All things considered, who would you rather have in the team next season?

Mata - Agree

Fabregas - Disagree

Ben

Believable24 Unbelievable20

Mata should come to this club we need him we need to attract the best of young talent out there as in not snapped up by chelsea or man united or man city. arsenal build teams we dnt just throw money at players we get the the club and hope they jell together.im proud of the manager we have. wtg A.W fingers crossed we get the players that he wants thats needed to fit wots missing in the squad right now.Bring on the new session.hopes we get mata - samba or cahil - love to see hazzard and benzema.thats what id love to see but in A.W i trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the way fabregas rips defenses apart in the blink of an eye (pure genius) so ideally would be him but if his hearts else where mata would do nicely

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not both? That's part of our problem I feel, we only replace departing players rather than adding quality to supplement what we already have. Huge part of why these players (Cesc, Nasri, Clichy, etc) want out.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say Mata because Fabregas is just going to pull up injured for 80% of the season and miss most games anyhow.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should buy Mata, keep Cesc and Narsi. Wenger as always said he only buy top quailty, Mata falls into that category. I would great to see Nasri play on the right and Mata playing on the left, imagine the how they could lock defences with their skills.

Believable18 Unbelievable27

We are not buying any players so stop spreading lies on this website No one is coming apart from the 2 players that we have and see how long it took for them to be completed

scezney is not a patch on reina you loons. You will find this out soon when he makes mistakes like your other rubbish goalkeepers good luck with europa.then again you still will not win that

Believable10 Unbelievable8

I agree that reina is better but u ain't even in eruopa so jog on person head

Agree0 Disagree0

Haaaaa u make me laugh because even if reina is better than scezney the chances of u finishing aboe us with ur signings is slim sooo really good luck to u in europa

Agree0 Disagree0

There only appears to be one stupid arsenal fan who thinks schezza is better then reina-

btw you have goodluck in the europa... hopefully we should be playing in the CL this season and we should be next as well.
Seriously, keep believing and under estimating arsenal, we are used to that and kind of like proving ppl like you wrong. Despite all the nonsense, I think arsenal will do a lot better than ppl think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Europa?? We have champions league qualifiers. No idea why you're looking at arsenal rumours anyway, probably because your own team isnt up to much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets just think, did Liverpool win the europa league last season when they were in it?

Erm....no i dont think they did, so you can stop talking bull.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha love dumb Liverpool fans, arsenal took four points from the two Liverpool games, and remind me who helped score the goal way back in august? oh yes it was reina Also arsenal got k.o of the champs league by Barcelona, who went on to win it, and they only just beat us after a controversial 2nd leg. And Liverpool couldn't even win the Europa, so very hypocritical to claim about how bad a team we are

Agree0 Disagree0

Crap results so far for liverpool talk about the gunners in the news with so called worries what about the liverpool the got as they call top signings. but look at the progress since the presession to present.liverpool fans trust me you got more than hoping to finish in the top half of the table to worry about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jog on back to your own rumours page you mug. Come back when your overated team actually do something. Gervinho or Carroll? o sorry downing tops the lot lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool got put out of the europa league by braga, the same braga that where slaughtered 6-0 by the mighty arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Stupid liverpool fan shut up and come back on when your team is worth mentioning use wont get top 5 this season let alone CL

Agree0 Disagree0

At least we offer our players Champions League football this season what are you offering? Oh yeah the competition you quote Europa League football. 14 years running Champions League football not bad hey

supposed rumour on bbc website that Joey Bartons agent thinks that Arsenal would have won th English Premier League last season had he been at te club Is this an indication that talks are on the way or is it a taunt from his agent that he wants to join the Gunners

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14367204.stm

This is something i have read and neither from an inside source or a friend make of it what you will its only my own speculation but i think they are either trying to drum up interest with Arsenal to see if they are interested or that maybe we have already made contact with his agent i will let you all decide for yourselves. My opinion is that JB wants to join arsenal and is therefore trying to test the water to see if Arsenal is interested but to state that we would have won the PL with him may put him in hot water with AW as he will not put up with any more big ego's at the club

Gavsta

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Can't see JB at the Emirates next season as he is 28 and contract talks stalled as he wanted a 4 year deal with the Toon and the only offered 3. Bearing in Mind AW dislike of anything over 30. Perhaps to late for JB - Shame

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a very true point, I never took that into consideration

a lot of people are saying that we will finish behind liverpool

NOT GONNA HAPPEN

face 2 face analysis
1-------------2
sceszny vs reina
1- younger more potential
2-older(is also sloppy last year 1st game of season)
overall schezza is better

sagna vs johnson
No competion sagna has been the best player in the epl for ages FACT

Believable5 Unbelievable12

Nice in-depth squad analysis..

Agree0 Disagree0

Reallly? i would rather reina in goal for arsenal any day of the week

Agree0 Disagree0

Chezza better reina is the best keeper in the league how many mistakes did schezza make last year mmmmmmmmmmmm more than reina

Agree0 Disagree0

Overall arsenal have a much better squad than liverpool fact and i have no worries about liverpool going above us because its not gunna happen

Agree0 Disagree0

Schezza is good, with a lot of potential- but how you can say he is better than reina...? Sorry but that is complete nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reina is more experienced but schez
Definately has loads of potential.
Not sure about sagna being 'the best player in the epl for ages'

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats more worrying about this post is, now were comparing ourselves to finishing above Liverpool, as opposed to winning the league and beating utd and chelski, sad indictment of how far our club has fallen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal and liverpool dont even fall into same catergory.arsenal no matter what will challenge for title might not win it but still be there or there abouts. meanwhile liverpool will be battling with likes of everton, villa and sunderland for 6, 7, 8.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2011 20:22:35
Cor this is more controversial than the cesc saga...tut tut tut dublin gooner :')

anyways after reading all of the posts I think this will happen: Ins Barton free
Mata
CB propably one of Dann Jag Cahill or Samba

feel free to comment on this? I personally dont think with these acquisitions and our current squad would we win the league :/ but it'll be close

just a thought but why not sign hazzard and loan him back to lille till january and make a condation that if lille are still in the champions league then he can stay till the summer...it would mean not havin to pay more money for him if he has a good champions league...everyones a winner surely....
jay

Believable8 Unbelievable4

It doesn't make sense for Lille. Why sell him for 25-30million and get him back on loan when they could keep him anyway and get about 35-40 for him next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger has been an admirer for ages, if he does not buy him now it will never happen. This boy is only going to get better, mark my words. Then comes a new price tag and AW wont do it

Agree0 Disagree0

I just think if ya were to offer lille good money for him now and try push through a deal for him with him stayin on loan it would be great buisnesss

Why do people keep mentioning this release clause in MAta's contract, that knob was clearly talking a load of bollocks. Why would we pay for a player who hasn't passed a medical or even agreed to terms with the club. His father has come out and said Valencia had rejected a bid for the player from us, now lets all step back and think here, it is quite clear that to test the waters we put forward a slightly lower bid then their valuation, we did the exact same with Jagielka. Clearly our interest in the player is evident, and I guess it is safe to assume we will come back with improved offers for both players soon.

Also why did neither club come out and mention this release clause, the notion of it is rediculous, we would certainly have purchased him had this clause actually existed, and not just made a weak offer that would be rejected. So please can we all put this Mata s**t to bed for a while until any further details arise.

CT

Believable12 Unbelievable5

Maybe Wenger trying to look busy? Seems to happen fairly often these low bids and no follow up....

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said. wenger is known for being shrewd in the market why would he let slip such a money making opportunity. i do actually think he is going to win us the title, if we get him...

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree tho its getting very annoying and frustrateing lets let it go and see what happens

Gavsta

Agree0 Disagree0

That is what I was thinking, but with Nasri on the verge of a move, same with Cesc something has to be done. I think Wenger and the board know how unhappy the fans are, Mata was to be our marquee signing this summer, I guess we will know by the end of the week if we go back with an improved bid.

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with that statement. also i think if we do land mata he will make a hell of an impact in the premier league, very skillful and technically gifted footballer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, he would be a great replacement for Nasri, he has looked so lazy this pre season so far. People saying to sell Cesc and put nasri in his cm role are mad imo.

If fans are booing at friendlies, and given the fact that we wont buy the defenders we need, can you imagine how much stick Wenger will get after a few bad results?

Man, it will be nasty inside the Emirates

Believable13 Unbelievable5

He derserves it.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's exactly what I posted a couple of weeks ago. It could all end in tears for AW. The vast majority can't all be wrong when it comes to the signings required to strengthen the squad.

MJG

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at the game sunday. nearly bought the new away shirt and decided no. why should I put even more money into the club so it can sit in a bank account. I'd rather keep it in mine

Agree0 Disagree0

It is the board not Wenger, the should be booed

Agree0 Disagree0

Why the board, Wenger is the one that won't spend

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thier saturday and after boca got the 2nd it was that same old feeling again. Arsen needs to wake up quick and the bord do aswell as i can see this being his last season if we dont win a cup, stop talking about players and brin em in i bet we dont sign any1 else now

Hi guys
can any 1 of you come up with a good nickname for
szczcxs------ny - you know the polish gk
__________________________________
i propose mickey {Ed007's Note - Do what us Scots do, if you can't pronounce a players name just call him "Shug"}

Believable6 Unbelievable1

In our house, he's known as Chesney. He is the one and only lol (showing my age here)

Agree0 Disagree0

Chesney, Sir Chesney, Chezza, {Ed007's Note - Those posts were from 2 different people}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think 'Shezza lad' is about as 'nick' a name as we'll get. His name doesn't really lend itself to a nickname, shame really haha. I am racking my brains and coming up with nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

Or call him by his proper name? Pronounced Cher-Chesney...

Agree0 Disagree0

I call him Woj, but his name is not hard to pronounce, just hard to spell.

"Shez-knee" is how you say Szczesny.

Agree0 Disagree0

All the commentators call him 'Voychek Sir-shez-knee'. Maybe we should call him Sir Shez.

Or maybe just Lurch??

{Ed022's Note - I stick with the easy if not quite boring Shezza or Shez.}

This is what the london Evening Standard is
reporting regarding Mata

Manager Arsene Wenger has been tracking the 23-year-old all summer and reports had suggested Valencia were ready to trigger an agreement that Mata could leave if a foreign club matched his buy-out fee.

But that clause expired yesterday as Mata entered the final year of his contract and Juan Manuel Mata Rodriguez claims Valencia turned down Arsenal's bid, thought to be around £14m.

"After some hesitation they answered 'no' to the offer, " he said. "My son remains a Valencia player, for now but I don't think it's Arsenal's last offer.

Buy out fee was thought to be 18 mill

Seems promising
Goonerneil...Arsenal 4 life

Believable11 Unbelievable4

We offered £14 million... are you f**king kidding me? Couldn't just offer up a fair price that would have been accepted, instead had to be cheap and offer less.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we expect barca to pay 40m for fabregas when we offer 14m for a player it is commonly known has a clause of 18m? do agree that jagielka is totally overpriced at 20m he is 28, just get cahill for 17m he is 25. If mata is in the last eyar of his contract assume valencia are happy to receive a bit fat zero when he leaves next summer - wake up spanish team u are in a weak position on this one. Arsenal are too penny wise as i have said before are the board running the club based on no champions league income?

Stoke apparently after bendtner - I'd settle for a straight swap for either Huth or Shawcross - they're both quality no-nonsence defenders with PL experience
AG

(3) (3)

Shawcross is NOT welcome

CrossRoss

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The same Shawcross who broke Ramsey's leg and nearly ended his career?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep - Young players make mistakes; Wilshere nearly broke someone's leg himself last year in a similar challenge, as well as getting arrested twice - you telling me because of this we should sell him?
AG

Believable8 Unbelievable7

It's Different He Broke One Of Our Players Legs

{Ed022's Note - Yes and as I said, it was an accident. Is there any need to really hold it against him for the rest of his life? Lifes too short. Forget it and move on...}

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not be happy at all if that ugly thing, shawcross, came to a great club like us

Agree0 Disagree0

Shawcross is a good player with bags of potential, accidents happen and some times you just have to move on

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, and Lionel Messi's completely ruined our season at least twice, costing us millions as a club, so I wouldn't have him either.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather see Shawcross pull on an Arsenal shirt than Barton. Shawcross leg break was an accident, whereas Barton is a career criminal.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was an horrendous tackle and awful for rambo- but I really don't think he had an intention of doing that at all, badly time, yes- on purpose, no.

See no reason in not signing him- but he'd be brave to join us as I doubt there would be many fans as forgiving as some of us here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shawcross would be an excellent addition. I can understand some fans reaction to the Ramsay challenge but our players have been, and are not, averse to hard tackles. I don't think Shawcross meant to do that kind of damage although I suspect he was guided to rough us up a bit by Pulis. On balance he would add a much needed element of steel to our defence...

Agree0 Disagree0

Ryan and Joey would both be great signings they'd add that english grit we need..joey is a changed man had a great season last year and the leg break was a complete accident and ryan is a quality player I'd have both

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely no reason not to sign him whatsoever. He's not a malicious player...clearly an accident. Plus I'd rather having him in our team breaking other teams players legs...Nani perhaps diving little c**t LOL

StEvE

Agree0 Disagree0

People who say they wouldnt take shawcross clearly know f*** all about quality defenders. yeah it sucks what happened to rambo but for the sake of the club even he would welcome shawcross. grow up people

paul - rochester

Agree0 Disagree0

Shawcross is a legend a stoke city he wil move on 1 day from stoke to a bigger club than stoke and bigger club than arsenal he d prefer go spurs
from dan stoke fan

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one (and as it happens ramsay for another) have put the shawcross incident behind them..although it was horrible it was purely mistimed.. so if he's available why not.. prem experience and all that.. only problem possible is if manu have first refusal on him from when he was there...
oh and by the way to all those who say he's rubbish, yet would willingly bring in samba to the fold..??

The Night Doctor..

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually Ramsey's injury is only one of a number of hideously 'mis-timed' tackles Shawcross has perpetrated. He put Adebayor out for a month with a tackle which was 5 yards off the pitch (he he in retrospect), broke the ankle of Franny Jeffers. After the Aaron Ramsey incident he subsequently almost amputated Scott Parkers leg without the benefit of anaesthetic....yeah hes not that type of lad is he? We have enough trouble from the press over our so-called discipline problems without investing in trouble like young Ryan. Oh and BTW he slow and has the turning circle of the QE2 so would be found out all the time in a side that plays with a high line

Agree0 Disagree0

Jagielka bid rejected cause we're WAY off the 20 mil Everton want. If we don't get him we're gonna go for Birmingham City's Scott Dann :(

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Still see Samba coming. He is how Wenger likes them.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2011 17:12:12
Accoring to Darmesh Seth (Sky Sports) Arsenal and Everton's valuation of Jagielka is quite far apart, and if they can't agree on a fee, then Arsenal might go for Scott Dann. This depends on how he plays in his first game of the Championship season because of his fitness problems. If he proves that he is fit, then Arsenal might put in a bid.

JH.

{Ed022's Note - Good old Dharmesh Sheth has been saying that but I still think Jags will be signed over Dann...}

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Yeah so do i. But i don't think Dann is a bad player at all, i don't think he's a bad back-up option to Jagielka.

JH.

Hi Ed
Are anywhere close to selling Super
Nik Bentdner?
I just want him and Cesc out of our
Club

{Ed022's Note - Bendtner has been in talks with several clubs but no-one has yet bid the £9m Arsenal are looking for so nothing as yet. The ongoing "Cesc Saga" will hopefully get sorted soon for everyone's sanity.}

Believable8 Unbelievable2

I dont think no one wants bendtner...its just that he wants his 52k a week salary no other club wishes to pay.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think clubs are doing business the arsenal way... we want 9million.. offer us 5...works both ways eh?

Arsenal have reopened negotiations over the signing of young Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell

Believable14 Unbelievable8

Absolute rubbish - why make it up

Agree0 Disagree0

This seems a bit odd, but I really hope it's true. With the way that negotiations broke off before, I thought the deal would be dead. But now there seems to be lots of buzz around this rumour and I'm glad because I think this kid is a real talent, hopefully his father won't try to hold out for better offers.

Bentdner £5-10 million to some like West Brom or Newcastle or possibly a swap deal for Gary Cahill at Bolton

Samir Nasri to Manchester City for £20-25 million or a swap deal plus £15 million for Inter's Wesley Snieder

Alumunia £2-5 million to Spain (Some Club)

Total: About £80 Million (Estimated)

Believable20 Unbelievable22

Yep, we are a selling club....and we are also a buying club. What is your point? If it makes sense, sell.

Anelka buy price circa £500,000, Anelka sell price £22, 300,000. Lovely. Now Who did we replace him with...ummm. Probably someone who didn't go on to score that much....

It does appear that once you leave Arsenal you don't seem to be the same player.

As long as they are replaced then I'm not concerned.

Ed,
I know I've mentioned this before, but with the supposed mata contract clause expiring meaning it looks like we are going to have to pay more than the rumoured 18mill fee that was set, I am so suprised that xerdan shaqiri isn't being looked at aswell Will cost around half the money that mata will and had a equally good u21 championship as mata, also young and moulded to our passing and counter attacking football? Arsenal have accepted a bid of £37 million for Cecs Fabregas. They have also accepted a bid of £9 million for Bentdner, and £4 million for Eboue.

Total income from these transfers = £50 million.

This money will be used to sign 3 players, namely
1. Juan Mata £18m
2. Wait for it...Wesley Sneijder £15m + Sami Nasri.
3. Jagielka £17m

Mata deal is virtually done.

Having received a glowing report from dutch team mate Van Persie, Sneijder is set to smash the clubs record and sign a lucrative 5 year deal. Wenger has managed to put together a package that will remarkably see Sneijder take home the same amount of cash as both Cesc and Nasri combined per week.

The balance of the transfer funds will be spent of Jagielka with as much as £17 million be kept aside to secure Wengers main defensive man.

Reported interest in Benzema is still alive as Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options. If a deal can be thrashed out for around the 20 mil mark then expect to see him as our new number 9.

Total spent after all incoming and outgoing payers is approx £25 million.

Watch the Sneijder story break later today/tomorrow.

Keep the faith.

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Benzema and Ribery?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ahh, just seen the Benzema line, cheers for the Update.. Lets just heop its true, genuinely cant see Sneijder, but it would be a good bit of Business for Inter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Damnit, I find it so hard to try not to believe him, every time he says something it just gives me flickers of hope. I don't see how we could ever support Sneijder's wages, but I'd be ecstatic with just the Mata and Jagielka transfers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Sneijder and Van Persie hated each other?

Agree0 Disagree0

Damn Nasri and £15 million for Sneijder, biggest load of crap I've heard, definately not worth it and who is going to pay his £200,000 a week wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

HAHA, you do know Sneijder and RvP don't get along don't you. No way Arsenal would pay his wages. EVER.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh how I wish this were true..........

Agree0 Disagree0

I will wait and see and offer the benefit of the doubt. RVP and Sneijder have been at loggerheads for years (going back to free kick RVP took from Sneijder)...maybe they have made up since?

Agree0 Disagree0

Where do you get your wishy whoshy information

Agree0 Disagree0

That story will only break if a "serious" jurno snapped it up on this site (which im sure they do in most of our "targets")

Clearly it would be f'ing amazing if that were to happen but it won't, so everybody will be better of if we just end it here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow. This would be amazing, but I really can't see Arsenal forking out this much for Sneijder's wages :/ Here's hoping though...

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love to live in this bubble that you live in

Agree0 Disagree0

I dunno if this is the real dublin gooner...but Sneijder and Van persie dont get along...and for Sneijder to earn over 100k more than persie...hmmm....yea dont think so.

Deals make sense but financially not really.

Also these sort of deals are mega news...so for you to pick it up and for the papers not to? well hmmm...

If it does happen ill gladly eat my hat...

As much as I'd love this to happen I can't see us signing Wesley Sneijder. We all know AW doesn't like to impede a youngsters development. Ramsey has stepped into Cesc's sulky boots during pre-season and has done exceptionally well imo. Does this now mean he'd be benched? Or even Jack? I think not. When Wenger signed Ramsey he trumped Old Red Nose who saw him as a future replacement for Scholes. They're still looking...

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, you must have a good source on this one, 'cos you know you are going to get absolutely slaughtered by the usual doubters

Hope you're right, and no, I'm not one of your doubters, I've noted when you've been right ahead of announcements. Can I ask where you got the info?

{Ed022's Note - Its interesting because this deal was due to happen according to DG but in his latest post there is no mention of him whatsoever? Almost like he's making it up as he goes along. Funny that..}

Agree0 Disagree0

Golf with brady or squash with pat rice? ;)

would be delighted with those additions. cant see how we will work out the wages - its always been a pretty solid wage structure ?

sneijder and benzema would go along way to appease the fans - i just cant see it. hope im wrong

Please let this be true

Agree0 Disagree0

..... mate stop making a fool of us Dubs, seriously who is your "apparent" source?

You were all over the site giving all that when the Ribery story broke, than went quiet when the story did...

Sneijder - Taking the Piss with this one
Ribery, this still makes me giggle

But you are proving us Irish as a very witty bunch with a very very creative imagination.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not saying it is true but everyone saying they wont pay his wages, he just stated that the rumour would be that Cescs+Nasri's wages combined will be given to Sneijder which would easily cover it. It wont happen but read everything before replying -.-

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as i would like this to happen, i think its just too much to ask, sneijder would be our great world class replacement and jagielka would be a good addition to our defence. But sneijders wage demad is simply too much :(

There is more chance of Arsenal renaming the Emirates the 'SPURS' stadium. I would love to know where you get this information from. Jagielka yes this will happen. For Sneijder to not only come to us, but to be paid 200 grand a week is ridiculous. As in Zero chance

Bosnian web site - info portal Sarajevo-x.com reported today that Man U have agreement in principal with Inter Milan regarding W. Non-starter - my opinion

{Ed022's Note - Excuse my ignorance and ths is not meant to offend any Bosnians but why would they have information on the deal before any major footballing country in the World, namely England or even Italy where Sneijder plays...?}

This is the most reply's to a post I've ever seen I think, quite funny.

I just can't see this coming off, it's a great 'theory' the way you've presented it, but...I suspect that's all it is- the fact that RVP and Wesley don't get on, makes me suspicious, an oversight on your part perhaps ? Well we have less than a month, we will see for sure by then.

Just wait a day or two and what I have told you will begin to unfold.

If it doesnt then I will never post on here again leaving you free to slate Wenger and the team as usual.

I really don't know why I bother.

{Ed022's Note - A thousand pardons from London to Sarajevo. Like I said, I did not want to offend! On a serious note, I think we've all established that Sneijder is signing for Arsenal in a £15m + part exchange of Nasri...}

FINALLY ENRIQUE IS NOT SIGNING FOR US GET THAT IN TO ALL YOUR HEADS, AW DONT WANT HIM AND NUFC DONT WANT TO SELL HIM. GIBBS IS NUMBER 1 CHOICE AND TRAORE IS NUMBER 2 WHEN HAS AW EVER TAKEN THE ADVICE OF THE WORLD AND BOUGHT A PLAYER FOR A CLEAR NEED?? LAST SEASON HE WAS TOLD HE WILL NEED A GK+CB WHAT HAPPENED? NOWT.

sorry for shouting but it is ridiculous to see enrique in everyones teams, do you know anything about football or are you picking your dream teams of summit??

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Actually, last season, he bought 2 center backs. One has worked out pretty well. The other hasn't but was a proven international.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal fans wanting a new LB after selling CLichy, how do you possibly deem that ridiculous? Gibbs, more injury prone than Van Persie, Traore, not good enough to start ]

So get that into your head.. It will be either Vermaelen or Enrique.

If Barton signs than so will Enrique.

Agree0 Disagree0

AW said no LB will be bought he has Gibbs, Traore and TV5 can play there why waste money on LB. Yeah he bought 2 CB 1 was bought in January tho lets clear that one up mate and Kos was the only real CB he has as squelchy is so substandard he may aswell be a boot cleaner. Gibbs is No1 this season, Not every AFC fan is calling for a LB to be signed, as a club we have a culture of giving kids a chance especially ones who have been with us since they were 7 give him a break and see how he goes we have January if we need one, how long have you been a gunner when you got bored with LFC or in the past 10 years, in which case you cant even have this debate with me as I have seen more players come thru this club then you can imagine most from the academy or YT as it was once called, give him a break, you never know someone might give you a break when you need one, one day. Too greedy and arrogant some so called fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Remind me of the centre back we signed in Jan then please because i know im not the only AFC fan who doesnt have a clue who your on about.
Or am i not a true fan because i dont live in your dream world and agree with you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Unbelieveable, you would have thought £22 million for Mata is a good deal, just pay that fee but now it's going to be £8 million more and not going to happen.

Barcelona's final offer for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas is 37M (incl 5M from player's pay-cut) plus 5M variables. [radio marca].

Take it now Arsene.

Believable19 Unbelievable7

Why should he "take it now"?

That offer is still derisory, and if they aren't willing to match what is fair in the current market, they can GTFO.

You saying "Take it now Arsene" makes it come across like you want Cesc to leave?

Lets be honest, there isn't gonna be many players who we can get in for that money to replace Cesc, so why sell him so cheap, to a club who have been complete and utter c***s about the whole saga.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why take it?
He is worth more.
Sell a few players Barca. That s how the rest of the world does it when they are short of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

So Cesc agrees on a "pay cut" but haven't even handed in a transfer request? Seems to be as much logic in that as that arsenal didn't pay the "agreed" transfer fee for Mata.

Not saying he's staying but not to meet arsenals demands and on top of that give fabs a reduced salery, is really a slap in the face of fabs and Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

No , f**k them and their 37 million

We have the player and we set the price - simple as that.

How is Cesc worth 37m when Andy Carroll is 35m or Torres 50m ?

Dont be held to ransom by anybody.

If Barca want to do business they can pay what they owe for Hleb & Henry first and then pay Cescs asking price.

Just who the f**k do these guys think they are ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope no can do...do they not understand 40 mill is not 37 mill?

id do 25 + thiago or 40 mill...otherwise F OFF

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas patently isn't interested about playing at arsenal, he missed emirates cup. We don't want that to reflect on the rest of the team and for him to be constantly thinking about barca. Furthermore he is missing a lot of games through injury. We have the players to replace him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe th offer is 37m euros which is about £33m

Agree0 Disagree0

Cesc can sod off and follow ur DNA to plastic seat on the sidelines

Agree0 Disagree0

38 mil in total for someone who will have probs with his hamstrings for the rest of his career, plus the fact hes not 100% comitted? Out the door. RVP captain, Vermaelen vice captain. AFC alwys bigger than any one player Gooner in Dublin (not THAT one ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2011 12:28:48
Online Gooner says that they expect Cahill and Jags to be both bought in by the end of the week. I seriously doubt it but I was thinking how good our lineup could be if these two joined and we went 5-3-2
Sczezny
Gibbs Verm Cahill Jags Sagna
Song
Wilshere Nasri
Gervinho RVP

This gives Sagna and Gibbs more chance to attack. Allows Gibbs to develop without going out on loan. Also we all know Verm loves stepping up from the back and with Cahill and Jags behind him he has more freedom in doing this more often. Also it allows Jack to play more attacking

Believable9 Unbelievable17

We cant afford to give Gibbs out ion loan, as it stands he is one of our Most experienced... Although i dont feel he is upto it, too injury prone currently, but if he can shake it off, well than Happy Days...

Agree0 Disagree0

I do like the formation above, we would hopefully have the lowest goals against at the end of the season without blunting the attacking side of our team

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on man Gibbs isn't one of our 'most experiences'. This is an interesting idea, given that Gibbs is so attack-minded, and I think with the movement of our midfielders having 5 at the back wouldn't be a problem. The only thing is though it would essentially mean that enabling Gibbs or Sagna to go forward and still having 4 at the back, we may as well just line up with 4 defs and 4 mids no? This could work against tougher opponents like Man U, where instead of playing free flowing attacking footy we actually sit in and play on the break, that I can picture, but perhaps not for week in week out displays?

Agree0 Disagree0

I very much doubt Wenger will play that positioning, if we do sign Jags and Cahill, expect TV5 to switch to LB, or CDM when Song goes to African Cup, however I doubt he'd go, because of controversy with Eto'o.
So if we sign both defenders expect no LB.

Myles Palmer writes that we will sign both Jags AND Cahill this week. While this is an exciting rumour I can't help not buying into it. Surely we're not gonna sign 2 centrebacks for around 15-20 million each and not guarantee them first-team football? If so, where does that leave Vermaelen and the always improving Kos?

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Wenger stated that he intends to buy one CB. I believe we need two, as Squilacci & Djourou are not up to it. We could then use to pairings of say Samba & Koscilney or Vermaelen & Cahill. As well as having the option, again as stted by Wenger of moving Vermaelen to LB.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true. vermalen could play left back leaving Kos on the bench. Very much doubt that AW will sign both tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kos will never be able to handle set pieces. Verm is also short. Verm will be left back for lge games but CB for euro games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Verm played at LB a lot for Ajax altho his prefered position is CB. Also AW has said that Djourou could play CDM so perhaps that is the plan? Personally hope he will sign one of them plus a LB (enrique?) as not sure Gibbs is up to a whole season

Agree0 Disagree0

Replying to my own post but I have posted before that I believe Kos would make a fantastic DM. He has great pace and is very clean in the tackle. I think potentially he is a far better option than Song, who I feel gives away costly fouls. I think Kos is far too good to be benched.

Agree0 Disagree0

Myles palmer is a spurs fan.

I personally want AW and the board launch another bid for Mata but at 30m it isn't gunna happen. I think that we need a new target, however I think that cesc may be staying. This adds up as no cesc bid and the bid for mata withheld. AW gave cesc deal til Sunday and nothing has happened. If this is the case get rid of nasri and try get mata or someone as equally as good.
I think Barton would be one of the best buys of the tranfer window IF wenger pulls his finger out.
Another point is if cesc goes who will be capt. RVP or TV

Believable4 Unbelievable5

RVP, he's given more to the club

Agree0 Disagree0

RvP will be capt, he's already substituted Cesc on numerous occasions, including the most recent games. Why TV? I'd rather give Song the armband IMO..

Agree0 Disagree0

Song the armband.....Youve got to be kidding right ?? hes one of our biggest liabilites on the pitch, Thomas Vermaelen is by far best choice for captain, tough, correct position, professional and also loves arsenal and believes in the way we play the game (listen to any of his interviews)...he can and will be our vidic

Agree0 Disagree0

Im glad PHW is on here personally requesting AW to bid again, he will def sit up and listen now

Ed, any word about Arsenal bidding for the young Uruguayan CB Sebastian Coates? There were rumours that Arsene was monitoring him, but I haven't heard anything about a potential transfer of late.

He was a beast at the Copa America and would be a great (and a quintessential Wenger-style) signing for us.

Unfortunately, we'll probably just have to content ourselves w Squillaci and Djourou as the backup CB's, despite the fact that they're clearly not up to the task.

Arsenal should stick to their valuation. there should be no discount.

They should be given two options.

one is 40 mill for cesc...in cash

two is 25 mill + Thiago

Three is file a suit against barcelona for fees not paid.

four is to poach more players from barcelona academy.

enough is enough...we are a football club...theres no nice deals...you screw us over we do it twice as much.

Stop being girls and demand. make deadlines and make the player aware that if he wants this he should know barca have a deadline and if they dont meet it after two 3 years of harrasment its time he got to grips that they just look at him as a sub.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barton is a decent player, he will add some aggression to our weedy midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great piece of business, strong, now diciplined, consistant, great squad player, loyal (when the club doesn't treat it's players and fans like idiots) he is free aswell as having EPL experience. JB may have had run ins on the pitch with our boys but fight is what we need and there is no bad blood between barton and our squad on handbags in the heat of the moment, he could add grit and strength in our squad. You may laugh and say "he's not AFC quality" but you are so wrong. He is the sort of player that Graham would've brought in as an option. Old skool mate, ask Adams, Keown and Viera if it's a good signing they will say YES.

Stoke apparently after bendtner - I'd settle for a straight swap for either Huth or Shawcross - they're both quality no-nonsence defenders with PL experience
AG

Believable10 Unbelievable11

Shawcross is NOT welcome

CrossRoss

Agree0 Disagree0

The same Shawcross who broke Ramsey's leg and nearly ended his career?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't forget it was 1) an accident and 2) Shawcross was in tears and came off.

Tbh honest based on recent displays only I'd say Shawcross has the talent but is also on a level with Barton in the thug/dirt stakes and for that reason alone he wouldn't be welcome. I think it would be up to Ramsey and only Ramsey to decide on whether or not he'd be welcome at the club, but for me on quality I'd say yes, current nature (even though it is very clear Pulis has taught him his wares on the training ground) no.

{Ed022's Note - I would just like to add that the whole "witchhunt" towards Shawcross is grossly exaggerated and totally unneccessary. It was an accident and it was badly timed and he clearly was affected by it. He was and is still very young but he is also a bloody good PL experienced defender. Tall at 6ft 3 and no nonsense. Something Arsenal have indeed been lacking... People live in the past far too much. Its done, move on.}

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2011 09:38:15
To clear up the Mata thing

Because Arsenal bid prior to his clause expiring, they can still invoke the expired clause value as they were deemed to be in negotiation at the time of expiring.

They bid under the release clause, hence was rejected

They can now up the bid to the expired clause sum as part of the negotiation that commenced prior to expiry.

Hope that is clear as mud

Believable11 Unbelievable7

As far as i know this clause only stands if you have previously met the Buy out, whcih we did not, if it was that simple i reckon it would be done... I would say walk away form it, we dont want to be held to ransom for possibly another Reyes....

Man City ready with final offer of £22 million for Nasri; ffs take it Arsene, use the money to get Mata ASAP, keep Cesc and buy 1 CB and 1 LB then as far as im concerned we're done and dusted. A mid of Wilshere, Fabregas, Mata with Song/Frimpong holding and Gervinho and RvP upfront looks good. While a defence of Sagna, Vermaelen, Cahill, Enrique is what i'd like:

------------------Szczesny------------------
----Sagna--Koscielny--Vermaelen--Enrique----
-----------------Song/Frimpong---------------
-----Gervinho--Fabregas--Wilshere--Mata----
------------------van Persie-----------------

All future deals are based on Cesc leaving.

No further update on his proposed move or stay.......nothing

He should just come out and say what he wants to do and just get on with it so we can sort out our transfers.

Wenger should not have left it so long to resolve this saga. An early resolution (one way or the other) would have meant any new players getting more time gelling with the squad. Wenger is just too soft

TA LONDON

Believable3 Unbelievable7

What changes if Fabregas comes out and states what he wants? I think everyone would agree that he wants to go back to Barcelona. Does him saying it to the media and them quoting him change this situation? Not in the least. The decision is with Arsene and the board either way and if they feel the are getting a good deal he'll go whether he wants to or not. IF they feel that they are getting shafted, he'll stay, whether he wants to or not.

He (cesc) is messsing us around he says he cares for arsenal well show it even it that means wanting to leave dragging this out to 31 august will hurt as as we will be left with money and no one to spend it on. wenger, gazidis and kronke have let this fester instead of dealing with it a total disgrace

Agree0 Disagree0

Early resolution.... what like accept a £27 million bid for a £40 million pound player Yes your right, he's far to soft.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger should've just bought early either way. It's not like we need money from his sale in order to spend and it would send a message to players like Nasri that they can't just hold the club from ransom. Perhaps Cesc and Nasri wouldn't even be considering leaving if Wenger/the Board showed some intent with signings, and we wouldn't have to deal with this Barca nonsense every summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm totally losing faith in wenger, its august 2nd and we are no further forward he knows what fabregas/nasri want to do so just get on with planning for life without them, use the money we have and if they don't go stick them in the stiffs for a few months, i bet come september 1st we will get same old story"players i wanted not available/too pricey, blah, blah, blah" and we will again flatter to deceive

Agree0 Disagree0

Basically AW should have given an earlier deadline for Barcelona to meet our valuation of Cesc.

Should they fail, then NO deal and he stays. Simple as that........considering he has a 4 year contract left

My view is that AW promised to let him go and so we are on the back foot so just take what you can and move on so the right players can be bought nice and early and integrated into teh team

on the advice of one of our posters on here i looked at the sky web page.. matas agent and dad has said '' he holds milan in high esteem'' perhaps hes on his way there then?

The Night Doctor..

Maybe they see Mata as their replacement for Sneijder. Could suggest milan will let Sneijder go to united, which means they wouldn't need/want nasri amymore?

Arsenal will sign cheik tiote within the next two weeks. He will be playing in red come Sunday 14th august.

Believable3 Unbelievable20

Unfortunately i don't believe this, but i honestly would love to see it happen, Tiote in my opinion had he gone to Chelsea, ourselves or United he would have been considered a bigger bargain than Hernandez...

Agree0 Disagree0

Where on earth has this rumour come from...? And with such assertiveness.... Dont get me wrong, I think he is an outstanding player but Wenger see's Frimpong as replacement DM... This is surely a non-starter

Agree0 Disagree0

He signed an improved contract in january i think or end of season, not a chance in hell.

Regarding mata, I think a lot of people are getting confused. So to sum up...

We had a offer rejected recently and this was confirmed by Mata's father who is also his agent.

He originally had a release clause of around £18 million which meant the only way valencia could keep hold of Mata was to raise his wages by an astronomical amount.

This would have put them in a bad situation as they are not doing well financially.

We did not offer anything at this time.

On Sunday the release clause effectivly 'ran out' meaning the release clause rocketed up to £60 million. This does not mean that we have to pay that much to get him which many people think.

There can still be an arrangement made for a deal to be struck at any fee. But this now puts valencia in a good position as they can decline any offer under £60 million.

They would prefer not to let him go as he is a key player but they have arranged back up in the form of canales of real Madrid on a 2 season long loan if he does leave. They also have an option of buying him for £14 million after.

As for mata, his current contract I think ends in a year or so, so if we don't get him now we could get him for free next year. But by that time I'm sure another club such as man city will snatch him up.

I'm an realistic arsenal fan and say there is a 50 50 chance of capturing Mata but this also relies hugely on the Fabregas saga. I hope he does go as he deserves it. He had been a great captain and through these past 3 years he has not been awkward by demanding moves. Much resect to him.

Please post on rumours as a lot may get confused by the Mata situation :)

Believable12 Unbelievable3

No problems mate, he would be a great addition to our team and I agree we can cope without but I would be annoyed if he moved to man city seeing as they are a closest rivals when it comes to the league table.

Fabragas a great captain Your having a laugh.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Buyout clause is 52million and not 60 as noted above... He will be sold for 20m cash and an additional 10 in add ons... They have debts of 300m they cant afford to mess teams about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reminds me of when city 'missed' the cut off point for the release clause in dzekos contract... which I believe was 40m then? they went on to sign him for less.

I do hope we can get him, but we will see

Looks like we had our bid for Mata rejected. It also looks like Valencia are understandably encouraging a bidding war. Mancini has already said he wants to sign a winger. If Man City step in they'll blow us out of the water. Don't forget, they can also offer Champions League. Maybe we can bribe them with Nasri if they lay off Mata? There's a few more twists in this saga yet to come.

I see spurs go for the 'exact' same transfer target as arsenal once again. First samba then mata and now barton, do they wanna take a look at jagielka too why there at it? Why dont they pick there own targets.
