Fulham have signed Emmanuel Frimpong on loan until the end of the season. Hopefully he can get good game time to make Wenger realise that he deserves a new contract. He is going to be a beast in the future.

I would agree with you. Arsene will say he couldn't get the players he wanted and we will have to put up with that as we always do.

We will bring a player in if not 2. we generally always leave it till the last minute so someone else doesn't hijack the under wraps deals.
If we start playing like we did against The Hammers no one will really complain but if the team start's stuttering and Arsenal have'nt used the window to strengthen there will be mass disillusionment.

Reports in Germany (Merkur-online.de) that Wenger has said this about Mats Hummels:
"Nein, ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass Dortmund seine Verteidiger mitten in der Saison irgendwohin verkauft, und wir haben auch keinerlei Versuch gestartet."
TRANSLATION:
"No, I can not imagine that Dortmund would sell one of their defenders in the middle of the Season and so we haven't attempted a bid."
I think he is pretty much on point - why would Dortmund accept a bid for Hummels now? (especially as he seems to be happy in Dortmund, he has a real chance to win something with them this year and he signed a new contract which lasts until 2017 last summer).
Sorry - Hummels is staying with us!

Hi eds and gooners! i'm sure this wi make me most unpopular guy around and probably be slated. But read back on this post on 1st feb and see I was right but be given very high odds from someone in club that wenger won't buy anyone this window. He is trying but no one has appealed to him. He will not buy and will say deals for players was interested in weren't available. Watch and see. Zaha, diame and other targets have all been put off summer as bo guarantee of champs league. Yes I agree on that AW won't sign any new player this January transfer window..just making rumours and linked for star player but never made any bid for that club of the player interested. I really don't understand of AW how he build the Arsenal squad. Other club look busy buying player in or out but Arsenal remain existing player. For sure next season Arsenal will lost of top four position.

Steklenburg was offered to us, ( having trouble with Roma staff behind the scene) Roma were willing to Swap us him for one of our keeper, whom i'm not sure who it was, most likely Mannone, but Wenger actually rejected this because he wants Chesney as his number 1 and a replacement to push him, sounds like Jack Butland to me. but to rejected such a high class keeper as Steklenburg because he wants Ches as his number 1 is crazy. This has been confirmed also .
People with the Hummels rumours don't be daft, we tried to sign him 2 seasons ago for 10-14 million and AW didn't think that was a good price, now the price has doubled, No Chance.
Gotze has a 30 million clause in his contract that runs out in April, putting 2 and 2 together with Wenger saying previously he would be a player he would spend big on, the 30 million bid Arsenal made this Transfer window is most likely him.
It's looking increasingly unlikely we will sign strikers the clue is the rumoured player's clubs eg Villa Jovetic. wouldn't leave these players go without a replacement, especially Barca with no other strikers that Messi and Sanchez.
Prepare for no signing or just low key signing otherwise your going to be disappointed unless Wenger produces some magic

Szczesny is better than Stekelenberg, to me. Don't think you realise how expensive he will be as a RESERVE keeper. Bench should be on 40k, Stekelenberg is on a fair amount at Roma I'm told.

This has just come in from a reliable source of mine saying Arsene has been on the phone with Karl Heinze Rumminge trying to sort out a deal for one Luis Gustavo for about £7.5M but he's been told £10M to land him but is hopeful a compromise of about £8.5M will be accepted before doing any other deal even though he has claimed he won't be signing anyone

Does anyone really believe Wenger will tell the media who his targets are? He loves a game of poker and will be dropping buffs all over the place. Expect him to sign either Jovetic or Villa and either Diame, Wanyma or McCarthy. Frimpong wouldn't have been allowed to go to Fulham if another DM wasnt coming in. Coquelin out for a few weeks injured just reinforces this.

squillaci, djourou, gervinho, rosicky, santos, denilson and mannone are leaving because that is probably about 300k off the wage bill which means that they can give bigger contracts to giroud, podolski and arteta. hummels will give competition to koscielny and vermaelen and play a lot. fellaini will score 15 goals from midfield and villa will be their fourth striker

Rumours of Mats Hummels are growing, as is the acquisition of a world class forward, possibly Vila. I would love to see these two players signed. I believe Wenger will wait until the summer to find a quality keeper & I am not certain he wants a strong defensive midfield player, which is a shame, because a fit Abu Diaby in tandem with a quality defensive midfield player would be awesome, leaving a platform for the likes of Cazorla & Wilshere to play further forward. Mind you, if you consider that Wenger wanted to sign Vertonghen to play a defensive midfield role, then maybe he has this role in mind for Hummels, I recall Wenger successfully moving Petit from a defensive role, into a superb defensive midfield player, who played alongside Vieira, allowing him to drive forward, confident that Peit would cover. Abu Diaby could play the Vieira role.
Diaby could play the Viera role if he wasn't injured 34 times in 7 years....we need cover for him!
I understand what you are saying and I totally agree except for the diaby part yes I think he is a really good player but he is way to injury prone and we can't rely on someone like that so what I would suggest is we could have wilshere in the box to box role and hummels as a defensive mid with cazorla further forward aswell

Abu Diaby will never play a Vieira role - he has lost all his developmental years while constantly injured. Even if fit he will take about 2 seasons to hit consitently good form (as opposed to the hit and miss type of game we saw at the start of this season). Wenger needs to replace Diaby and soon.

Dortmund will NOT sell their best defender despite them having a poor season trying to defend their title. he will cost a lot of money which unfortunately Arsene will not pay. Best hope is Wanyama which I also doubt will come off by end of the window
If Hummels comes in then TV5 will move to DM. He has pace, reads the game well and can pass the ball well. Hummels will slot into the back line straight away.
In Diaby we have unearthed the new darren anderton not patrick viera!lol

Ed, any truth in either rumour that Arsenal are looking to sign Stevan Jovetic for £14m + Andrey Arshavin and Matt Hummels arriving for £17? {Ed001's Note - if Arsenal could get those 2 for that, they would be performing a miracle.}
Florentina were offered much more for Jovetic from chelsea which was turned down so 14mil and arshavanin aren't going to make the cut, and has for hummels why ould he leave dortmund for arsenal at the moment it would appear he has better champions league prospects staying where he is. although things can change I think both of these signings rather unlikley then again I may be wrong
Arshavin really only has a value of approx 2-3M at this stage, Jovetic is valued by Fiorentina at 20M+, probably closer to 25M.
No chance getting Hummels at that price either...
But malaga gooner told us so........
