I've been hearing lately that were looking to sign AC Milan player Stephan el shaarawy. Can anyone provide any information on this? Thanks MK Gooner {Ed002's Note - I think it is pretty unlikely Milan would sell when they are looking to take on the remaining interest of Genoa. Doubtful at best.}

Heard that Boro Primorac (member of wengers coaching staff) went to italy to watch Montolivo who is available on free transfer in the summer. what u think edd? {Ed002's Note - Montolivo will leave Fiorentina in the summer and regardless of interest from Juventus, Liverpool and Roma will almost certainly move to one or other of the Milan clubs. I am sure numerous clubs will have watched him, including Arsenal.

Eds if you have the time please could you explain how this Podolski malarky is actually legal? How can we have agreed a fee, personal terms, and consider him 'signed' when the window isn't open? Isn't this tapping up? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - It is perfectly legal. The agreement is with both clubs and the player. He cannot be signed until his registration is transferred which will be once the window opens. The last I heard there were still the two original insurance issues to be resolved. However, it is most likely it will go through.}

Although the window isnt open, I cant imagine that it is against the rules to agree a price with a club & terms with the player, prior to the wndow opening. The contracts being completed once the window is open.

So it seems podolski is on his way. Yann m'villa has declared it would be difficult to say NO to a French coach plus the usual goetze hazard and vertonghen talk which has been around for upto 18 months.
I also think that there's another deal as good as "done". Junior Hoilett from Blackburn on a free. So would We go for giroud as well ? I don't see any defenders coming in except for Bartley returning from rangers. Also it wou
Don't surprise me if Bolton stay up myachi stays for 1 more year on loan. Anyone else see gervinho as part of the clearout ??
So ins- podolski
Hoilett
M'villa
Paul - Rochester

Interestingly i thought about whether i wanted hoilett to join us next summer but i realised that we actually dont need him, ryo chamberlain walcott gervinho poldi can all play wing so i think a striker is more essencial

Hoilett would still cost us 5-6 million in compensation to Blackburn because of his age , still a great price

Hoilett's contract runs out at the end of the season so would be free
Paul- rochester {Ed002's Note - Compensation still needs to be paid to Blackburn because he is uinder 23.}

I am not sure whether it makes sense to bring another winger/striker we seem to be quite full in that department (unless someone was definitely leaving)..He would be a good addition but lets not forget we also reserve and youth players that need to come through...it is a careful balance between external acquisition and internal promotion...

arsenal will want to get some of their loan stars back such as kyle Bartley ryo miyachi Joel Campbell and Henri Lansbury. There will be a lot of competition on the wing with gervinho Walcott miyachi and chamberlain, but these will be the signings made in the 2012/13 season.

As optomistic as I am about the summer with the players who have come out and hinted they would join. I doubt we would see 5 big signings. Podolski and one otherwould keep me very very happy. 3 decent signings in the summer and I'd be over the moon

Although I agree that 5 big signings is not realistic I do like the general idea of your transfers and maybe take out belhanda and it's possible

Wenger has already said we will not buy a lot quantity wise but will quality wise. I doubt very much we will sign five first team players.(would love it to happen though)
Bermy Gooner

Ok podolski is done, i really think we need a player like giroud. m'vila could happen unless real madrid bid for him, we could use vertongen, but as much as would like us to sign belhanda or hazard i dont think we need them and therefore probably wont happen, we got ryo and campbel coming back from loans and wilshere from injury. so i would be very pleased if we signed those four, although i think even that is too much, plus wenger has to sign some unknown young players.

I don't think we have any need for Vertonghen, Per is a more then acceptable 3rd choise and Djourou is a more then acceptable 4th. We are covered there. Benayoun leaving and Jack coming back cancels itself out really so unless Song or Ramsey leave I wouldn't expect a midfield signing with Rosicky back in form, though that can change. Arshavin has to leave I can't see him coming back to sit on the bench and watch kids playing infront of him. If Podolski is done then I wouldn't expect much transfer activity coming in. I reckon it will depends on Miyaichi's progress, who leaves and if Campbell gets his permit.

So you want us to spend 25mln on Podolski and Giroud in a system that can only fit 1 central striker and in a team that already has 4-5 wide players availabile for next season?
Waste of money. That is money that I would put towards a CAM. Belhanda/etc...
Agree0
Disagree0
Would personally think our first team can challenge with a lineup of
Szcz
Sagna/Kos/Verm/Gibbs
Song/Arteta
Walcott/Wilshere/AOC
RVP
with subs Gervinho, Podolski, Rosicky, Coquelin, Per, Fabianski, Santos
plus Lansbury, Jenk, etc. for tournaments and cover
Ramsey, Miyaichi, Frimpy and few others loaned out
Plus selling those you mentioned
Bit convoluted, all that, but it's ideal for me. I don't think we need M'Vila and Wilshere as CAM with Rosicky cover seems perfect
Agree0

As much as I would love it we will not sign both Vertonghen & M'villa unless we decide to sell Gibbs to allow TV5 or Vert to be a left back.

Ed, whats the chances of us getting giroud??.
He is actually the one signing i really do wish to see as we have been missing a typical cf tough target man as rvp is best in the bergkamp role.
Picture our front line with podolski giroud and rvp....not only would the prem league be in trouble but the whole world would be sh!tting their pants when facing us.
Gimmeg6 {Ed002's Note - It was expected that Giroud would stay within France with a move to PSG but performances this season have seen Lyon, Marseille, Valencia, Newcastle, Villarreal, Arsenal and particularly Malaga show an interest. At one point Nicollin discussed the interest in the player saying Newcastle were too minor a club and Arsenal would have to pay 50M euros, if not 60M euros for the player. The reality is that he will move for perhaps 20M euros or so in the summer as it will be tough for Montpellier to persuade him to stay. Interest at the moment is still being shown by Arsenal and Bayern Munich have made an approach to Montpellier. The player declared an interest in a move to Italy but much will depend on the price - I don't see Marseille being able to pay enough, nor perhaps Lyon. It is possible that Liverpool may become interested but at present I understand they are not.}

Arsenal, psg, liverpool, newcastle, bayern, villareal, malaga, lyon, valencia, lyon.
Much easier to say 'Sorry, I dont know where he will go' than to type down the names of half the clubs in europe that have had their names associated with the player via talksport radio. {Ed002's Note - Sorry I made the effort - I will certainly think twice about doing it again. We have enough to deal with and then the trolling anonymous keyboard warriors like you just throw in your cretinous responses.}

I love how we've effectively signed podolski and how the other three Players I want us to sign (m'vila vertonghen an giroud) have all spoken to the media about wanting to join arsenal WE CAN STILL ATTRACT THE BEST! Now come on wenger and buy them to bring us back on top (I'm still not very confident tho knowing that arsenal windows NEVER go how people predict but I'm clinging onto the change in wenger transfer policy hype

We will get m villa and vertonghen not sure on giroud but he would do better then park and chamack
Agree0

Not sure why we are linked with m'vila, would cost the best part of 20m euros plus wages, would effectively end coquelins career with us and also could mean we have either one of song and m'vila sitting on the bench each week.
unless he was coming in to replace song who possibly won't sign a new contract although he's here til 2014.
makes more sense to just go for the guy at ajax who can play dm/cb/lb and is cheaper.

Or play Song M'vila and Arteta as a midfield with Wilshere battling Arteta for the place

None of those 3 can dribble or has quick feet on the ball...
That would be a very static midfield = have you seen chelsea?

Well if wenger goes for mvila its all but certain we will play 4-2-3-1
poldi and walcott on the wing, persie up front...wilshere in the middle with mvila and song behind him and a strong defense.
with alot of lethal options on the bench. it looks likely that coquelin, ryo, ox, frimpong will be given game time but not major game time. Arteta and rosicky will take their bench role.
i have heard dont quote me on this.
there is serious interest for ramsey and wenger may consider it. dont know who exactly would want him going by his performances but thats the news around arsenal.
i work on the queensland road project so i am constantly intouch with alot of people from arsenal. not that they had a chat with wenger but just the rumour around the watercooler stuff.

TV5 has had a average season at best, and if you look at some games over the last month or two he has been either trying to hard or lost his calmness, any way i think that Wenger will rotate TV5, Kon and Per next season
Agree0
Disagree0
Verminator had a pretty awful game but it was an exception rather than the rule. In comparison I don't understand why Ramsey started the game at all. I would have given the nod to proper wingers (i.e. Ox or Gervinho) as it would have helped stretch the field and perhaps create more chances for Arsenal. We were absolutely woeful in the game against QPR. The lack of chances was utterly abject for an Arsenal side with some decent attacking players. Perhaps the team was already looking beyond QPR to Man City. I say let OX start a few more games. He at least has the ability to create something which is more than I can say for the likes of Ramsey.

It's ok guys we'll put djourou in for him this week. Crisis averted. Lol. note sarcasm

There should be a rule in the club that ramsey and rosicky must not be on the pitch at the same time
Agree0

Wow...if u were arsenal manager id be worried for rvp who hasnt scored in two or three games loool
But actually agree with u on ramsey he needs to get his ass in line and pay back the trust the managers put into him by giving him so much game time or maybe we should loan him as hes still young but his standards are not up to scratch to wear the red n white atm
Agree0

Behave yourself get rid of tommy v your out of your mind , as for ramsey give the guy a chance the guy is quality just having a tough season imo .

TV5 has had an average season at best compared to his first season, he will need to improve for next season otherwise i see him and Per being rotated depending on the opposition forward line (speed)

hi ed i know its a little bit hard to say but how many new faces do you feel will be at arsenal in the summer as it seems that we may be the club that doing the most business this summer and a clear out seems to be on the cards {Ed002's Note - It is impossible for me to say accurately.}
Believable2
Unbelievable1
I believe that we are going to sign around 3-4 players this summer with a cdm (m'vila) a cb (vertonghen) podolski and a st or cam (not a clue who :p) and to answer your second question I believe that a clear out is not the right term but that a lot of dead wood crap fringe players (we all know who they are) will be tried to be moved on for relatively cheap prices
Greg
Agree0
Disagree0
I would say Wenger is probably looking to bring back some Loan players (Campbell / Miyachi) and make 2-3 signings max.
Agree0
Disagree0
Wenger has already said to the press that it will be not the quantity of players that he buys in this window as opposed to the quality. I think 3 players will be bought but it is impossible to say though. Don't be surprised to see players like Coquelin, Frimpong, Miquel get more playing time. The best business Wenger does in this window will be getting rid of the expensive dross.
In Arsene I Trust.
