Am I the only gooner thinking this is crazy? Weve never spent £40-£50mill in a transfer window never mind one player? Suarez hell ov a player but if this type ov money is there shidnt we be buying 2-3 star players? seems bit ov a panic buy to please fans as missed out on navas, jovetic, higuin etc. is this arsenal classic summer pr machine building up season ticket sales?

Can some of us arsenal fans ever be pleased?! Panic buying? £40 odd million for a proven premier league player and with over a month of the transfer window still open, how can this be a panic buy?

If Saurez puts in a transfer request I'd expect the deal to be between £40/£45 mil since Liverpool wouldn't have to pay him the so called loyalty bonus he would be due.

I find this Suarez buisness hard to belive as the guy is unstable and constantly in the media spotlight. I would rather see the whole squad strengthened all round with quality signings rather than blowing a large chunk of the tranfer money on the looper.

Some of the posts on here make me laugh - bidding to boost season ticket sales? just so you know renewal for season tickets was the end of May - PR stunt? so we pretended to bid did we? twice? but we are not serious - come on! 2 things this deal will now depend on - Suarez handing in a transfer request and RM not bidding, if both these things happen, expect to see him in an Arsenal shirt lads!

Please not Cisse I think that is a major risk and possible waste of money we should be looking to sign someone who would be a first team striker. For me Giroud is equally as good if not better.

Liverpool won't let Suarez go until his £50 million valuation is met. He has been given permission do speak to the Gunners.

Cesar likes London and wants to stay in England so he will hopefully play for us next season.

He has a lot of baggage and for that reason he is not worth £50m. Give it a season or two and he will want to leave. He might be a good players but not long ago he hated the press here and wanted to move abroad. He is playing a game, don't get me wrong, if he does sign and scores a lot of goals then great but not for £50m

What a waste of time this Suarez bidding is. Real will easily outbid Arsenal and Real Madrid is the club he wants to play for. This is just some stupid exercise that will lead to nothing but newspaper headlines so Arsenal can say we tried to sign this player or we went after that player but it didn't work out. Arsenal are turning into a laughing stock.

I have just replied on another post. on that one we were penny ponching because we wouldn't bid higher now we are a laughing stock because we are bidding higher!

The only reason I can see for being a laughing stock is the fans who slag off 'their' football club constantly. Try backing 'your club' instead of continuously slagging it off, calling for your managers head, and talking ba11ox generally!

Agree with SamKT there. Why are we a laughing stock. Mancs keep bidding for Cesc when it's supposedly obvious he isn't going to sign, Rm bidding for bale, etc. Give us some credit as a football club. most of these rumours are started by the what the press put out.

Yes, it is the same old story - penny pinching Arsenal will miss out on 2 more quality players. To make matters worse it is possible that Cesc could even be at OT next season which for die hard Arsenal fans would be the final straw. Don't worry though we have had convincing pre-season wins against Pub teams during our tour of Asia and I am sure that Mr Wenger will put a "spin" on this. It saddens me to think that we are no longer really looking to compete for the title and seem content to scrape into 4th place every season. Cheer up though we could be Spurs fans!

People moaning that we missed out on Higuain need to put things into perspective. A deal was pretty much tied up until Madrid moved the goalposts and demanded another 10mil. Think about it would you put up with that when buying a new car for example, you go to pick up the keys, and the salesman says, oh sorry sir the price of your new car has gone up 30% since we agreed the price, but because no contract was signed it's tuff. Eeeeerm eff off mr car salesman I'll go elsewhere thanks very much.

I need to vent my frustration over this move. How has Wenger and the board allowed Higuain to slip from their clutches! It's embarrassing and quite frankly associating the club with a deserved tag of penny pinchers. Time after time the club has not pushed the boat out regarding transfer fees showing the true desire for the player/s, when will this policy and attitude end? let's us say for arguments sake nothing comes to fruition with the Suarez deal (which to me looks the case), can anybody name an available striking talent of the same calibre? Because i'm struggling, if there is no club additions for the Emirates club there really needs to be a revolt from the fans, as it is not good enough when you consider significant annual ticket price raises. Sort it out.

Since when has 10mil been seen as penny pinching? or to put it more appropriately and incease of a price agreed in principle of over 50%! No one on this site can, with their hand on thier heart, tell me that they would happily pay an extra 50% over an above an agreed price for anything or anyone!

A bit of common sense please arsenal fans and not the usual football manager rubbich I keep seeing on here!

Unfortunately, the transfer window is going just as many predicted for us. Our reported targets end up elsewhere for whatever reason and we end up signing some clown at the 'right' price but wrong quality on deadline day.
Is this our 'statement of intent'?
This is just heart breaking.

SamKT if the player improves the squad then the price tag is worth it! A philosophy the club clearly doesn't seem to believe in. I guarantee Higuain makes a huge impact in Naples and we will have yet again been beaten to our targets.

Why would TV5 have to make way when we are one CB down?

You might think? So you have some sort of say in whether Suarez goes? 50 million for Suarez? Get a grip, if he doesn't go this summer he'll go in January for half that after a long ban and a dip in form because of a bad attitude. He clearly doesn't want to be at the club. I admire liverpools stance on not selling him to a rival, it makes sense. You can be sure though if real had offered 40mil he would be gone. I don't think the money is that issue, it's the fact it's arsenal.

You're forgetting how fickle football fans are in general, of course Arsenal fans will love him and forgive all his sins of he signs for them, just like LFC supporters do now. One rule for one, another rule for everyone else. Football brings out the worse in people and makes normal nice individuals hypocritical and spiteful. Can't explain why we all love it, but we do!

Strange isn't it that rival Premer League clubs won't sell to Arsenal, yet we are more than happy to let our star players move to Manchester United or Man City as long as we can bank a few quid. The problem is not with Mr Wenger, but the Board who just want to count money rather than trophies. They seem to want to spend the bare minimum to get us into the top 4 and reap the benefits of the Champions League cash. Nothing will change until the board are ousted.

The LFC fan isn't far off imo. ￡45m to get their attention, ￡47.5m to force it through.

I was told the extra £1 wasn't part of the Suarez bid, but was actually a alternate bid for Stewart Downing.
