Apparently we're in talks with Dortmund over Goetze...

(all over twitter)

Ben

Believable8 Unbelievable6

So if the players we are being linked with do sign...you still want Wenger out?

arsenalyeti

Agree0 Disagree0

M8 apparently itsdied down, and now wer in 4 gourcuff

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope to God this is true, he is a quality player that could sort out our problems in the creativity department, still, it was said that we were in talks with Hazard, and now that appears to be dead, still, I'll have my fingers crossed for the next 48 hours.

We need better than Benyoun or Alex of Chelsea , god we're finished as a club , mid table this year , and it's all Arsenes Fault . please someone on the board act now or else its a rapid downhill spiral from now till the end of the season .

Believable9 Unbelievable7

Why oh why do you trust this board and Silent Stan more than our manager? Sure, he makes tactical mistakes but the Board are responsible for the lack of investment into the first team and bringing in replacements for Cesc and Nasri. Wenger stated on many occasions it was important that they both stayed. Why would he say this and then not replace them if he was at all authorized to do so?

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex is a class above every other defender we have except for vermaarlen

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed! We need versatile defenders who can get stuck into to the ankles of attackers and shoot from distance too

Agree0 Disagree0

How crazy are the people who keep asking for Wenger to be replaced...the club came 4th last season..beat Barcelona, were beating them in Spain until RVP was unfairly sent off, should have won the League Cup and have qualified for the champions league for the last 15 years playing some of the best football in the world...do you really think any club can compete with 1 billion n Man City have spent...of course Arsenal are going to lose players...yes this is a rough patch but now is not the time to panic..there is no point in bidding 25m for a player when Man City, Chelsea or Liverpool will bid 28m and double his wages..I don't think anyone gets why we are coming in so late...it's part of the game. Do you really think Arsenal could have outbid Chelsea for Juan Mata...answer no...so they backed off and are able to agree deals for 2 or 3 chelsea players. Everyone knows everyone..a deal isn't just about 1 player in 1 player out.

Delighted with Santos, he is a top player. Powerful runner, great going forward and he is a left back who can defend, which we haven't had since cashley This is great news. This Is going to be a busy 2 days

After several knock backs for Baines, Jagielka, Arteta and fellaini Mr Wenger has decided instead to buy Everton Football Club {Ed025's Note - if he offered decent money to everton for players..he might get one....he wants to shop in harrods...and pay netto prices!

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Don't you mean ... shop at Netto and pay Harrods prices?

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats netto, is that like aldi or lidl?
Rob

{Ed022's Note - Rob is obviously up market, like Tescos 24hr garages and the like! Rob, just for the record, Netto is the worst place in the world where food is soooo cheap but the quality shows in the price. Their isn't any...}

Arsenal could have bought many players in
break the wage structure
still be finally sound ... how you ask

by the greedy board who sold their shares for 100's of millions instead of selling it for nothing and giving back the money to the club they so called love.

Arsenal is about money now not about the football for the board

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Why don't you sell your house and give the money back to the community.

You obviously understand very little about the board and see them as an easy target

Just heard we are in for Andre Santos from Fenerbache, quality left back IMO, so maybe the deals should be

Andre Santos
Gary Cahill
Park Chu Young
Hazard (Heres hoping)

That should help us get back on track, and when suspensions expire and players come back from injury, we should have a pretty good squad, good enough at least to challenge for a top four spot.

guys we need to sell Arshavin hes getting paid 6million a year and hes C**P.

then we can give that money to hazard or sum1 half decent :(

WILL ~:)

Believable13 Unbelievable7

Hey you know we all think that about the guy sometimes, but looking back he was never about being a team player - he is a flair striker, a creative attacking player he doesn't work as an all round mid;

Just look at him playing for his country or other teams - they get the best out of him by letting him play his natural game... And not bother so much defending;

Who remembers his 4 goal haul in his first start? Nobody would have said he wasn't worth the money we paid then But for all Wengers brilliance; I don't think Arshavin was ever going to fit the mould; he is just too selfish off the ball just hanging around waiting to nick goals or play people in.

Infact of all the players Arsene allegedly failed to make the most of; my personal is Arshavin.

Great great player in any other team but doesn't seem to want to adapt to our team play ethic so it's shake hands bye bye time I would think.

Shame though that our (current) 2 best creative midfielders are -

Arshavin - well out of form looking bad
Rosicky - not the player he was

Hopefully though, Rosicky can give us a year or two decent run in the team (because he WAS as good Cesc before that injury rubbish) tracks back too when he is in the mood and fights for the team.

Arshavin on the other hand; and NOBODY will agree to this:

I think he is wasted at the moment. Clearly he is not a workrate player - fine ok but he knows where the goal is. Stick him upfront with Van Persie and watch the goals fly. As long as those two are STAYING upfront and getting decent service .... We don't need any extra strikers for now

Agree0 Disagree0

Problem is our midfield is far too weak creatively now to stick him up top and expect him to get chances. We're struggling badly to create anything other than through Walcott's pace through hte middle or Gervinho's trickery.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that Arshavin is better suited to playing a freer role in behind a striker. Stick RVP or Walnut infront of him in a 4-4-2 and we'd score lots.

Hi Ed,
the writer of an arsenal blog called Le Grove is saying on twitter that we are in talks for a big money exciting midfielder...do you have any idea if this is true and who it might be?
Thanks
S23

Believable9 Unbelievable3

According to goal.com its goetze..but unsuccessful as of yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like it's definitely a defensive midfielder, and Le Grove mentioned that it was similar of the caliber of player Wenger signed pre-2006. Reyes like? That was exciting to be fair.
De Jong or De Rossi?

Agree0 Disagree0

Le Grove said it's not Goetze. They also said, 'exciting doesn't mean creative'.
Sounds like a defensive midfielder. I'm assuming it's De Rossi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Le Grove (in my past experiences) seems to be full of racist teenagers banging on about FM style signings and stuff they just made up....

So obviously it's there word or my word; but would take everything on their with a pinch. Last time I went on there to try to find common ground they were spamming up GoonerNews sites and being abusive.

Ended up they all started ganging up on me calling me a spy lol because I asked them for their views minus the vitriolic angst.

Didn't go down too well Big player? Well that could mean anything, personally Arteta and that Brazilian LB in, Arshavin upfront with RVP and Song and Frimpong sharing cleanup duty.

yeah Arsenal will be rocking again

Agree0 Disagree0

"it was similar of the caliber of player Wenger signed pre-2006"

if def mid- vieria
then it must be someone like de rossi

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't it be Yann M'Vila the Rennes midfielder Arsenal bid 22 million pounds for?

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the guy who will be replacing Nasri. XHERDAN SHAQIRI. Swiss international from FC Basel. Very Very good player.

i think the signing of andre santos would be a very good one for us. if we get him and a good CB maybe alex or gary cahill, we would have a good defence. Also if we can bring in a couple of midfielders. i dont know how true it is but im hearing we bid 26m euros for mario goetze but dortmund say they want 35mil. I think im begining to get a bit of hope that we could still have a great season if we can pull this off.

andre santos
alex
benayoun
park chu young
mariou goetze/eden hazard

Believable10 Unbelievable2

More speculation over Gotze, (name reminds me of a horrible internet meme). From ESPNsoccernet live transfer blog:

"There is also speculation Arsenal are keen on Borussia Dortmund's Mario Gotze, although the German side are said to want 35 million for the 19-year-old."

Sigh, speculation on top of speculation. At this point, signing anyone would be nice from a sheer numbers perspective.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Gotze = Goats*
my god i just burst out laughing
thank you un named Gooner im laughing so much

Agree0 Disagree0

Goetze has massive potential, and has already proved a lot for Dortmund last season. Would love him at Arsenal, but 35m for a 19 year old is absurd, especially considering our club record is less than half that. Need to focus on getting steadier heads in to avoid games like Sunday, one 19 year old attacking mid isn't going to do that.

ANDRE SANTOS £7MILLION

Believable12 Unbelievable4

Hmmm where are your panic merchants now?

Five minutes ago Wenger and Arsenal could burn and die

Now we have a Brazilian LB world cup winner who is just about 6ft tall, 27 quick on his feet and skillful

What more could you want from a 'Wenger' signing ... Because of course Wenger signs crap cheapy players only

HA HA and HA so succinctly put by Peter Griffin's evil twin brother

So recap on Common Sensei rumours;

Said Cesc will leave 35odd million ... OK
Said Clichy would go £10M(Near enough)
Said Nasri will stay ............... Not to be
Said Benzema coming ..... errr not to be
Said Alex Chamberlain coming ........ OK
Said no keeper it's Shezzaah ........ OK

4 / 8 not a bad lot, the remaining two wereL

Said 1 more CB by Wednesday ........ ??
Said 1 more Striker by Wednesday ... ??

COMMON SENSEI

Agree0 Disagree0

It is only a rumour... cant see it being true reallly...
would be great if it was tho

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad we have a LB, hope the deal comes off. a british/turkish friend e-mailed me saying he can attack a lot better than clichy and defend much better as well and is certainly much better than young gibbs is right now. Reckons we're going like this guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah we maybe giving them Bendtner as a sort of exchange

Agree0 Disagree0

Why the bloody hell would Everton want Bendtner? LOL

Oh yeah they have less bodies than us Jesus Arsenal used to stand for prestige - you know harmony through victory, respect all of that;

We spent 4 years bemoaning Barca then go and try to steal players just the same leaving 24 hours for the other club

Honestly Arsenal where is your soul you had better recover it and fast

Really hope Arsenal make yet another amazing comeback :) I have faith, and to the Evertonian - I really believe Moyes would have already planned for this ... Most likely Wenger can sort some stuff out even though everybody slates his transfer dealings;

They are actually pretty good apart from the last 2 years.

Bit of Arsenal news for you guys. Arsenal have been chatting to Elia's representatives for the past few days along with the South Korean's representatives. But Juventus have tried to hijack the Elia deal. Arsenal have arranged a meeting with Gonzalez' reps for tomorrow. Cahill & Ogbonna are still being looked at along with M'Vila.

Ed002 - Have you heard anything on any of this?

Sydney!

Believable6 Unbelievable8

If true (and nowadays that's a big "if"), how are Juve going to make up for no CL football? Tripling his wages maybe?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Juve are spending big, they have a much better squad than last year and are looking to win the Serie A title. I have to say at the moment they look to be in better shape than Arsenal and they have the new stadium.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gonzalez?!

Elia's first name is Eljero, M'Vila's is Yann and Chu-Young's is Park

made contact over benayoun. he would be sat on the bench doubt he would get a game as i feel we have better players already, not good enough. kinda shows that we cant attract the quality we need. not looking good. i mean come on arsenal, theres a reason he cant get a game at chelsea

Believable3 Unbelievable10

I think he would be good to add depth to the squad actually, he would easily have played for us at old trafford yesterday. but he better not be the replacement that wenger is bringin for midfield

He's better than Rosicky for me. But I'll agree that he's certainly not the quality of player I'd hope to attract.

According to SSN we have made an enquiry into Benayoun (or however its spelt). Is this going to be our 'big' signing?

We need to buy qaulity, Lets build from the back.

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Arsenal get baines or jagielka i think baines then get 1 defence mid m'villa
3 mids elia, mario gonzlaez, hope hazerd.

I can confirm we are in transition. We will sign either 2 cb's or one and a left back,

Cahill and Baines or some experience back up player

In the creative area's expect an name but not from the top draw.

We will fight for 4th, and tempt talent in Jan, for next reason. The pressure is off and at last the kids can develop. We probably will win a cup if we respect the competition.

Gary Cahill and Park Chu-Young WILL sign for Arsenal within the next 48 hours. Supposedly we have agreed personal terms with Hazard, but a fee is yet to be agreed, and I hope to God that Wenger will put a last ditch bid for someone like Lucho Gonzalez or Yann M'Vila.
If all this does hopefully happen our squad would be decent enough for top 4.

Szczesny
Sagna Cahill Vermaelen Gibbs
M'Vila Song
Wilshere
Gervinho/Walcott RVP Hazard

Subs- Fabianski, Koscienly, Djourou, Frimpong, Ramsey, Arshavin and Park.

With just 4 signings we could prevent a disaster at least until we can strengthen more in January. C'mon guys lets support Wenger and stand by our team, the only way is up

Believable9 Unbelievable9

How many timeshazard has said himself he is staying at lille.when he wants to move he will have his choice of the worlds best teams.he isnt coming to arsenal

Hazard says he is definitely staying. gutted. it has taken him quite a while to say this so maybe we were negotiating but mucked up the negotiations again or maybe wouldn't offer him big enough wages. Or perhaps negotiations broke down because of the park chu young deal.

Either way, we are almost certainly not getting him and it is starting to seem like we wont sign a top quality midfielder.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

He said he was stayin all along thats not the 1st of him sayin it

I'm not an arsenal fan (Liverpool infact) but before you start eating my face off I thought I'd poinb something out to all arsenal fans.
Park chu young is from Korea and every man has to do 2 years service for the army before he is 30. Park hasn't done his yet and he is 26 so you would only be getting a max of two years from the next four.
This is why Liverpool pulled out their interest in him and turn to bellamy.
Please post this in rumours ed's so arsenal fans can see this :) thanks

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Its by 35 for the army thing

Agree0 Disagree0

Not strictly true. Exceptions can be made.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm..I heard he meets the exemption rules...we'll see.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone knows this already. Its been posted like 3 times

Agree0 Disagree0

I have read that the reason arsenal will be paying £5million for him instead of 3 is because we are paying 2 million towards getting him out of doing the national service

Agree0 Disagree0

Bellamy should make for a better long term signing...

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there are exceptions also.
benayoun would have had to serve in the israeli army but he met some criteria that allowed him to continue playing football.
perhaps being an international player would do it. Maybe the service is posponed until the player retires from football. Just a thought

Is anyone else tired of hearing the words 'He has great potential' we need players that have shown there potential and willing to play beyond it for example
Gary Cahill
Scott Parker
Phil Jagielka
Lucho Gonzalez
Alex
Yossi Benayoun
Not only would these players give Arsenal the exprience we would also have players that allow the youngsters to push forward with confidence

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Yep could get all those for 50-60 mil I guess- I hear where you're coming from...let the young players develop and mature around them- its what we've missed for many seasons now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Benayoun could have same impact on Arsenal that Ginola had for Tottenham. A big money signing wont necessarily solve the problems straight away (ie Torres at Chelsea).

That's right.
Vieira, Pires, Bergkamp, Henry bring up the youngsters.
What have we had since? slightly older youngsters helping kids.

They would sell him because Mancini doesn't like him. Previously, City's board would not allow him to be sold to a rival, but since Mancini secured CL football and won the FA cup, he has more power in the club now, so it is more likely he will be sold.

Lets get some truth for once, whos fault is it wenger or the board do we have money or do the board want to keep it all,we need the truth and either wenger or the board out as we are a total joke,if its the board hit them where it hurts and stay away and hopefully they will f off

Agree0 Disagree0

To LOOSING HOPE :(

Common Sensei here, dude we are all feeling gutted about the united result, I think we all saw a loss coming but nobody really considered such a heavy loss...

The discipline issue is just caused by widespread panic, new authority angles with new capt etc - and maybe the old inexperience didn't help matters.

There were good signs though - Walcott berating Jenko for a bit of defensive naivety (he FINALLY seems to want to take some responsibility and not just leg it around aimlessly). Also he has already scored a couple of goals, which we are screaming out for.

TV5 came back in looking pretty good and we should see him back in 2 weeks, alongside Kos (possibly a new CB too) with Sagna and Jenko either side. I doubt we will buy another LB now until January, though we clearly lack LBs 2 would have been better.

Finally Van Persie: He should have been made captain YEARS ago, none of this rubbish about Thierry or Cesc just because of their glamour value.

I for one ALWAYS preferred VP as a man, a player, and as an Arsenal man.

So if we can just forget for 5 mins the humiliation suffered at OT, and look to the future it is not so bad:

I see Arsenal bouncing back violently against the Swans, you can bet your bottom dollar they are pantsing it

Arsenal have been deal a savage blow - but we will rise again.....

I understand the board was furious with Arsenals performance on sunday, and have told Arsene wenger in no uncertain terms, that any more performances like this will not be tolerated. The board are also very upset that they have been accused of not making funds available, when there is a substantial amount available, but they leave the recruitment of the playing side to arsene wenger, and as for not being high payers we are the 4th highest in the prem league. Behind City, Chelsea ,Man.utd, but that is to be expected, as they are 3 of the richest clubs in the world. There is money there, if it is not spent that is down to wenger not the board.

Believable16 Unbelievable8

Ok stan thanks for coming on here and speaking up for a change:)

A more reliable source than Lady B-S and Usmanov who have both been quoted in the press as saying the exact oposite.
I don't doubt you, I am just interested if this is an inside story or pub tale.

Agree0 Disagree0

The point is the wage cap is down to the board not wenger there may well be money to be spent but you trying telling a playing to come and play for a club where he can get half the money he will get else where Get a clue before you write such stupid things mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Bollocks, of course the board would say that. Shift the blame. If they wanted things done they would get done, end of story. And they need to stop going on about this wage malarky - we do not pay our best players anywhere near enough, and we pay our scrotes far too much, that is the only reason why we are near the top of the wage thing, because they assess it collectively. The fact that Joey Barton has just signed for QPR on wages equal to Fabregas is an absolute disgrace. How's about paying Bendtner 30k a week and Fabregas (at the time) 150k, that would be more like it. person board.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that you Peter Hillwood?

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

I think your way off here with the wages thing maybe your a little confused arsenal are not the 4th highest payers in the leauge they have the 4th highest wage bill which is way different this is distored due to high squad numbers and young players recruited on big wage s

Agree0 Disagree0

I strongly believe this post. I am also not surprised by the reactions to this post that just about sums the state of the Club and ignorance its fans, atleast the majority of them. One look at the Financial statements could throw light on the Free Cash available with the club. Not everything may be used for transfers, still it could give a sufficient indication

Agree0 Disagree0

You are joking? Is it not obvious that the situation we're in now is because of the board, yet they have the front to have a go at Wenger for the situation they've put him in and expect him to take the blame? Ridiculous

Mike.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually, we aren't ignorant. We pay rubbish players who don't start for the team more than the entire Fulham squad. Tell me that's us fans being ignorant.

speaking of ignorance... we don't pay the 4th top wages, already explained above- so that discredits that post straightaway- just because there is money there, in fact we all know there is bloody money there, but the willingness to let wenger spend it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you saying that the Board are furious at the performance or the fact that we shipped 8 goals?
If it's the latter they should pay more attention, we finished last season playing very poorly. So they used the closed season to:-
(a) Line their pockets
(b) Insist that AW strengthens the squad with all the money that's burning holes in their pockets.

Oh For F*** Sake. We pray for signings and what do we get?

Alex - The Defender that made Shane Long look like Messi. Clumsier than Doujorou. This man is awful.

Benayoun - Had his hay-day a long time ago. There is a reason Chelsea are letting him leave for FREE.

Park Chu Young - Ok, this lad may be decent. But his team got relegated and he's no exactly a world class signing is he? They say he will cost 5-10 million. Take the 12 million we spent on AOC and put them together, spend 20 million on Higuain. Simple.

That will be our lot, and that is P*** poor.

Believable17 Unbelievable5

See for me, if we're going to spend 10-12 mil on a player from a worse league whose team got relegated then we may as well sign Rodallega, who isn't really good enough. World class my a$$, I am embarrassed, hung over and fed up. I genuinely felt that on weds night / thurs morning the headlines would be saying 'Arsenal sign start striker, start mid and star defender after qualification for champions league'.... but no. Sometimes it really is hard being positive. I genuinely thought our board and Wenger would have 3 or 4 players lined up ready to sign if we got through, which for me was never in question.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

The club have a wage structure. They cna't pay the wages of players like Higuain. I think people need to accept this. Or go follow Man City

Scooby Dooby K

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry but alex could do a better job than all four of your defenders, he conceded one goal because of a shocking back-pass from ramires. sign alex and you will stay in the top four.

Agree0 Disagree0

You think Higuain would be 20 million? Why would Real let go of a quality young striker, when they only have 2 in the first place.. It would take like 40 million to get him to leave, which would never happen anyway.. Some people know nothing about football

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^^ Hes Not Better Than Vermaelen

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should we follow man City? Screw the wage structure. It is farcical. We need to keep up, it's 2011 and we still live in the 90s. Fabregas on 90-120k depending on who you believe, in footballing terms, is an utter disgrace. Joey Barton just signed for 100k at QPR.

And why is Bendtner on 52k a week? That's higher than every player at Blackburn apparently, for a player who was never even a regular unless RVP was injured. It's a joke.

Agree0 Disagree0

A alex and vermalen partnersip will be great

watford gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

P.s. what are you on about, Alex is a great defender.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex is a good defender and in my opinion a better option than Gary Cahill. Just can't figure out why Chelsea would let him leave and for £10 million? I think it would take more than that.
What Arsenal fans need to understand is that you have a wage cap like many clubs, including Man Utd and now even Chelsea to some degree. Ok Man Utd's is slightly higher, but not by much as is proven in the players they have missed out on like Dzeko, Silva and Nasri.
Its a squad game nowadays and Wenger needs to drastically bolster his squad with players who fit into the wage structure. If he goes and breaks that for one ot two players then Arsenal will have to pay Van Persie, Wiltshire and Vermalen the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex is clearly better than Djourou, Koscielny, Squilaci etc

Arsenal were at first interested in the services of Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka however his price tag put the Emirates side off with Wenger now agreeing a deal with Bolton for Cahill that will see the 25 year old join up with Arsenal within the next 48 hours.
SOURCE: FootyBunker
Arsene Wenger appears to have been spurred into action by yesterday™s shocking display at Old Trafford and according to this source, moves to sign two much needed additions are very much in the works. The Arsenal boss has thus far only brought in two teenagers, Carl Jenkinson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Ivory Coast striker Gervinho but a string of injuries and the departures of Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri have left the North London club in something of a crisis.
There has been a fair amount of back and forth in relation to Arsenal™s interest in England international Gary Cahill and a recent war of words between Wenger and Bolton chairman Phil Gartside threatens to derail a move to bring the Trotters man to North London.
Arsenal are now willing to offer around £12m for the former Aston Villa man and given that Owen Coyle brought a replacement for Cahill in January, David Wheater, a deal may well be on the cards. Wenger needs defensive reinforcements as last summer™s signings Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci have struggled.
Thomas Vermaelen appears the club™s only truly reliable centre back and Cahill would be a solid partner for the Belgian international.
The second player said to be heading to Arsenal is Lille playmaker Eden Hazard, seen as an ideal replacement for Samir Nasri. The young Belgian will cost Wenger in the region of £22m and he is a long term target who happily combines youth and experience.
The 20 year old Belgian is closing in on 150 top tier appearances and helped his Lille side to their first domestic title in over 50 years. Hazard is also a regular in the Belgian international set-up.
Arsenal are also looking to complete deals to sell Nicklas Bendtner and Manuel Almunia before the end of the transfer window.

send Djorou and Squillaci to warm the bench.. and bring in a solid CB and LB..
that's what we need last season.. last last season.. and more important right now.. You can't win anything when your have Djouro and Squillaci in your First XI..

Benayoun whilst getting along a bit in years, is a very good player - fans won't like him because he has played for Spurs and now Chelsea; but put it this way, he could have walked straight into the Nasri or the Fabregas role against United and at least had a few shots at goal and created a bit He is not exactly going to rock the squad :) But is definitely a good pro and a good player.

SWP is so-so at best, he is just so bloody small

Believable9 Unbelievable8

I have my suspicions that Wenger actually registers far more players than we ever get to hear about or see...

I mean the rules cover squad and team registrations, but there are no rules saying you cannot train say 500 recruits at your ground and sell them off on load or whatever.

For all we know there could be dozens of wonderkids lying around, it's probably how Arsene manages to 'find' them again the next season lol

Stranger things have happened and perhaps this is why when we are all panicking Wenger is going on about working hard and needing time.

I mean if it's hard work and it needs time then it's pretty much done I assume

3 more bodies hopefully

Traore is on his way to QPR according to sky sports & the daily mail. I have constantly asserted that it is pointless speculating about a new LB as Wenger categorically stated in July that he was happy with what we have in the position. However, with one of his guarantors for Gibbs' injury record on the way out, maybe we will see a shock late move?

It is a bit of a shame we could not get botelho a work permit yet, he looks fairly promising. but i would be very happy to see wenger go back on his word having identified LB as a problem area. As for a new signing, I doubt any of us would know a name until they were at the medical.

oleg maputo

Believable8 Unbelievable2

And that's the way it should be. As soon as we are linked with a player everyone (especially Tottenham) are all over it like a rash. Consequently the price goes through the roof and that's us out of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he did say that, however, if you recall he said we have gibbs and traore and even tv5 can play there if necessary.

Well...that's 1 option about to leave, another who's injury prone and our best CB by far...filling in at lb?

Playing sagna there seems wasted, althoigh he has done well, playing one of the best RB's at lb all time just seems a complete waste of his ability imo.

He must have someone lined up surely?

By going further into debt with his 250K per week wages, something which the Arsenal board are not prepared to do.What happens when this FIFA/UEFA ruling comes into effect that your annual wage bill can only be a certain % of your annual turnover.Clubs are going to struggle even more, and you may see more clubs going into administration. The way the Arsenal board is keeping the wage bill down, will stand the club in good stead when this new ruling comes into effect.

Rooney on £250,000 a week? What utter rubbish. You obviously read the Daily Sport

When the financial fairplay ruling come's in next season no one will be in a better position than Arsenal. Mr Wenger and the board have a plan, patience is the key, don't listen to the cut throat media

There is no one else I would rather manage my club, be careful what you wish for

Believable10 Unbelievable2

arsenal need:
Jagielka 10-15million
Parker 5-10million
Hazard 25-30million (a lot of post coming in saying he isnt that good, but from what pundits are saying, he is quality, so it would be unfair to judge him on 1 match)
Elia 15-20million
Cisse 10-20million

i think those signings will strengthen up our squad and team, it is affordable and i dont think any of those players have massively high wages. it is also a good mixture of young and experience players.

The week leading upto the champions league 2nd leg it was obvious that we wouldn't sign anyone until we knew if we qualified. All that time though I honestly believed that we had lined up at least 3 players were to make it through, in that we had spoken to clubs and agents etc and made in known of our interest and if we did qualify we would quicky wrap up these deals. Accourding to rumour, quotes and reports it seemed that these players would be the CB we need Jags/Cahill/Dann a striker Zarate and a high profile creative mid Hazard/Kaka/Martin all for somewhere in the regin of £50 million which to me at least seemed very realistic even for us due to all the sales. But now with just 2 and a bit days to go we are signing a striker from who looks ok but nothing specialand prob get Cahill on last day but it now seems there will be no major signing, no creative replacement and without that I am really starting to get worried. Like I said though still 2 days to go and pull this out the bag

Believable13 Unbelievable1

Im with you on most of that. I, like you, thought that we had players just waiting to sign providing we got through into the Champions League. It was cetainly the impression that the papers gave. I get very cheesed off with all the money that is in the board but we lose players due to the wage structure. (Nasri went...Mata ent to Chelsea) How may others have we lost out on due to wages? It also seems funny that we have been going down hill since David Dean was forced out. Didn't he want AFC to pay higher wagers and spend more He was also excellant in negotiations and Arsene's right hand man. He took alot of pressure off Arsene

Apparently there could be an issue with the Park Chu-Young transfer. Monaco might block his move having agreed terms with Lille. Unlikely but it looks like Arsenal are having to work very hard to sort the deal out now. Not sure who the other options are if it falls through. From what I hear the deal is still expected to go through.

IMO to challenge we need to buy - Cahill, Vertonghen, M'Vila, Hazard and Cavani. Maybe an amc as well like Hamsik.

Then we could have a team like -
Szczesney
Sagna Cahill Vertonghen Vermaelen
M'Vila Wilshere
Gervinho RVP Hazard
Cavani

Call it 442 or 4231 doesn't matter.

Realistically from the rumours I hear we will sign Park, Cahill and Danillo.

I see we're linked with alex of chelsea again.

Chelsea value him at 10mil, arsenal at 7mil-

is this the problem with arsenal in the transfer market ? If the selling club value the player at a certain price, who cares what arsenal value the player at?

They are the selling club and set a price, ok haggle a little bit, but if the selling club maintain that they still value him at a certain price, then that is the DAMN PRICE AND PAY UP- pay or shut up comes to mind-

problem is I think arsenal then do 'shut-up' and walk (mata comes to mind, etc), when they realise the club won't budge.

Is this 'penny' pinching attitude hurting our club ? If we're talking about a few mil difference and not 10+ mil or a crazy difference in valuation, I think this is well beyond cutting your nose of to spite your face and is seriously starting to hurt us as we constantly miss out on targets.

Who is responsible for that? Wenger or the board?

Personally, I am sick to death of this business first attitude and football second- I don't want us in debt, but I don't like the priority or precedence of business 'shrewdness' (so called...) at all costs first and footballing decisions second.

The irony being, despite what the club may think, it will cost us more in the long term.

Transfers :

Bids will be made but only 1 player to come realistically.

Please stop silly rumours like Hazard, benzema and Kaka. NEVER due to wages .....simple logic

Young to come.

Van Persie wiull not sign a new contract and i for one do not blame him

Agree0 Disagree0

How can wenger blame man u defeat on injury? At this early season take off?

We do not have a team neither do we have a bench...but it's rather unfortunate that this is coming late.
Let wenger buy his 3 players now and take off like a jet else....
Come January, the whole team, manager and club would be sack...fans will surely take them on

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe after the start to the season we've had, albeit a scrape in to the CL proper, folk still have their noses wedged up Wengers aris Who else do you reckon will go to OT this season and take a lesson like that? Wenger's said that he'll only buy players that improve our squad. Well there must be hundreds of em out there but he's just not willing or allowed to splash the cash like holders of the EPL does. Like the holders of the FA Cup do. Like the champions of Europe do... there seems to be a common factor here. As merson said yesterday out've our squad, not that just played yesterday but the whole lot, who would fit in to the utd, chelsea, city's or maybe even liverpools?

Agree0 Disagree0

Class is permanant alright - no trophies in 6 years set to continue permanantly

Agree0 Disagree0

I recognise what arsene has done for our club but i just dont believe he can turn this around now. how many humiliating defeats will it take for some fans to realise this aint workin no more. i know we had key players missing but there is no excuse for turnin up at ot with no fightin spirit and that is down to one man im afraid. also tactically he just seems clueless right now. in arsene we rust. arsenal till i die

This isn't a rumour for a start but what on earth is your point? They are some of the best players in England for a start so of course they should be in the England team. The fact they play with each other is a bonus but it wouldn't matter either way. Rooney, Young, Jones, Welbeck, Smalling could all play for different clubs - they'd still be mainstays of the future England teams. I have absolutely no idea what your point is because there aren't many English players who are as good as them so the chemistry argument is redundant. They will play because who else is there?

Which is why we have this constant expectation to win things What lets the England set up down is not the players; it is the league. Nobody wants to come out and say it - BUT none of the players could care less for England except for their own selfish reasons.

Proof of it is how when the Euros are on, the only players playing well for England HAPPEN to be the same ones being looked over by megbucks Chelski or City

Read the Arsenal website where they admit Man U team was overall younger than the Arsenal team so it may not be age that is the issue. The young Man U team does have more first team experience. Arsenal don't bring players on fast enough

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to Wenger, he is constantly forced into situations where he has no option but to throw on loads of kids ... and TO MAKE SURE THE CLUB LOOKS GOOD STILL (and by that I mean the board and greedy stakeholders) whilst Wenger is paid to take the hit for it.

Yes so Fergies kids can play like men, especially alongside guys who have been at united for ever and have won actual silverware

This is why our dressing room is so fragile - our 'legends' all buggered off

We need to return to our roots - as a club, and get some of the old masters back to help out, or we are seriously screwby dooed

Patrick Viera is filing stuff for City can't believe he wouldn't rather be swanning around Ashburton Grove

What about Bergkamp? He is through and through a gooner and has stated many times his wish to return.

What about Thierry? What about Pires? Where is Tony Adams? Even Lee Dixon I would take at this point :) THESE guys are who we need in the dressing room, not a 30M quid mercenary or YET another wonderkid who we will just sell when he reaches maturity

Reports coming out of London suggest that the Arsenal Board are lobbying the Premier League to extend the transfer window until Midnight on Thursday, in lieu of the Bank Holiday.
Not to give them more time to sign some much needed talent but so they can sit on their hands and their wallets and f**k us around by prolonging the agony for another 24 hours.

Believable12 Unbelievable4

They've had how long ? and now they want an extension...? although I will be pleased to see new players signed, it just confirms the incompetence

Agree0 Disagree0

If any of the Arsenal board are taking a day off today they are simply taking the p155 out of the fans and have no respect.
Its only a bank holiday in England so no excuse not to try sign a player or do some business today
Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Uefa say it shuts at midnight on the 31st & thats when it shuts. Will you be signing 6 or 7 players??

Agree0 Disagree0

They probably need more time to sell a few more.

Players who simply arent good enough to grace an Arsenal Shirt

Almunia
Fabianski
Traore
Djourou
Squillaci
Gibbs
Eastmond
Rosicky
Arshavin
Chamakh
Bendtner

Players we need

Experienced keeper to challenge WS
Left Back
2 Centre backs
Central midfielder
Left Winger
Right Winger
Striker

Players i have no idea why we bought

AOC (do we need another young midfielder with potential could of saved 12 M)
Joel Campbell (WHY WHY WHY)
Yung ( France Lique 2 striker yes i can see Terry worried about him already)

Players i like to see us sign

Hugo Lloris
Aly Cissohko
Scott Dann
Gary Cahill
Owen Hargreaves
Mikael Artete
Eden Hazard
Marvin Martin
Daniel Sturridge

Paul

You Do Realise parks Team Were Relagated

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh so you want to throw out the entire squad? Dreamer we are not Chelsea / City there is just no way we could afford to even think about planning about dreaming of doing that

Besides you love Bendtner ;)

CD

Agree0 Disagree0

What I disagree about this post is, that I think Gibbs is talented, but a top LB should be brought in to nurture Gibbs. Chamakh is good, but his fitness is appalling, and Rosicky was really good before he got injured, but I agree, maybe he is past it. Also I don't think we need Lloris with Szcezny and it would be better to buy a better back up. Szcezny is class Other than that, i agree with you, if only that happened, but I only see us bringing in 3-5 players: Young, Cahill, Hazard (maybe), Elia (maybe), M'Villa (maybe)

Agree0 Disagree0

Easier to list the players that ARE good enough i.e. those wh would at least have made the bench three years ago - Szczeny, Sagna, Vermailen, Song, Wilshere, and Van Persie to a man not one other would have made the squad let alone the team.
Walcott continues to flatter to deceive, Gervinho too early to say, Gibbs, Koscielny, Squilacci, Djorrou, Rosicky, Arshavin, Chamakh, Jenkinson, Diaby, Almunia, Traore Bendtner all just taking money for nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen Hargreaves?? Lol are you out of your mind?? That is without a doubt the stupidest thing I have read on here......

Agree0 Disagree0

We bought AOC because we could have him on 20k a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why have you left out Diaby. he should be on that list to go as well.
Also im puzzled as to why Arsene let Jay Emanuel Thomas go without giving him a chance in the first team. He's better than Bendtner ever was.

After our dreadful defeat to united it seems only right wenger adds to his team to strentghten it and it looks like he is about to sign up to 4 players.

I hope your proud of yourself Go buy a Chelsea or City shirt

cammy out

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe you should of stayed and showed support for the players like the rest of the travelling arsenal fans did, it's not down to the players the manager and board need to step up and take responsibility

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's hope you are never in need of some support when you're half way dead on the ground

Call yourself a supporter that is disgraceful

Arsenal fans such as yourself, no disrespect are not helping the club long term with that terrible attitude...

Infact I am just going to give you both barrels, you deserve to hear it straight.

It's going to get worse before it gets better so if you are not down for the cause brother then ship out Chelsea was trendy a few years back I hear City are the new rich kids on the block ;)

Come on you love Arsenal

We all need to get behind AW and the players we have as the last thing any 'big name' player wants to do is join a club where the players are getting booed by there own fans. I think we def need some new players though, especially 2 centre halves and a striker.
Cahill/Jags/Samba- 2 of the 3
Fellaini/M'villa/KaKa/Hazard- 2 of 4 would be nice.
Sturrige/Klasnic- 1 of 2
I feel there's a chance of AW only signing 1 centre half by wednesday though which I think would keep us in touch with the top four untill the January transfer window opens.
The worse thing Arsenal could do right now is sack AW or let him resign.....then we will be in serious trouble, at the mo we're alright. A few years back we lost 6-1 at man u with the likes of viera/S cambell/ ashley cole in the side and we bounced back.
Keep the faith

Believable9 Unbelievable3

RUBBISH SOL CAMPBELL HADN'T EVEN BEEN SIGNED BY ARSENAL THEN. ALSO THAT WAS ASHLEY COLE's FIRST SEASON AS AN ARSENAL PLAYER

Wegner needs to go, needs a new challenge.

Give Tony Adams a change

Believable7 Unbelievable13

He could hardly do a job with portsmouth, what makes you think he'd be able to manage arsenal only a year or so later?

Agree0 Disagree0

But Adams has failed in every Managerial job he has been in I prefer Morinho

everyone is talking about how we sign new players as if it will make the problem go away.We are stained for life with this results even if we miraclously win the premiership.

Forget about new signings, even the big spenders uses more than three days in signing. The make actual bids while we joke with bids.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Jesus dude - stained for life? That's a little harsh isn't it? I mean we had beaten just about every team in the league by 4 or 5 at some point .... Being a professional means winning, and sometimes losing with grace. Besides I would much rather have to experience 8-2 third game in, it was nowhere near as bad as when we lost 2-0 at the end of our 49 games unbeaten run

Short memories LOL Cheer up sonny

Arsenal will sign at least 3 players before the end of the transfer window. However It is incredible to listen to the panic merchants calling for Owen Coyle and Martin O'Neil..what do either of them know about champions league football..Martin O'Neil had the entire Aston Villa team against him as well as the fans..you will be sorry if you don't start getting behind the team. The biggest problem is actually the lack of noise and support at the Emirates. Obviously the transfer dealings have been a PR disaster and it is unbelievable to think that finances are so tight that at 2 central defenders and a left back could not have been signed before..so all isn't right behind the scenes.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Lol you have the balls to blame the fans for our performances. Fool.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree anyone calling for O'neil or Coyle to replace Wenger is just are crazy. Ancelotti would be a far better choice

Finally someone with some sense....

What ever happens in the transfer market we need to start playing 4-4-2. Without transfers the team should look like this -
Szczezny
Sagna Koscielney Vermaelen Gibbs
Gervinho Song Wilshere Miyaichi
Walcott Van Persie
Subs - Fabianski Djourou Jenkinson Diaby Ramsey Rosicky Chamakh
Back ups - Mannone Miguel Frimpong Chamberlain Landsbury Traore Young.
I'm not saying I'm happy with the state of the squad far from it but the starting 11 ain't that bad. The problem is there was only 4 of the 11 that I stated starting against man utd and that and our inability to have other systems is Wengers (and in the case of suspensions the players fault) fault. The transfers is the Boards fault. But keep the faith fellow gooners every dog has his day.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

I would put Miquel before Djourou

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not bad - it's 7th place material and god help them if there are any injuries which there will be.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree we need to go back to 4-4-2 with the pace in our team its like our best asset and Theo should be given the chance to play down the middle he can finish so well and a ball over the top there isnt a defender in the league that would catch him

Agree0 Disagree0

Frimpong should be at least on the bench I think he will be good for us

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, just maybe frimpong over diaby. Frimpong is just as good now with vast amounts of potential, diaby? is a liability.

Headr rvp to liverpool

Believable10 Unbelievable11

Nah don't think so- they don't need another striker and more importantly they don't have another 25-30 mil to spend- plus if rvp decided to leave don't think he'd join another pl club imo

I doubt it pal, hes a right sick note, he riminds me of jamie redknapp and darren anderton, no thanks

Arsene Wegner wants a new challenge and has already been lined up for FC Sochaux-Montbelliard job.

Tony Adams is clear favorite to take over the reigns.

Believable4 Unbelievable20

Wenger will most likely go to psg or real madrid it is clear and psg made contact with him to come after this season FACT

Agree0 Disagree0

Tony adams, lol give over please, wenger doesnt need a new challenge, hes had one of those for the last 6 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Adams doest have any top flight management experience

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger is going nowhere.
anyways if he did leave and we got a replacement it would be surely someone with some level of experience playing ball the Arsene way. Cant just completely change everything in 1 season and expect to be in CL next season. Van Basten and Bergkamp together would come to mind but they wouldnt do a better job than wenger.

piers morgan has come out calling for wenger to be sacked. this should show everyone just how stupid an idea it is.

oleg maputo

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Yea, because Piers Morgan knows what should happen at Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the point the OP is making is that Piers Morgan is a tool and that the idea is to sack wenger is stupid

Agree0 Disagree0

If I could ever give a standing ovation for a comment, it'd be this one right here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why doesn't Piers Morgan become manager. what a t**t.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Look i think we should give Wenger a break if it was not for him we would be where we were before heading for mid-table.Look at what he has done at the club he plays the best football in the league.Last year liverpool spent over 25million on players where did they finish ? 6th and we spent a little bit of money on Kosicelny and we got in the top 4.Transfers:Lavaezi,Zarate,Dann,M'villa,Hazard,Malouda,Park chu young who is having a medical.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger is a football dinosaur who can't adapt to the modern game

Agree0 Disagree0

Piers Morgan is only thinking of the club, hes arsenal mad.
