Wayne Bridge? Better than Ashley Cole? Have you ever even seen a game of football featuring these two? Ha ha. Better than Cole - sorry thats laughable. Don't get me wrong hes not always awful, but Cole is a fantastic full back despite my bitter biased against him. I really hope we don't sign Bridge, although I would say he'll probably be raring to go and I suppose he could be handy in the short-term. Just don't expect 90 grand a week Bridgey!

Why would he buy a CB when we currently play with a back line of 4 CBs?

We are crying out for a LEFT SIDED FULLBACK not a central defender, the city game was lost because we got shafted on that side.

Koscielny isn't a LB he only played there because there wasn't anybody else.

I see a striker coming in on loan perhaps, and a left back from the continent.

I mean look at the games we have lost, we always get cained on the left because all our left siders are injured.

Arsene has said no CD to be signed so ignore the idea of Verthongen. Will he sign a full back? I don't believe so - he will think he has two right backs and two left so will not sign. The fact that Djorrou is not top class, Mertesacker too slow, Gibbs permanently out injured, Santos looking set to miss most of the rest of the season, Jenkinson too young to throw deep in, and Sagna likely to be slow coming back from a bad injury doesn't matter.

It's almost a must ,Chances of getting either are... But I do think they will solve the problem.
Taiwo is superb but he just need's a chance.
Baines ?? , I don't mind him coming but 15m plus?? When all we need is a rather short term option. Or do we , I was pretty upset with us buying arteta as you might remember but within a day I warmed to the idea and ... He made the step up and maybe baines could only problem is that he might not ... Meanwhile taiwo and vertonghen have valuable experience.
Santos getting out is a blow , He is a joy to watch , I think Edu said he could become a fans favourite and he is spot on . I like the idea of our players having to push each week for a first team place , I doubt arteta is going to roll over when wilshere get's back and I like this mentality . That is why I think that in order to improve the squad and we want to be as good as we can be so....

Alright lads,
Two defenders that we have been linked with the most; Gary Cahill and Jan Vertonghen are both supposedly signing for Chelsea and Newcastle respectively so because we do need defensive reinforcements who would you bring in (obviously apart from the players mentioned above) that are feasible.

read it properly and you will see that i said Cahill will go to Chelsea and Vertonghen will go to Newcastle

I think if you read 89'gooner's post you will see he writes Cahill then Vertonghen then states they will be signing for chelsea and newcastle respectively. so that means cahill to chelsea, vertonghen to newcastle...

Arsene is interested in Vertongen as well, doubt he'll go to Newcastle. Good player but to be honest I'm not sure we need him. Kos/Verm is a first choice pairing any day and Mertesacker is backup. As for fullbacks we should normally be well stocked, we just had bad luck with injury. I don't think we'll buy a defender, perhaps loan one but yeah that's all

Actually in terms of Cahill. AVB has said he is interested but denies the story of a bid. Alex may still have a future. As for Vertonghen, Arsenal, Spuds, NUFC and now allegedly City are ALL interested, nothing concrete yet.
