Arsenal have just told tv that arsenal are not in for villa and that is that. Yet again the arsenal faithful are let down by an incompetent board and manager who clearly doesn't know the right way to take the club any more. In arsene Wenger I no longer trust

Disillusioned gooner

Believable56 Unbelievable64

Just like we weren't after arteta or cazorla?

Agree3 Disagree0

That dosent mean anything, wenger denies any player mentioned to him he did the same with podolski mertesacker arteta cazorla.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2013 22:19:34
Go and follow spurs then.... Or quit ya moaning
It's becoming a little boring !!

Stockers8

Agree4 Disagree0

Why would Arsenal admit such a thing to a reporter from tv! Arsenal deny everything including the transfers of Arteta, cazorla etc.. Just have to wait and see people

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why are you disillusioned? Why would we go for a player at his age and returning from injury? I think it's sensible being that this is the toughest league in the world

Agree0 Disagree2

Arteta and Cazorla were also not going anywhere..arsenal themselves have not quited rumours I thought it was a quote from Rosell? Could be wrong. Have faith dude, s'all good.
Lp

Agree1 Disagree0

Since when have Arsenal been transparent on transfers? Just because they deny talks now, doesn't mean there won't be any talks. Arshavin, Cazorla and Arshavin were all denied. Keep the faith.

Slick Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do so many people want david villa if wenger would have thought he was good he would have bought him at valencia who were in serious debt when they sold silva and villa plus his age plenty of other strikers out there like jason roberts

Agree0 Disagree3

Wenger tried to sign Podolski in the last January transfer window and a mutal agreement was made to move to Arsenal in the summer. When asked about Podolski it was denied on all fronts. The Fabregas and Nasri situation was denied by all clubs involved right up untill they left.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant believe people are citing Villa's injury problems? a broken leg in which he has recovered from and doctors have said they haven't seen a better recovery for some time. and he's been playing for quite some time . injury problems and age arent an issue. when a player is world class, nothing else matters. 31 isn't actually that age. its probably the perfect age, a 4 year deal would see him here until 35, most players go backwards after that age, spanish players tend to go on a bit longer

Agree1 Disagree0

Face it, arteta is past it, WENGER OUT

Agree0 Disagree1

So we are linked by the media not AFC, and then you are having ago at the board, when we have no idea who are targets are . Have ago at the board or manager on Fri when the window has shut.

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember standing watching a color(radio rental!) tv in belfast while the gunners won the '71 cup final - how excited standing there in full replica kit as a kid. The team in the mid 70s was weak as Liverpool were dominant but it showed me that football is cyclical we came back strongly and this team is a good team and growing and getting better. We all live the rollercoaster of the transfer windows but all true Gunners will follow the team and support those players that wear the shirt with pride - to play for Arsenal is an honour that few will ever savour so lets bathe in the glory that Giroud, Walcott, wilshire, Ramsey, Arteta, Jenkinson et al are starting to create and lets back the Gooners!

Agree0 Disagree0

If Barca won't sell, how does this make Wenger incompetent?!

Agree0 Disagree0

When, not if we sign some established names in this window and the next it will be the part time Arsenal fans come back saying how much they love Arsene Wenger. Give me a break. Go and support the spuds if your not 100% commited to our great football club. You are acting like we are in the relegation zone. Could be a lot worse. We could be in Liverpools situation.

In Arsene We Trust (Real Arsenal Fan)

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact of the matter is I want the best for the club and to be able to celebrate winning trophies again and I don't think Wenger can bring that any more. Doesn't make me a fake or plastic gooner.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2013 21:30:47
has confirmed that David Villa will not leave until the summer, sorry to be a killjoy lads but it won't happen. Mohammed Diame and Adrian Lopez is still a possibility.
89'gooner

Believable25 Unbelievable35

I'm not too fussed about us getting or not getting d villa, great player who would get goals but at his age and recent injury problems i'm sure the large fee could be used better. Really hoping we do do some business as I think all of us associated with the arsenal could use a lift and the prospect of a bit of glory... I'm not talking about the 4th place cup!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2013 07:22:42
Diame has already said he wants to stay at west ham

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2013 21:26:24
So now tv report they've been told we are not in talks with Barca. What the hell is Law doing then?

Please, for the love of Bergkamp, let this be a distraction and we sign him

Paul

Believable24 Unbelievable12

Adrian Lopez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Law is probably discussing Vermaelen and Sczechny's moves to Barca in the summer...

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably not far from the truth there mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

Villa is a smokescreen. Cuenca is the target.

Arsenal have confirmed that they are not in talks with David Villa.... well that's put a damper on my night :(!

Believable30 Unbelievable9

Why do you belive it? When have arsenal ever confirmed they are in talks for a player and why would they? This reminds me of the time wenger denied knowledge of anyone called santi cazorla a week before he signed

Agree0 Disagree0

Just in Arsene is not even talking to his wife.

Agree1 Disagree0

Correct he said he dosent knows who is cazorla.

Agree0 Disagree0

David Villa to move to Arsenal for £13.8 million.

Believable10 Unbelievable49

Yes I heard the same thing on roughly 90-100k wages apparently. If Wenger did say he wanted him i'd probably be thinking we didn't want to sign him. He doesn't like the media increasing the sales of his transfer targets and always tries to distance himself from the serious targets until he is sure they'll sign.

ed can you see canavani moving this transfer window and where do you think he will go?

is there anything to these falani rumours

champagne charlie {Ed001's Note - I expect Cavani to stay put until the summer at least, but Fellaini I am not sure about. There are some who believe Fer is being signed to replace Fellaini, though personally I don't think so. Though no one is expecting him to move to Arsenal, either way.}

Believable6 Unbelievable17

Ed in your opinion is there something going on behind the scenes at the club to do with this window.
arsenal are known for being extra quiet when it comes to transfers bur this window you seem to need an ear piece.
i just have a feeling were all going to be very happy come the end of the window.

champagne charlie {Ed001's Note - no, I am told it is not happening yet, I am still of the opinion it will be at the end of the season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2013 14:24:28
reports are arsenal have turned their attention to andre schurrle and luis gustavo, any truth in these rumours Ed?

Hi Ed,

Please give us some brief updates of the following players who have been linked with Arsenal but the interest seem to have died down:

1. Yohann Cabaye
2. Jetro Willems
3. KJ Hunterlaar
4. Asmir Begovic

Thanks mate.

PorPor {Ed001's Note - none of them are in any kind of talks to join Arsenal, hence why nothing has been heard.}

Believable2 Unbelievable24

28 Jan 2013 09:47:25
Hi ed, a while back in December there was a few story's being touted about luiz gustavo a dm at be munich being linked with us. A first team starter but be Munich very well stocked with dm's.. Martinez and schweinsteiger.. I would like to have him, boss' the holding role, world class and not to pricey.. 10-12 mill. Any interest still? Also I love the site, think you and the other ed's do a wicked job. {Ed001's Note - sorry it took a while to get back to you, I was trying to find out if there was any likelihood of a move for him. I am told it is extremely unlikely in January, though it is believed Arsenal are still interested and that he might well be available in the summer.}

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Cheer's for the answer, I'd still like it if we could do a deal for him in summer. Decent player

Agree0 Disagree0

Gustavo is exceptional. won't be going to arsenal, ever.

Good grief.....we've gone mad!

All news channels are stating arsenal are in formal talks with Villa - I hope this doesn't dent Girouds confidence he's started to play so well.

Additionally, now a load of websites are saying we've banged a big bid in for that hair bear bloke....and Everton have bought a replacement so let's see that happen!!

Then we'll just added big Diame to back up Diaby and how strong will we look on paper.

I'm so excited and I'm 44!

Believable17 Unbelievable35

Must be your age fancy getting that excited !! But so am I !! and i'm 44 as well so its defo our age LOL

LOL! I know how you feel ...this lil knot of anticipation that can be mistaken for excitement or constipation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud should be okay villa will be for the tight games were you need to take your chances, Giroud will be perfect when you need a physical presence. Likewise I think felleni would be for those games when cazorla gets crowded out.

Update..... Everton have asked for Mikel Arteta to be included in the deal but Arsenal have offered Arshavin and 17 million or a 22 million straight cash offer, expect things to happen tomorrow afternoon/evening negotiations are ongoing as I type this, all the doubters, you wait and see!

Believable13 Unbelievable36

22million CASH?!

3434

Agree0 Disagree0

So we're saying Arshavin is worth 5m? Everton might have been daft enough to let Arteta go, but they're not that stupid.
Everton want Arteta included in the deal? Where did you hear this? Be honest, you made it up, right?

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea are still in for Fellaini, long way to go yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2013 19:04:12
Our negotiator Dick Law is in Barcelona trying to get this deal for Villa pushed through.
Villa wants more game time, Tito played him for 90 versus Osasuna, but I'm sure he won't do the same in El Classico on Wednesday.
I didn't think there was any chance of this going through, until it was confirmed Villa has requested the move and Law being there.
The bad news is with him there till Thursday and this strange lack of multitasking ability from Wenger, the board and our solicitors when it comes to negotiations, I can't see anyone else coming in.
Personally I'd prefer Fellaini to come in, to help rotate/rest Jack and Santi.

Anyway, first part was fact, second was opinion

Paul

Believable13 Unbelievable17

Jordi Roura replaced Tito for the game as manager, if you didn't know this you can't claim to know that Dick Law is definetly at Barca negotiating for Villa, surely?

fellaini will not be signing for us.. if he is to go he will go to chelsea! according to my sources there is no talks between arsenal or everton...they are usually very reliable...

looking more and more likely that arsenal won't sign anyone during the transfer window... which in all honesty is disgraceful considering the lack of depth we have and the challenges we have ahead of us. i.e top 4 finish, bayern, fa cup!

Fellow Gunners, I have it on very good authority (from the same person who told me that Arsenal had signed Thomas Vermaelen, Koscielny, and Rosicky) that we have indeed had a bid accepted for Maroune Fellani. I do not know if we are the only side to have one accepted but I know he is keen to get first team football which he will get more of at Arsenal.

I also have heard that Villa, Jovetic, Carvani are all out of question as are Hummels, Gotze, Bender, Reus. I have heard, however, that Wenger is in for a centre back that can also play full back.

Fingers crossed

Believable20 Unbelievable22

So why are talks ongoing for Villa?

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't he get first team football at Everton? At Arsenal he' be up against:

Jack, Santi, Rosicky, Ramsey, Arshavin, Arteta, Ox....

He'd be used in a rotation system surely.

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini didn't play time? LOL.

all hotting up right now, reports saying we have all but signed 1 player already just now just need to dot the i's and cross the t's. announcement could be later or in the morning, pretty bold prediction to be fair which is why I believe their is some truth in it. I was told it's not Villa either, interesting.

if David Villa starts against Madrid Wednesday you can kiss goodbye to that story.

Believable13 Unbelievable11

Its set to be announced a deal has been struck between AC Milan and Man City for the transfer of £17 million pounds for Balotelli, bad news for Arsenal's chances of signing Stevan Jovetic.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Could also be bad news for David Villa transfer, there interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

More like good news.

Jovetic get rave reviews. If Napoli have kept Cavani, and both Juve and Milan have strengthened their attacking options, then it's all the more likely that if Jovetic was sold, it would be abroad.

... still not likely at all, I'm just making a point about how Balotelli to Milan has f-all to do with Jovetic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he means city will sign him bro

Fellainis buy out clause of 22 million has been met by Arsenal this morning, Everton are looking for replacement Leroy Fer from fc twente before they let Fellaini discuss personal terms with Arsenal 100% gospel!Mark

Believable27 Unbelievable30

I would love this to be true but its best not to believe it, would be short sighted of everton not to have checked if there was anyone else on earth other than their main rivals for champions league spot whod be prepared to trigger the clause, I also think chelsea will do so if it looks like he's going to go to us. wait for "we were never ever in for fellaini". friday at 10am. it means we asked and offered a straight swap for squilachi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellini ismore than reported 22mil you will not get him, arse wouldn't spend what he is worth, and someone would just out bid you as always and give him better wages, he's on more at us than you would pay now haha, felli going nowhere 100%

Agree0 Disagree0

If the clause is triggered Everton have to allow Arsenal to talk personal terms with Fellaini, assuming he wants to go... I have a feeling a deal has been in place, but Everton are hanging onto the player as long as possible in the window, whilst they negotiate for a replacement, without alerting clubs as to how much they have to spend & how desperate they are. Hence, Wenger throwing everyone off the scent with talk of Diame & Villa.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying this is inaccurate, and would like to see him play for arsenal, just don't know how he would fit into the side? This then makes me question whether wenger would sanction such a deal for the headache it causes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow!

I ma going to belive this one simply because I REALLY want to!!

Hackney Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton are indeed looking at him but I don't believe for a muinute Arsene would pay all that for him when Diame only 3.5m

Agree0 Disagree0

You're just jumping on the bandwagon because Everton are signing a cm

Agree0 Disagree0

If they have met the clause then Everton would not be able to make us wait to discuss personal terms... Tight Mouthed Larry

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently I heard that the buyout clause also has to be from a currently competeing champions league club, meaning chelsea can't trigger it!.. but we can

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini could just be showing respect for his club by waiting until a replacement is lined up, he doesn't have to talk to arsenal straight away

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2013 14:33:03
Two players, maybe three will arrive by 11pm on Thursday night.

The club have agreed a deal with Everton for Fellaini, with Rosicky going the other way. Unsure whether it's a loan or permanent.

The other is Ben Arfa. A fee has been agreed and we're now talking to the players representatives.

Zouma and N'Koulou are both possibilities.

Ed; - What do you think about Arsenal getting Jovetic? Could be great but wouldn't like sitting on the bench. (not saying he wouldn't start ahead of Giroud).

Patty {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Roma, Napoli and Spurs have shown interest in Jovetic over the past 18 months, but Manchester City, Arsenal, Palermo and Juventus remain interested if the price is acceptable for a transfer. At this time it seems most likely he will stay in Florence for the entire season after bids from Juventus and Manchester City were rejected during the past summer. I think it would take a very significant bid to change that in January. He was very clearly the primary target for Manchester City next summer and until recent comments from the player and his agent that he does not want to leave Italy, I could certainly see that happening. The clear alternative is Juventus who have very clear targets and a significant budget to buy a player to play off their main striker. They have identified three possible players - and Jovetic is one.}

I also think the same ...rumour was we made 2 bids for him in the summer transfer window but both were rejected....plus now they have moussa sissoko and tieote so maybe yes ...lets hope he signs for us

Agree0 Disagree0

He is kinda the Arteta type player that Wenger said we were in the market for, you might be onto something. I personally wouldn't mind having him on our team!

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2013 14:00:16
But no mention of it anywhere that I can recall. The bottom line is Arsenal are 'in' for everyone and their dog, but will sign nothing during this window. Look forward to a very inconsistent season with performances from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

Strongly linked with Wanyama and M'Vila in the summer, then linked with the likes of Diame.

... surely if we're in for a midfielder it would be a more physical if not out-and-out defensive midfielder?

big news coming out of the David villa Camp yesterday which they leaked to media, On twitter, Villa has told Barca he wants to go to Arsenal, and that Arsenal are in Barca for the last week trying to negotiate.

Huge news. heres hoping.

Believable55 Unbelievable29

No doubting Villa is a class act but he's 31.A very unArsene signing if he makes it.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes agree that he is getting on a bit however he will provide the much needed experience we lack in the team. He has won the euros, world cup, champions league has been an integral part of the Spanish team and Barcelona. Just feel we will get more than just a world class striker here. Maybe just what we need
Mark

Agree0 Disagree0

100% reliable, who was the so called 30 million bid he mentioned on his website.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because there has been no official confirmation of a 30m bid doesn't mean it didn't happen...

Agree0 Disagree0

30mil bid!! not 30mil agreed transfer done deal....

Agree0 Disagree0

The rumour appears to be deleted from GeoffArsenal ... Hmmm

Agree0 Disagree0

A person has quickly removed the bit of information due to putting his source's position at the club in jeopardy

Agree0 Disagree0

When people have sources, the source will not tell you, we have bid 100 million for messi and he has agreed 100 a week wages like. if the source gets caught or the news gets out, the club know that somebody let the news out and will likely discipline them,

people saying he's to old? he's 31 and his legs aren't gone yet. he's likely to be on a 4 year deal I would guess, 12 million for that ? yes please, cheap and world class just like Santi.

Agree0 Disagree0

He may be 31 but 2/3 years ago he was the best striker in the world. And given that our last few signings have been the likes of Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla, Mertesacker, ARTETA, Gervinho... it looks as though Wenger's finally turned his back on the youth project.

He'll still promote from within of course, but the reliance on youth (purely for because they're cheaper to buy and are a better investment in terms of resale value) has gone. He's now buying players in their prime and way past their prime (i.e. Arteta). So I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a bid for Villa.

... definitely wouldn't be anywhere near the 30m mark though!

Agree0 Disagree0
