If we get Vertonghen for £7 million aswell as podolski for £10 million already and M'vila for £20 million that is three top quality players without spending over the top

It is like a dream team, my only concern would be RVP's cover but I suppose Podolski can play striker and we have plenty of wingers to cover him.
And hopefully Gibbs will have a injury free run at left back.

Last year:
Paris Saint Germain star Mamadou Sakho has insisted he plans to remain with the club next season - but admits he knows who he wants to leave them for.

Arsene Wenger is a huge fan of the talented 21-year-old defender and French reports suggested he would make a firm move to secure his services this summer, fending off the likes of Liverpool.
But Sakho, who is captain of PSG, insists he is planning on staying in the French capital - even though he knows where he wants to go eventually.

"Contact this summer, I have extended until 2014 and I know where I want to go, I have a career strategy," he told L'Equipe.

"I know what I want to achieve at Paris, how long I want to stay, so I don't pay any attention about what is rumoured.

"I can insist to you I am not in a leaving state of mind. I don't ask myself such questions. But you never know what can happen during the summer transfer window.

"I have already told some friends my objectives are to become PSG captain one day and play with that club in the Champions League. Then, I will be able to leave with my head raised high."

"There are still points I need to improve. Let's say I am still at 50 per cent of my potential."

April this year:
Mamadou Sakho has spoken out about his frustration at being benched just as Paris Saint-Germain head into their final few games of the season, in search of a first Ligue 1 title since 1994.

Club captain Mamadou Sakho has been reduced to sub appearances in recent weeks
Sakho, 22, has been an important member of the PSG side since making his league debut aged just 17, but has found himself sidelined under Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti. The former Chelsea boss instead prefering to start recent signings Alex and Milan Bisevac.

The France international defender had not been in the best of form and despite his frustration, understands that he must put his feelings aside and focus his efforts for the good of the club.

"It's infuriating, frustrating, annoying to be on the bench," the PSG captain told Le Parisien. "But I can't let the team feel my emotions.

"The most important thing is that PSG win and become champions. Then we can discuss my personal case later."

The Paris side have won just one of their last five league encounters, conceding the advantage at the top of the table to rivals Montpellier at a crucial stage of the season.

This year:
Arsenal to pounce as Sakho faces PSG axe
Arsenal are monitoring closely Mamadou Sakho™s deteriorating situation at PSG.
The defender has long been admired by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and confessed he would be considering his options after a difficult season under coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Things become worse for Sakho on the weekend as he gave away penalty in defeat to Lille.
French sources say it could be the final major act by Sakho as a PSG player.
SOURCE: Tribalfootball
Arsene Wenger has long been linked with interest in French defender Mamadou Sakho but it would seem odd for the Gunners boss to pursue the youngster now given that he appears to have many suitable defensive options at the club at the present time.
With Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny forming a very solid central defensive partnership and with Per Mertesacker on hand as back up and Jan Vertonghen reportedly on his way to the club from Ajax, is there a need to bring in the young PSG man?

First of all, your post is amazing, because it only has his quotes, and its in a linear order.

Secondly, if he came to us, id be really happy, because he offers the same flexibilty as dj but on the left hand side.

Strong, young, and well educated. Great prospect for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I certainly dont think we would need/sign him if we got Vertonghen. He is a great prospect, but is too similar to Vert to warrant signing both - they are both left-footed CBs who can cover LB right? although im not sure Sakho could cover DM like Vertonghen can. I dont think Sakho would sign if we got Vertonghen due to reduced 1st team opportunities (he would be 4th/5th choice CB and 3rd/4th choice LB). If we had to choose between the 2, I would rather have Vertonghen (who is also probably cheaper).

Oleg Maputo

Agree0 Disagree0

Vertonghen might seem like the only player in the world that we should sign, but as soon as someone else signs him (if they do) then we will forget him, and move onto someone else...sakho is the someone else, and I think he is just as good as vertonghen.

Just going to make a point here... RE: Javier Perez's comments etc.

I've spoken to him a few times... And at first I THOUGHT he meant a "pre-agreement" with the club(s) ALA Chamakh and tbh defended him as such, but he has made it abundantly clear that AFC have "signed Pre-Agreements" with the players and their agents.

I am backing the Ed's up on this... He talks absolute crock and is misleading AFC fans. The guy claims to be a Journo with "20 yrs experience" and yet the only mention of him is from his bloody Weebly "blog" and nothing mainstream or concrete whatsoever.

The daily star are reporting that Real Madrid will offer £40 million for van Persie.. I don't want him to leave but if he wants to go then we could do a player plus cash deal for him

£10mil + Higuaķn or straight swap for benzema would be a great deal in my eyes..

As I said I don't want him to leave but if he won't sign a new contract then this would be great business for a player close to 30 and in the last year of his contract..

Peter the gooner

Believable15 Unbelievable23

Peter , really sorry to say this mate but both of them are worth more than RVP , because of age etc . I know I am a Spurs supporter but this isnt said with malice . Theres no way Real Madrid would pay more for RVP .
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe your right about benzema Davo but Madrid are looking for £32 mil for higuain. I think £40 mil is the top end price for van Persie but if they want him that badly then we can definitely barter a deal for one of their strikers, if we don't it's another missed chance in the transfer window.. {Ed002's Note - The price Higuain was offered for in January was 48M euros.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And 48mil=£38mil and with a year less on his contract would bring the price down further so £32mil would probably get you higuain.

Chris

We should ask for
Sahin
Benzema
Khedira

RVP is better than benzema. one of the most over rated players in the world AND not proven in EPL

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Higuain and he scores goals so does Benzema they both seem like good players who would fit into our style of play and they would both probably advance under Wengers tutelage

Agree0 Disagree0

Benzema wud b perfect, very good and onli 24-25 straight swap for rvp wudnt b so bad as for higuan we shud take him plus cash for rvp....rvp is gettin older almost 30 and injury proness will onli increase!

Marvin martin apparently wants to move to lille as hazard's replacement for next season. So, if hazard goes to man utd or man city, that means we lose two birds with 1 stone.

Believable11 Unbelievable11

Why man city or man united why nor arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Has MM not signed for Chel$ki already? {Ed002's Note - Marko Marin has agreed to join Chelsea. Dortmund, Lille, Lorient and Anderlecht have enquired after Marvin Martin, but Valencia and Arsenal have been most serious in the pursuit of the Socheaux player. I suspect a move in the summer is possible.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he will goto the highest bidder, and we are never the highest bidder

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course its possible...anything is possible. Dortmund to sign martin if they lose kagawa, is more than possible. Lille to sign martin if they lose hazard is more than possible.

ED, big rumours in Holland today that Tottenham are talking with Ajax about Vertonghen. With one of our biggest papers de Telegraaf reporting it. What do you know about that? I thought that Arsenal is the one who makes the biggest chance to sign him. But if i have to believe rumours today. Then he will go to tottenham.

Dutchman {Ed002's Note - Spurs have made an approach to Ajax about the player, it is true. Actually talking to the player is likely untrue.}

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Vertonghen's agent has confirmed more than one club [in England] has agreed the £7m fee with Ajax, those clubs being Spuds and us.

The agent is speaking with Spuds, as a formality because Ajax have agreed the fee. However it'll be in Verts hands, where he goes.

=M.A. {Ed002's Note - Thanks for the update.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If Arsene wants Vertinghon, I am certain he would join us ahead of the Spuds. However, I am not certain Wenger wants him, as we already have 4 CB's, plus Miquel & Bartley. The only reason Wenger will sign him is if he intends selling Djourou or fancies Vertonghen as a utility player, covering 3 or 4 positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buying vertonghen could hopefully mean goodbye to johan/squilacci and possibly bartley (no big deal), also allows miquel to do a loan stint and gives decent cover options to our left back and defence midfield areas which is handy for any further continued development of coquilen and frimpong.
going after m'vila could mean that either we are selling song or that coquelin/frimpong have no chance with us plus it points to not improving our defensive lot.
vertonghen is cheaper and covers more bases, makes more sense to go with him so fingers crossed.

Ed, What is all this about Vertonghen being in talks with the spuds? Any truth in it? I hope it isn't true. {Ed002's Note - Spurs have made an approach to Ajax about the player but I still very much expect Vertonghen will move to Arsenal in the summer.}

Hi Ed,

Any views on Belhanda coming to Arsenal? I know the player has 2 years left on his contract and is unlikely to extend - so will Montpellier consider selling him?

I know Bayern, Real Madrid, PSG, are all looking at the player as well - but who is the front runner?

I suppose his coming to Arsenal would depend highly on how many players we have going out.

Billybob {Ed002's Note - There is interest from confirmed interest in Belhanda from Bayern Munich, Arsenal and PSG and there is unconfirmed interest from Liverpool, Inter and Roma. The player wishes a move to Germany with Bayern Munich or Dortmund or to play for PSG if Germany is not possible.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Interesting. That's said, with Bayern signing Shakiri as well, not sure if there is room for Belhanda there.

I can only hope Arsenal sign him. CLASS player. Although we probably have too many midfielders at the moment, particularly if M'Vila is coming in.

I wonder what will happen to the following loanees, my predictions in brackets:

Bothelo (will get WP, interesting to see if he will be kept in the squad), Welington (still no WP, not that great and still has attitude problems), Galindo (struggles to get games in Spain, I believe he will be sold, not AFC quality) and Campbell (if he get WP, I believe he will be in the squad for next season as he is under21)

I believe Sanchez Watt and Eastmond will be sold, and there is also a possibility regarding Lansbury, Mannone and even Bartley to be offloaded.

What do you think?

Romanian Gooner

Believable11 Unbelievable3

RG,

Botelho has a worse record with his behaviour atm, than Silva. Botelho has driven drunk and crashed into a police car, of all things... Rayo terminated his loan spell due to this.

Replacements at AFC:

GK: we need an experienced goalie as back-up for Chesny so I would bet my money on a English player, that has home grown status. Another option is the free agent, Rene Adler :) I would love him.

CB: Squid and Djurou to be sold, Vertonghen in, Bartley returning and Miquel promoted. Plenty of quality options there.
RB and LB: quite clear, with Jan, Coquelin and Yennaris providing back-up and depth
DM: M'Villa, Song and Frimpong - quality and depth
CM: Denilson out, Benayoun is returning to Chelski, so one body in midfield needed, maybe Goetze (but unlikely): to choose from - Arteta,Rosicky, Wilshere,Ramsey, Diaby,Arshavin, Lansbury, Ozzy, Eisfeld, maybe Aneke (but to early 4 now).
Wings: Same suspects, Walcott (a replacement in case he is sold), AOC, Ryo, Gervinho, also Poldi and Santos can be used on the LW.
ST: this is the massive overhaul, also because in the system we play, and if Persie stays there are only 2 more places really available on the bench. If Persie si certainty, together with Poldi, they will be our main strikers. the third could be another signing like Matias Suarez but this only depends of the strikers we can offload from the current squad (Chamakh,Vela,Bendner, Park). Also Campbell and Afobe could play, depending on the above.

Romanian Gooner

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Im pretty sure you can never go wrong with a german goal keeper. Adler would end up coming and being the best in the country after a season - and schezney would be back on the bench.

I believe that the ideal summer for us would be signing Podolski, Vertonghen M'villa and one creative CM like Goetze or any other possible candidate you would think off.

Vertonghen (versatility) and M'villa (missing man in midfield) look very likely to join, especially if we finish 3rd but the play maker will be more difficult. If we don't get Goetze, in my opinion we should use Wilshere in that role with Arshavin as back-up.Also keep Diaby in the squad one more year, even if he is out of the 25 man squad, because he could be useful in cup games and CL. Promote Ozzy and Eisfeld to first team, and problem is solved.

What are the chances of Arsenal signing Ajax's Eriksen? And roughly how much would any potential buyer have to pay to get his services?

Sydney Gooner {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. The Milan Press Office are convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expect a bid to be made by for Eriksen who remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for two more years before moving to Spain. Expect AC Milan and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

If milan are interested, why do they need to wait for man utd to bid for him, before they bid themselves?

Any club that has spare money and an ageing midfield, are linked with eriksen - along with other top creative midfielders.

I am very excited that we look in such a good position to get Vertonghen and possibly Mvila. For me, they complete 3 perfect summer signings. If we could get 1 more, my choice would be Henry. I think we could do with one more reliable goalscorer, and he proved that he can be that with his 3 goals in 7 games on loan. He is also on fantastic form at NYRB (over 1 goal p/game this season). His intimations that he wants to become part of our coaching setup could be good grounds to lure him back for a final spell as a player, before joining the coaching team. He will be great for the dressing room and can offer a lot more on the pitch than Chamakh, and probably than Park.

GK-wise I hope we re-sign Fabianski (his contract is expiring right?) as a back-up. And midfield-wise, I believe that the return of Wilshere and Ryo will boost the creativity we have sometimes been lacking in recent games. I personally dont think we need to go in for someone like Belhanda or Hernanes. I reckon we should leave it until January to see if we still need someone like that but I dont think we will, with Podolski coming in, Wilsh & Ryo returning, Gervinho probably improving, Song in a more attacking role, Rosicky still around, Ox stepping up to fight for a 1st team place, Diaby maybe maintaining some fitness, and Ramsey hopefully upping his game to compete with others. I know these arent all CAM's, but I think we have enough danger and creativity going forward. For me, Podolski, Vertonghen, MVila and Henry would be an outstanding summer's purchasing.

Afterwhich, the only possible signings will be a replacement for players whose contracts are nearing their end, if they refuse to sign. RVP, Walcott & Song. Anybody else a little bit upset that we missed out on Marin for 7 mil?

I know that we've got Podolski and as happy as i am about that...Marin for 7 mil is a fantastic deal.
They also got Cahill for 7 mil.

Could you imagine if we had got Cahill and Marin for 14 mil? How crazy is that. Bolton and Bremen should've demanded at least 10 mil for each, especially Marin.

Gutted that two quality players went for such a cheap price and we missed out.

Lets hope we now sign M'Vila, Vertonghen and Eriksen so we can win the Premier League and convince Van Persie to stay.

Do you honestly think M'Vila will sign? If so, out of 10 likeliness?

Do you honestly think Vertonghen will sign? If so, out of 10 likeliness?

Which players have publicly said that they want to join us?

And one more, which players are we showing strong intrest in?

Thanks a heap mate,

I've been taking a good look at M'Villa lately and for all the praise he gets over being a good propper defensive mid, he's really quite attacking as well. He constantly passes and moves and finds space brilliantly anywhere on the right side of the pitch, even on the wing! His link-up play is crazy good.

I do hope though if we do buy him we keep Songo and play him as a centre mid, even along side M'Villa. I believe that with 14 assists in all compatitions he has the most in the team this year, if we can work even more on his forward play and goal scoring I think he may become a Yaya Toure style player, minus the diving.

Gimme your thoughts, Cheers!

Ben X.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Naa you want song right where he is! a goal scorer haha wake up buddy!

Agree0 Disagree0

Because of his attacking attributes I thought Man City would sign him to replace De Jong.

Seems like Arsenal are the favorites. Regardless, as long as we get some more quality players in the league next season I am happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree, Song and M'vila would be very solid. I think people are harsh on Song defense-wise, he works very hard and breaks up a lot of play. He is just a bit over-zealous sometimes and gets booked. It's true that he can sometimes leave us a bit exposed, but he also tracks back to make crucial challenges and interceptions in the box. Overall, he would benefit a lot from someone like M'Vila just sitting behind him, and would become a lot better in his attacking AND defending. I cant see too many teams easily breaking down that midfield, particularly if you add Wilshere or Arteta.
