Arsenal will sign 3 players early in the summer:
Belhanda
Podolski
Vertonghen

Wenger will back the likes of arshavin, squillaci, chamakh and bendtner. Then they will all force there way out of arsenal. Miyaichi and vela will come back changed players. Both will be key(coming off the bench with pace). Then we will have quality and depth in every position(maybe not GK but can't see wojcech getting injured-touch wood). We will be 1st until march. Then rvp and poldi get injured. Then we finish 2nd and everyone is excited for 2013-2014.
Just a prediction

I don't see Vela staying. Look at it this way: our midfield will be full. Tons of competition for those 3 places.

RvP when fit will have that top position. Podolski would fill in or play on the side. Considering Walcott and Ox-Chambo, not to mention Gervinho, not to mention Ryo, how is there any room for Vela? I'd say we don't need Vela, but we do need someone better at creating chances than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arshavin, Chamakh, Squillaci, Bendtner and Vela will all go.

In my opinion anyway..

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Gilo all those players will go and then hopefully Denilson, Park and Djourou to go with them!

Is your crystal ball on LSD?

Agree0 Disagree0

I can only see vertoghen coming in if Djourou is sent out on loan. Firstly, to give him a good run of games and secondly to cover the wages.

I think truth be told, Per was a bit of a panic buy and not really part of Wenger's long term plans. He had always wanted the pairing of Kos/Verm - and now we see why.

I think if Per is planning to be sold in jan or the following summer - then and only then can Vertoghen be on the cards.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that Mertesacker was a panic buy, but he has shown improvement, after receiving much criticism about his mobility. I think we should get Vertonghan, then we can alternate between TV5, LK6, PM4 and Vert.... whilst Vert can also play CDM so there will be competition with Song, Frimpong and Coquelin for that position. Djourou and Squillaci definitely need to be sold but thats all from defence IMO

In: Vertonghan

Out: Squillaci
Djourou

Hey ed do u no if arsenal are interested in signing marko marin? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Napoli, Juventus and Roma have all shown an interest in Marko Marin in the past. Perhaps Italy is the most likely destination, and I understand his preferred destination.}

Chellini, giovinco and hazard that's the three players Wenger wants and a Real Madrid player who hasn't set the league alight over the last 18 months, who would still break our transfer record. Add Podolski and the leagues ours. Arsenal board realise you have to buy before fair play rules kick in.

Believable5 Unbelievable18

Forget the financial fair play with these 4 foreigners all over 21 our homegrown quota won't touch the ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal is perhaps one of the best equipped clubs to deal with FFP in the world. Us and maybe Barca with their stupidly high TV revenues. Madrid will just have to get used to only paying 40m euros per season rather than 400

Agree0 Disagree0

The Home grown rule will be a bigfactor when it comes into play. Especially since a lot of players classed as home grown are probably leaving very soon. I.E. Vela Denilson, Bendtner. Arsenal might need to go and raid some premiership clubs like everton or blackburn to stock back up on hg players. In my opinion its a silly rule and borders on job discrimination

Hey Nick
He said "he reckons it will come off" it's his hunch which is based upon previous exposure to transfer dealings. Nothing is absolutely concrete atm. Podolski is done and dusted apparently. So that's good. No other deals that i've been told about atm bud. Will keep you posted.

Gotze Signing A New Contract Means Nothing Except Who Ever What's Him Must Now Pay More.

Believable26 Unbelievable4

Good tho' ain't it? (if it's not blindside).

imagine how teams like dortmund & bilbao could develop if players stayed.

european football needs an injection of something other than the same old teams because familiarity breeds contempt.

so dortmund could be a good watch next season.
MC

Agree0 Disagree0

Imagine how Southampton or West Ham could develop...it is the same everywhere. It is unfortunate but the Bosman ruling crushed any chance of that happening...poor Ajax.
Hopefully, FFP balances that a bit...
JR

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, but germany is different. Seems that the players defer to the FA, national interests seem to win out.

Will be intersting to see how dortmund develop if the players stay, with the addition of reus.

+ solvent, will they bid for dzeko?

this is a v v interesting potential.

gotze signs contract extension at borussia dortmund until 2016, looks like another target is gone, now go all out for verthongen, hazard and one of m'villa/gourcuff/valbuena/toulalan

bs18 {Ed002's Note - There was never a chnce he would have joined to Arsenal. Any move to England was most unlikely.}

Believable10 Unbelievable11

No such thing as never a chance when we're in the top 5 richest clubs in the world.

Agree0 Disagree0

In the top 5 richest clubs in the world with a club transfer record of 16mil for Arshavin. Before that I think it was Reyes? ....There was never a chnce he would have joined to Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we had a change in policy and had the backing of umansov we would be able to outbid any team accept for Bayern munich because these two are the only teams who are not in debt. and make huges profits every year so it is possible just unlikely the board will allow it.

Agree0 Disagree0

You ALWAYS fail to remember that a move to arsenal would be dependant on him wanting to join us. Money alone, doesnt get ALL players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenals record when spending big money is tragic! Mentioned above, reyes and arshavin. 9million jeffers anyone? wenger is best at uncovering gems, a skill that has lessoned since david dein left the club

Forget mario gotze! Just signed a new deal at dortmund until 2016 (dortmund website), if he was that good he would want to test himself in a better league!!

Goonerman

Believable8 Unbelievable13

This is the kind of loyalty we need from some of our players! I hold nothing against Mario, he's a fantastic player, in the best team in a league really growing in stature and competition, and he has an incredible manager too. Why would he leave? Dortmund are walking into champs league football this year, he has no reason to leave them. They have, according to most people, a world class defence, world class midfielders and top strikers, I applaud him for signing as much as I wanted him to come to us.

Eds is it a near certainty that the likes of Vertonghen and M'Vila will leave their respective clubs this summer as the media are widely reporting or is there a chance they could move in the January transfer window?

Sydney Gooner {Ed002's Note - Both will probably move this summer.}

Younes Belhanda:

"Nicollin says the Moroccan international is better than Hazard and has "two Ben Arfas and three Nasris in each leg". He is exaggerating. But not that much. Belhanda combines Nasri's ability to jink in to space and drive the team forward with Ben Arfa's technical prowess"

Is this the guy we need rather than Gotze/Hazard?

Believable24 Unbelievable2

I havent seen him before, but just watched some of him on youtube. Looks very talented and highly skillful.

Agree0 Disagree0

Second highest scorer for his club behind Giroud. We need a mid who can find the net.. Arsenal should give cash plus Chamahk and Park for both giroud and Younes Belhanda :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I get a feeling that Newcastle might snap him up. Due to their new found knowledge of Ligue 1 and French speaking players that present value for money.

Sydney Gooner {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Arsenal would be interested in Belhanda should he become available. Aside from that there is unconfirmed interest from Inter and Roma.}

Agree0 Disagree0

This boy can find the killer ball that we have been missing for so much of the season and can take a man on would be a going replacement for fab!

Ben,
Sounds great that the Vertonghen deal is apperently going to happen according to your source.

2 Questions:

1. Is it just a hunch or is it very likely?
2. Are the any other players that you've heard might be arriving?

Cheers,
Nick.

Believable16 Unbelievable5

I cant see this one happenning, as he is a very left-sided defender. We already have Vermaelen & Koscielny who both prefer to play on the left hand side of the CB pairing & two left backs. We have Mertesacker & Djourou on the right hand side of the CB partnership, as well as Miquel & Bartley coming through. There is an outside paosibility that he would be signed as cover for Song or to play alonside him in a defensive midfiels role, however, I think Wenger would prefer a specialist, such as M'Vila the defensive midfield role. In my opinion Wenger would have made a move for Vertonghen earlier in his career if he rated him highly enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Possibly with the likes of podolski he's virtually at the end of his contract/set to move whatever finally come this summer and its presented the bets oppo for the first time to purchase these types of players.

if as reported we are looking at m'vila it would mean breaking our transfer record on a DM and at his age it could also mean the death nail to coquelin.
due to vertonghens varied positional play he might offer an better option than a straight out def mid.
we might be overloaded in centre backs in the summer but squillaci will finally leave, don't see bartley making it with us and i would expect if anything miquel would get a seasoned long loan. johan and per will be still around as decent back up but as proven many times over our players injure often. {Ed002's Note - I expect Vertonghen will move to Spurs, Manchester City or Arsenal in the summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

People forget that Vertonghen can not only play in CB but is also extremely comfortable at LB/CDM as well and plays very well in all 3 positions.

Move Santos/Gibbs into LW... Use Vertonghen as first-team LB... Or partner him with Song at CDM and move Wilshere into CAM position.

It's not difficult to map it out if you think about it in-depth.

=M.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we have more than enough regular wingers/wide forwards in our squad so there is no need in using Santos as a left winger as well. Next season we'll have Podolski,Gervinho,Ryo,the Ox and possibly even Arshavin available there.
