wow theres been a lot of speculation coming in right now maybe its all hype because of podolski,but theres news heating up with mvila,vertonghen i really believe there a lot twist and turns within arsenal transfer deal i honestly believe the link between eden hazard and arsenal has not finish just as the enemy /spuds are offering cash /player for hazard so hold your seats this is going to be a bumpy ride

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Hazard will cost way too much for us, man utd/city will blow us out the water.
can't see us getting both vertonghen and m'vila.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are my fellow Gooners so negative?
We have more than enough money to compete for any player in the world so start thinking positive as there will be big changes in the summer for us to compete for every cup and Wenger knows this is needed.
COYG!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not being negative its being realistic, take phil jones for example we backed out as far as i'm aware as soon as man utd came sniffing, wenger will not pay extortionate transfer fees, look at our biggest signings compared to that of utd, city and chelsea, history does'nt lie ;)

Eds - are we likely to be signing Hoilett on a free in the summer? Think I'd prefer him to Walcott tbh? He knows how to use his pace and where the goal is!

EMG {Ed002's Note - I can't say "likely". Bolton, Spurs, Sunderland, Newcastle, Stoke, Arsenal and possibly Aston Villa and QPR have been interested - plus a couple of clubs from Germany, including Bayern Munich, and Marseille from France. I understand that Roma have dropped their interest after an offer of a pre-contract agreemnent was spurned. The English sides were at a disadvantage in the chase for Hoilett now as he is in to the last six months of his contract and he can talk to interested parties from outside of England but as time moves on that is becoming less of an issue. Blackburn will offer him a new deal but I doubt he will be interested, in the same way as a move to Bolton, Aston Villa or Stoke is unlikely. If pushed, I would say North London or foreign shores are the most likely destinations - and I do expect him to leave this summer.}

Brilliant news about Podolski and according to the Mirror it appears that Vertonghen and Mvilla will be following him in to the Emiraes.
So many talking points! Will Podolski play upfront with Van Persie? Will the formation change? If Mvilla and Vertonghen join would that be enough to persuade Van Persie to stay?
I think the main issue is the lineup if all of these come in. My preferred one would be.
Szcezny
Sagna Vermaelen Koscielny Vertonghen
Mvilla Song
Wilshere
Walcott RVP Podolski

Would love to hear everyones views!
Remember to follow @GoonerForLife3!

Believable26 Unbelievable1

Strong and we would have a decent bench at long last
Must be strong to drop Arteta
Still need a centre forward to back up RVP
Only issue is the left back as not sure this gives us an attacking option there and we suffered this year when we lost our fullbacks
SY4

Agree0 Disagree0

I know Vertonghen is a great player but I think he is more of a centre back/defensive midfielder. He can play LB but is kind of like vermaelen there.

aussie gunnah

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a strong team, slight problem is are m'vila and song creative enough to play together? i would like to see belhanda at the emirates next year. Belhanda/arteta/ rosicky/wilshere/ song/benayoun/ AOC/m'vila is a hell of a proposition to choose 3-4 starters from! Vertonghen should be used at CB on rotation, Gibbs looks to have overcome injury snags and i think he looks quality at LB personally.
Ricky the sg

Agree0 Disagree0

This is my team for next year too although I think Walcotts place is under threat from a host of rumoured signings.. My pick would be robben with Walcott as understudy but think wenger will take Hoilett on a free

I believe javi martinez would be a better signing than m villa. If u have watched bilboa this season the man is world class and is as good in cb as cdm. Can start attacks as well as stop them. Definitly going to be one of the best players in the world soon like. We should snap him up asap like. Azda14 {Ed002's Note - I think it would be significantly more difficult to "snap up" Martinez.}

Lukas Podolski is a top striker in my opinion.At such a young age to do the things he did was truly superb. To be a regular for your national side at such a young age and to retain such a position year in, year out, even when your club side is relegated, is special. I can't think of many players who have achieved such a feat, and it takes a special player to do so. Podolski is a natural finisher, as well as an assist-machine. He just seems to get himself in positions to pounce, whether it be slotting the ball home or making a 40 yard run into the box and setting up a team-mate. The only issue I have with Podolski as a player, is he seems to be a tad one-footed. Not completely one footed, but primarily. He's a very left footed player but actually does this well, as he seems to adjust his body in certain positions to cope with this, and I've seen him score some goals from the right side of the pitch with the outside of his left foot and they've been screamers, so luckily he makes it work, and it makes his style unique. With this in mind, Podolski is also very good with set pieces - Corners and Free Kicks. This represents him fully, as he can either be provider, or scorer, which is important for a player joining the Premier League. I think it'll be great to see him in the Premier League. In my honest opinion, I believe he's made the right move choosing Arsenal, and the thought of RVP and Podolski forming a partnership is truly, truly mouthwatering.

®hi ads could you tell me what the possibility is of Vertonghen and M'Vila signing for us. How far are talks along with both players so far, has it got to personal terms for either yet? if so when do you expect deals to be announced. With the podolski signing confirmed do you think RVP will stay? thanks in advance {Ed002's Note - I would say the chances are very good and good. I would not want to guess at exactly where the talks are.}

Fee has been agreed for M'Villa. Arsenal sent Representatives to France yesterday to tie up deal just personal terms need to be agreed now.

Should hear about it from the club witihn a week or so Wenger wants to tie up deal before the Euros.

C'mon you GUNNERS

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Really hope so. Getting M'Villa before the Euro's would be a definetly be a sensible thing to do, a half decent tournament would see his value increase by a few million. I'm still not sure if I believe Wenger would splash out 20mill on one player. Is he really worth it? {Ed002's Note - It will not be possible to complete his transfer before the Euros.}

can anybody inform me why M'vila is apparently amazing? he has 124 appearances, 4 goals and 3 assists according to wikipedia which is hardly spectacular {Ed002's Note - Wouldn't be if he were a centre forward admittedly.}

Believable15 Unbelievable9

Song is playing as 'dm' and his stats are far more 'spectacular'. I dont see m'villa solving any problems.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mvila is dmf ...dmf main job is to break opponents play..

Agree0 Disagree0

Song goes missing and leaves the back four exposed very regularly, he is not an out and out DM like M'Vila. M'Vila would be a lot more disciplined and just sit in front of the back four protecting, covering and breaking play up.
Above poster, you're looking at the wrong stats mate. Try looking at interceptions, pass completion, etc etc

Hass

Agree0 Disagree0

Song doesnt play as a dm, arteta gives him much more freedom, m'vila on the other hand will just sit behind the ball and use possession smartly without leaving us exposed

Agree0 Disagree0

Imagine M'villa more as a gilberto type role mate, won't score too often except from set plays (the season where gilberto was our top scorer excluded) but will sit infront of the back four and just shore up the midfield.

D

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember Claude makelele? Scored 1 goal for Chelsea and that was a rebound from his missed penalty, arguably one of the greatest defensive midfielders.

Clock end gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you guys have hit the nail on the head. M'Vila is in the hold of Makelele (esque), his focus is solely on winning the ball and getting it forward for his more creative team mates. Would be an excellent addition, a centre back partnership of 2 of possibly Vertonghen/Koscielny/Vermaelen with M'vila sitting in front would in my eyes be on level with any team in world football.

Jose Mourinho wants to get one over on Arsenal and Liverpool by landing Lucas Biglia this summer.

Both Premier League clubs are vying for Biglia having been impressed with his performances for Anderlecht in the Belgian league.
The Argentina international is highly sought after, with the likes of Juventus and PSG also monitoring him - and now Mourinho's Real Madrid are keen too.
Biglia, 26, is said to be ready to make his move to a prominent European league and Arsenal are expected to try and land him this summer.
But Mourinho is also keen on the defensive midfielder and will be backed by the Real Madrid hierarchy at the end of the season.
Madrid are still smarting from their Champions League exit and plan to sign Europe's top talent this summer as they go in chase of a 10th European crown.
With La Liga seemingly in the bag, Mourinho wants to keep Madrid at the top and a move for Biglia is now in the pipeline.
---
Does this change your view on bilgia

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Why would it change our views on him? not sure what you mean. I think everyone on this site knows he's class. Everyone's raving about M'Vila but I have now watched about 4 games and the highlights of his contributions throughout another 3 or 4 games and I fail to see where they hype is. Biglia is Argentinian, for me even this is enough to make us sign him over M'Vila haha. We want to improve commercial revenue? Sign an Argy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm from Belgium and I personnaly think the Belgian league is overrated. Don't get me wrong Biglia has played some good games, but this hype is actually Milan Jovanovic or Romelu Lukaku all over again. Yes they are excellent players FOR THE BELGIAN PRO LEAGUE. there is a reason you don't see belgian teams doing well in Europe, they just aren't good enough, we're improving, but we're not there yet.

I would gladly swallow my words if proven wrong, but up untill few players in the Belgian league have made it at top teams (unless they play abroad in a lesser competition and confirm their talent).

Ed's, I was wondering of you knew what stage we are at with m'villa? I've heard rumours that we are in advanced negotiations with Rennes about him moving? Is this true at all and what kind of a deal could be struck if so? Also do you believe he will be an arsenal player next season? Thanks.

AFC21 {Ed002's Note - M'Vila will join Arsenal if an acceptable bid is made to Rennes - he is there for the taking and I think, as I have said on many occasions, would be a great addition to the squad.}

Does anyone else think that the issue of walcott signing a new contract isnt getting the attention that it warrants. Of course he's not as important as rvp, anyone who knows a thing or two about football can see that. Despite his inconsistency, when it's his day, he is a class player, you just have to look at the spuds and chelsea games to see that. I reckon it would be a massive loss if we lost him. What do you think the chances of him leaving are Ed?
Jersey Gooner {Ed002's Note - I don't expect that he will leave.}

Believable13 Unbelievable1

I reckon it would be a real blessing in disguise if he left, I really do. The biggest problem with Theo is that he is simply not a player we can rely on in any way. He performs when he feels like it. He has no concept of how to get into a game if he isn't in it from that start (no adaptability). He has zero skill on the ball and as a winger that is criminal, it's no surprise he can't beat a man. He doesn't know how to use his pace or time his runs. He doesn't draw defenders out of positions because he plays on their shoulder, and he doesn't do that right either. Good wingers will draw a man out and then beat him and occupy that space. He doesn't do this. I would much rather we got rid of him, despite his pace, and bought another fast winger who actually knows how to beat a man. Then our attacking play wouldn't break down half as much and Sagna would be under less pressure. Theo also needs to learnt hat to be the best he has to track back EVERY game not just sometimes. For me he's had his chances and simply is not reliable enough for a club like us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point, but hes not a winger remember? hes a striker, he always was before he joined us. id love to see him deployed more in that role
Jersey Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

A real blessing in disguise lmao.

Get real for a moment as there was a player not too long ago playing for Juve who the fans said was not up to anything and inconsistant, he then went on to become the greatest Premier League striker of all time eh i think his name was eh Titi Henry or GOD to you and I.

I get that Theo is inconsistant but considering he is outof position and Wenegr has stated the long term goal is to deploy him as a super fast scare the crap out of everyone forward. Why let him go as on his day he turns games and whilst being inconsistant sets up a majority of what RVP has scored this season, with a glowing reference from the great RVP himself. Do you really think we will send out great messages to our current or future players or Prem for that matter if we just offed him.

THEO is the future, English, still young in football terms and a bright future awaits him, 26 is the start of the peak times for a player and seeing as he is just that in a few more years lets try to build up the squad as there are many more others who do need a shove and for me THEO is not one of them.

Rant over lol

with podolski almost signed, expect wenger to be busy in the tranfer market. A CB LB and CM are top taregts. Wenger wants bains for LB but will have to cough up arund 16m, which wenger is willing to pay for a proven english player. The CB position currently has a number of tragets. these being hangaland, Agger, and albiol. Wenger wants albiol and could land him for around 10m. The CM postion is the main priority. wenger wants someone who can find a pass and score goals. targets inlclue goetze, kagwa, dempsey and kaka. Most likely will be either dempsey or kagwa.

Sagalout

Agree0 Disagree0

One down....four to go. I think Podolski is great help to us in the forward area either on the left wing where he has been prolific or as a ST/CF. We also need a proper big #9 to as backup to Van Persie and who can provide a diversity to our game especially when we struggle to break teams down such as Olivier Giroud.

We also need to take care of the defensive part of the game by tying down the deals for Vertonghen and M'Vila. Our defense was once again ravaged by injuries these season and we really do need to ensure adequate quality and depth. Vertonghen provides a flexible and capable defender while M'Vila is built more in the proper holding midfielder role than Song, whose offensive side of the game is developing admirably.

If I am not being to greedy I think we need some additional creativity in the middle. I like the lift that Rosicky has given us thus far in the second half of the season, but think we need a real starter on the team. My preference would really be Eriksen (Ajax) but I am not sure that he is ready to leave holland. My alternatives would be Kagawa or Belhanda. We need someone that can create as well as provide goals and both of these guys have proven they can do that in competitive leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone else think that our squad numbers need a massive reshuffle? Podolski will probably be getting either No.9,11, or 23. Hopefully he gets the No.11 on his back which will suit his playing position and we give Santos some other squad number.

Fantastic signing for Arsenal if RVP stays, if he doesnt then Podolski will have all the pressure on his shoulders.

I would like to see a big CB and also a creative midfielder added to the squad now. Someone like Erikson or Gotze would be perfect. Also i think the OX should play more games next season, he looks fantastic and causes a real threat.

There is no reason why Arsenal shouldnt be competing for a top spot next season, all that is needed is two more big "proven name" singings and we will be jamming

arsenal are interesting in signing celtic fc striker gary hooper in the summer for a fee around 10.5 million is the spl top goal scorer and good on the ball plus is a poacher and that is what arsenal are needing and before people say its the spl any 1 can score in the spl remember hes did it in the championship as well

Believable5 Unbelievable26

I have been following his career as he is from my area.He is just what we need is very quick and a good finisher.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a rangers fan and an arsenal one and he is not what we need especially not for that fee jelavic was the spl top scorer before he left and he is ripping the English league apart so some quality players come from spl

He used to play in league 1 in england and was hopeless, never good enough for arsenal in a million years and especially not for that fee, they boy named above from Rangers was a much better player and only went for 5 or something

before i pen in the rumors, i will mention my name as the editor previously pointed out that I forgot to do it.. Since u ppl slated me with all that idiotic comments, i am happy to use this tag "Idiotic ITK"..

I previously reported on holtby, suarez, vertonghen, mvila and podolski. Also mentioned which ones are not the rumors.. So continuing with the updates as I promised I will have regarding javi martinez to arsenal, well here they are.. Javi is the plan B to mvila and yes i can assure you. Some of would say that he is more expensive then how come plan B? Mate but not the priority.. As for more news accordding to a reliable spanish radio arsenal have bid for susaeta... Now I have again mentioned the source from where I have tapped it up just like I mentioned that united has offered a deal to kagawa was tapped from bild... More on this from my side, kagawa is also in talks with milan.. But i think he would end up with united.. And i have only said in talks with milan, it doesnt mean he will defo move there... As for hazard as I said, city will pip united for hazard. Who has the next best chance? Spurs. Yes ppl spurs, only if they get qualified for ucl.. But for now city should seal him.. Alves will go to psg, barca are seriously trying to strike a deal for llorente after capturing alba from valencia.. Madrid targets have been redefined a little in aguero, vidal and lucas biglia.. He is their main dm target and not mvila... As for mvila, yes I can now say for sure we are in advanced negotiations. I could have gone with the reports from france last week but had to wait till confirmation from my side. And as for giroud, I would say a big "no" for now but things changes quickly in football so you never know. Only if rvp leaves maybe then(but i dont see him as an able replacement).
