Rosicky threw his shirt into the crowd and was visibly upset as he left the pitch today!

Dortmund bound??

Believable22 Unbelievable32

I haven't seen this so I don't know if this is true.

However people always throw their shirts away. I don't think you can read to much into that.

Agree0 Disagree0

What's not to believe? I was sat above the players tunnel at the AMEX today.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you think his going bearing in mind he signed an extension a few months back

Agree0 Disagree0

False. he's happy to be back playing

So wenger said after the game that we have quality strikers but short on numbers up top so with the games we have in the league champ league an fa cup an he says we are short up top he must be after a striker in the coming days of the window
So strikers who could be avalible
Villa 12million
Jovetic 20 million
Lewendoski 15 million unlikely
D Graham 5 million

Would anyone be happy if graham come done well this season
5 million .jovetic for me young an can play in champ league

Believable19 Unbelievable26

If arsene feels there is already enough quality up top, I can't see him breaking the club transfer fee to bring jovetic in.

he may want a forward to boost numbers but it won't be someone of that calibre. he has his faith in giroud.

he did flat out deny a move for jovetic after the game but then again, can we trust anything he says?

Agree0 Disagree0

I really rate danny graham, I think with a big club he could be an england regular

Danny graham is a player who I have been wathing for a very long time, since he was at carlisle, I have always said that he has the ability to score 20 goals a season at any level. I trully believe that because of the type of player he is he could do that at arsenal. I hate to say so and so is the new... but jovetic trully is the new bergkamp, his control, his passing, his shot; he really is world class. I think either of these two would be amazing

real possibility of Jovetic, everything points to it,

Fiorentina signing 2 strikers this window in Rossi and Matri(now Anelka has gone Juve),

They always said they would sell him if the right money came, which was qouted around 20mill£ which might be the 30 mill euro that Arsenal bid for a unknown player this window.

Dick Laws being in Italy.

excited to say the least

Believable36 Unbelievable14

26 Jan 2013 20:14:32
Jovetic gaining momentum, which reports that Dick Law (chief negotiator ) has been spoted in Italy,

As most know Rossi is off to Fiorentina and they are the same type of player, which gives me the impression Jovetic is moving on, a team will always sign before selling so its a big indication in my eyes.

But and its a big one, City have joined the race, and have offered Balotelli but Fiorentina aren't keen, so if Balotelli can be flogged off expect Jovetic to be at City,

A few reasons for Wenger prefering him to David Villa is he's not cup tied for the CL ( even though we will most likely only be playing 1 round) Value for money, paying for a young player is proven is what Wenger has been talking about reason, ready made quality, he could play anywhere in the front 4, CAM rw lw ST. with giroud or walcott. and he's quality. would make a big statement,

Also De Rossi has been enquired about. nothing happening though, maybe a late bid but not realistic

Believable22 Unbelievable7

City entering the race is very worrying they can bid more than Arsenal and pay better wages while Arsenal can offer more playing time. {Ed002's Note - He has always been their primary summer target.}

Arsenal Transfer News: Florian Thauvin Interest Expressed.
Bastia club President said:
"We have not received any firm offer from Arsenal and, thus, there is no question of the €5 million reported. This week I have had Arsène Wenger on the phone twice. He expressed his interest in the player to us, but it has not gone beyond that."
Ed, will you please confirm the reality and other options that Wenger is trying recently?

is it me or can people stop thinking that arsenal will spend 40m on defenders because, wenger wants attacking player. Arsenal only need 2 more wingers and maybe another striker.
clearly wenger still got it in buying attacking players and nurturing them. wilshere, Walcott, giroud, podolski, cazorla, arteta and oxlade chamberlain. 8 incredible attacking players and also coquelin, frimpong, diaby, bendter and chu young are all decent players. giroud has 13 goals this season and podolski has 11 in the 5th round of the fa cup and 4 points off 4th spot aswell as the knowledge of spurs capitulating, Chelsea not doing great, everton stretched and villa going to be signed. for god sake gunners fans shut up. ima Charlton fan and I don't complain so please shut up

Believable14 Unbelievable29

Don't look on the arsenal rumour site if its annoying you pal

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal don't annoy me btw, I just know that wenger will always think about attack before defence and also arsenal fans have it great.

Perhaps you should shut up.

26 Jan 2013 17:28:18
As much as I will be very happy if wenger purchases Jovetic, I hope that if he decides not to, I hope he signs a wide midfield player, not winger. And plays a 4231 with podolski in behind giroud, honestly believe giroud is an exceptional player, better than cazorla in terms of style suited to the premier league, yes cazorla is brilliant but I believe he is a little too weak and his fitness isn't the best, not compared to other attacking midfielders similar to his mould, i.e silva mata

Also podolski will do much better in behind him or even switching it with Walcott to play in behind from time to time, the long balls to giroud with a flick on to the galloping Walcott will also be beneficial.

But most of all we need someone to keep gervinho out of the team, he is equally as bad as santos was today, just consistently bad! he never knows what to do when he gets in the final third, his crossing is terrible and his desire is very questionable, he is looking a far better player at the afcon,

Also a formation like this will give a much better level of competition for our midfield, cazorla arteta wilshere ramsey and diaby all competing for 2 spots, although diaby is 90% injured.

Another point is we need and I desperately mean NEED 3 defenders. I think I speak for everyone when I say santos is terrible and needs to go, a replacement will be preferred if not promote Meade, then I think loan jenkinson to stoke, first team action in the premier league will be a great bit of experience for a lad not far from being better than Sagna! (Especially with his current form) then bring in a right back to back up Sagna or replace him as he will clearly leave at the end of the season. Then mostly we need a centre back. Not a back up this time, a full capped international star ie hummels, cheillini, badstuber Someone who will add strength and drive into our defence also with power, mertesacker suits the Italian league, too slow and feeble for the premier league. Astonishing for a 6'8" German I know.

Summer i'd sign a new goalkeeper to replace szczesny, just not cutting it, sadly I did like him. A new strong midfielder, arteta rosicky are both in their 30's and cazorla isn't far behind, we all knew he wasn't a long term option, buy a strong you upcoming modfielder, draxler? Wanyama? And a young centre back, zouma?

We will have a very good team then with potential of more than 4th

edoo2 can you explain a buy out clause.

for example isco.

if we meet a players buy out clause can there still be a bidding war?
or is it up to the player to decide on which club he goes to?

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - This is a horribly complex area but I'll try and explain briefly. The "buy out" clause is legally binding between a club and a player. The "buy out" is effectively what it says - a means for the player to buy himself out of the contract. As an example, if a player wishes to buy himself out of a contract, he pays the applicable FA the amount of the "buy out" clause effectively becoming a free agent. The problem is that in most cases a player would need to obtain that money from the buying club - and this is fraught with issues regarding "tapping up" and, of course, taxation as it can be seen as income for the player and would therefore be subject to income tax. There was a test case about the taxation issue in Spain about three years ago.

A "release clause" is far more common in that it gives a figure that the club would accept for the sale of a player to another club - but it is not legally binding. These are normally unreasonably high figures (Hulk at Porto for example) introduced to act as a deterrent for hostile bids - and even then the club could easily block a move. An example being the case of Cavani during the summer where two offers were made that matched or equated to his then "release clause" but Napoli did not sell. Now of course Napoli say they will listen to offers above €70M.

There is then the becoming popular "termination clause" which is binding between the player and the club and if met would see an offer from anywhere accepted and the player given the opportunity to make a call on a move. THis overcomes the issues associated with "buy out" clauses as the money would be paid by one club to another. This is what Malaga are trying to agree with Isco. Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract because they do fear a move for the player this month. Malaga wanted 21M euros and are now negotiating an increase in a termination clause to 42M euros, using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree. Malaga must raise funds by March to pay a debt and would like to hold on to Isco until the summer - but there remains a chance he could still be sold this month with very strong interest from a couple of sides.}

Ed 002 you're a star!
Thanks for explaining that - very informative and corrected much of what I thought I knew on the matter.

Thanks ed,

can you see arsenal activating the release clause?

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - For whom?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed just pick your brains and I know you don't like answering questions like this.
what could you see being the total figure including agent fees and signing on fees that a player like isco would cost...30mill?

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - A player like Isco? That is rather random - a Spaniard? A player with a beard?}

M'villa to Rubin Kazar. majority of the site claimed that he is having medical at RK

Jovetic to Arsenal. Majority of the site claims that the CL lured his to join AFC

Meanwhile, logically, if three players had left Arsenal on Loan, there must be others to replace them NO DOUBT. I will wait until Feb 1, 2013 before requesting for Arsene's Head

Hi Eds
Thanks for the posts so far. I know lots have been asking about potential signings but since there is less than a week to go can you give us some names as to who Wenger is likely to sign this month. {Ed002's Note - I'll stick with what I said previously.}

I`m not reading anything into the interview Wenger gave today about not being in for Villa, Hummels or Diame, he`s notoriously secretive about players and if he did confirm it, its like saying to Man City, Chelsea etc, `Hey guys, Hummels is unsettled and Dortmond want to sell, how about a bidding war with us?!`.

I`m still hoping/expecting 2 players in, a versatile defender/defensive midfielder plus a striker/winger.

Just a thought. The rumours that are flying around about us signing Joevtic might not be that far fetched. Considering that they have signed Guiseppe Rossi and are reportedly looking to sign quagliarella from Juventus. Juventus doesn't really need him now since they have signed Llorente so perhaps there is some substance to this after all. Who knows. Would be a really good signing.

The Swede

Believable33 Unbelievable21

You do know Llorente won't play for Juve till next season right?

Agree0 Disagree0

Llorente is joining Juventus in July so I doubt they'd want to sell any strikers just yet. This means that we won't be signing Jovetic and if we were too then it would not happen until the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anelka is joing juve til the end of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2013 13:01:55
Maybe they are trying their best to qualify for the champions league. Showing the ambition we not?

Lwi

Agree0 Disagree0

Juventus just completed the loan deal for Anelka so the loan move for Quagliarella to Fiorentina can be completed next week. Jovetic to Arsenal is probable the only big signing with highest chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fiorentina have signed Rossi and another ST. Also looking to get Quag from Juve on loan for the rest of the season which is what OP was saying.

NTM an English club have moved for Jovetic and Dick Law flew to Italy last night.

26 Jan 2013 14:59:38
good points from both of you. there are still rumours that quagliarella is going to fiorentina though and he doesn't get a lot of game time in juventus at the moment. but of course, if I had to bet I would bet that jovetic is not comming to arsenal. I just se it as a rather slim possibility instead of some random twitter rumor if you know what I mean. thanks for the reply guys.

the swede

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are people questioning our chances of gettin Jovetic on the basis that JUVE are signing Llorente in THE SUMMER?...

Why should that change anything?

With Juve's loan signing of Anelka they're sorted until the summer. They (probably) won't look to bring in any permanent striker options this month.

If we're looking at bringing in a striker (still not convinced myself), and if we're willing to spend £30m (haha, good one right?) then as he's available then it's a possibility.

... would be a perfect signing for us. Still more in need of a good DM and a fourth CB though.
