectable, big Arsenal blog, and I do not want to name any names.

Believable15 Unbelievable35

Hopefully something comes off mate, Arsenal are, as per their manager's own confession, no longer a big club.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has already stated that he wants players who are committed long term to the club.

I cant think of Sneijder being one of them.

The only other player worth over that fee is Tevez and its unlikely city will sell him to us.

I would suggest wenger buy a Defender like cahill.

Agree0 Disagree0

We all want and need these players but cant help thinking this is all the "Kronke Factor". Typical yanks coming over ere stealing our profits and not re-investing in "OUR CLUB".
It all makes sense. If not why would someone so astute and intelligent as Wenger put himself and the rest of us through all this grief. He is too loyal and proud to blame the board, but I dont believe he has the money backing we all think. If he did surely he would have signed Cesc's replacement before he left? And Clichy's Would'nt he ?? And now Nasri ?? We knew all these players were going two months ago

NO MONEY Hence all the small buy's once again 60 mil on two players do me a favour. Not the Arsene I know

Agree0 Disagree0

Any ideas who the players were?

I'm not going to name names. Ed, if you want verification on names then send me your email address and I'll email you from my blog email with names. At least that way you can have some sort of verification.
It's true guys. If I was going to post a fake rumour then I'd spice it up a bit :)

{Ed022's Note - I cant contact you on here as I don't have your email address. Send your email to the rumours form and I will email you.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If he is willing to bid £30m for anybody why didn't we simply sign Mata for £25m - looks a good deal to me ?

{Ed022's Note - I feel Mata is going to be another "one that got away" player and I rate him very highly. I watched him at the Euro under 21s and he ran the show and was one of the players of the tournament.}

Agree0 Disagree0

You're talking crap. The MOST AW Has put forward in a bid this whole silly-season is 26m for Hazard.

I work AT Highbury House and give David O'Leary info over Twitter; which beats your blog and knowing a former player story.

-AIH

Agree0 Disagree0

We were gazumped yet again for Mata ... same as Smalling ... same as Essien ... etc.

It's not that we don't bid enough, it's that other clubs offer slightly more as a transfer fee but much greater wages. Mata, like Nasri, wants to make nbig money ... can we really blame them ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably a £30m bid for Messi and Ronaldo so when when the transfer window closes Wenger can claim we were close to signing them.

Agree0 Disagree0

The board said they wouldnt give wenger money unless we had guarenteed cl next year

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2011 16:34:24
Wenger has got a few tricks up his sleeve, with the likes of Mata, Vidal and Ricky Alvarez etc. I think his plan was to put a measly bid in to make other clubs jump in and get their players so he's got space to play with the market, so we will have next to no competition for Hazard's signature. He also also freed up squad space and wage bill with the departures of a few players.

The last part of the plan is to qualify, then he can go on a signing spree, mark my words

Essex Gunner

Believable28 Unbelievable21

The only problem with that plan is that qualifying hangs in the balance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well when the man himself seems distraught and lost...he seems to have convinced you into some sort of a plan.

Well whatever keeps you smiling i guess...but i would suggest you get to grips with reality that we will play with what we have

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice to see someone thinking outside the box on this one.
It sounds very believable,but I think it all hinges on CL qualification.

{Ed022's Note - My sauces indicate that if we qualify then a deal is pretty much going to be concluded. We shall see...}

Agree0 Disagree0

I like it...I hope your right mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like a risky strategy to me.
Hope he has some back up plans too in case we don't make. just to make sure we secure 4th this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Even IF we do bid for hazard do you really think that would stop Man City from bidding?

{Ed022's Note - After signing Nasri where the hell would he play??}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed022 - I hope your sauces are not the 57 varieties - in theory we should have £30M + £35M + £24M = £89M to spend on transfers less £12M already spent, so £77M of a Transfer kitty if you believe Gazidas and press reports of the board sanctioning the spending of the money from Cesc and Nasri. So cocievably we should be able to afford Hazard, Cahill and another £20M player or two £10M players and still have money left for wages. I forgot to count Eboue and hopefully Bendtner's fees also - maybe another £12M ... maybe we shouldn't be thinking doom and gloom ... pity we have Utd so early after losing to Liverpool ... just hope we get past Udinese ... we deserve a break

Agree0 Disagree0

Re Ed022's note....I have heard of looking into the future through the dregs of a teapot but through 'sauces' is a new one 'Sources' me thinks....no offence intended but made me laugh

{Ed022's Note - You're obviously not a "regular" because I have put "sources" on a number of occasions when I know/hear things. I put "sauces" when I cannot confirm stories. I have also mentioned my sauces names being BBQ or Tomato...No offence taken. None intended back...}

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence taken Ed022 - I read the rumours on a regular basis but you're correct in saying I'm not a regular as I have only just started to post. I think I'm like the majority of Gooners here ... sitting patiently and waiting to see what happens and hoping and praying for the best. I'm not an "In Wenger we trust" disciple but I sure am a Gooner who supports our team and Manager through thick and thin ... all the rubbish and ridicule written about him in the press and crap on the TV media sickens me ... could SAF, Mourinho or Pep have achieved as much without the help of their financial sugar daddies ... no f*@**g way. Some Gooners must have short memories and weak commitment ...

In my opinion, one of the worst starting teams we may field in the past decade not taking into consideration Carling Cup teams.

Essex Gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

8 of these 11 will easyli be in a normal starting 11, no drama, enough to qualify BUT then we need to buy

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really tbh. Jenkinson and miquel look alright, mind you lacking in experience. Frimpong is a talent from what ive seen so him and song would add a bit of much needed agression. We all know about ramsey and how good he can be. Gervinho was quiet against udinese last time round but he should be ok and arshavin i thought was one of our best players in the piss poor liverpool game. Sagna's looking good and tv5 and rvp should be back. Keeping optimistic here....
Another essex gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Switch rvp with ramsey and put walcot up front

Agree0 Disagree0

Excuse me? arshavin one of the best players against liverpool? All i saw him do was huff and puff and then give the ball back to liverpool...

{Ed022's Note - Arshavin was only the best player against Liverpool when he scored 4 goals and even then thats ALL he did...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but LAST week... :@

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey the russian set our most dangerous chance for van persie. he's played in a wrong position if you ask me. quality player

Agree0 Disagree0

Djourou is going to be fit isnt he? {Ed022's Note - He trained today and is in the squad for tomorrow.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow Ramsey in the hole, we are doomed :), like someone said Walcott up from and RVP in the hole will be much better. bench Arshavin for a few

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the team will be -
Szcesney
Sagna song vermaelen traore
King Frimpong Ramsey
Gervinho Rvp Arshavin
Walcott
At least that's what I want to see. As for Sunday -
Szcesney
Jenkinson Koscielney Vermaelen Sagna
Ramsey Rosicky
Walcott Arshavin Miyaichi
Rvp
But to be honest our team is going to be much like the scoreline, IT COULD BE ANYTHING.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stuff that.

----------------Szczesny--------------
Jenkinson--Djourou--Vermaelan--Sagna-
------------Frimpong--Song-----------
Gervinho-------Van Persie------Miyaichi
----------------Walcott---------------

And if frimpong gets booked, sub him instantly for Ramsey

{Ed022's Note - Miyaichi played a full 90mins for Arsenal reserves today. He will not start the game tomorrow. He may not be in the matchday squad as he was in Wigan til 5pm tonight. He will fly out and a decision will be made. Best case, a late sub appearance I reckon...}

This will happen on Thursday, feelers have already gone out for these players

Sebastian Coates to sign for £10 million,
Vertonghen to sign for £10m
Cissokho to sign for £7m
Parker Loan for £2m
Hazard to sign for £30m
Zarate to sign for £10m
All after Weds nights win
Squad will be
Szchesny/fabianski
Sagna/Jenkinson
Verm/ Kos
Vertonghen/Coates
Cissokho/Gibbs
Song/Frimpong
Parker/ Rambo
Jack/Rosicky
Hazard/Ryo
Walcott/ Arshavin
RVP/ Chamakh
£10m Bendy, £1m Manuel, Squids free, still to go, total spend £70m
Total in incl (Cesc/Nasri/Eboue £62m)
£73million
£69m spent £4m profit, war chest not touched money for january competition in all places

Believable14 Unbelievable39

And how do you know that?

Agree0 Disagree0

Coates & Zarate are not on your second list.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard is not signing, lille have confirmed he's going nowhere. Be good if he did but I very much doubt he will.

Romford Gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

Vertonghen for only £10m on which planet?

{Ed022's Note - He is available for around that price. Lets not forget Vermaelen was signed (from Ajax, the same club in question) for €10 million, rising to €12 million, which given current exchange rates is a maximum of £10.47m. Meaning the planet that this is happening on is Earth...}

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see all of these players coming in there is only a week left to sign them
we could do with at least 1 defender maybe 2, 2 midfield and pos 1 forward
still keeping my fingers crossed for any of Vertonghen/Jags/Cahill/Samba
Hazard + Martin
and Zarate

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't wait for CrossRoss to see this...

Agree0 Disagree0

We will see, without repeating what ed keeps saying, we have to win tomorrow-

I hope there is some good away support for tomorrow's game, they need all the help we can give them.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you believe this you are as deluded as Arsene Wenger. Kronke and the gang will NOT let him have enough money to spend. He has used it to finance his yankie empire.

It's harsh but true. Mark my words we will see him bring in ONE defender and a cheap one at that.

That will be it before our season is over in January and we have to reconsider buying the players we needed LAST YEAR let alone now

Agree0 Disagree0

Let me conclude your post...

and finally zarate will play for the reserves

Agree0 Disagree0

And apparently Gervinho will be joining Zarate in the reserves?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sebastian Coates will sign for Liverpool

Please post this Being reported that Wilshere suffered an injury to his ankle in training this morning and will be out for a considerable about of time. No idea if this is true, lets pray not.

Believable22 Unbelievable9

Wilshire has suffered an achillies injury and will be out for a minimum 2 months could be the whole season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Find that hard to believe as Wilshire didn't train today

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger confirmed in a video on the Arsenal Player today that Wilshere suffered a setback yesterday in training. He doesn't say what's wrong or how long he'll be out.

Monkey

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger says he will be out for another 2 weeks. Knowing us though thats his season over

insists he wanted a resolution to the matter earlier in the summer.

SO THEY ARE AT LOGGER HEADS, EXPECT WENGER SACKED IF WE FAIL TOMMOROW NIGHT...

I DONT WANT IT TO HAPPEN BUT I FEEL IT WILL

Sorry Cap Lock on :(

Believable14 Unbelievable28

The board wont sack Wenger. He will more likely walk end of season if he fails/we fail.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope they wont, don't want it to happen myself....

Agree0 Disagree0

They wont sack Wenger, and he will buy players
yes all of us fans are nervous about this year with so many top players going but Wenger will buy, and new the players with out the passion to play 4 us have gone we can build team spirit and when new faces come in the fans need to get behind the team and we will then do well this year

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate, but try telling our Boo Boys that, the same "APPARENT" fans who booed our players off the pitch in the last 2 games, WELL DONE LADS, what did you achieve, absolutely nothing except dent the lads confidence going into the biggest match in recent memory?? Is it the players who hold transfer negotiations on behalf of AFC, NO, so cop on and grow up....

Do yourselves a favour and just simply don't turn up if your going to boo

Agree0 Disagree0

Why, does the boo'ing spoil your tv viewing?

Agree0 Disagree0

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Not only do you suck for using caps lock, but you also suck because you don't support the lads.

about 45 million still to spend
who?
the only way the people will trust arsene is that we should get some one like snieder from inter very doubtfull but think about him and van persie plus he wants to leave inter so van persie could persuade him to come like torres done to mata to get him at chelsea

Believable3 Unbelievable31

Van persie and sneijder dont speak

Agree0 Disagree0

If you supplement Wesley's wages then he might come. Arsenal would prob struggle to pay half so you'd have to stump up about £100,000 per week. Otherwise forget him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think response one really says all there is to say. They don't like each other AT ALL, so this wil not happen. End of

Agree0 Disagree0

So wrong it's not even wrong
We can't afford his wages and RVP can't stand him. Apart from that, great plan

this hurts so much, why are the board doing this to us, how can we compete with the other big clubs if all our best players leave. what a joke our club has become.

Believable50 Unbelievable5

Joke is the word - season over before the end of August - marvellous I feel for all those poor people who have been duped by the board in to renewing season tickets. Ever since Stan Kroenke took over, the club have fallen apart.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop the melodramatic nonsense We all knew Nasri was leaving, this changes nothing Players WILL come in, calm down ladies for gods sake....

Agree0 Disagree0

Well im glad i didnt renew...no point feeling ripped off in your wallet and your heart.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great support chaps, 2 games gone and youre writing us off already Go and support Samir and him money hungry friends

Agree0 Disagree0

Duped by the board into renewing season ticket, novel concept supporting a football club is it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mummy mummy help, those bigger boys wont let me kick the ball ...

Pah Go join sami the turncoat if all you're innarested in is spending £££.

Season over?

I suspect that purity of this 'Arsenal' page is being regularly polluted by lesser team share holders - er, I mean, "fans".

Anyone who has a cheap season ticket going can accept payment and a rail pass to manchester.

If you really do support the Gunners, them take a step back and look at yer knickers, twisted around yer ankles and think whether this is the image you wish to project and represent Arsenal with.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool fan in peace here:

Come on you Gunners don't write your great team off just yet. So you lost two players, I hope that Mr Wenger goes out and buys to more great ones and you get back to being the great footballing side that we all love to watch.
I feel for what you going through as we went through similar last year.
Us Reds should stick together

Best wishes

John

Agree0 Disagree0

Man i soo hope liverpool win the damn league if we cant...just to piss the mancs...

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers John.Nice touch.
For all the Gooners pi**ing and moaning,sort it out Big players have left before and if you think Wenger has nothing up his sleeve you really have no clue.Get behind your team for christ sake...you really have no idea how lucky you are.We have a great team and a great club...respect that.

Kal The Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Kal The Gooner is spot on we need to get behind the club and be positive.
yes there is only a week left to buy players but Wenger knows what he is doing and must have players he wants to bring in, its just a case of getting them. But all the stuff that is happening on and off the field will bring the players together 4 a new era.
And when new faces come in Im sure all the fans will unite

Agree0 Disagree0

Hick's and Gillett come to mind readin about your board

Agree0 Disagree0

Been a gooner for 5o years. Seen good and some not so good times,but afc has always been top flight 90% of the time. so we have'nt won anything at all for 6 years. Chelsea have'nt won sod all for 52 years till resently. Same has man city 32 years. Give Arsene sum credit he has done more for this club than any other manager. Yeah agree he has lost the plot some what but lets see what happens I love this club, but it seems some of you are very new to football.

PS putting this to mature gooners if Arsene goes denise berkhamp manager. George Graham to take Pat Rices place.

{Ed022's Note - Denise Berkhamp? Is she the best foreign import signed by Arsenal in the modern era? Up there amongst the greats such as Patrica Vieira and Tiara Henry...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why? because they are thieves and liars and only interested in the value of their shares. Getting a bit bored of all those 'proper' supporters having a pop at anyone that criticises what is going on. Grow up - get a reality check.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really respect the comment from John the liverpool fan and totally agree with the comment hoping they win the league if we can't, just a few signings 2 maybe 3 before the season give us fans something even if its not players that we really want (benzema, kaka) we have to be realistic. Lets get behind the team tomorrow whoever wears our shirt now at least we know their heart is in it when they play, have pride that you support a team run in the right fashion, stand side by side cheer on the boys, we are arsenal, super arsenal never forget that :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Support the club. Stop the nonsense.

If you don't want to support Wenger, go join Man City like the other traitors.

Yh wenger is going to natwest and withdraw 40m
it is not wengers fault

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not Wenger dude....its the Board...pls keep up people..

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying it is Wengers fault and I feel very sorry for the guy but I also dont think its the Board's fault either. You shouldnt believe all you read, the fact is we've been caught napping and should have tied Nasri up at the start of last season especially with team's like City sniffing around with their money - Cesc was always going this year. I believe we are just trying to get players at the very best price and because of that have lost out all all of them so far as other teams are far more decisive with their targets. Anyway lets just pray we get through tom and look on the bright side, we could be Spurs fans....

we are selling club,sell for 70 mil buy for 10 milions,i hate what the board didi to my arsenal

Believable34 Unbelievable11

What the hell is going on? Why is there not a yellow bar across the bottom of the screen on ssn saying breaking news Arsenal in talks with so and so or whats his name having medical at Arsenal? It's bordering on the ridiculous now, how can we compete when 3 of our guaranteed starters go and are not replaced at all? This is the 1st time for over 10 years i believe we will not compete for the title Sad days

Munnster

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree it is worrying.
But i firmly believe that signings will come after the CL Udinese game. The outcome of this game will dictate the quality of players..
If we lose...then we get descent players but no superstar quality...if we win..expect some great signings (as Great players want CL football).
Lets wait and see.....nail biting few days

Agree0 Disagree0

As a Liverpool fan I can almost feel your pain. For years under Hicks and Gillette they ran a sell high buy low policy which for business is good but for on the pitch competing, it did not work. Out went Alonso 28m, Mascherano 25m, nearly Reina and in came Aqualani 20m(and injured), Konchesky 4m(also 2 decent youth players to Fulham) and Poulson half a curly wurley and a packet of love hearts(even then we were ripped off).
There is still time and I believe that you will get people in, if you like you can have Joe Cole…..really just have him, I will drive him there myself….anyone, he's English and enjoys long walks and doing tricks at all the wrong times during a game. Did I say he’s English, he must be good.

Bendnter is next out the door, by the weekend. Squillaci soon after. True story

Believable34 Unbelievable11

They would of both gone last week or the week before if we could find a buyer

Agree0 Disagree0

Bendtner has been left out of the CL squad.... So has Lansbury

Agree0 Disagree0

There was a rumour posted (Elsewhere)just before the transfer window open, claimed we did a deal with Lille for Eden Hazzard with Squillaci as part of the deal. I didn't think it would happen because we bought Gervinho.

Hey, you never know

Mourinho wants out of Madrid because he feels the board arent backing him. Eh...right, one obvious solution comes to mind. Bring him in to Arsenal and get him to take Benzema and Kaka with him and send Wenger to Madrid and get him to take squillaci and Bentdner with him.

If only.

Believable39 Unbelievable8

That's genius mate, get rid of three useles t**ts in one go

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance he wants to Manage Man Utd

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho will not leave madrid until he beats barcelona and a champions league would be handy...but his dream right now is to get rid of barcelona...

he's soo far managed to outplay them...but hes not managed to stop messi who has been playing out of this world...

i saw the gamper game yesterday...he made it look soo simple...i maybe in love with his feet right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more, although at the moment we are struggling to get a team out and can hardly fill the bench so better to keep the rubbish than have nothing at all

Agree0 Disagree0

You do realise Madrid is a bigger club than utd.

If he does come to england it will be to city...where he has funds to bring whichever player he wants...who know maybe chelsea again.

Agree0 Disagree0

He would be rubbish at Arsenal.

BORING BORING ARSENAL comes to mind

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Why the "strawberry" would we ever want a "cabbage" like Mourinho at arsenal, he would most likely demand a huge war chest to spend and probably still would win sweet "potato" all.

Let the mancs have the "lemon"

CT

{Ed022's Note - I understand the passion and feeling CT but I have changed a few swear words to fruit or vegetables to sensor your post slightly but still giving the view...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho's prefernces are to work with clubs with ALOT of money..thats where he finds success. (Apart from Porto)
If you want a manager who cant seem to get creativity out of the most creative team on paper (Madrid & Chelsea)...turn them into a defensive kicking machine (a team of PEPE's and Mikels) and win trophies then so be it.

Yes he wins trophies..but will you remember a Barca trophy or a madrid trophy as a fan. I think Barca everytime as they play the nice football. Plus i think he's a bit of a "person" in terms of personanilty. {Ed022's Note -

ed what is the chances of offloading squilacii

benjamin

(sorry for confusion ben im a first time poster and i never knew someone went under the name of ben until i scrolled down sorry for the confusion)

{Ed022's Note - You try selling a comodity that no-one wants and let me know how you get on?? Why in their right mind would anyone buy a player who has been shown up for being slow, old and a poor defender? Just cant see it happening and the most likely outcome is selling him back to Sevilla I would say. Or releasing him on a free...}

Believable13 Unbelievable3

I think we should loan him to a club who are in desperate need and hope that is adds the slightest bit of value to him, then sell him as soon as we can. Right now he has no value because he hardly ever plays and when he does he's shocking.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll buy him - and use him as a door-stop.

{Ed022's Note - He'l probably slowly fall over and let the door shut...}

Departed;

Eboue
Clichy
Denilson
Emmanuel-Thomas
Fabregas
Nasri
Vela

Say £70m

In

Gervinho
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Campbell
Jenkinson

Say £26m

We have £44m surplus, without the club giving Wenger anything to spend.

Please tell me we have at least 3 players on the way...

Believable27 Unbelievable6

And so is Denilson

Agree0 Disagree0

Vela on loan, not sold

Agree0 Disagree0

We'd have to hope so, but I wouldn't be shocked if those greedy mugs expected Wenger to work his magic and ensure top 4 with this current squad. I think the only way they'll get the message is if we fail to progress in Italy tomorrow and slide down the PL table.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not happy with selling Nasri to city, but don't want the club to lose any matches, if you want us to not progress to cl groups stages, you are not a true fan.

Agree0 Disagree0

The cash available in Arsenal Group Holdings is much more than that about 4 times that amount - they have just become a property company with a football team attached

Agree0 Disagree0

Vela & Denilson are loans, but I stated departed, not sold. The receivable funds are only guesstimates for the players that are or will be sold. You can also probably add Bendtner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lyon want 10m for cissokho, get him in cahill, moussa sow, m'villa and martin.

would love this personally, I suppose we can dream though :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Our board put that remaining money into their pockets. Its gone

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you all so sure its the board stopping the spending, as Arsene famously was asked "what would you do if a billionaire owner gave you £100 million and told you to spend it?" his answer as we all know was "give it back". Now I don't expect the board are blameless, but neither is Wenger

We have agreed a fee with Bolton to sign Cahill. Paperwork on the way to Allen & Overy Solicitors. Should be completed in time for the Man United match.

Believable24 Unbelievable31

Good news if true but we certainly should have had this done at least before Wednesday given Koscielny's injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will have saved a couple of months wages, plus the fee will no doubt be less than the £17m Bolton were quoting. The negotiation will have been extremely tough, but the timing is perfect as it gives Bolton time to spend the funds.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think u will find the paperwork would go to Linklaters or Clyde & Co rather than A&O... Why lie about things like that at a time like this. Edd, block his IP Add please. full of it

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you will find Cahill is signing & the lawyers will be Allen & Overy. Block my IP? Why would they do that for stating a fact on a rumour site? Grow up

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually believe this because Arsenal are now 1/3 favs from 13/8 and Poll are now 2/1 from 1/2

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the transfer may happen... but this rumour is a lie. I genuinely believe NObody will be signed untill after wednesday. Its too much of a big game for there to be any distractions, and arsene wants to be involved in every part of every transfer.

Agree0 Disagree0

The club is represented by Slaughter & May...

Agree0 Disagree0

I will repeat again Cahill is on his way & the lawyers will be Allen & Overy for this transaction. Two further players are on their way as well....

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the mistake everyone is making is that the writer doesnt state whom Allen & Overy are representing, hence the confusion. There are two more players on the way..... Trust Arsene, you will be very surprised.

Agree0 Disagree0

Our club maybe but what about Boltons?

Agree0 Disagree0

Each player will be represented by an agent who in turn are represented by a lawyer so could very well be Allen & Overy. Arsenal have their own lawyers for matters regarding the board etc but this could very well be true. Lets wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

If I receive an apology from the person that bad mouthed me, I can also reveal the two startling purchases.

{Ed022's Note - Tell us pretty please! Give us hope!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry for the insult. Just sick of the false rumours

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply to the first response, it wouldn't make any difference having Cahill or anyone else signed before Wednesday, the squad for Wednesday has to be the same as that from the first leg. We can remove players (eg Nasri) but not add.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not true we added Ryo Miyachi to the squad...

{Ed022's Note - The Provisional squad is: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Djourou, Sagna, Traore, Arshavin, Frimpong, Ramsey, Song, Rosicky, Walcott, Van Persie, Fabianski, Chamakh, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho, Miquel.

Miyaichi played 90minutes for Arsenal reserves in Wigan. The game finished just before 4pm. Arsenal flew out from Stansted at 130pm. The above is an 18 man squad (which doesn't have Nasri.) I don't expect Miyaichi to fly out alone to Italy after playing today. He will be in the squad for Man Utd. Even if he does join up with the squad then don't expect anything more than a late sub appearance if anything.}

why do people want bergkamp as wengers eventuall successor? he hasnt got any experience as a manager and he would have a problem travelling to away games. i love bergkamp and hes a legend but he wouldn't be on my list of potential wenger replacements.

Believable16 Unbelievable19

I have not seen many people wanting Bergkamp, he would be best as an assistant anyway, to van Basten

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont want AW to go but Bergkamp could bring alot to our dressing room and play on the pitch. He wouldnt come in as AWs successor but might be nice to see him as Pat Rice's successor.

Pull it together...lets go..

lakerville.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seal the deal, lakerville, no one will if you dont..

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair tho, what do lille expect to do in the champs league ??? any pro would join arsenal over lille. ppl seem to think were gonna get relegated. if ppl lay off, i expect wenger to steady the ship. lighten up folks, ur a gooner fs

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand people are surprised Hazard would be hesitant to join when our CL qualification is in such a precarious position. Sure Arsenal has a much richer history than Lille, but our future is rather unsure. He would certainly feel like he'd made a huge mistake if we failed to progress into the group stages. I trust our current group of players to beat or at least draw with Udinese tomorrow, but I can't fault any potential transfer targets for wanting to wait until at least Thursday before committing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think there is any presenter at talksport radio who supports arsenal, infact most of their discussion about arsenal is negative.

BBC now reporting Arsenal are ''eyeing Hazard'' This is not in the gossip collum but from an actual BBC report. Things looking promising on that front. From what i infer from the interviews of Arsene i think he'll sign him. Let's just beat the Italians tommorow first though Nice to see you back Ed022.

Ben

{Ed022's Note - Nice to be back Ben and I echo your sentiments of beating the Italians. I think I will be biting my nails and going grey...}

Believable13 Unbelievable10

Talksport are reporting that he has said he will not be leaving this summer

fozzybear

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha yeah ed it will be tense but I have a feeling we'll really turn up and play beautifully to kickstart our season.

To the guy with the talksport story: Mata said he'd stay at Valencia and win trophies with the Spanish team this season, and looked what happened. Did he stay? No. Talksport report 100% rubbish anyway.

Ben

{Ed022's Note - I'd snap anyones hand off for a 1-1 or 0-0 draw. I'd even accept 2-1 loss and going through on away goals. Either way it'll be tight!}

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon we can grab a 1-1..... Atleastr... If we do expect a mental couple of days at the Emirates All the "apprent" sources will be flowing

Ed is this true, Heard this this morning not sure if i beleive it and how we can afford his wages, we are looking to put a bid in for Basian Schweinstiger, its probably just me being gullible and desperate for a new force in the midfeild.

{Ed022's Note - Bastian Schweinsteiger is about as likely as Wesley Sniejder I am afraid...}

Believable4 Unbelievable30

Plus he is cup tied for European games, so NO. Forget it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh i posted that and didnt think it was true either but just wanted to see what you thought there might be any truth in it or any one else had heard it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Such nonsense. We will sign 2 players at best. One a CB, possibly Jagielka (hopefully not). Ideally Cahill. Second signing will be an offensive midfield player, only if as seems likely Nasri departs. Probably Hazard. Outside chance of a striker arriving. Dont forget, when fit we have Abu Diaby, Wilshere as well as Ramsey & Rosicky for the attacking central midfield roles.

Agree0 Disagree0

You mention Diaby and Rosicky in the same sentence with the word fit, have you watched us in the last 3/4 years, you cannot get three games in arow from these two. They should have been sold ages ago. Rosicky was never fit when he played in Germany. Diaby when fit is lazy and inconsistent. Get rid if we want to get back to where we were five years ago. We have morew players injured than just about all the other prem teams put together - what is going on at AFC ?

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not think that Rosicky & Abu Diaby are the answer for a minute, but I am suggesting Wenger's thoughts. Hence we will make 2, maybe an outside chance of 3 signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

8 days left - 0 signings

I still expect some action after the CL qualifier.

I hope we get the CB, MC promised and one ST - probably Zarate or expect a surprise like Doyle, Rodallega. 3 players for sure, even if we don't qualify for CL.

Romanian Gooner (this is an update started on Monday, and will continue until the end of the TW, and is considering only the signings done after the Liverpool game, as they are the ones that count for improving the team now).

Believable8 Unbelievable14

No 4 signings

Carl Jenkinson
Alex Oxlaide Chamberlian
Gervinho
Joel Campbell

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, I am also waiting for additional signings of course but it is hardly 0 signings - Gervinho, Jenkinson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Miyaichi. That's 4, add another 3 (as I believe) and we've had a busy summer as promised. The identity of next 3 depends on CL qualification.

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see anybody being signed until after wednesday

Agree0 Disagree0

Morning Romanian Gooner... I know you said you'd do this and I understood why but by posting this yday, today and tomorrow you're just stoking a fire that we all want to extinguish. There won't be ANY signings until after Weds so why don't you just do this at that point?

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Raz, i understand your point, but I just want to do it, to show how pathetic we are in the TM. People will expect signings on Thursday-Friday, but honestly, I expect none, so that is why I made a plea to post everyday an update, because until 31st, I truly believe I will write the same thing - 0 signings.

And for the morons that posted above, about the 4 signings, please read my post and the brackets, you ignorants. Today I've put the explanation in so you would get it, but you still don't get it. I don't care about those kids Wenger signed and about the three match ban Gervinho who has yet to show something in a competitive match, except a slap and a red card. Until now, they have showed nothing and they are not what we need now. We need experienced players who can step into the side for the United game for example. We need a CB to fill the boots for Kosser in Old Trafford, we need a play maker to replace Cesc and Nasri, and we need a striker on the long run to help Persie, cause our other strikers aren't inspired at the moment. We need many more, but those are priorities, a LB is much needed also, but the french will not buy one, we need an exp keeper (saw Brad F last night for Spurs - class) and we clearly need a strong DM to push Alex Song and to be a role model for the unpolished Frimpong, who will be massive in 1-2 seasons, but not now (first game, first red card) cause there is to much pressure on him.

We need some bloody signings and that is the reality that everyone can see except our management, sorry

Keep the faith

Romanian Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Players like Doyle and Rodalega are not good enough for Arsenal full stop, why not get Rankin and Hawley back - lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Raz you are right in what you say, also arsenal supporters would like to see one defender and one midfielder who will have an impact on the TEAM not the squad - i would go for the german per mertsacker (70 odd german caps) and kaka on loan for one season, two players with enormous amount of experience at ALL levels

Agree0 Disagree0

the reason arsenal never signed mata is the club think very highly of oxlade chamberlaine,which goes with arsene saying he,ll only buy if he feels they are better than he has.also the have the kid from feyenord who you,ll all be drooling over soon.

{Ed022's Note - The kid from Feyernood? Do you mean Miyiachi who we loaned to Feyernood but actually signed from Chūkyōdai Chūkyō High School. He is being touted as the Japanese Messi... We shall see...}

Believable23 Unbelievable11

Yes lets wait 3 years for chamberlain to turn into a poor mans mata...but a rich mans walcott...

and miyachi is class ive seen him training...hes mental on the ball...

So officially:

Mario Goetze - German Messi
Marvin Martin - french messi
Miyachi - japanese messi
Nuri Sahin - turkish messi
errikson - danish messi
Walcott - English messi
Neymar - brazilian messi
Ronaldo - portuguese messi

but fact...barcelona have the real messi.

{Ed022's Note - Wilshere is clearly the English Messi...}

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason Arsenal never signed Mata is because once we were interested, so were richer clubs, they came along, turned his head, offered him ridiculous wages, guaranteed him glory, probably told him Arsenal are going nowhere, and we lost out because our board will not compete on the fee and wage front.

{Ed022's Note - This is also why we lost out on players such as Ronaldo, Alonso, Reina, Lukaku, Silva, Benzema, Dzeko etc... Unfortunately, as it stands, we will just have to accept we cant compete with Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and other top clubs in Europe such as Barca and Real Madrid.}

Agree0 Disagree0

You missed one

spare ribs - very Messi.

Rob G

{Ed022's Note - Stag weekends - Always Messi...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Juan Mata has said himself he turned down arsenal to join chelsea.

Big players a scared to come to us at the moment. We need to show a lot bigger incentive than we are. Can't sell your best 2 players and draw and lose your first two games.

Seriously, i just need these 8 days too hurry up so we can focus on the football again

Agree0 Disagree0

Indeed given the choice of a club which consistently build its squad, or one which consistently sells and buys unproven players, where would you choose to go? Lets be honest here squad players at Liverpool, Tottenham, ManU all get paid less than they would at Arsenal, and they have no problem getting players

Agree0 Disagree0

Has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with wages. - Simple fact, Mata is ONLY Getting ( "only" as in terms of a footballer) £55k PW.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he was being dubbed ronaldinho

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought we where gonna play him in the sort of cam roll? if i am wrong and and we were going to play him on the wing, why are we still looking at the likes of hazard if we have ryo and aoc? Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

As we all know the "one for the future" only works if he eventually integrates into a mature successful team alongside veterans. A team of kids doesn't work. At this rate by the time AOC and Ryo are playing full time we will have in all likelyhood lost RVP, Wiltshire, Verminator etc to a club offering a more successful career if the squad isnt improved. I dont like this at all but I fear it happening.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2011 08:36:52
Inside news seems to be that none of the current targets are willing to sign untill they see if Arsenal can promise Champions League football. These players are Martin, Hazard, M'vila and too a lesser extent Jagielka.

I have a few people in the know at Arsenal who i do at times liaise with due to my work.

If Arsenal fail to overcome Udinese, then Arsene must look at new targets and he will have only a few days to do so. He has told the board who these players are aswell and although not big names, still good enough to keep the squad going. These players are Parker and Jarvis. Jagielka is still a likely signing, but the problem isn't Champions League football its the fact he loves Everton, and won't push for a move unless they agree to sell him.

Zarate has been contacted but a deal is still far from complete, Champions League football has no impact on his signing by the way.

I've tried to find out if any of the bigger names will at all sign on with only Europa football, and although not out of the question Martin is the only one who has not ruled it out. Hazard and M'Vila will not move if Arsenal fail.

Will be talking to one of the lads in a few days in regards to some work im doing and will try and find out more then.

Atl east we know Arsene is trying.

Believable27 Unbelievable3

He should have tried last year to sign a defender...maybe we could have won it or atleast the 3rd spot.

I think arsene wenger sadly will be sacked this season. what happens to arsenal after that will be unknown...but that is what i feel...just the way things are moving now.

{Ed022's Note - Wenger WILL NEVER be sacked. Wenger (given what he has done for our club) will be allowed to walk away rather than sacking the most successful manager in the clubs 125 year history. The board will not sack him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Finally someone with some sense. I've been saying for a long time that Jarvis is the player Arsenal needs.

Jarvis I believe can replace Nasri
Hazard can replace Fabregas
Bryan Ruiz from FC Twente (although could have complications as he has played against Benfica in Champions League play-offs)
+ 1 preferably 2 centre backs

Agree0 Disagree0

Jarvis?? Reali?? Disappointed wouldn't be a under statement

Agree0 Disagree0

Everything has a breaking or boiling point.

I look at games and see fans chanting home and away...wenger has cut a forlorn figure. Something is stopping him.

I want him to see this through. but without players and the fact that we are going to be rubbish...its only a matter of time.

6 years may not seem alot...but it does when we have a club that can spend with the best but dont. If we had no money we would be behind the team..

fact is if nasri and cesc and all others are sold and no one comes in...its going to go riot...you dont need to be a wizard to know that...especially after the season ticket hike.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jagielka won't come to Arsenal unless we can guarantee Champions League??? Like he would be better off at Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Read what was written, it said to a lesser extent, and also that the reason isn't CL football its his love for everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love Everton, they're my second team after Arsenal who I have supported all my life and always will, but in my ideal world the league would finish Arsenal first, Everton 2nd. I actually don't want us to take any of their players. I want them to do as well as they can. We don't need Jags anyway, we need Distin, Jags for me is like Koscielny and Distin is the kind of CB we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's fault is it we are in this predicament, not ours, blame Wenger and the board, the team has not been kept up to scratch for several years, our form at the end of last season was an utter disgrace, but the club did not care that we let 2nd place go, now we see the folly of the clubs approach, big players waiting to see if we are good enough for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol at all this. You know nobody at Arsenal... I know this how? Zarate signed at 6:45pm last night. £12m 4yr deal... He will be announced Saturday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Original Poster here, In regards to Zarate, you may very well be correct. I spoke to my contacts yesterday morning and only new of talking going on between Arsenal and Zarate. They are not people high on the board but people low down in the coaching staff. I would hardly call them best friends, but work contacts atleast.
If Zarate news is true then thats excellent.

Ed, not sure if its possible, but could you post this in rumours and banter.

I think its time us fans took a stand and tell them what we want.
We need every fan to get hold of any sign any size and right your feelings.

David Dein Back
Gazidis Out.
Usmanov in.
Board out.
Signings: Your choice.

No booing let the signs do the talking

Tommy P

{Ed022's Note - Anything is possible Tommy and even though you didn't say please I have posted this in both rumours and banter because im a bloody nice bloke!}

Believable30 Unbelievable10

Kepp it up Tommy P, tha fans need to speak out. Don't forget, this isn't even about a member or Arsenal staff seing the banner, it's about getting ONE sky TV camera to pan across and then all sorts will break out in the media. No doubt it'll be 'Arsenal falling apart from the inside out' and other such nonsense as the media hates us but trust me if I could get to a game I'd bring a massive banner and I am praying those who can go do the same.

Let's make a change, we pay their damn bills and they owe us big time, and they owe Wenger.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

The stewards in the gound are pretty quick to remove any banner they deem inappropriate, so anything like this is unlikely to make it on screen

Agree0 Disagree0

Not true: what about Man U and the 'get the glazers out' etc, and whichever game it was where a Liverpool fan put a banner up on our side of the stands at Anfield or something. That wasn't even rude and was taken down after a few minutes, but sky were all over it.

We could just all get really depressed and poo poo every decent idea someone has because we'd rather moan about change instead of making it happen...

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't Kroenke own the club though?

{Ed022's Note - He is the majority stakeholder in the club.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Usmanov would be a disaster for the club - do a bit of research into how he has both acquired and maintained his wealth and then think again.

I will not oblige him with a lawsuit by telling of some of the more gruesome details, suffice to say if you think money has been a problem in relation to the running of the football side, then his reign would bring problems in spades.

Do we really want to wash our laundry in public and focus yet more attention away from the decisive unity a team and its support base need?

Be careful what you wish for.

Agree0 Disagree0

With regards to zarate, players leaving serie a just don't cut it more often than not(crespo,veron,kaka) and I for one wouldn't gamble, we do need a striker to take the heat of RVP, benzema is not happening, who else would everybody like to see a gooner?

Italian goon

Believable5 Unbelievable10

And what about Thierry Henry?

{Ed022's Note - Vieira was taken from Serie A side AC Milan. Henry came from Juventus. Both werent making an impact and the Premier league suited both of them far better for their footballing styles. Kaka, Veron and Crespo are better suited to the slower more tactical side of the Italian league.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Zarate has already played in the prem too for birmingham for a few games and was awesome

Agree0 Disagree0

There's exceptions of course, the fact Henry and viera did so well must have something to do with the wenger factor, add shevchenko to list

Ig

Agree0 Disagree0

Zarate played at Birmingham for 14 games and was brilliant, thats why Lazio snapped him up

Agree0 Disagree0

Shevchenko has past his prime when he moves to chelsi.
kaka injury made him not so successful with madrid.
crespo is slow. he only have great header for goal.

bergkamp from intermilan. henry from juve. vieira from acmilan. kanu from intermilan.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to see Darren Bent play for us just think how many goals he would get he is always there or there abouts in the 6yard box and how many times do we see the ball get in there with no1 near it we should of got him a few seasons ago as vila would want too much now .

I love the way that we are known for signing YOUNG taleng. But we still fail to sign the proven talent. We should sign Goetze and Hazard and Subotic.

Tommy P

Believable25 Unbelievable6

I'd think Dortmund have zero interest in selling any players after they just dominated the league and are now in the CL. Especially considering they lost Sahin to Madrid for so little. If there's any chance though, Goetze would be fantastic for us. I'd also much prefer Hummels to Subotic, his reading of the game makes up for alot of Subotic's errors and I feel he'd partner perfectly with Vermaelen's aggressive style.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jags to sign in this night or tommorow, hopefuly hazard and zarate come soon.

Instead of buying baines, vermaelen could play as a LB if injury prone gibbs is out

Believable8 Unbelievable18

Why on earth would we want to play, arguably, our best defender out of position?

Would you play Messi out of position?

It makes no sense. I'll eat my hat if Jags signs tomorrow and plays on Wednesday.

Yeah, I'm thinking Vermaelan to LB, VP to DCM, Jack as a CF target man (Aerial balls only) and Walcott dropping in TV5's place.
Sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure why people are disagreeing w/ Vermaelen at LB. It's his original, original position before playing at CB. He plays LB a lot for his national side, too.

hi, i've posted on here before about my link with usmanov, and told how kroenke rejected his proposal to meet with him, yet it was dismissed as bs. Thought i'd update you on the situation, considering it looks like he can't get a say in arsenal, he's looking to buy West Ham. You heard it here first.

Believable6 Unbelievable22

He'd have to unload his shares in arsenal first, then buy out west ham owners and their debt. Can't see it being a worthwhile investment.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon Usmanov will buy out Kronke. Kronke is not in it for sport but to make money, Usmanov will make him a huge profit next year and then we will have an Arsenal fan with loads of dosh running the club. The downside maybe that the FFP comes in nxt year.

Jakey

Agree0 Disagree0

I too hope Usmanov buys out Stan - lets have a fan who actually attends matches in charge. I doubt Usmanov is blind to fans anger
