Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

Carlos Vela scored another bicycle kick at tw weekend. That's 2 since he's been at Real Sociedad and he's scored 7 in his last 9 games. I really hope we bring him back to the prem next season and give him a good run in the team rather than selling him at cut price. He has such potential.

Also any new news on possible transfer for Benzema?

EMG

Believable13 Unbelievable20

He is playing very well but carlos said earlier in the year that he doesn't like London and that he hopes to stay in Spain. He admitted that he could never concentrate in training because he felt too far from home and it was impacting upon his form. For those reasons I can't see arsene standing in his way. However his current form should allow us to fetch a decent price for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Benzema is so overrated, wenger knows this i cant see him going all out on a player who has never really amazed everyone on a consistent basis, useless last night aswell

BS18

Agree0 Disagree0

Benzema useless? 30 goals for madrid this season seems pretty useless to me also...:0 Having said that there's no chance we could fetch him nor would he want to leave madrid. certainly not useless mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the above that states Vela couldn't concentrate in training when he is here because he is too far from home......MEXICO. So now he is in Spain he can hop on a train back to 'home' in a jiffy, brilliant.
I do believe the not liking London side of things however.

arsenal in advance negotiations wiv stade rennes for m'vila. i think he will b a great signing. him and song with wilshere and arteta just ahead will be indestructible.

Believable22 Unbelievable12

I hope we get him and sell song.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have no need to sell song! Why not have them both

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see us paying near on 20m for a DM whilst alex song is still at the club especially if we still have coquelin/frimpong, can't have 4 DM's on your books all between the 20-24 age range.
vertonghen makes perfect sense here considering he will be much cheaper as in last year of contract and can play in a variety of roles other than center back.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he goes with two defensive midfielders, then all i can see is two wide players and podolkski up front with van persie tucked in behind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get rid of song.. are you mad?

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably a spud, no arsenal fan in their right mind would suggest selling song

Agree0 Disagree0

I Would I Dont Rate Him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Song - the assistant

DO NOT SELL

we miss arteta badly

BS18

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can get good money for song, then sell him, he is not quick enough for the top level, often does not track back, see QPR a few weeks ago and gives away lots of free kicks.

Arsenal ins:

Hazard 25m+ park
Poldolski 9.5m
Vertonghen 9m
M'vila 14m
Suarez 7m
Holtby 8m
GK 3m

Total 76m

Outs
Almunia Free
Bendter 7m
Park p/e
denilson 3m
squillachi 2m
Chamakh 6m
Arshavin 6m

Total 24m

Total 76-24= 52m(according to Miss Arsenal we have over 60m in our kitty)

Believable13 Unbelievable46

Some of these prices are way off.
Hazard for 25 mil + Park?
Podolski?
Vertonghen?
M'vila?

Good names and all but those prices are ridiculous.

Nick.

Agree0 Disagree0

I presume this is a wish list...

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly, I dont believe we will sign anything like 7 players, particularly as we have such a full squad. Secondly, our net spend will be minimal.
Outs:
Almunia - released
Squilacci - free transfer or loan. I cant see anyone paying anything as he has a £50k per week deal to match.
Denilson - possible loan deal again, as I cant see anyone paying anything for him, again as he has large wages
Bendtner - £6m?
Park - Again difficult to sell with high wages
Chamakh - £6m?
Arshavin - £5m?
Vela - £3.5m?
Lansbury - £1m?
Fabianski - £2m?
Total - £23.5m

Purchases -
Podolski - £10m?
Keeper - ?
Possibly one or two other signings at best, using the remaining £13.5m, plus a possible small contribution from funds.
Next season:
G: Szczesny, new keeper & Martinez
RB: Sagna & Jenkinson
LB: Gibbs & Santos
CB: Vermaelen, Koscielny & Miquel
CB: Mertesacker & Djourou
DM: Song, Arteta, Frimpong & Coquelin
M: Rosicky, Wilshere, Abu Diaby & Ramsey
AM: Oxlade, Walcott, Gervinho & Miyaichi
Att: RVP & Podolski

Makes 26 players, plus youngsters, so not much room for additional players, despite some of the 26 still qualifying as under age players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski's price should be slightly higher as should vert's.
But the one you're way off with is M'vila.... add over another 10m on that mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

As Nick's said your prices are wack, sorry! Also what you need to consider is that we would be taxed on anything coming in so your sum in not valid either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really.. european clubs like to be paid in euro's the conversion to pound is different hence 13million euro's what koln wanted is about £10mill

Agree0 Disagree0

We will sign 3 players at the most (excluding the odd youngster...)

Frankly, I will be very surprised if Wenger signs a defender. We have 4 CBs as it stands. Even if we did, I see the Montpellier captain as a better 3rd choice.

Then the midfield conundrum:
Hazard - going to manchester or madrid
It would take modric going to Man Utd
Cavani/Lavezzi going to Man city
Juve/AC Milan/Inter/Bayern not bidding
Then maybe 25mln + park/chamakh/etc...

Holtby - Javier Perez is an idiot
Saurez - Again, Javier Perez is an idiot
Marvin Martin - PSG
Belhanda - Fingers crossed

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

We will be lucky to get ten million in total for the players you mention, no one in the world will pay 7 million for Bentner, will be really lucky to get 4 million. I think the only way to get them off the books, and out of the 25 man squad limit, will be to pay off their contracts, but can you see the super stubborn Wenger who is never wrong doing that ? Expect only one more player after Podolski, and it will not be a big name.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely the £60m is set aside for contracts as well. If we were to keep RVP, reports alone suggest a sky high weekly wage plus a £5m sign on bonus so i can't see us signing more than 3 players plus possibly benayoun. Most likely players will be Podolski, Vertonghen and Suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

Billybob: Marvin Martin is probably going to Lille, and Behanda won't move I believe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene is mad mad to buy that stupid suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

Billybob: we already know that u dont believe javier perez. anyway he is a world renowned sports journalist and knows way more about footballl than u do. we'll see whos right in the summer!

oh and its matias suarez not luis suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly the price mark for such players would be thinking realistricly.
almunia 500k
bendtner 5 mill
denilson 2 mill will not be loaned
squilachi 1mill
chamakh ( doubt be sold) 5mill
arsahvin( interseting one here) 6mill if he has good time out in russia but dnt think he is atm so brings it down to 4.5

Park i dnt think will be sold.

hazard we wont get
podolski is agreed at 10.4mill
M'villa doubt we would get but prob around 22mill
suarez doubt it v much
gk will prob be either v v young or around the 32-33 mark so ur guess is as good as mine.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could sell Vela for about 8mill.

Although I have followed Arsenal for almost twenty years I do not claim to have any insuder knowledge or connections with staff etc. My workmate on the other hand has previously informed me of the signings of both Denilson,Sagna & Santos well in advance of their arrivals. He wont say who but he obviously does know somebody or something !

He has not spoken about the departures as such only stating that Arshavin & Yossi are both going (obvious I know) and the two players to cover the departure of the left sided midfielders are Podolski & Santos - yes Santos.

Apparently Vertonghen will battle it out with Gibbs at left back ( as well as covering CB & CDM ) while Santos will move to midfield and also be an emergency LB if required.

He doesn't know more than the names Vertonghen & Podolski ( for the reasons given above ) but he believes that in addition to these there will be one creative type midfielder ( relatively young player but proven )

So thats it from a man who has not been wrong so far;

Podolski / Vertonghen / One creative midfielder but NOT M'Villa.

This added to loan returns and the departure of the obvious - including Denilson whom we wish to sell as opposed to loaning him out.

Believable18 Unbelievable14

Sounds probable, as Podolski seems to be a definite & things have gone mysteriously (Arsenal-like) quiet on Vertonghen, who with his versatility would prove a great addition to the squad. Assuming these two are on the way, I can only see a replacement keeper if Fabianski departs & a further striker if RVP decided to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like your friend will be wrong on m'vila.

Ibster

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd prefer to deploy Santos on the left of midfield. I frequently do this in Fifa12, and it gives my team a good balance. As to the validity of your comment, I think it holds some weight, as Santos can't defend for....toffee. Notice how I deferred from an asterisk- laden expletive there Ed(s) ?

Slick Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love for that attacking midfielder to be Hazard, but that seems almost impossible.

I am not sure I remember the last big bidding war we entered..
Phil Jones
Smailing
Ramsey
Park...

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

The attacking midfielde ris probably lewis holtby or mathias suarez. id love to see both of them at arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Holtby hasnt been good this season tbh..if you watch german football, you will see that he is quite an average player over a whole season..probably on a level with spearing for liverpool. I dont know about suarez. But if they arent from the premier league, there is always a chance they will be a total flop.

ed,s what would be the situation if chelsea won the c/l but failed to qualify for next season c/l.would they they take the 4th place position?
i do remember the everton /liverpool scenario were liverpool was aloud to play in the comp but that would,nt happen again. {Ed001's Note - if they win, they get a Champions League place automatically, so only 3 places would be awarded from the league. When it happened in 2005, the rules clearly stated that the holders would enter the following season's competition in the group stages, but, because of the FA forcing UEFA to award them a 5th place in the comp, Liverpool were made to enter in a qualifying round. The rules have now been clarified and the holders get automatic entry into the group stages, even if they finish outside the top 4.}

Believable12 Unbelievable2

So does this mean that the third-place team would be required to enter in the qualifying round? Or do all four enter directly in the group stages? I looked at the CL rules manual yesterday and couldn't find an answer. {Ed002's Note - Third place goes to the qualifying round and the winners go to the group stage.}

Agree0 Disagree0

No not the case, if chelsea win champions league the 3 tiered clubs will go through.as will chelsea (4th place) not one of the clubs willl hve to qualify they will automatically in chmp league

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool were offered a place in the preliminaries by a welsh team i think. I think they sold them their place if memory serves correct
