Strong rumours that we are in for Lakaku. I would far prefer him to Vardy and hope we sign him.

He the Nettos version of lukaku?

If lukaku is the one we end up with, which i doubt due to price then he would be an upgrade on giroud but a bit short on what i think we need as far as a reliable finisher was concerned. Better than mane deeney lacazette batishayie etc not up to levandoski, higuain or aubamayang. In other words could do worse but could do better, just my opinion of course.

Steve,
We could/ should sign players like Lewandowski and Aubemayang, but never will.

Dags it would be statement of intent that we are all waiting for really, problem is we might be waiting a while.

Lukaku is better than Giroud but not by much. Not entirely convinced it would be the best choice. Would prefer to acquire someone with pace and decent dribbling.

Steve,
Sanchez was a statement of intent, as was Ozil and Cech.

How many more you want? :-)

It's not a bank account. You don't get a statement every 3 months.

Would love lukaku. Wanted him before the everton move. don't understand the critisicm from everton fans. Scored 18 in a poor team last year. No offence ed 25. 23y/ o with 60 prem goals for mid to bottom table sides, who else can we get as a ready made prem player with long term viability? May not be the finished article but at 23 he's not far off it and that's an age when strikers generally only begin to come to the fore. I think we should swoop this year while chelsea and united are out of CL. 60 for him or 60 for moratta? Anyone better costs more without Prem experience (dont need a falcao level flop) and will cost more. Market price is market price. Pay the man, he'll have resale value next summer if it doesn't go to plan. Get him and shift Walcott and id be over the moon!

Gg would prefer him to morata but if we are to pay 60 big ones I think levendoski or aubamayang are better, even higuain. We either want to win the league and push on or we dont. I think we will get our answer this summer.

Even if we could or would pay the fees and wages to match other clubs offers why would Lewandowski Higuain and co chose us?
That's not putting us down its just being realistic about our current pulling power because of our recent record of being also rans in the premier league and champions league, i think we need accept we are limited to who we can attract right now and aim to raise our profile to credible challengers buying getting the best we can get until we can again attract who we really want.

Everton fan

Morning Dags

The messenger, mate Lukaku as rapid and did you see his dribbling skills not long ago, skinned 4 players and slotted it home, they are things he is certainly not short of, now his first touch is what he is short if mate.

Murff yes you are right, first touch not brill, but originally neither was drogbas and he improved. If he improved his finishing and first touch he would be the business.

Eds do any of you think that Wenger and other managers are more focused on buying inside the Prem now given the drop in Sterling against the euro?

Steve I think the Napoli President has said he wants 100mil euro for Higuain. He's also 29 in a few months so would have no resale value if flopped in Prem (not that I think he would) but also he is a legend now at Napoli, why would he want to leave?

On lewandowski like g62 said why would he want to go. He's main striker at one of the biggest clubs in the world, winning the league every season and are a team that have contested 6 semi's and 3 finals of the CL in the last 7 years. Aside - he scored bags of goals at the start of the season but goes missing a lot.

Basically I don't think players of their ilk are available

Auba would be a bigger gamble than the other two for the Prem imo but I get your point and he would be a major statement of intent and actually seems to be available.

After that I think Lukaku is the best option and he reminds me of drogba also who didn't get his start in the prem until 24y/ o

Interestingly Drogba had 104 goals in 9 Prem season Lukaku has 60 in 4.

If he's available its a no brainier in my mind given what is and isn't available in the market.

{Ed002's Note - No, it will make no difference.}

All signings are a gamble Galway mate and all we and everyone else can do is put the odds in our favour by getting the best we can get, I thought Torres was a sure thing success at Chelsea but it didn't turn out like that and few would have been rushing out and buying Mahrez shirt's this time last summer if we'd signed him.
As long as we get someone who is more prolific in front of goal than Olly on paper atleast we will have done our best to improve our chances as that's as much as we can ask for and is an improvement on the Benzema or nothing approach last summer.

I was just wondering if any of the eds has any information on akpom? will be given a chance in the 1st team this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on if a striker is bought and the right loan move can be found for him. That is the plan.}

24 Jun 2016 16:34:58
Not sure about the rest of you gooners, but he's turning out to be a bit of a disappointment for me at senior level.

Again probably needs another loan.

No I don't think he is, hull was a maybe a move to build on his strength and physical play. If he goes on loan again maybe QPR or a team that holds possession.

Disagree Steve,

I'm sure Akpom is on very good wages.

Why does he need another loan?
