A mate of mine just said something about Giroud - who is he and is there any substance to this please gang?

Raz

Believable2 Unbelievable29

He Plays for An Average French Side, Scored Alot Of Goals This Season A Has Just Had A 42m Price Tag Put On Him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Giroud plays for Montpellier in France. Hes pretty tall and a good goal poacher. I'd say a bit of a late bloomer and a player (Chamack) plus cash deal could be a possibility?
Please to the poster above stop using Capitals It Makes It Hard To Read Just Use A Name Tag Like Everyone Else!

JW

Agree0 Disagree0

The owner of his club has put a huge price on him, because he is mental! Giroud is pretty good though - A £7-10 million move could be realistic, maybe for liverpool or villa or some other mid table team.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok thanks guys.

Btw JW he will not change it, there's no point in asking. We just consider his style to be his sign off, we're used to it now!
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

It sort of makes out like you are some kind of mental case .... with .... large .... gaps ... between ... each ... WORD .... AND .... Strange .. EMPHASIS ... where it is not ..... NECESSARY :)

Hehe but hey we are all special in our own way

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its wrong to buy a player whos only had good half of a season

Agree0 Disagree0

I Doubt Wenger Will Sign Because He Wants To Play Regular Football.

Agree0 Disagree0

I get it now, you're doing a textual impression of Stephen Hawking!

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a french striker excellent finisher, can hold the ball up well, has great ball control and technically brilliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

And Sorry Welcome Mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope Henry does join, can't see him playing much, but must be a great player to have around you in training.

Agree0 Disagree0

But He's Training Already...

Agree0 Disagree0

It might improve morale a bit, and who knows if he can knock in a few goals here and there which we all know he can ... well it will be a successful loan in my eyes.

I don't think the boss is daft enough to get him instead of another player, but if he arrives for a few months and does anything at all positive then I will be happy enough.

I kept saying no no no, but let's face it who wouldn't love to cheer on Henry a few more times or watch him put a few past united!

Hehe who knows if it cheers up the boss it will definitely spread good vibes throughout the squad.

Good luck to him whether or not he plays he is Arsenal through and through

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

To Be Honest If He Does Come Back It Just Shows A Lack of Ambition.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I'd love to see him back just hope it's not my heart ruling my head. I think he can still do us a job though. I'd love to see him score against spurs again wind em right up.
David6

Agree0 Disagree0

Going to MLS from Barca shows a lack of ambition! Coming back to Arsenal who are going to be playing the best premiership teams and challenging for major honours in Europe and in the UK doesn't!

Honestly some people need to stop lacing their shreddies with crack!

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

Last poster... I think he meant lack of the clubs ambition not Henry's.

If the best we can manage is a marketing ploy to resign Henry then that's a lack of ambition in my book.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this the same Terry Henry who agitated for a move for 2 years and then spent his last 12 months at the club basically taking the P*ss?

Agree0 Disagree0

We bought park because of the pre-season travelling we did in Asia. Shirt sales revenue must have gone up atleast 20%. Now we have Henry again - as a business..Arsenal are pretty clue'd up. Whether henry plays well or scores goals probably isnt even that important for them as a whole. Imagine being park, not being played, and then wenger bringing in Henry...hes basically saying that park isnt good enough to play, even with chamack and gervinho out of the picture. Brilliant.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

I love how people just second guess the boss all the time, or if they can't reason why a certain unknown player has appear they attribute it to shirt selling!

Park needs more time in the gym he is very small and scrawny and will just be knocked over at the moment, and Chamahk is hardly worth mentioning because he hasn't scored or played well in about 50 years.

Henry for 2 months has little to do with ambition, I mean be reasonable nobody is saying Sholes / Giggs at at United showed a lack of ambition are they?

Are people a bit tense or something? Lol and Henry coming is going to make no difference to any other transfers now is it.

We should all know by now the clubs ambitions; At worse to finish 4th and at best win the league and one of the cups.

It's been like that for years, as Wenger said right at the beginning when we moved to Ashburton Grove.

And we are not exactly doing that badly, we just aren't setting any fires at the moment but it's halfway through the season...

Is There Any Chance Rosicky Will Be Sold Next Month?

Believable25 Unbelievable18

No because he can leave on a free in the summer!

CrossRoss

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumour has it,he could be joining a team in Greece.

Agree0 Disagree0

I sure as hell hope not, he's still a very good squad player

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been wondering about that. kind of hard to tell, a few clubs purportedly expressing interest (i think olympiakos are the latest) but it looks like wenger values him as a squad player. giving him the start against wolves suggests he still has a part to play. it will really be a matter of whether he eventually wnats to leave to play more football. i cant imagine any decisions being reached before summer though.

Oleg Maputo

Agree0 Disagree0

"he's still a very good squad player"
we have too many squad players - thats the problem! we need players who are able to make an impact on a match; i cant remember the last time rosicky ever did anything other than "played alright"
any bid for £1m would have to be considered.
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats Why im Asking I Doubt Wenger Will Renew His Contract As He Is 31 And Injury Prone So a Sale Would Be The Best Option But Would He Be Replaced?

Agree0 Disagree0

I Dont See Arshavins Contract Being Extended Too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point on having too many squad players and not enough match winners.

That said Rosicky is one of our better squad players i'd sooner see him regain his shooting touch and et rid of some of the other lesser squad players.

Squad is extremely thin at the moment though so I suspect Wenger is cautious to get rid of any until there are more to come.

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

Be better if he ever tried to tackle

Agree0 Disagree0

I think because of his injury he is no longer into tackling. Which is a shame because his tracking back before that was legendary, but it seems we will have to put up with that and perhaps leave the defending to somebody who's legs aren't made of papier mache :D

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he is he will be sold to a greek team cause our team has two much gd players for him to play full time

ED, is there any truth in the £10million Casemiro rumours
89'gooner {Ed002's Note - Sao Paulo's Casemiro has the attention of Arsenal, Juventus, Inter and Porto. I know nothing of any particular figures.}

Believable5 Unbelievable10

Yes. We've watched him and the rumour mill is a-buzz. Will we get a work permit for him? I doubt it! £10m is about right with add on clauses! He'll go to Porto imo!

CrossRoss

Agree0 Disagree0

Just had a look at him (google searched) he seems like a decent player. If we are watching him, and offering £10m I would say judging by our previous £10m type players - don't expect anything amazing right away!

Anybody who can come in and bang in a few goals is much needed, if not just to support rvp! Looking across the team if you take away rvp we score bugger all so any goalscorer of quality would help in the short term.

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget short term, we need long-term targets with proven quality/goal-scoring/creating. Afterall, RVP is potentially leaving at the end of the season - which would leave us where?

A 34 year old Thierry Henry for 2months on loan could do no worse than Arshavin, Bendtner or Diaby have done for last 1/2 or even 3/4 years.
At least Thierry cares for the club and will put the effort in, unlike the 3 above.

FAB {Ed002's Note - It seems like a knee jerk reaction that may not do the player any good physically and could potentially sour his reputation if it transpires he is not the Messiah returning.}

Believable28 Unbelievable2

Ed002, you have to hope that with TH14 training with us this past few weeks that Wenger has seen the upside. I can see him being used as a sub over the load period to make an impact.

It is just a short term solution. However... if Wenger buys another striker in January too (doubtful this would be), it will give them time to settle in. Be great if this was the case.
Andreas

Agree0 Disagree0

Wont happen. If I got a big hole in my shoe, and it was raining outside, I would get rid of the shoes with the hole in them, and wear new ones. Wenger would patch up the hole with a cheap material and get an extra month out of them. He applies the same philosophy he has with shoes, to the transfer market and his team selections. Im quite sure of this.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Persie is the messiah, and everybody on Earth knows that :) If Henry comes back, then it will be to take a bit of pressure off Van the man!

And I don't think anybody could say that Van Persie being replaced by Henry in the last 15 mins of a game isn't worth a look in!

He would have scored against Wolves anyway! Hehe good luck to him

Hi Ed. Do you have any insights on the speculation around thierry henry on loan for 2 months. This actually seems to be a very realistic rumour.

While I may not be jumping for joy - I suspect that this is the Winter signing Wenger will make.

Cheaper option, provides cover, provides experience.

Unfortunately, I doubt fans will buy into the idea that a 34 year old thierry Henry provides the quality we require.

One can only hope, wenger is planning to make big moves in the Summer.

Out:
Striker: Chamakh
AMC: Arshavin
CM: Diaby
AMC: Rosicky
Defender: Squillaci
GK: Alumnia

In:
Striker: Podolski/Doumbia/etc...
AMC: Gourcuff/Gotze/Hazard
CM: Promote Coquelin
AMC: Promote AoC
Defender: Promote Miguel

That's 2 big signings in the summer - which seems plausible. {Ed002's Note - I have no specific knowledge of the matter but would note that he has played a full season in the States, he is 34 and he is due for pre-season around February 20 in Arizona. If he were to skip pre-season and sign for Arsenal, he would not had much of a rest. I appreciate he could provide cover whilst Gervinho is away but still think that there are better solutions out there. Moussa Sow might provide long term benefits. Podolski is another possible option.}

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Totally agree with you analysis. I think there are plenty of better options, but I sense there is limited availability.
Sow/Doumbia - away on ACN?
Podolski - Club not selling...

Also, I think this video of Henry during the emirates cup really sums everything up.

The first minute and the last 5 show his love and dedication for the club - everything in between suggests he lacks the quality to succeed.

His pace is gone, his touch is sloppy. He has moments of brilliance, but they are clever tricks, not match-winning moments.

He also likes to sit much deeper (almost an Central attacking mid) and so would not suit our current system.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002's why do you keep mentioning he is 34? Drogba is 33 and Henry is a lot fitter, is a complete athlete who looks after himself and would give his all for Arsenal so stop hating. chamakh is not worth a toss nor is arshavin! Along with other signings Henry will be great for Arsenal.
IN ARSENE WE WILL SUCCEED.
CRABBY {Ed001's Note - because Drogba gets to rest during the close season, whereas you are asking Henry to forego his rest in order to play for you.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The only problem ED, is Wenger only bargain hunts and does not buy quality. Always looking for Costco buys! Arshavin has proven to be a waste as it is clearly seen in his timid & lacklusture displays {Ed002's Note - I am a littled miffed by the knuckle-dragging cretin who suggested I was "hating" by answering a question asked of me. Perhaps we should just leave the Arsenal posts to pile up until someone with less "hate" in them feels obliged to process them in a few days time?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002's Sorry, hate was the wrong word but seriously knuckle-dragging cretin I think you need help my fellow gooner and learn to control your attitude! just saying {Ed002's Note - I didn't mean "knuckle-dragging cretin" of course. What I meant was that he was no doubt a pot-bellied, lager swilling, tattooed, knuckle-dragging moron. Just saying!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, the Henry rest post reply was mean't for Ed001's apologies to Ed002's.
My bad! {Ed002's Note - Hey, not a problem. Don't worry about it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Just ignore crabby ed. He will just be a stupid kid or a Spud.

According to the daily mail we're looking at Barca striker Isaac Cuenca.

Anyone shed any light?

Raz

Believable13 Unbelievable14

"Isaac Cuenca, who has apparently refused to sign a new contract at the Nou Camp which means he will be free to join the Gunners (or Chelsea apparently) for free next summer. This 20 year-old winger looks like exactly the type of signing that Wenger would go for; a cheap one!"

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a great player i wouldhapily take him, hes a good skilfull winger, hes already playedwith messi xavi iniesta villa in the first team, so hel be a gr8 signing

Agree0 Disagree0

We already have walcott, gervinho, chamberlain, miyauchi who are right footed wingers;
unless we sell walcott doubt it would happen
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent idea - take another kid from the Barca academy, turn them into a brilliant player and then watch Barca unsettle the player through the press. I dont want any more Fabregas like sagas - not worth the hassle!

Ståle Solbakken (manager of Køln) has told Aftenposten (Norwegian newspaper), that he will do whatever he can to keep Podolski. But admits that he would understand if Podolski would like to try out the Premiership (at Arsenal).

Sell: Arshavin, Chamakh, Squillaci (even on free-transfer), Almunia ( even on free-transfer), Diaby. This will give us 25-35 mill.

Buy: Vertonghen (ca. 15 mill), Podolski (ca. 15 mill).

Also consider moves for M'Villa, Marvin, Goetze, with the transferfunds we saved from the summerwindow.

Re-signing Henry I think would be a great idea, even if he didn't start so much. Henry have a lot to offer our younger players, he is one of our biggest legends.....I only rate Tony Adams higher than Henry.

Arsenal will finish top four, as our new signings will help us move Tottenham Hotspur further down on the ladder. And when Harry Redknapp becomes manager of England, the Spuds will collapse!

Arsenal 4 life!

Believable17 Unbelievable6

Just slightly (actually FULLY) unbelievable!

Agree0 Disagree0

Also heard about Solbakken. Totally agree with you about sales, and believe Podolski and Vertonghen would be great buys.

And for all you Suc**rs who say Henry is past it....you have no idea what you are talking about! Would you rather have Park on the field, than Henry?? Henry will not only have a lot to offer, but will also inspire the younger players. And, I personally, will most likely have an tear in my eyes when he enters the field!

Go Gunners!

Ed,can you give me any news on Kaka, Pato and footballers you know that are linked to arsenal in January {Ed002's Note - I don't know that Kaka or Pato are linked with Arsenal in January. Kaka's wages are around £200k per week - can Arsenal afford that? Pato is for sale at around 50M euros - he may well go for less but PSG seems a likely destination.}

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Ridiculous really. Pato never not in a thousand years. And Podolski's manager (who you fail to name) has said he would understand if his main striker buggered off mid season! LOLOL

Hey guys,

Just saw on twitter, a fellow named AfC Wheeler, who has been rather insightful on transfers and such, has said that Henry will be unveiled on Monday and that Podolski should be signed in mid January.

What do you all think? This excites me if it's true, but only time will tell.

Ben, has your source heard anything about Henry returning?

Ed have you heard anything regarding Demba Ba to the gunners? {Ed001's Note - nope.}

Believable1 Unbelievable18

There hasn't been any noises in the press or officially, he is more of a wish list player from a few posters on here.

He hasn't been at Newcastle very long though so I think chances of him moving are limited. And besides Chamahk was as good as he has been for a while, now look at him!

I think if he carries on being this good though, no doubt he will end up at a bigger club at the expense of Newcastle.

They are worse than us, they can never seem to keep their best players. Or their worst lol look at Andy Carrol :D

Jokes actually he was a good no9 but Liverpool expect him to play facing his own goal! Never going to happen the poor lad needs crosses and knock downs.

Anyway, do you think in a few years time when we have RvP, Reo, Park, Oxy and whoever else may appear - that we would still be interested in Ba?

He is red hot at the moment but I will wait to see if he can carry that on into another season and prove he is the real deal!

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see him in arsenal shirt, but no sign that it will ever happen. unlike carroll and chamakh, he has very good career stats in terms of goals. i think this would make him a good long-term investment. even in chamakh's best spell at bourdeaux he was not surpassing 1 in 3 games, and carroll was of course very young and unproven when liverpool bought him.

we really need a striker in his vain with a proven goalscoring record. as has been pointed out by others, Moussa Sow would be another such example - his goalscoring record at Lille is outstanding.
