Gibbs out for 3 weeks with thigh injury.

3 weeks at arsenal is 4 months in the real world

It'll seem like 4 months with santos filling in at left back. absolutely useless!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to sign a LB tonight. Santos is one of the worst LBs in history and he is worse that cygan was at cb.

I think Wenger said towards the end of the Summer transfer Window. .

"We are very close, we are working round the clock. If it doesn't happen now, it will happen in December"

I mean, lets get real people, pushing all the emotion aside, he is a bare faced liar for the board, isn't he ?

Agree0 Disagree1

Even though he was playing tonight

Agree0 Disagree0

We should be so lucky. Gibbs has gone down with a thigh injury. Looks like we are stuck with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly now that Gibbs is injured (again) and out for 3 weeks we will have to keep Santos - oh dear!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal fans always hating their players !

Agree0 Disagree0

Santos might not be the best but he loves arsenal and is no worse than sagna and we are not getting any one so give him a chance

Agree3 Disagree0

Thought he played better than sagna against liverpool, had more defensive sense and didn't attact as much as normal. I say he is getting there. Wenger please play jenkinnson as well

Agree0 Disagree0

"Santos might not be the best but he loves Arsenal"! What deluded world do you live in. He is a mercenary and will love any club that pays him exorbitant wages for being a less than mediocre player. Probably the worst left back in the top three divisions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Santos is awful - enough said!

Hi eds, with liam brady announcing he is leaving by 2014 is this the start of the significant changes both ed001 and ed002 have been mentioning? do either of you have anymore info on the matter? I personally think wenger will see out his contract until 2014 then go unless we do extremely bad until the end of the season in which case he may go this summer! Once again thanks in advance love the job you guys do on here!

Bedford Gooner {Ed001's Note - yes, it seems to be the start of them.}

Believable14 Unbelievable2

While Wenger is in charge Arsenal will not win another thing. His arrogance is destroying the football club. Over the last 8 years we have not won anything and if it wasn't for the side he inherited from previous managers we would not he would of not won anything previously. 100% guarantee we will never win anything again under Wenger. #hadenoughoflies

Agree1 Disagree0

Are you mad he inherited an ageing back four that is all. I agree we won't win anything with him still in charge but I can't see how you can slate him for what he has done for this club in the early nineties we were a top 10 club just. And now 15 straight years in the premier European club competition. I have lost faith in wenger as our manager now but I will never question what he has done for our club...

Woodsy 81

Agree1 Disagree0

Haha side he inherited players like Henry and Viera jog your memory? Even though I agree he has lost his edge you can't say he hasn't achieved things himself

Agree1 Disagree0

Chippy leaving is definitely a sign of change. Unfortunately he's the last person I ever thought would leave. He may stay on in some other capacity hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger inherited Henry and Viera? Are you a total C***?

Agree1 Disagree0

Wenger signed henry

Agree0 Disagree0

Henry was signed as a winger not a forward. It was slightly lucky that he turned into one if not the best arsenal players ever. Viera yep quality but for every Viera I give you squilacci, Santos, Chamach & that South Korean dude. Wenger has signed more rubbish than any other top 5 or 6 side over the last 8 years and Walcott had to threaten to leave before getting moved up front. He is our top scorer now so if Wenger is so good, why did Walcott have to ask? Surely Wenger is as greater manager as you say he should be seeing that sooner. And how many years has every Arsenal supporter being saying we need DM, and has he got one? No! So why can we see that but he can't?

Agree0 Disagree0

Matt Scott said this morning that Chippy was leaving because he doesn't see eye to eye with Wenger. He feels that he has brought through some exceptional young players but that they are never given a chance. This would seem to indicate that Wenger is going nowhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2013 09:19:22
the daily mail suggests wenger had a meeting with Ivan Gazidis on Monday about arsenal transfers. Rumours are arsenal will not sign anyone in this windown but have a big spree in the summer, is this true Ed?

Ads995 {Ed001's Note - the meetings between them happen regularly, hardly worthy of discussion to be honest.}

Who would come without CL football?

Agree0 Disagree1

Good Note Ed001

Agree0 Disagree0

I read that as well but find it laughable because how mean times has Ivan the Terrible said there's money to spend and plenty of it and how many times has it turned out to be rubbish. That huge sum of money will be used to cover the losses of revenue from Champion's League when we fail to finish fourth.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2013 17:04:39
Don't expect Barcelona to sell Villa, they want to keep him as they are short up front themselves and still in the big competitions, plus they dot have a profit-orientating board like us!

Expect a late, late deal to be completed tomorrow night, no names yet but more than likely a DM as we all expected (Diame will be a last resort if all else fails from what I gather)

Believable9 Unbelievable4

Bizarre news that Jenkinson will go on loan to Stoke. What I thought was a paper story, seems to be gathering pace. If true, surely a worthwhile replacement has been lined up as Sagna's form has been erratic to say the least.

Slick Mick

Believable6 Unbelievable20

Been reading Rumours that the Belgian CB plays right back aswell and we aparently stuck a 8mil bid in. Maybe that's the reason why?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Jenkinson is a legitimate threat to Sagna's starting spot. His crossing is phenomenal (which is what Giroud needs) and his pace is incredible which allows him to track back quickly from an attacking position. No idea why Wenger would want to loan him out.
Also, Sagna has been looking fairly indifferent since his return this year so solid competition for the spot can only serve to motivate him (he's not going to get a big contract elsewhere if he is benched).

~Gunnersaurus's understudy~

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Jan 2013 20:03:24
As crazy as it sound and I write this while watching Sanga fall apart against Liverpool, he wants him ready to play next year as he'll be first choice as Sagna is definitely off. Personally I'd stick Jenko straight in, he's much better than Sanga IMO.
N1Fox

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenkinson should be starting now. Sagna has been way to inconsistent this season. Jenkinson has been excellent whenever he has played and is unlucky not to played more. Sending him out on loan would be a huge mistake.

Agree3 Disagree0

Villa has been listed for tonights game and starts on the bench so he certainly aren't on his way.

Davegooner

Agree1 Disagree0

When people don't even mention a source it makes it so much less believable

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah agreed for Man city.

Agree0 Disagree1

He's on the bench, on his way over my arse, why post rubbish?

Agree1 Disagree0

Is this a joke?

Agree1 Disagree0

Rubbish!! he's in the squad

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't know where you get your info mate villa is on the bench for Barcelona

Agree1 Disagree0

We'll you forgot to tell Barcelona as they stupidly went and included him in their squad for tonight!

Let's be realistic, were not going to sign anyone much to everyone disappointment!

Ps what going on with our defending and keeping tonight!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he going to have his Arsenal medical while sitting on the bench tonight in El Classico

Agree1 Disagree0

He was on the bench but to be fair to the post, (even though I don't believe it) he didn't play all night? Which was quite strange considering his scoring record and barca needed a goal. I think there is no smoke without fire and maybe just maybe his been benched because of a medical but wasn't off the roster as his still technically a barca player. Just playing devils advocate here

Ben gunner

Agree0 Disagree1

As I stated, he didn't play last night, he was on the bench. He has been collected & is having his medical & the lawyers are working on the deal. Will be announced tonight, as the halfwits that made silly comments will learn. I have a source, but cannot divulge it. All I can say is that is was the source that told me years ago that Wenger was coming before we had even heard of him & that Sol Campbell was on his way. There is a second signing, which will be revealed later.

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance for that price.

Agree1 Disagree0

There's no chance of this happening Neil Lennon has said no one will be leaving late on in the window especially not wanyama for 10 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did you get this news from ? We'd all love if we signed him but then that would mean the other rumours of us signing Fellani are false. Do you have any news on Villa ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Where you hearing this then

if it was done they wouldn't wait to announce it. as transfer window closes tomorrow your using it to cover your made up rumour

Agree0 Disagree0

They are not going to sell him. Where they are still in champs League. But I do think they will in summer though
Painter

Agree0 Disagree0

Never Never Never

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop listening to the over hype from celtic supporters.about wanyama he's over hyped and over priced.st mirren showed him up .he plays for a wee pub team in glasgow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama will not leave Celtic in this window as they have a big champions league match, as we all know, and they are still in for 2 more cups in scotland, if he leaves it will be in the summer.

The Dude

Agree0 Disagree0

The "wee pub team in Glasgow" do not need to sell Wanyama (or Hooper) this window, Wanyama's deal expires in summer 2015 and is vital for us in Europe. He won't go less for £12m. The man is a monster with excellent composure and an excellent long range passer of the ball, and to say he is poor based on one game where 11 players didn't turn up is ridiculous, watch the Celtic vs Barca game where Jamie Redknapp said Xavi had the poorest game he could remember due to Wanyama's presence and revise your statement. It's narrow minded people like you who possess the english fans gods gift/arrogant tag up here in Glasgow.

My Girlfriend works for a national newspaper and shes informed me that the rumours going round amoungst the sports journilists is that wenger will step down in the summer and michael laudrup will take over as manager, with michu and vorm being part of the deal also, this is one of the main reasons why the board are holding back any funds to reshape the team. Also laudrup is rumoured to be friends with bergkamp and he may return as assistant manager or on the coaching team

Laudrup has said he will join then, that won't be happening!

Agree0 Disagree0

Brilliant ed007!

Agree0 Disagree0

Brilliant work Ed.

Metal Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally believe Laudrup would be the perfect replacement, exciting new manager with great ideas for modern attack minded football, much like when Arsene arrived in 1997. It would be a new revolution at Arsenal that I think would be the best way of moving forward, and as much as I love Wenger as a manager and for the last 15 years of success. I would welcome this change, Wenger is heroic and I think he could move upstairs and be part of the board. Who knows but in the business sense it could work? Whether Laudrup and Wenger would be in agreement on this I don't know. It could be a great idea and it would make a lack of recent events in the transfer market and the signing up of our best young players a very telling sign of exciting things to come. JR

Agree0 Disagree0

She doesn't work for the Daily Mail per chance?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't believe you have a girlfriend.

Agree2 Disagree0

I can't see Michu Joining Arsenal in the summer as he's just signed a new 4 year contract. As for Wenger stepping down, that might not be such a bad thing as I feel he has taken the club as far he can and it's time for a new direction. Let's see what happens

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if its a national newspaper then it must be credible!

Arsene is not going anywhere!

Agree0 Disagree0

I am going to take that as a sign we are signing bent or someone even worse....

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with poster about getting excited about most of the players mentioned on here and nothing ever comes off so this villa rumour is getting me really excited but don't know if will happen? But what really gets me about this transfer is wenger saying barca don't want to sell but we didn't want to sell fabregas hleb overmars Henry petit but they all went so sort it out arsene and do the deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

If true, £15,000,000 seems a lot of money for a 31 year old. Also, he's in the Barcelona squad tonight

Eds or any1, what's the deal with viktor Fischer from Ajax? He's young, can play wings or up front and he's scoring goals? Sounds like an ideal wenger signing. Doubtful about signing any1 before the window closes but ill be glued 2 tv till then torturing myself. Ps great work...love the site

champagne charlie {Ed001's Note - nothing mate, sorry.}

Believable28 Unbelievable11

No one is coming to us this month wenger and the board have left it far to late this limp board need to be sacked clueless we need board members with hunger to make us great again we have been behind the other top teams for far to long

Agree0 Disagree0

The club are showing a total lack of real ambition and this time it could cost us Champions League qualification. Totally fed up with the situation, oh wait a minute ticket prizes are being frozen for next season, so that's alright then!. Who else thinks that this has been announced to placate us fans knowing that no new players will be arriving? Enough is enough Arsenal!

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I enjoy this site and the consistency with which the ed's monitor/update the posts - I fail to remember a time when an ED (no. irrelevant) has said we will sign someone, and then we actually do it.

Interest is mentioned of course..usually alongside a list of 20 other clubs who are also written down and listed as interested..or our scouting of a player is listed on here by lots of eds which is very helpful for those who are totally out of the loop when it comes to our scouting activity.

Fact is, not one person has come here and revealed transfer info prior to a transfer, your average poster like me, or an ED. So no point asking.

Besides, champagne charlie, you can only be 'very annoyed' with our transfer activity, if you had hope in the first place for transfer activity and I haven't seen any hope in your posts for a few months now. Only negativity and expectations of failure.

Daniel {Ed001's Note - you mean apart from Podolski? We all told you that he was signing months in advance.}

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2013 15:03:03
Don't talk rubbish Daniel. There is plenty of stuff on all the team's sites that the eds have called right. Even if a player doesn't join Arsenal he joins one of the teams they mention. It was through here I found out about Nasri going to City, that is why I came back for more. Personally I trust all the eds on here more than I do on other sites like ******* and *******. Hell I trust them more than S*y, all they want is for you to bet on what they tell you. All the eds do a great job on here and there work is appreciated by most of us. Keep it up eds, thanks for the best site on the net.

{Ed007's Note - Gee, thanks mum.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So how do you know there has not been a bid or an enquiriy made for certain players...who would you have liked to see that would improve or provide depth to the squad...? this is fifa mgr ...in real life transfer negotiations can be edgy affairs and a club must be will ing to sell ...Villa for example would you have been happy if we spend 20 million toget him...because am sure at that price Barca would be Ok with it...am not so sure it is good piece of business...

I am disappointed because aside from striker...the main problems are for a defensive/deeplying midfielder that can impose himself on the game...thats where I would have wanted us to get fellaini/capoue/tiote (if they were available)...and I think the club has lacked ambition in those areas..aside that it is not point gesticulating like its that easy to buy players....

Huge news coming out of Spain.

The same journalist who outed that Valdes will not sign a new contract. has had his say on Villa tonight.

This journalist has his own tv show late night in spain and is very reliable.

He says Villa wants out NOW, Barca are refusing to sell but Villa is putting pressure on them and has told them he will leave in the summer no matter what but he wants out now. He's been convinced that Arsenal is the team he wants after talking with Cazorla and a phone conversation with Wenger. Barca are holding him against his will basically. He believes that no bid has been made 'yet'.

He also stated that from what he is aware that Villa will not start tomorrow.

SO its going to be a long day and it could go down to the wire. very reliable guy he is . he's live in spain from 12am every night. yesterday he was also talking about it. will be interesting what he has to say tomorrow night.

Believable33 Unbelievable30

This deal will not happen....normally if it sounds too good to be true, with Arsenal, it normally is!

Agree1 Disagree0

Hmmmm, as much as I do believe elements of this "after talking with Cazorla and a phone conversation with Wenger" wouldn't that be considered Tapping Up? If I'm wrong, please do correct me.

Agree1 Disagree0

So Wenger gets the arse when his players are tapped up, but it's fine for him to phone David Villa and ask him to come to Arsenal. Bit hypocritcal isn't it?!

Agree2 Disagree0

Villa called Santi and he's spoken to Arteta. That's not tapping up as he did the calling.

As for him not starting he's already been named in Barca's starting XI. So that's an issue.

Agree1 Disagree1

Will anything happen at all ? or will there be no one

Agree0 Disagree0

So your saying arsene has tapped him up?

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget Villa to Arsenal its not happening also Man city are now involved and they throw money away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tapping up would be discussing terms, if people think that's tapping up then what if Wenger sees Diame in his local supermarket haha.

Em The same journalist who has said this, has said he is 90% sure Villa is going to go to Arsenal (whether in jan or summer), its all down to when Barca will leave him go, Villa is fuming with Barca.

I will update tonight again when he talks about it again if he has anymore news.

Hi eds, big fan. Just wondering about the future of Adam Maher of Feyernoord. I know their coach said he would be perfect at Arsenal, so i'm asking whether we have made any enquiries into his availability?

Jacob {Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about him, but it is unlikely he was doing any more than trying to get the lad's name out there to attract a bid from someone.}

Believable3 Unbelievable28

Adam Maher doesn't play for Feyenoord. He plays for AZ Alkmaar and he scored a couple of goals in their 5-0 win over Den Bosch in the Dutch FA Cup last night.

He seems like a talented lad and I'd like to see him at Arsenal. Though, I don't think we're interested in him. His manager at AZ Alkmaar, Gertjan Verbeek, is probably just trying to talk the price up because he also said that other clubs are looking closely at him.

Believable0 Unbelievable24

Arsenal are looking to bring in David Villa/Jovetic/Lopez in that order and Fellani/Wanyama as defensive midfielders. Highly unlikely a playmaker will be brought in this window, in summer when Roaicky, Arshavin leave etc then there will be room and Gotze etc will probably be targets then.
