Hearing that rvp may sign a new contract as he feels the club is moving forward and will be challenging for silverware this season and being more ambitious
Believable33
Unbelievable42
Have you heard this from RVP or his agent, or just wishful thinking.

Disagree1
Hearing or just a guess?
Agree1
Disagree1
You need to see a shrink if you start hearing things mate!
Agree0
Disagree0
Well bully for RVP. Glad club have spent c 40m simply to match his much-vaunted ambitions. Too little, ioo late. Sign tomorrow and you still won't get back the fan's respect. Better for all if you just go.
Agree2
Disagree1
I agree just get rid of him.....I for one have had enough of this. The grass is defo not greener.
Agree0
Disagree0
Hmmmm.... he's a smart guy, could it be that the club wouldn't have pulled their finger out without him putting their nose in it? Could be doing the place a favour. I suspect we will forget the statement if he starts slamming them in again.
However I suspect cazorla is being signed because the directors can bank on a certain amount of coming in for VP. And if he goes so what! just as Thiery said.
Agree2
Disagree0
To be fair every arsenal fan has wonted arsene to spend big and if that's what vp has done then hats off to him then just carry on doing what he does best hopefully for us if not never mind no one is bigger than arsenal in arsene we trust
Agree0
Disagree0
RVP should leave, he done deserve to ware the arsenal shirt
Agree1
Disagree0
I would forgive what he said if it meant we were fighting to win things again, call me shallow but everyone deserves a second chance, no don't call me shallow lol
come on you gunners
bryan
Agree0
Disagree0
You silly people really do not know anything about the RVP situation as you are all screaming for him to leave!
He has Not said he is leaving,
He has Not asked for HUGE amounts of money and would love to stay.
He just wants AFC to buy some better players which is what all us fans wanted as settling for 3rd or 4th place with no silverware is not good enough for a club like ARSENAL FC after 7 years yes 7 YEARS WITHOUT a trophy so get behind the guy for crying out loud because without him last year we would have finished in bottom half of the table, he was the best player in England last season and you lot want him to go well all I can say is read his statement very carefully and you will know exactly what he means and how he feels as an AFC Fan/Player(captain).
Deano
Agree0
Disagree1
Rvp should stay he loves arsenal as a club, the things he said was because arsenal were being left behind by other clubs. This has been our most active transfer season for years as wenger has bought players for now and the future. Rvp has been given number 10 shirt for season starting so that means something surely
Agree0
Disagree0
RVP shud leave, are yous nuts?? hes the reason we got third place last year and there are no strikers in europe like him, so what he vented a bit of frustration i dont blame him, i love our financial model and wouldent change it, but you still have to do your upmost to get your best players to stay, no player is bigger than the club i agree, but van persie has been around and been loyal that most forigieners that play in england. I believe he wants to lift a trophy with arsenal more than anyone, but the EPL gets stronger ever year so its about competing and we have SO much dead wood in the squad more than any other big team, there are about 15 players that are not worthy of playing for us but collect a big wage and dont contribute, Almunia (away EVENTUALLY), Djourou, Arshavin, Bendher, Squillachi, Denilson, Vela, Park(awful signing), Diaby, Chamacq, jenkinson (sorry i know hes young but i dont get this signing) and a few others, and people may disagree but i would sell walcott he is so overrated and to inconsistent, with Ox, Giroud and dolskers i think he shud move on.
Agree0
Disagree0
Would people rather our captain didn't have 'ambitions' and didn't want to win things. Let's not put our pride in the way of what's best for the club. If rvp stays we can genuinely challenge for honours next season. Come on you gunners
Agree0
Disagree0
@Deano, mate you are the one who didnt understand the statement. They guy made it clear he is not signing an extension and I would rather he goes now before the start of the new season.
Agree0
Disagree0
I had that dream too
Agree0
Disagree0
He said he would not renew not that he wanted to leave or that AC Milan were like Beyonce. I think he loves but was just worried we would not win anything while he was here. If he changed is mind I would forgive him. Plus if I was offered double my salary at another firm I might have to consider my future as well. - James
Agree0
Disagree0
Listen why is it hard for some to comprehend that no player is bigger than the club...you don't think all clubs want to win silverware?!everyone does but it shouldn't be at the detriment of your club's ideals and values ...Arsenal (long before wenger and Graham) was built on sustainability and prudence and ambition...we have endured a drought in prizes for what would seem to be a minuscule period in the timeframe of arsenal 's life but make no mistake we are not entitled to win ! And so I found v disturbing when you have ppl here idolising and defending rvp's hurtful (though it may have had some ouncevof truth) statement which only served to further his own agenda...he is v good striker whose achievements were built on the back of his team-mates(who assisted him) and that's that...but to voice in public his discontent is Un-arsenal-like...and for that he lost my respect..I wish him well if he goes but let me repeat this:NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB
Es
Agree0

Spot on deano ,all he said was no ambition, something we all have said for a long time, ambition has now been shown if he stays and performs for the first time in a long time we will be feared by the mancs and whitout blowing 900 mill !
Agree0
Disagree0
Well said Deano
RVP not signing extension because at that time he believe Arsenal don't have ambition to win the league. Not because the money, please read statement from RVP itself, not the media. Media always said bad things about unsettled player especially from Arsenal side.
Agree0
Disagree0
We had two fantastic signings before the window even opened how is that not showing ambitions.
Agree0
Disagree0
You lot need to read RVP statement, only one part to concentrate on..
"Ive thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract"
_ forget about the last year the guy doesn't want to stay so lets get rid, as they always say NO ONE PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB, so lets not bow down to this guys lets say if you now want to say, its the original wage offer or nothing and NO captaincy as this honour needs LOYALTY.........not GREED
Agree0
Disagree0
I wouldn't mind him staying, but I don't EVER want to see him wear the armband. I don't care about why he said what he did, all I care about is he disrespected his fans, his coach and last but not least, the mighty ARSENAL!
A captain should allways put the badge above him self.
CLewis
Agree0
Disagree0
To the person who said I do not understand the statement must not of read the statement! Because RVP said He will sit down for another chat with AW & Gazidis when they get back from Asian tour and he will keep us updated.
In other words if AFC show some ambition and buy players to compete he would love to stay!
So please read things before shouting about stuff that you really do not know.

my friend works at marleybone station and told me that he spotted santi cazorla and martin keown together.
wilshere has suffered another setback which will keep him out till mid november. wenger recently stated 'we will not buy yann m'villa, as we have plenty of midfeilders, we wait on diaby and wilshere and view there fitness' - now wilshere is out for even longer this indicates m'villa is on his way soon

I believe this. I got Keown's autograph at Marylebone after a match a few years ago. I guess he lives along the line somewhere. Maybe he is putting up Cazorla for the night?

Nonsense. Though he was signing today. Why would keown put him up? Think he would have a swarve hotel complements of arsenal. Wenger prob set him up a nice travel lodge haha.
Mvilla is not happening just please give this up. He will look for a loan at best.

Song is NOT signing for Barcalona.. Dont make me laugh. Wenger will not sell Song like that out of the blue and anyway, why do they need him, think where/when is he gona start? LOOL you think he will get played and picked before Cesc, Xavi, Iniesta and co

I'd play him over busquets
Agree3

There Losing Keita {Ed027's Note - your point?, if they want a DM they have said they will bring back Romeu, the only reason ketia got games i because of this midfield loaded formation they played, now they will probz go back to 4-3-3, and Song would not get a game, he is not good enough for them
Agree0
Disagree0
Ed Keita Was the Only True Defensive Mid They Had And Do You Think Romeu Is Better Than Song? {Ed027's Note - Romeu is still developing, so i cant say, also he knows the style etc. and they have busquets and mascherano who is one of the best battlers around, busquets is just a phsyical presence, you dont generally need a proped cdm, you need players who can keep the ball, and are could techinally, spanish teams are a perfect example
Agree0
Disagree0
Ed027, your quite wrong.
Song is much better than Busquets or Mascherano.
Hope he doesnt go. {Ed027's Note - lol, if he never played for Arsenal you would not say that, his duty is to protect the back for, break up play etc, he can occasionally go forward, but when he argues with TV5 over covering for him, you know hes not doing his job

Ed Some People Need To Remove Their Arsenal Goggles Right. {Ed027's Note - yh, i used to be like this
Agree0

Yeahh I was Too I Used To Love song
Agree0
Disagree0
Song is a world class player without a doubt, but after what he showed this season he shouldn't play as a DM. His forces are without a doubt the long lofted passes. His best position would be as a deep-lying playmaker. {Ed027's Note - agreed
Agree0
Disagree0
Wanyama is being chased as songs replacement. Alex will leave, sad, but true.
Agree0
Disagree0
IMO, Son is an honest midfield player, no better than most, and no worse, he has good games and bad games, he laid on some good passes to RVP to score, he failed to track back and let the opposition in to score goals. He gives silly free kicks away, he gets booked for silly tackles. He is the type of player, with the abilities he has that if we were offered silly money for, and do not forget he has only one year left on his contract, that i would sell, there are a lot of players out there who could do as good or not better job for us than he does. We also will miss him for a part of the season to the AC of Nations, what player comes back from these and slots straight back in ? Nothing against him, but do not big him up !
Agree0
Disagree0
Dont forget people that Song is now with DARREN DEIN and NOT ONE of his players has stayed at the Club.
Not 100% sure of his list Cesc, RVP, Clichy, Ade Henry maybe Cole - so much for the Deins luv for the club its more like a conspiracy to get rid of the current board and take self glory/power

12mil for song!? if this is true, im actually disgusted with arsenal.
I head the offer for cazorla is incredible low, £12.5million (16mil euro) but could rise up to 24million euros.
but song is young, amazing and one of our best players will be so sad to see this happen

Interesting news has been brought to my attention. Deals are close to being agreed to extend Walcott, Song & most interestingly Van Persie's deals. These will be announced, if agreed, shortly before the start of the season, the paperwork for Walcott's deal is with Arsenal's lawyers. Song & Van Persie have been made very attractive offers. In Van Persie's case the signings already made & the probable signings of Cazorla & Sahin, in addition to a longer deal on higher wages for a longer term than originally discussed could sway the deal. There is a buzz at the training ground....
