The squillachi deal is done, it will be announced on the website today. he will wear the number 18 shirt.Strong rumours going around this morning that we are about to sign a forward, with Nicklas Bendtner on his way to Milan or Juventus.A couple of names floating about but the one that is coming up most frequently is Sergio Aguero. this would be a huge signal of intent by Wenger and thought to be a big reason Fabregas was willing to give it one more season. . .

Arsenal would not sign another (if we get squillaci ) 30+ centre back, so no Juan. expect Squillaci and if lucky enough one of Emir Spahic, renewed interest in Diakhate and Tasci.
But another alternative has "popped" up, with a 10million pound bid for Melo to allow competition with song for centre mid, then if, as normal we are short of players due to injury song can cover as 5th centre back.
Wenger recently said in an interview on arsenal.com that we will focus more on the prem than the champions league, so expect a bid for Skeklenburg and Almunia play in champions league and F.A cup, mannone loaned out and Wojciech Szczesny in the Carling cup.
one more point to add, the talk of the bloke who knows a bloke who knows a bloke at the pub is that arsenal are looking down a route that Real madrid took this season, they signed huntalaar and i think it was diarra who were cup tied for the champions league and real madrid applied for them to be able for the champions league, and they were granted one player the dodgy source said arsenal were likely to apply to see if they could get any of the Ajax trio to be granted champions league action

Stekelenburg, Vertoghan, Erikson and van der wiel.
j personally think that the will be mainly looking at Erikson and Stekelenburg as they are the 2 places that we need to improve in! !

I've heard that thankfully Wenger has given up on Schwarzer and will put an £8 Million bid in for Given! The deal is likely to be completed on the last day of the transfer window.
Ed have you heard any other Arsenal News? {editor's note - I hadn't even heard that one, I was told Wenger was just waiting on Fulham to replace Schwarzer.}

My fellow arsenal fans i have just found out something very intresting, arsene wenger is waiting for tonights champions league matches to see if ajax make it to the group stages, uefa have a rule saying if a player plays in the CL qualifying round and his team dosent make it he can move
so if ajax get knocked out be expecting maarten steklenberg and if ajax make it expect schwarzer

eden Hazard has never been that impressive either and don't think were short of creative midfielders so wouldn't put any substance in that one. Schwarzer never gonna happen now wenger had plenty of chance to sign him so can't see it. I hear Vertoghen and Steklenberg are front runners to finish of the spending would like both signings personally. Plus Wellington coming in january so.

Where have all the Juan rumours come from these last couple of days? Personally I don't rate him that highly and I can't see Wenger spending £25+ million on centre backs.
All I expect to see before the transfer deadline is the Squillaci deal confirmed and either Mark Schwarzer (£2m) or preferably Maarten Stekelenburg (£9m).

2. Akinfeev's contract runs out in 2013 and so will not come cheap.

Just heard that Steven Taylor of Newcastle has been put on the Transfer List. Considering Arsenal's need for defensive cover (and if my memory serves me correctly, Taylor was once a target by Wenger) is there any soundings from up North that could see Taylor at the Emirates?

Any truth in the Hazard story, I have heard that another team have made a bid which may well force AW to act now so not to miss out, add this to the rumours of a big signing!
CB is now fixed, we have two in who should both be solid, Koscielny will be first choice and looks strong to me!
GK - 50/50 could be Schwartzer or Given. I would rather Given but AW seems to be worried about his height. Cant see Given going to Fulham though! ED what do you think? readers what do you think?
{Editor's Note: Pre transfer windows Eden Hazard was one of the most seen names on the site - and now practically nothing. Lille placed a really high price on the player and he is very young so nobody will take that sort of chance. It would be a shock to see something happen over the next week - but stranger things have happened.}

To ALL the clowns that keep posting the Arsenal line up for this season and keep leaving Arshavin out: He is probably the second most influencial palyer after Cesc for Arsenal. And anybody who thinks that Theo Walcot is a better option than Thomas Rosicky on the wing need "a check up, from the neck up!" he will come on as a substitute - at best.
Old heads are gonna win us the league this year, just look at the way "little Motzart" is playing - by a county mile our best player so far. Arshavin is also up for this one. Onto the rumour: I believe Arsene still has a card up his sleeve for the 'marquee' signing of this summer: The prof has some real dough to spend for the first time in a while; Expect a Big surprise. Either a 'box to box' midfielder or a clinical finisher - someone to take the #9 shirt. Guesses anybody?
