Diame not starting tonight. that's got to be done deal! Now lets have two more. Villa and Wanyama please.

Maldon Gooner

Believable9 Unbelievable20

Wrong yet again he did start, please stop posting as you have never gotten anything right {Ed001's Note - didn't he come on as a second half sub?}

Agree1 Disagree1

Lol mate, he came on as a sub in the second half. weren't you watching?

Agree1 Disagree0

He did come on quite late in second half, to a good reception from the arsenal fans from where I was sitting anyway.would be a good squad player, but I would say there are better options for a DM, bargain if we do get him for 3.5 though!

Oxford gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Calm down mate..... It's Maldon Gooner and not Malaga, which I think you were implying. Besides, he's right. Diame didn't start, he was sub. So, pipe down pup!

Essex Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Diame and Wanayma would be amazing, invincibles had steel and a lot fo strength, what this current squad lacks greatly

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2013 21:39:13
Arsenal to sign Mohamed Diame and one other, most likely to be a forward or a defender.

Robert Lewandolski
Leighton Baines

Rumours today are that arsenal have rekindled their interest in David Villa. Wenger was talking about players being cheaper in the last few days of the market, arsenal will start off with a bid of 10 million, also other rumours are arsenal will bid 10 million for Wanyama, manchester united are also interested in him, is this true Ed?

Ads 995 {Ed001's Note - that would be rejected anyway, Celtic won't sell for 10m with the Champs League coming up. They don't need the money.}

Believable7 Unbelievable23

What if he hands in a transfer request? {Ed001's Note - why would he? If he did they would sell though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If the player wants the tranfer the move is 75% done and if a good price is bid it might make it happen instead of Celtic keeping a player whose mood dips and loses form.No disrespect to Celtic but Wanyama should jump at the chance of a top EPL club now because your luck can change quickly and the big clubs don't wait about.

Agree0 Disagree0

No way Wanyama will leave Celtic in this window, if he goes to Arsenal or utd he won't play champions league and playing Juventus at Celtic Park would be a dream for him so maybe a summer move for him would be the way to

"M'vila a done deal - this is gospel Ed". Good old Malaga.

Believable12 Unbelievable53

Liar liar he has signed for Ruben, so stop chatting ****'

Agree0 Disagree0

As I have said all along malaga rumours wrong wrong wrong

Agree2 Disagree0

What are you on, your sources are non existant, he has signed with Rubin Kazan, another fake poster who claims to have sources.

Agree0 Disagree0

Classic Malaga lol

Rubin Kazan

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah to russia....

Agree0 Disagree0

He has signed for rubin kazan

Agree0 Disagree0

He is taking the piss out of malaga goners post from last week....

On a serious note, Rubin have a transfer embargo imposed on them by their own FA and yet still sign M'Vila, so if teams don't give a crap now, how will it end up with the new FFP rules.... will they also not pay attetntion

Agree1 Disagree0

Well he didn't say to where, maybe he meant Rubin!

Jovetic likely to move this January as he fears Fiorentina are likely to miss out on champions league again and Juventus are no longer interested as they have set their sights on Lisandro Lopez and Arsenal is likely to be a suitable option since he wants to play in the premier league according to a source close to his agent

Believable22 Unbelievable29

Thought you said he wanted champions league

Agree0 Disagree1

So he won't be coming to arsenal then because we look the same

Agree0 Disagree0

And Arsenal to miss out on UCL place too....so stop dreaming pal!

Agree0 Disagree1

Not sure how good jovetic is although he is young with potential arsenal should also consider wanyama he shows a lot of maturity and authority on the pitch even against barca only 21 yrs old and he is a beast

Agree1 Disagree1

I wonder why we didn't go for lisandro lopez much better goalscorer than his namesake adrian

Italian football site Football Italia reports Arsenal are prepared to pay £20m for Jovetic's services. This, despite the fact that Fiorentina re-iterated Jovetic is off bounds even though they signed Guiseppe Rossi from Villarreal.

Spanish football site Fichajes has it that negotiations are already underway between Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal, and the Gunners want to sign Mats Hummels up as soon as possible. They also note that the asking price is likely to be £17.6m...unlikely but never impossible (fingers and toes crossed)

Believable31 Unbelievable41

Can't see any mention of that on the wesite you mention

Agree1 Disagree0

If we get three key signings in the area's needed we would be a very good team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got my nuts crossed for this one, but can't see us parting with such amounts. Plus he'd be 20+
Butty

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry dude got it off the express website..just see n' p jobbie, don't shoot the messenger ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Add another £10 milliom to Hummels price and we might get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Over £17m for a defender is actually a massive transfer fee. What is the highest paid in the PL? Does anyone know?

Hackney Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Hummels would defo be icing on the cake..id crosd my nuts too, if I had any!

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be Rio to man united for 29 million pounds so still a long way from 17 to that

Agree0 Disagree0

Man you paid 29 mil for Rio Ferdinand. Although that's obviously not the norm.

Isaac Cuenca anyone? May be only available on loan but might just be the ticket we need to bolster the squad for the rest of the season, hopefully qualify for the CL and regain some credibility as a club. Any thoughts on this chap? Seems ripe for the picking

Yoann Gourcuff may come, and Villa and Lopez remain on the list of players Wenger hopes to get, Gourcuff would be great, and is talented too, anyway, looking at the stats of current players, Arshavin still has pretty good ones, I reckon that rather than booing when he plays, it would be better to cheer him, look at Rosicky becoming Mozart again, what do you lot think of giving Thomas Eisfeld a few games?

Believable24 Unbelievable26

Totally agree about Arshavin and Eisfeld....

Kal

Agree3 Disagree0

Eisfeld should be given a chance. However we must buy now, not in the last 48 hrs. AW thinks the longer he leaves it he can get the price down. Come on! In the last 48 clubs know we're desperate and the price gets inflated. Arteta, for instance he's good but 10 million don't think so. 6 months prior I recon we could have got him for 5 maybe 6 mil.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes definately, I've been to see eisfeld a couple times for the under 21s and he looks a real quality player, he has it all in the final 3rd, I think a few games to up his level and pace of play. Also, Arshavin doesn't deserve boos, he deserves cheers, as soon as he buried that winner against barca and boy did he bury it, he became a legend in my book.

Let's all take a massive deep breath shall we before we panic ourselves into full cardiac arrest. Weve got a pretty good idea of how this transfer window will pan out for us. All of the evidence has already been provided by Arsene in the last few months with statements such as "players are cheaper the later you leave it in the transfer window" and " We usually conduct our business in the last 48 hours" so for once I'm not going to wet myself because we haven't signed anyone yet. We have targets lined up I'm sure of that and a strategy is in place to make the signings we need. My only worry would be does this leave us enough time should these targets become unavailable. If this happens than responsibility for player transfers should be taken away from Arsene immediately and I don't think he could have any argument with that

Believable17 Unbelievable15

This is an awful way of doing business, we should have identified targets in December and made bids very early January so the players can be integrated with the squad and playing as soon as possible.

Also, leaving it late doesn't necessarily mean you get them cheaper, if your competing against other teams who are desperate for signings it will only drive the fee up...

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets take a deep breath, calm down and remember this Arsenal. We don't do marquee signings at the beginning, middle or end of the window. Wenger will be gone at the end of this year. Not a great thing in my view but inevitable after the flak he has endured. Don't expect a world class anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is a terrible way of conducting bussiness and listening to an interview yesterday I doubt we'll sign anyone, when asked if we would sign anyone wenger said that "we are trying our best" despite before he said he wanted to sign 2 players, when really they won't sign anyone because he believes to much in a team that aren't good enough and he's not man enough to accept he got it wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not forget that january has a fixture pile up and maybe signings could of been the difference between all the points we have lost

Agree0 Disagree0

If you want a top player you have to pay the dollar for him, his price will not fall whether its the last week last day or last hour. It just goes to show just the type of player who we are in for.

Hi I am completely new to your forum however once read I find I am completely unable to stop looking hourly .

I have heard Mario Goetze was asked about by Arsenal football club this week but MGoetze seemed uneasy to leave Dortmund this month due to the club's ambitions In the Champions League . I guess being cup tied . Is this a sign of things to come where players are no longer Interested In signing for Arsenal ? Of MG's calibre .

I have also heard that with Theo Walcott's contract signed there may not be anything else this January ; It does seem that Theo signing has taped over ( briefly ) the cracks . He Is a good player when consistent but 100 thousand a week ? I'm not so sure . I bet that selling RVP had pressure on AW to make sure he signed and thus, made him the highest paid player ...

I truly believe that significant changes will happen not this month but In July / August .

I do think that If AW doesn't sign an enforcer In midfield we will continue to struggle . M'bwia - I hadn't a clue how good he Is although has taken Koscielny's place recently ... I go back to watching the interview when Vermaelan had left an event ( I cannot remember ) and had just been told about RVP beings sold to Manchester United ... He looked absolutely gutted - Is his heart where It was last season ?

Good on you AW .

Dick Law is in Germany trying to tie up deals for two players, one is Lewandowski and the other one is Luis Gustavo of Bayern, Rosicksy has been offered to Dortmund as part ex with 18 million pounds .

Believable9 Unbelievable21

Sounds like Sep again... Dick Law came back with f-all then!

With the greatest respect we had all this Laws is in Germany tying up deals last summer as the deadline approached, but players like Hummells, Subotic, Lewandowski, Reus, Bender bros, ijust can't see any of these playerscoming to Arsenal

'Lyon expect Yoann Gourcuff to see out the winter transfer window with them, despite reports linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal, who are understood to be long-time admirers of the France international, are once again being credited with holding an interest.

Lyon have admitted that they are open to offers for their most saleable assets, with their recruitment plans dependent on moving players on.'

Another so-called target off the list

Believable5 Unbelievable10

Great! count ourselves lucky. too much injury-prone players in the squad already

edd anychance of veratti {Ed002's Note - Marco Verratti's move to PSG in the summer was unexpected as all indications were for a move to Juventus. I would not expect him to move in January but if he were available there would be plenty of clubs interested, not least his most likely destination Juventus.}

Adrian Lopez says he doesn't take the stories about a move to Arsenal seriously. Says he's "happy and wants to continue in Madrid"

Lol and lopez was meant to be our best chance of a signing.

Believable22 Unbelievable9

Sounds more like to me he is hedging all his bets. No player is going to jeopardise contract negotiations or a possible move away by declaring their intentions publicly. Best example is the Theo Walcott saga who knew what was happening with that until he signed.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2013 14:23:49
Adrian says he wants to continue in Atletico for some time. Looks like we won't be seeing him in and red and white shirt anytime soon. (or the only right red 'n white shirt more accurate ;) )

belhanda set to join inter milan for 12 mil another target gone what the heck are you doing wenger. you scout so many players yet you do nothing

Believable22 Unbelievable15

Very dissappointing...

That said, palyers post ACN are usually best left on the bench...

Agree0 Disagree0

It's really poor, are we going to sign any player or not ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats because he's leaving for PSG in the summer, he doesn't care anymore. lets look at the facts here, no trophies in 8 seasons now, the last trophy won was with the last of George Grahams back four, after henry, viera and more importantly Dein left, the club could no longer attract the big names, we are no longer a top four club, get used to more bad times ahead.

Agree1 Disagree1

Once again, who is claiming he was/is a target? You need to stop reading the cheap newspapers mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

Clubs have scouted thousands of players. does that mean you have to buy all of them? also, I don't think he's good enough. certainly not what we need now

Agree0 Disagree0

Not the sort of player we need

Agree0 Disagree0

When will people realise just because we are linked with players in the media dose not mean we are in for them or missing out when they move to other clubs very few people know who we are in for or not fed up with everyone moaning we are missing out on players when there is no proof we wanted them in the first place other than paper talk and if you go by that we miss out on every player who ever moves club just chill out people

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2013 15:40:21
Maybe this is another way of earning extra cash for the club, we send our scouts out to find the best players and then we tell all the other clubs about these great players then charge them a finders fee! Clever stuff mr wenger!

Agree0 Disagree0

Until I hear AW saying he wants to buy someone I don't consider us as wanting them, just take it as rumours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with an earlier post - if he was really bothered about us finishing in the top four and possibly winning the FA Cup he would surely have bought some players by now instead of penny pinching. He knows that his time is up and if there are any players he is interested in, he will buy them for his new club not ours. On the positive note, there will be plenty of spare seats next season - all I need is a mortgage to buy a ticket. We are being taken for mugs!

Agree0 Disagree0

He is never been a target, and he is not exceptional, some arsenal fan start doing my headin some of us want to see any player coming in for the sake of it. We don't want players the like of Newcastle and QPR are after, just freaking wait people.

Agree0 Disagree0

Graham's defence? Sol Campbell toure cold and Lauren.... Okay mate and Lehman in goal get your facts straight

Agree2 Disagree0

Well done! The only good defence Arsene put together!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sol was on the bench Senderos started.

Maybe so but it was still his defence.....

the unnamed team that has put a bid in for m'vila
could it be us hope so as it is the sort of thing wenger doe's. Then again he also doesen't put bids in until the last minute.

JERSEY KEV

Believable10 Unbelievable20

Isnt the unnamed team ruban kazam?

Agree0 Disagree0

It's QPR.

Agree0 Disagree0

...Its not QPR as Rennes has confirmed its neither them or Newcastle, Fooooool! Rubin Kazan have already publicly bid for the player too and arent an "English team" {Ed002's Note - He is not moving to Arsenal.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are people so obsessed with m'vila he's not good enough, he was a player with all the potential in the world with many teams looking at him including barcelona and now he's moving to rubin kazam to ruin his career for an extra 10,000 a week.

Arsene has launched a very very late bid for M'Vila which is about €6M as he wants to strike a bargain yet again

Believable25 Unbelievable37

Was thinking the same after hearing a new english team have bid on him plus diaby injured again

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish. Where did you get that from?

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as that, very unlike Wenger... A my missus always says, Wenger only offers £3, so no wonder we can't sign anyone decent.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's QPR, he'll end up there till the summer then move to the Spuds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its reported on tv news, weinerschnitz..... get with the programme

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand people really wanting m'vila when his performance this season has been appalling. We have signed arguably 2 of the top performers in ligue 1 for the past 2 seasons. And now we are signing the worst performer this season.. {Ed002's Note - M'Vila is not going to be moving to Arsenal.}

Afternoon Guys and ed

What would you lot think to a 10million bid on gary hooper I think he would do well for us and he knows how to find the back of the net. I think its just what we need and his wages would be sky high, good age, between him giroud and walcott we would have all the areas covered for strikers. I can't see wenger signing him but it would also stick to the new british core.

Also, I hope wenger doesn't pass up picking the bones of Birmingham and taking Jack Butland on the cheap, could be molded into the next Joe Hart, while I like shezzas passion I am not convinced yet as to his skills, he has become to comfy as number and needs challenging.

Lastly midfield position, I still think we missed out on nigel de jong and finding that player to grab a game by the jewells is going to prove hard! is wanayama the man m'vila who knows its going to be a interesting last few days.

Any comments? cheers

Believable10 Unbelievable30

Personally I really want to see Gary Hooper in the PL to see whether he can step it up from the Scottish leagues, but 10million is a lot considering we could have bought a tried and tested Demba Ba for less.

Agree0 Disagree0

Defo get jack butland in top keeper and get a good English back bone in the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree he seems quite expensive when judged with Ba but he's probablt better than Andy Johnson and Bobby Z so lets get him to QPR for a year and see if he can do a job.
Steven Fletcher is probably the best scottish import what a buy he would be at our current level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Hooper is not good enough for Arsenal!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper for me would be another Jeffers

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary hooper is not what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoopers asking price is 8 million and Fraser Forster is better than Butland.

kev88

Agree0 Disagree0

Cleary a deluded celtic fan. just because your team got to the knock out stages it doesn't mean single players are good enough for one of the top teams in england. sorry to burst your bubble

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Hooper is NOT what we need, in no way shape or form do I believe he would oust Podolski, Walcott or even Giroud from the team. Wanyama looks a good prospect still young. One player whom I believe fans are overlooking is Jelavic. He has done well at Everton and I reckon he would score 20+ goals a season with the service we could provide him with. Thoughts?

David villa and diame are the two signing wenger was talking about.

Believable38 Unbelievable29

What he says and what he means are two differnt things...wont be surprised if its two 16 year olds with potential...and then he says we look to the future...

#deadmanwalking

Agree0 Disagree0

Why Villa ? better players are out there..........

Agree0 Disagree0

........like?

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who hasn't broken their leg

Agree0 Disagree0

Villa is still quality

Agree0 Disagree0

3 years ago David Villa would have been an excellent signing but really don't see him as an Arsene signing given his age/wages/valuation?

Agree0 Disagree0

A broken leg doesn't ruin your career automatically you know, plenty of players have come back, his wasn't a particularly traumatic break or even too hard to rehabilitate.

I would still take Villa in a second! Guaranteed goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Henrick Larsson broke his leg and didn't do to badly after. villa is still a top quality finisher and would score a lot of goals with the creativity of cazorla and wishere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any given day of the week, Villa has presence on the pitch and can score whereas our current lineup leaves a lot to be desired in every department. He wants to leave..we need someone like him...we can afford even their best valuation/ wages etc. It's a no-brainer

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jan 2013 10:01:30
"Juventus are ready to rival Arsenal for the signature of Barcelona ace David Villa, according to reports in Spain." acc. to Metro. Reports of AW waiting until the last 48hrs of the window could see potentially another signing to go a-begging? Eds do you think we will actually put a genuine bid in for Villa or just wild speculation? Cheers, and keep up the great work!

LolliPoppins

Believable21 Unbelievable10

History and track-record suggest that this will be another one from under our noses.

Cost of Gervinho was ~10mln.

Imagine if that had been used to pay the difference for the following:
Mata
Xabi Alonso
Villa
etc...

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jan 2013 08:38:52
Wenger stated that France is no longer producing the quality of players it did previously & that Germany & Spain have the quality players. hence he has signed Arteta, Cazorla, Mertesacker & Podolski. In order to comply with the homegrown quota he has signed Gibbs, Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshere & Oxlade on long term deals. So don't expect any French signings, reports are a German & a Spanish player have been targeted. I have a feeling that either Diame or Wanyama will arrive. I would like both!

Believable26 Unbelievable11

Spanish and german targets then you name two players that are neither your a genius you eh haha

Agree4 Disagree0

I was discussing Wenger's comments & why we shouldn't be surprised that he hasn't gone in for French players such as M'Biwa, M'Vila, etc. The two I mention are currently being touted in the press & it doesn't take a genius such as yourself to work out that they are not Spanish or German! If Wenger goes for Spanish & German players, it appears we may be after David Villa, Mats Hummels Or Mario Gotze, all of whom I would extremely surprised to see join us in this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think his ideal signigns would have been Lars Bender
David Villa

Arsenal need 5 players to sort the season out.

Diame 3.5mil
Belhanda 11mil
Torosidis 1.5mil
Jovetic 18mil
Shawcross 8mil

Shawcross and jovetic are estimates of how much I believe their clubs will accept for, same for belhanda as for diame it's a release Clause and torosidis is in his last year of contract with olympiakos and have rejected bids of 750k {Ed002's Note - You might need to rethink your targets: Bids of a great deal more than £18M have already been rejected for Jovetic. Shawcross has just signed a new contract and Torosidis has already moved this window to Roma. Belhanda will soon be making headlines as his Fenerbahce deal is now a real mess.}

Believable4 Unbelievable44
