What do people think of playing Thomas Vermaelen in the CDM role? - He's quick, calm, agressive, has a good pass and my god has he got a shot on him. A defence of Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Cahill/Jags, Traore/Gibbs with a defensive mid of Vermaelen and Frimpong with Wilshere, Fabregas, Mata sitting in front with van Persie upfront seems realistic and mouth-watering at the same time. I know people will say don't move TV5, but i think he'd be simply awesome as the midfield anchor. To use The Night Docotr's phrase: thoughts on a postcard...

Ben

Believable14 Unbelievable12

Kos would be better

Agree0 Disagree0

At this point I would be willing to try either I still think that TV5 is the only true CB we have, who can also cover the left and who is vocal. Without him in defence we really suffered last season.

Kos also has hardly had a chance to settle into a partnership at the back - if we are to move one of these two out to the anchor; sure as hell need to sign a DECENT hit-the-ground-running CB first, otherwise we are just sitting ducks for the first 3 months of the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Second reply on here is spot on--we didn't look shaky at all with Kos in defence but we can't gamble on Djourou again after his dislocation. Squillaci is just poor with any of our other defenders. It's pretty much a given that we need to sign a top CB if we want any cover at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks :) CommonSensei by name an dby nature I hope

Yeah I am tired of saying: Our season faltered because of our defence, not just last season but the last 3 or 4

I'm so tired of seeing stupid mixups that only happen because we haven't got a 'usual suspects' partnership at the back...

With any luck this season - TV and Kos can partner up in the middle, Sagna can do another performance job and our **prays** new LB who is also good in CB can fit right in and perhaps teach the others what a decent cross looks like.

forget Fab and even if Nasri goes, I have faith in Le Prof and in Arsenal FC .... We will be stronger again this season as we always are.

Up the gooners

Agree0 Disagree0

What happend to song???

Agree0 Disagree0

Song is a great player but lacks the pace to be an effective anchor; imagine him doing the Flamini role .... he would be knackered by half time

Lol I think he is actually better centre field and not used as a CDM just because he is the nearest we have.

Watch YouTube of him playing for his country he's awesome just slowww

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been saying this to my arsenal pals for ages. Petit was a centre back when we bought him and he became one of the best midfielders in the world. Tommy in the middle would transform this team remarkably. Although we will need a decent CB to replace him. In the middle and make him or Jack captain. Jack may be young but he's not afraid to speak when he needs to. Unlike cesc who is a bad captain.

{Ed022's Note - IMO I disagree. Jack Wilshere is 19 and in my eyes he will no doubt be a long term Arsenal captain for many years to come. Just not yet! I think it would be wrong to burden him with the captaincy and feel he can bark instructions and play like a captain for a few more years without actually having the armband. My ideal candidate is Thomas Vermaelen. He should lead the team for the next few years and eventually it'll move over to Jack Wilshere.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I like your thinking
But I think Wenger loves Song to be there, which I think he goes forward a little to much for me and thats how we get cought out somtimes as he gives away to many silly freekicks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, u do a good job on here and obviously u have the right to agree or disagree with anyone's opinion, as u did mine about making Jack captain. U made a fair point but how old was Big Tone when he became captain? Surely not much older than Jack, he has some of the same traits as Tony Adams, he gets stuck in where he has to and isn't afraid to berate a fellow team mate if it is warranted. What we've missed since we lost Bug Tone is someone to fire the team up when things aren't going to plan. Do u think we'd have conceded 4 goals to Newcastle if Adams was there? He would've gone mental after the second one went in. We don't have a true leader on the pitch who can gee the team up when they need it. Cesc led by example in terms of his ability but he doesn't inspire players to give every ounce of energy for the cause. Tommy missed last season so we don't really know how vocal he will be and what qualities he has. Arsene does have a habit of giving the arm band to a player who is unhappy or may want to leave I.e. gallas and Cesc. He needs to look at past captains or the best captains around to see what qualities they have and give the arm band to that type of player if they want it. The best captains in the last twenty years have been Tony Adams, Roy Keane and John Terry. All very similar, all would die for the cause. This is what we lack at present. Hopefully Tommy can be that player. Just a thought.

{Ed022's Note - You are right in saying Big Tony Adams was given the captaincy young. I believe he was 21. (Two years older than Wilshere is now.) My point wasn't that Wilshere won't go on to become captain and be a very good leader (which I said he will) My point was the here and now and let us not forget he has had one full season at Arsenal and a loan to Bolton where he played a dozen or so games. I think for the next couple of seasons let Jack be Jack. Let him play his game without distraction or pressure (he's under enough pressure from the media being English!) I would have Tommy V as captain. RVP as vice captain and tell Wilshere he will be groomed to become the future long-term captain...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Calm and Aggresive?
Thats a bit like being Tall but short, you cant be both :L

Lucas Podolski has apparently had talks with a north london club, could be tottenham in search of a striker but i could see it being arsenal who made inquiries after the game against cologne, he was there standout player
and could play anywhere in a attacking-left positon + striker, comments ed?

Believable12 Unbelievable12

There has been few articles in the past hour about that

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO I think he would be a perfect back up to RvP and wouldn't cost to much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok...it could make sense as an alternative to mata ? Hmm...be interesting to see how this develops.

There was a post the other day talking about arsenal signing 2 pl players with international experience, plus 1 overseas inetrnational... it came from arsenal news review and as far as rumours goes the guy seemed pretty convinced.
But hey we're see.
London Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

German players generally prefer to stay in germany but maybe the temptation of champions league football would overshadow that. hopefully this is accurate, i rate him as a player and he will have a very strong, positive head on him which we need. N.I gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesnt podolski play for FC Koln and not Colongne?

{Ed022's Note - Podolski plays for FC Köln who are based in Cologne. They are often called Cologne as well which leads to the confusion.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal review seems to be the same cra@p you see on alot of the internet blog sites.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yh sorry i posted this i just say cologne like i say seville (instead of sevilla) but i think he would be good cover for RVP and has also some experience on the left wing and would be ready for physical football too + no more than 15m and i believe would be a backup to mata

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski would be a poor signing, he can't perform at a big club, Bayen Munich he was a total failure

According to the latest internet reports; JAGIELKA TO ARSENAL WITHIN 2 WEEKS is practically certain now, Everton rumour boards are covered with it - with either Carlos Vela or Bentner going the other direction on loan. He will cost between £15-20M on 4 year deal.

KARIM BENZEMA though quoted as saying nobody has made any contact; has been in negotiations with Arsenal for a few weeks and my hunch is that soon as Barca stump up the £40M it will cost to end Fabregas great suffering (lol); a deal will be concluded.

JUAN MATA though reports suggest is a 'done deal' is in negotiations with several other clubs as well as our own, so I would have thought that this is the least likely deal to be done.

CommonSensei

Believable14 Unbelievable15

I'm hearing Jagielka might not even want to join, can i ask where your sources are from or is this just opinion?
South Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Hello SG

Sources are all on internet - Everton rumours/message boards, Valencia website/message boards (google translated lol barely readable).

I also heard he doesn't want to join but I don't believe it for a second = The two reports I read are from the same source, and disagree with each other so it looks to be untrue

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a really optimistic rumour CommonSensei but I hope it does come good. To be honest I'd love us to sell Nasri to Inter to stop them going for Mata then grab him ourselves. Keeping Cesc would be optimal as long as he actually wants to play for us, but that seems unlikely. Unfortunately. Getting sick of his whinging and he's already sick of us

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have loved Fab to stay with us and captain the side - but we all knew from the off that he was always going to go back. Fair play to the lad stayed here 8 years and didn't complain about our lack of trophies.

Only reason I bothered repeating this rumour, is that I have been saying the whole off-season that we need a LB/CB player to replace Clichy, somebody to replace Nasri when he replaces Fab; and a striker

So now we can safely assume Fab is off, and Nasri is staying on to replace him (which I think we can safely assume); I am quietly confident that Le Prof will indeed buy us .... A good LB/CB and a good striker.

Here is hoping, either that or we risk it all on the kids

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting post Common Sensei, and I hope all of it comes true Jagielka would be great, and of course Benzema would just be incredible. I really hope Mata ends up with us, though, we can't afford to lose him to another club, supporter morale would hit an all time low.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah well lets all stay focused on the club and not so much on the back pages; times are rough but Le Prof is on the case.

Most fans seem dissolusioned but I think we have done well, both in footballing and economic terms. People crave success only because it is what they have grown used to ... But times have changed and The Arsenal changes with them.

Arsenal to remain the same as ever lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I just cant believe were a week away from the new season and nothing has been sorted. were still in the same predicament we were in last season. shockin from wenger and the board

Agree0 Disagree0

Raz - it is not the translation engine that ruins the convertion, it is the dictionary that engine uses.

Spanish is a complex language and has variants such as Basque / Catalan etc.

So because there are too many localisations for the engine to hack, and not enough human workers retranslating newer dictionaries ...

The result is the entire language translates only in Male gender, whereas some words and phrases are only right when feminised.

So ok yeah - I get what you are saying but really I want to talk less about Spanish dictionaries and more about Spanish players :)

just seen an interesting idea on sky sports pages.. partner bartley with TV and play kos as a defensive midfielder.. i for one think it would work.. kos has great passing and is strong in the tackle.. and cool as a cucumber... it'll do for me..

The Night Doctor..

Believable5 Unbelievable12

I have been championing Kos for DM in previous posts. I couldn't agree more. He's quick, good on the ball and is also a lot more canny a tackler than Song. He seems to have the ability to just nick the ball off someone's toe.

Slick Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather another cb to partner tv till bartley matures but the logics sound. worth a try at least.
Belly

Agree0 Disagree0

I nice idea, my only issues are that 1 we need Kyle to develop first and 2 Frimpong's progress would be halted, and 3 we'd lose a good defender. Can Kos shoot? because I have heard Frimpong has a cannon.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you with Kos
I think he would a decent DM.
I would like to see Cahill or Dann with TV5.

03 Aug 2011 22:47:14
Apparently, Jagielka doesn't want to join Arsenal even if a bid is accepted. Turned down by an Everton player, no disrespect but it's not looking good if we can't attract mid to top table players. Hopefully Wenger will get the chequebook out to get Cahill, or an equally good centre back.
South Gooner

Believable18 Unbelievable4

Don't believe all this doesn't want to come rubbish...

Why would a mid table player, on mid table wages, gettign nowhere near the champions league or national team at 28 years old:

NOT want to join a top-4 club historically top2 club, champs league every season without fail bigger wages better team?

Agree0 Disagree0

If he doesnt want to join that just tells you all you need to know about his ambition

Marvin Martin would be a fantastic replacement for cesc cheap and FRENCH barton a CB and mata and with marvelous martin we could win things..what does everyone else think? ed 022?
ed

{Ed022's Note - I reckon we should sign him on his name alone. Its brilliant. Marvellous Marvin Martin for Arsenal...}

Marvin martin is german not french

The way things are going we've got more chance of signing Marvin the Martian.....

my predition for the season
arsenal will start well come january we are in for the title but have a key player injured arsenal need to sign a player but wenger does not then we will have a game with bad luck and sloppy defending and we will collapse and finish 4th like every season

"I have never talked to My Wenger or anyone else."
Quote from SSN from Benzema; why is he calling him MY Wenger :L

He meant Mr as my doesn't begin with a capital M so the journalist has typed it wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2011 22:06:33
Personally i think the mata deal is well and truly off, if something major happens, cesc and nasri leaving, we might go back in for him. Hopefully a Cb or two is the main priority.

Believable9 Unbelievable5

03 Aug 2011 20:57:51
I know we keep hearing the same old rumours. Mata, Samba, Jagielka.

Nothing will happen. We might sign a centre half, wenger wont sell fabregas or nasri because he is too stuborn and would rather make both city and barca wait then take any money. He knows this is his last season and without these two and no certaintys for replacements he wont have a chance

We all need to keep the faith. TV5 will make a difference this year. Szez looks good in goal and gervinho will add extra pace and power.

1 Centre back is all we need but dont expect a superstar

Keep the faith all

Believable10 Unbelievable5

We will sign a top player, look at the pressure wenger is under

I've been keeping the faith for the last 6 seasons, I'm fed up

I am watching our next opponents Benfica away to Trazonspor and they look as though they will be tough opposition for us with some good old pros like Aimar and Saviola. They are 0 - 1 up at the moment after 30 minutes.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

I wrote to soon 1-1 now but Benfica just missed a sitter.

Agree0 Disagree0

The funny this is we have a pre season friendly against them but they could very likely be our champions league qualifying opponent as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

No they cant, they are seeded, get your facts right like us, if you want to see our possible opposition check main web site

{Ed022's Note - I would like to add that although I don't think its possible to meet them in the qualifying rounds they will definitely be up for grabs if both of us reach the group stages (which is very likely) in which case you are both right in your own special way...}

Wenger is waiting to see what will happen with Nasri and Cesc, these situations will come to a head by the weekend.
Then Arsenal will look for replacements.
Nothing will happen until this is resolved, Arsenal will only buy players to replace departing players plus 1 possibly two centre halfs.

Wenger wants to see the total amount of money available.

My hunch like most Arsenal fans is that Mata will come if cesc is sold.

There may well be an agreement in place, Marca is suggesting that if Arsenal come in then the "Situation could change", all depends on Cesc.

What is it with Harry the Twitch, I know his dad was a Gooner and season ticket holder but it's becoming ridiculous. Sloppy seconds is obviously 'how he rolls'.
Hearing that he is now offered deal for Samba (ss news), earlier it was Adebayor and Diarra, last week Mata. Honestly Harry, get your own scouts and stop sniffing after our targets or ex's you sad git You already stuck your beak into the Mata deal last week only for him to turn you down, is that not enough Harry? You are not Arsenal mate and never will be.
Anyway, how much for Defoe? LOL

Believable21 Unbelievable0

He's not got a clue about who or what he needs, he always uses a scatter gun approach to transfers, makes comments on other clubs players then when pressed he just says"don't know where that ones going as daniel levy is dealing with it" priceless

In fact on the radio the other day they were saying that arsenal is the most expensive ground to watch football in the *world* - can you believe it...? wow.

i said on here some weeks ago if anyone thought distin from everton would be a signing that wenger might think of..i was shot down in flames for doin so..:) im not sayin i want to see him signed but wenger mite take him if all else fails...and one phillipe aculair seems to think the same...id imagine that a lot of us gooners wouldnt be to happy bout this or would we....??
jay

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Distin would be a good singing mate. thought so when you said it a few days ago.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

After all the terrible CBs he's signed, I wouldn't be surprised. How hard would it be for Arsenal to get in quality defensive coach to replace Pat Rice and have a better eye for defensive targets than Wenger? Sure, he's picked out some real gems (Sagna, Vermaelen, Toure), but for every gem there have been a couple disasters.

Agree0 Disagree0

ESPN on Saturday Ray Stubbs was talking to Martin Keown about all the transfer speculation surrounding Gary Cahill and Jagielka and he asked Keown who he would go for out of the two and he said he wouldn't go for either of them he would go for Distin, reasons being, a better defender, cheaper and of coarse, French Who are we to argue with Mr Keown when it comes to central defenders?

hI all apologies for daft question but I've never done a fantasy footy league before - just signed up to the daily mail ff league. Anyone in a league I can join?

Also I have a team pin, should I put it on here? Or do I have to create a new league? if so shall we all get involved with Arsenal Rumours League or something? Would be a cool thing to do.

if someone could explain the basics about joining that would be appreciated, thanks all.

{Ed007's Note - Dublin Gooner has said that it wasn't him that posted and I trust him on that without wading through a pile of IP addresses. Let's just draw a line under this, he is more than welcome to keep posting, we have no intention in banning him because he hasn't broken any of the site rules (apart from a wee sweary post to me which is nether here nor there).

Agree0 Disagree0

We could do worse

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The site is not going to turn into a place where everyone who comes in has a go at Dublin Gooner, some of the posts are just downright wrong towards him and I have already banned 4 people through this. At least he had the courage to come on and "face" everyone. I have had my say from an editors viewpoint and as far as I am concerned the matter is finished. Some of the posts were far worse than anything he done "wrong" from people who don't even leave a name, one person posted 5 attacks on him expecting us not to notice. DG you are more than welcome to continue posting but can I suggest you enter a "calling card" in the e-mail field of the form, only editors see that and it lets us verify it is really you (people will probably start posting and signing with your name to try to continue this). If you are man enough to come on and post (and I think you are) then there is no problem from our end.}

Believable2 Unbelievable7

You've managed to go online to post your question. Maybe you can utilise the same skills to find out for yourself. For you, the t-shirt that reads 'Just F@#*in' Google It' couldn't be more appropriate.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can get a cheap seat for usually around 40 pounds ranging as far as 100 pounds. This doesn't include club level which is a lot more. Kids if they are Junior Gunners can get cheap tickets, i remember paying around 15 pounds for category 2 matches. Obviously you need to be a member to get tickets unless they go on general sale.

Agree0 Disagree0

Normal tickets vary between £35 and £53 depending on location. Check www.arsenal.com

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are not a member, the only games that go on general sale are the Carling Cup ties. Tickets for these have been cheap compared to other matches in the past, but I wouldn't be surprised if these are now priced at usual tariff as we need to win something and hence are not likely to play the youngsters as we have for the last 6 years. The top opposition and Spurs games are priced as Category 1 all others as Cat 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends on what category game it is. Anywhere from £35-£100

You may aswell say, "ive never been to see my club in my life and have, on a whim, decided to support Arsenal" if you dont know this nugget of info then maybe you also dont realise that arsenal have a website. Just thought I'd send in a positive spin on things:

We haven't signed Matt Jarvis
We haven't signed Hugo Rodallega
We haven't signed Kevin Doyle

3 players we were linked with who thank the holy man himself have not been brought to our club

Raz

Believable11 Unbelievable5

You joke but its players like this that could make us a better team. its not stars we need its effect premiership players and like it or not these are effective premiership players to be able to shine in a team like wolves is not easily done. also its players like this who actually care for the club and not jump ship on the next big pay day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kevin Doyle is a quality player, better than Chamakh and Vela in my opinion.... But not worth the 15m that was being talked about...

Agree0 Disagree0

Raz not to put you down or anything but im actually working in wolves atm and every wolves fan i know up here have said they expect at least one of doyle or jarvis to be playing in london next season. not claiming 'sources' just what quite a few people have told me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope not Each to their own opinions all. To an extent, point taken about being able to shine at Wolves or Wigan but let me put it another way - Wolves played some very nice very attacking football, however not much came of this and Kevin Doyle missed sitter after sitter after sitter, or nearly got on the end of crosses. Wolves had no trouble putting pressure on any team at all - their problem was they didn't have any strikers who put away chances often enough, so I don't really buy the whole 'shining in a rubbish team' thing, because going forward they were awesome. For me Demba Ba is an example of someone who shines in a rubbish team.

Exactly the same can be said of Wigan, who again played some great football last season and Rodallega, like Doyle, missed chance after chance after chance, game in game out, and for me if we're going to move Bendtner on which a lot of fans have wanted for while, I simply cannot see the point in replacing him with strikers who have a proven record of not converting chances. Both those teams are terrible at defending, but going forward they are fantastic, but those strikers, for me anyway, are all promise and no result. I'd choose Bendtner over Doyle and Rodallega any day... I;d choose Rod over Vela right now but in a season's time I doubt I'll be saying that.

Anyone else think that Forlan would be a great buy? Only 10million or maybe even less and would provide great back-up to RvP or could play alongside him. Thoughts are welcomed.

Believable15 Unbelievable12

Nooo how old is he over 30 easily. also he struggled with united some players are great players just not cut out for the premiership, look at rossi. 10m personally id get DEFOE nice little goal poacher. or give me 10 m im sure id find the net for that kinda money

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea Forlan is world class, as he showed in the world cup.. not out of the question if available for a good price since I believe that Wenger will surprise us all very soon with a signing that nobody saw coming.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope, he cant do it in the EPL.... Like many before him

Im a west ham fan he, 33 never going to happen aw does, nt like 30+ player

I believe we NEED to snap up Joey barton asap.
Yeah he may be a thug but a ta, ented one at that
His on pitch desire is exactly what we need.
Imagine him and Jack in the middle up at Stoke on a cold Sunday, tough tackling and creative.
Something we have missed since Vieira/Petit or Vieira/Gilberto

Moving on, we need to sort the Fabregas saga soon and if Sammy doesn't want to be there then let him go too.
It wont be as bad as many think, we have ot won anything for 6 seasons with Fab etc so a change might be a good thing as long as we re-invest wisely

Gooner 11 for life

Believable15 Unbelievable6

Very sad thath Arsenal fans are so desperate that a whole lot of people would be welcoming Joey Barton.

Agree0 Disagree0

And the rumour you are posting is...

Agree0 Disagree0

Get rid of fabergas and nasri and get mata and hazard complete new life into the team a breathe of fresh air get them both on long term contracts. yeah would cost a bit more but would completely set us up for the future midfield wise and with jack and ramsey coming through would be a defient force. could you image 442 with a midfield of ramsey jack mata and hazard. also on long term contracts we would have all this nasri crap. lets be honest though as much as we dream would never happenm the same as wenger would never bite the bullet and buy cahill or a keep ( although i do rate Szczesny)
ahh well heres to dreaming

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the re-investing that you can't count on. £40m for Cesc, Aw will be rubbing his hands thinking about how many talented 16yo's he can buy with that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one agree with getting barton.he is a class act one of the best EPLmidfielders last season in a poor team albeit took 4 pts off us.he has the steel we have craved since we lost vieria.wenger knows deep down we need that steel back, thats why he bought baptista all them years back.ok he played him up front instead and things didnt pan out but you cant let that stop u from spending again.i would be more upset if wenger didnt spend big on players we need than not spending at all

Enrique is to be signing for Liverpool, although I think in traore we have a more than capable left back. Saw him in the emirates cup and looked more comfortable after his period out on loan.
Bartley looks a beast as well and I think will come good.
Originally I was gutted about so called rumours not materialising, but I don't think our squad is all that bad as some make out.
I think that maybe an out and out goal scorer would make us challengers for the league.
We should all be grateful to le prof as he has stabilised our club and set us up for a good future
Come on you gunners
Essex gooner
Ps I love ed 22s comments on here, he makes my day

Believable12 Unbelievable5

Have to say that i can't agree with you on the traore thought, i personally rate gibbs, but i think we'd do well to get a new lb. Bartley, even though he does look like a monster of a cb, is not going to start for us this season, we need a proper, strong cb with premier league experience that we can rely on game in game out.

Also, why does everyone keep thinking an out and out goalscorer will fix our problems? We need a really good centre back and i think we can win the league. Anyone agree that man united's team last year seem a bit lack luster? They survived by having quality like vidic at the back

Sorry but its the last 13

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you nuts Thank god you do not run the club - we would probably be somewhere in the lower divisions if that is how you think

Agree0 Disagree0

For all AW has done, we need to be honest. His past glories will mean nothing if we dont win our first 3 games. If this happens i will expect all the usual comments .... Hard first 3 games, need time to gel or This is a young squad.
If heaven forbid this happens, i hope AW has the decency to walk away so we can find a manager who will take this club all the way. We are only a few players short of a great team, please AW sign Mata, Cahill and Jags and lets put the champange on ice for winning the EPL in May 2012

Paul B

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul B,

I take it you are joking a bout the Wenger walking if we lose the first 3 matches?

Would you be happy with the first 3 games lost and then going on to win the league?

It seems a lot of people are jumping the gun in my mind, with most of August left for transfers and a league that hasn't even started yet

Just a thought.

Kermit79

Agree0 Disagree0

Kermit79 We have 2 champions lg + 3 tough Premier lg games, we cannot wait untill the end of august.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clearly a overreaction wanting Wenger out after only 3 games, but I can also sympathize with the frustration. After so many years of it being clear what the squad lacks and seeking to fill those gaps with the cheaper option or not at all. We've heard Wenger say year after year that he would be "active" in the transfer market, and often we end up with departing players not adequately replaced and the deadweight in the team not moved on. I'm still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt based on all the glory he has brought the club through the years, but I would love for him to show some more ambition rather than faith in players that have done little to justify it.

How does anybody feel about swapping Adam Johnson + £5 Mill for Sam Nasri.

If he doesnt want to play for us, lets look in to other options.

Believable20 Unbelievable9

Adam Johnson is on eof the best english prospects around and i for one would not mind swapping Nasri for Johnson.

Go for it AW

Paul B

Bollocks. Nasri is twice the player johnson is and if he's so good why would they swap him for an inferior player. Bunch 'o Oompa Loompa's.

I think Adam Johnson+ 10million, i think hes quite cheap but such a talentd player

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love it but cant see city goin for it

Or could he be a player the Arsene is after as part of any Nasri deal, hence the hold up in the Mata affair...ooh....the mind baffles.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank god for that. Can we train him as a keeper? Then we are sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

He could be good in a few yrs but will prob be sold on the cheap next yr

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is panicking?
bossarsenal...

Agree0 Disagree0

Somebody else who knows nothing about the club making a comment Kyle Bartley actually seems like he can make a big impact if he gets some starts, he came on in Sundays game and looked sharp and also a monsterous size def. one for the very near future

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like he could indeed be a great player one day, but all this "one for the future" transfer window after transfer window is getting insufferable. It's almost as if Wenger thinks it would be cheating to sign players currently in their prime.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is of the age to compete for a space hopefully he will get a good squad number and be ready to knock squelchy of his 4th spot, then he will challenge DJ for 3rd which he will win and then he is there as Kis cover and rotation. I wouldnt mind seeing him at Bolton or Norwich this season for loan spell in the big league, AW sent him to Rangers because he is too good to go to championship he needs to get used to big crowds and big pressuer and expectation hense Scotlands biggest club. Congrats Bartley really chuffed you are staying.

Believable11 Unbelievable14

Seriously Mate

Van Persie has scored more goals in 2011 than anyone else (only proper fit since Jan)....

Van Persie:

Scored 18 league goals and 7 assists in the Premiership, last season in 25 games.

Chamakh:

Scored 7 league goals and got 6 assists in the Premiership, last season in 29 games.

Chamakh (i think) went over 20 games last season without scoring in the end.... And complained of being tired in January....He is a good player but he is our new Bendtner unfortunately..

Van Persie aint god and i aint seen one person on this site say this

Confession:

Ok, so I am willing to admit that I fully made up the Sneijder rumour. All I wanted to do was generate a bit of hype and positivity on here because I'm getting fed up of hearing all the pessimistic comments on hear.

Give me as much abuse as you want. I dont care at all. The fact that some of you care so much about what people post on a RUMOUR site is beyond me. Like look at the top of your screen righ now. It reads..ARSENAL RUMOURS.

Apologies if i've offended anyone with my rumours. But seriously, get over yourselves if I have. Arsenal have always conducted their transfer activity in private, and will continue to do so. Not I, nor does anyone who posts on here (including ed's) have any inside information or any sources etc. We're all just writing down our wishlists.

Quit hating the club. You are supposed to be supporters. Support means through thick and thin. If you don't like the way the club is being run, then I suggest you join Gael, Emanuel and Kolo at City.

We have a squad that has challenged in every competition for the past number of years. They are getting older, more experiencd and stronger and I believe that because they will have been together for so long that they will be a major force for years to come. Remember, Arsenal have been incredibly unluck with injuries over the last few seasons in particular.

Give Wenger a chance. He will sign players this window. He will sign the CB that we all covet so much. And he will sign one marquee player. He has said as much himself. Give the man a chance. As things stand we have the same squad as last year plus Gervinho and Jenkinson. Add a couple of players to this and we are sorted.

If Cesc and/or Nasri go..they will be replaced.

This is the last time I will post on this site.

Keep the faith and believe.

Dublin Gooner {Ed007's Note - I beg to differ that us Eds don't have any reliable sources. You have absolutely no idea who any of us are so because you are sitting making things up, doesn't mean we all do. And to come on and post under a different name to justify your own post is very childish IMO. If it is your last post that is completely your prerogative, but you have lost all credibility anyway. As for your golfing days with Liam Brady, that just backs up your Walter Mitty existence.}

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Respect you for at least coming out and admitting you made it up. For people who do get proper angry and offensive over post, they do need to relax. Remember what some one may post ( not this one but others) may be true but the circumstances may change. we may have been in for Benzema but he may of said no i dont want to come, ect. Yeah a good post does get you excited and i too love to read them but remember any Tom person or Harry can post on here. just enjoy the good post and ignore the bad. In the end we all have our own opinions on certain posts, as we know the transfers will come out or fold.

afc171
true gunner for life

Agree0 Disagree0

On the one side Dublin Gooner, I agree with you that Arsenal has too many so called "fans" that claim to support the club through moaning, booing, and complaining, which can actually cause things to change, but ultimately you and me have no control over the runnings of the club. We have faith in our team just as the owners and the players have faith that we will come and show our support by purchasing tickets/ jerseys etc...
Obviously these are tough times for Gunners fans, but this is when our loyalty and faith matter most Imagine how good it will feel to see our boys finally lift a trophy, we must believe that it can happen this season...
This is not to say that the fans are the only ones at fault. The owners too have an obligation to listen to the fans but ultimately they have an obligation to do what is BEST for the club, and I think we will begin to see the long-term plan that our team has put in place for us... It is easy to get carried away sometimes, since words often cannot describe how it feels to see our team underachieve year after year, but when there is a will, there is a way, and I believe we will see improvement this season and in the future. Blessings to all Gooners from the island of Trinidad and Tobago.

Agree0 Disagree0

In a sense the man is right, no one unless working inside the club have knowledge whats going on at arsenal there is probably only 3 people that know whats going on.
I am a journalist and have previously spoke to numerous editors on here about joining the team so i do know many of your sources, you do a good job but dont pretend to be something your not

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes it is a rumour site and that is what some people post...something they have heard about from another 'human being' who may have heard from another person, etc perhaps connected with the club.

Not making a wish list or a fantasy like football manager- sure people do that, but state it's a *wish list* and NOT a rumour. You deliberately mislead people by saying you've heard something- it is not cool at all- a lot of people here love arsenal with a passion, many spend a lot of money supporting arsenal and have invested a lot financially and emotionally and care what happens to the club...I find your frivolousness attitude , 'that it doesn't really matter' rather offensive and your ironic statement that arsenal 'always conduct their transfer activity in private' is laughable if it wasn't so insulting, considering the length's of fulfilling your 'fantasy' you have gone to and to the people who do have genuine sources. The genuine fans here, where supporting arsenal is *real* to them, it isn't a joke and I think you have completely misunderstood that.

It is not the fact the rumours are not correct, it's the fact that you intentionally mislead in the believe that it would cause hype and positivity- NO -signing players in *real life* will do that, not just the' idea' that they will sign...because when it turns out not to be true, it's like a kick in the teeth, so has the opposite effect- that demonstrates to me how disconnected you actually are.

I will give you some credit for coming on here and confessing though - perhaps think about what you're doing in the future. It really wasn't cool at all.

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Regardless of what we may or may not need we will not be signing a goalkeeper (at least not a top quality keeper), Stekelenburg was desperate for Arsenal to make an offer to Ajax but this never happened and if Arsene didn't want one of the best I think it's safe to assume he is happy with Szczesny and Fabianski.

With the imminent arrival of the financial fair play rules, i think it would be pointless to appoint Usmanov as owner. Man City's stint as a ''top 4'' club will come to an end sooner rather than later, due to not being able to spend - their accademy players are awful.

Ben

Believable13 Unbelievable8

I'd love to agree with you, but City are already trying to go around the fair play rules. Remember the stadium naming rights "deal" they just did? It means that they will get extra 40 mil each of the next 10 years, and it will be considered "football related income". Obviously it is a scheme to get funds injected into the club without breaking any of the new rules. If there is no action on behalf of UEFA, next year they will tell us that they have decided to name the goalposts and are getting 200 mil for each of them by some other company close to the owners, as is Etihad Airways. Personally I am gutted, I don't have racial or other prejudice, but this is pure orientalist business making brought into a game that used to be a game of honor..

Agree0 Disagree0

Man s**tty have bent this rule with their new sponsorship deal with Etihad

Agree0 Disagree0

Great point, Ben.

Ty

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but they may have beat the system with that new Grounds deal..

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a point, but as others have stated they and other clubs in a similar position will find a way around it- I'm not convinced that uefa will be running it with an iron fist- we're see, if they do, city will not be the only club affected by this.

Personally, I think these 'sugar daddies' are ruining our game and I hope it will be enforced harshly, with huge points reduction if there is no integrity with up holding the fair play rules.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tell me what youth policy Arsenal have then....yeh thats right they poach everyone elses.....so before you slate someone else's team think about it
(i am not a Man city fan)

Agree0 Disagree0

Despite the fact they have gotten around the rules they have one of the top youth academy's in the EPL and the world so it's irrelevant.

Agree0 Disagree0

To "I'm not a man city fan"
I don't remember Wilshere, Cole, Gibbs, Lansbury, Frimpong, Afobe being poached and most of the 1st team who are not from England were purchased in line with FIFA rules and brought through our Youth system.

Agree0 Disagree0

Uefa will do nothing about it.. how can they.. the ''flagship'' teams of the champs league.. barca real acmilan.. are supported by spanish/italian government..juve are basically the fiat football club, and now that the french side psg are owned by a zillionaire platini will bend backwards to allow them all they can buy...fair play .. no chance.. only way you'll ever have fair play is to cap all of europes players to the same wage.. then they'll play for the clubs and not the bank accounts...

With Cesc on the verge of to a return to BARCA and Nasri wanting out I think we should sell them both and buy... hamsik and mata as replacements, as for the rest of the cash bulk the defense buy signing Cahill and samba then hopefully we can snap up Benzema though it looks unlikely .

Believable11 Unbelievable7

I agree But Im with you on that I don't think have the balls to do a great deal like that

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does everyone keep going on about Samba. He is overrated in my opinion. Who looks good in an awful team but put him in the arsenal lineup and you have another Squillaci. Get Cahill and Dann and if not both then go for one with Jagielka but he is way overpriced at £20 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

This sounds like a brilliant idea mate :D, although maybe not samba

Agree0 Disagree0

To the person who said Samba looks good in an awful team, could the same arguement not be made for Dann and Cahill? Surely Birmingham are more awful than Blackburn since they we're relegated and Blackburn weren't.

StEvE

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the birmingham comment however Dann is young and will improve and Samba will never get any better. With regard to Cahill Bolton finished top half of the table and in my opinion under Owen Coyle they are a good top 10 side far better than anything Steve Keen will put together. Thus Dann for back up and Cahill for starting 11

Am i the only one that see's what arsene is doing this transfer window, he has bought between 5-6 of what are believed to be the best 15 or 16 yr olds in europe because when the new money rules come in next yr buying up young (cheap) talent will become hotter than ever. This is a very smart move, the long term future of this club is fantastic now lets win the cups ps, v persie 4 captian. please post as i wanna see how many real arsenal fans are out out there, click believe if u want wenger to stay this season.

Believable26 Unbelievable11

Who are the 5-6 teenagers we have signed? and where from? just wondring

Agree0 Disagree0

He has been buying kids for 10 years

It has failed

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger has clearly stated on the official Arsenal site that he will make one, possibly two signings, so dont expect any more. I believe the definite is a CB & the possible is a midfield player when Fabregas &/or Nasri are sold. The only reasons they wont be sold is if Barcelona dont agree a fee with Arsenal or if Nasri signs an extension. Dont think for one moment that Wenger will willingly let Nasri run down his contract & cost Arsenal £20+ million.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is all about money now with Arsenal. I think that the club know that we can not compete with either of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea so why spend big? If they continue to invest in youth and then sell the developed player then that will keep the banks and the board happy. Let's be honest there is a waiting list for season tickets so do the club care if 12,000 have not renewed - no they don't. This will be another trophyless season and we have to face facts - we are in decline

Agree0 Disagree0

Although its not 5 or 6 players, i do see what you mean. It would be smart if he was doing that, but the reason why buys young talent isn't because of the ffp rule coming in, the reason why he buys alot of cheap young players is because he's a cheap b******, a very smart one at that though. He doesnt want to spend 20 mil + on a player, thats why he buys cheap young talent. Although i beleive buying young is great for our future, i think we should do that once our present is sorted out.
Nick

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should push 40 million for both and invest in defence

Agree0 Disagree0

0ut 0f the am0unt 0f young players that wenger BOUGHT IN we only have about 3 or 4 that will get in the starting line up in our team now IM0 his strategy hasnt really worked to well and he ends up just loaning them out and on loan the dont get played or just get released like mark randall, thomas cruise (who played 1 first team game and showesd a lot of potential ) the only 15 year old signing that worked was cesc fabregas and he doesent even want to play for arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

From what I have read and seen, Barca will offer 35 million plus various clauses (I'm guessing games played so they'll never have to pay it), Mata will be signed as a replacement, pushing Nasri into the centre. If Nasri then leaves, Wenger will try and buy Hazard to become the focal point of our attack (could work, especially having played with Gervinho).

Phil Jagielka is the subject of talks with Everton, but the two clubs are a little way off on their valuations, I reckon 15-17 will be the final price.

Finally, on the other rumour site, someone posted that Emiliano Izzaguirre will sign for us for 11 million, but I don't see it myself. Also rumours of a bid for Craig Bellamy, which I highly doubt because he's 32 and Wenger wouldn't be willing to fork out the wages he's being paid at City.

Ed- Any of the above bar Mata and Hazard you'd like to see arrive before August 31st?

{Ed022's Note - My ideal summer transfers (aside from CJ and Gerv) would be Baines, Jags, Mata, Lukaku. What I see happening is Scott Dann and Joey Barton... Excuse me whilst I sit in the corner crying...}

I have always thought this mainly just to see that beautiful dance when he scores :P but yeah bendther plus 5 mill would be a done deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to disagree here, doesn't look like Arsenal quality to me. I think if Bendtner actually got a chance at a club playing him as a true CF week in/out he'd prove he's quite a bit better than Gyan. Of course, he's done nothing to prove he deserves that chance with us ahead of Van Persie, Chamakh or Gervinho.

Arsenal are now completely out the picture for Jose Enrique...Arsene didnt want him anyway because he believes Gibbs or Traore are good enough.
Ive heard that Arsenal are in for a £29million double Valencia star deal. One obviously being Juan Mata and the second being Hedwiges Maduro. Truthfully i dont see this happening because Arsene is stalling with the deals of Mata and Jagielka.
Arsenal also back in the race to sign Joel Campbell and Joey Barton. I dont think signing Joey Barton on a free would be too bad. It wouldnt be the best of signings but he played quite well last season. If Arsene got him on the right tracks and not make him such a 'bad boy' he would be a decent player. As long as he doesnt make Jak Wilshere the 'bad boy'.
And Lazio will not sell Mauro Zarate for under bugget.

Man City plan a £22million bid for Samir Nasri within the next two days and Man United plan a £20million bid for him.
Stoke are now about to put in a £9million bid for our Danish striker Nicklas Bendter.
And Barcelona to put a bid worth around £35-£37million plus a £5million player add on to lure Fabregas away from the Emirates.

Lastly what does IMO mean? :/

Hopefull Gunner

Hi ed. Great site. Love getting my daily transfer updates on here. Im on holiday here in Milan at the moment. Stories all over the papers is that two English clubs have made bids for Wesley Sneijder. Presume one is the manks. Any idea who the other is? Remember reading something on here yesterday about arsenal being linked but find it way too hard to believe. Any thoughts? Keep up the good work.

{Ed022's Note - I would suspect Man Utd and Man City have bid if any. I wouldn't hold my breath on Arsenal bidding otherwise i'd turn as blue as the Arsenal away shirt.}

Believable13 Unbelievable3

Ive also heard from various people that Arsenal have made an enquiry.

{Ed022's Note - Enquiring is one thing. Bidding millions under an asking price is another. Matching an asking price, offering acceptable wages and beating both Manchester clubs to his signing...now that I would love to see. Sadly, for me, it won't happen. Just my thoughts!}

The problem with Arsenal in the transfer market is the clubs attitude, rather than paying the going rate we seem to insist on getting a bargain. I can understand this when someone is clearly overvalued by there own club like the lad at southampton but surely getting the player you actually want i.e Jags and Mata by paying the going rate is far better for the clubs stature, standing and future.

Believable28 Unbelievable2

I agree, If we have a transfer fund we should just pay the going rate for players who will add the need quality to our squad and stop low balling for every player.
IMO, theres's a lot of clubs out there who are aware of our tactics of picking up rough gems or grabing a bargain. Just get annoyed with all the low balling offers for good players and not willing to add two or three million to close the deal.
A change in our transfer policy would great, so we can secure the players that have been identified by Arsene.

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you define the going rate for a player then, by what division they are in, by the size of the club, Saints do not need to sell him on the cheap we rate him at 10/12 million...the simple fact is if you want put the money on the table...simples

PS He is a better prospect than Walcott and what did you pay for him.....uh 10 mill

Agree0 Disagree0

Simples of Southampton, that's a good name for you. Keep Chamberlain it is much better for us to buy a provan experienced player who won the French championship last season scoring 28 goals in 67 appearances and costing just 10.5 mill. The going rate for Chamberlain is somewhere around the 6 mill mark with performance related add ons.

reports from Emirates, arsenal going to sign riqulme for 4 million. he is the direct replacement of Fabregas and also Barton (free) and parker (loan) on friday. either dann or samba after the benfica game. nasri will stay and sign a new contract. No mata, cahill and Strikers. only possible striker is Campbell... watch this

Riquelme is 33 therefore is very unlikely Arsenal will sign him.

Trying to avoid this site because its too depressing, fans booing at a mere friendly game makes me worry about how fans will react to Arsenal dropping points in the league, especially with the tough start we have. Im not saying its not justified, Im just trying to count down the days. Ive always been the patient type.
In my mind the deadline has got to be the Benfica game for ins or outs surely? Especially with the way we operate nowadays.
However there's so many scenarios that could play out over the next month so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Wenger might well see it as 28 days left in the window, im not sure..
All I know is if we do not sign 1 or 2 more player and our results suffer as a result than Wenger's position will be under intense threat.
Eman.

{Ed022's Note - I would just like to add that unfortunately this rumours page does have people moaning, ranting, airing thier frustrations etc... I have done all of the above on here too! This is a place where anyone can share their views with other supporters. Of course there will be agreements and disagreements. Thats life. We aren't all going to agree. How boring would life be if we did? As an Arsenal fan for over twenty years I have seen highs and lows. I would say that this is a frustrating time to be an Arsenal fan but remember that no one should be picked out, moaned at and pilliged for airing a view no matter what they are saying. It's their view. If this site is too depressing then there's the door. No-one is forcing you to be here. This is real, this is Arsenal rumours...}

Believable7 Unbelievable7

Inspiring, ed, if corny {Ed022's Note - You should have stop after Ed...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Woah ed, I never said people should stop or anything like that, all I said was the site makes me even more worried. This is a frustating time. I even went on to describe my own personal deadline. If by the Benfica game we havent signed a player I would join in with the frustations. I meant Im avoiding it, till we sign the players we need, then all will be well.
I just recognise that in transfer windows going on these sites adds to the overall anxiety and people start to panic eg booing at a friendly game. You really read my post wrong, In fact you said I should leave just for posting an opinion? That was totally un-warranted.
Eman.

{Ed022's Note - That wasn't aimed at specifically at you! That was a general for the bitching and bullying that has been going on recently. Apologies if you assumed that was aimed solely at you. Could have been worded differently. The point was there though...}

This Is Real This Is Arsenal Rumours. Ed022 Your Jokess Lool

Agree0 Disagree0

Morning ed, i think i am 1 of the posters that the above conversation is about i would like to put my side across to every 1
1-i know i can be a bit forward with my straight talking opinions and if it upsets any one its not meant to
2-for 6 years i have kept quiet about are transfer policy but after last year i am fuming we were 1 cb away from winning the pl and we would not spend.
getting back to the banter
3-if i feel a post is good or bad i have right to voice my views as posters should voice theirs views on mine
4-i feel that people that do not sign there names at the end of a post have no confidence in what they written, i just feel its sneaky thats my opinion
5-if you buy a car and your not happy with it do you keep quiet about it or do you voice an opinion, people that jeered at the emirates on sunday were not happy with the board over lack of transfers not the games, i bought my tickets a long time ago expecting new faces to be paraded i know we have 2 new lads at the club but i was expecting a lot more than that and yet again we have all been let down, how much extra money would the club have made if we had signed a class player like mata and brought him to asia with team.
6-i dont pretend i love arsenal any more than the next fan but as a season ticket holder and have been for over 30 years i have seen the club rise under wenger and then the last 6 years except for the stadium stall and i dont understand why in the history books this team will be known as the nearly team and if any fan is happy with that i will question there love for the club.
7-now to the business and the money side to the club.
last year we made 56 million after paying all our bills we sold land for 25 million we have the biggest land portfolio in the country and i am proud of this fact but the club are only in this position because of the fans paying there hard earned money.
8-we have less than 2 weeks to the start of the season and it has to be now or never in the transfer market.can any 1 put there hand on there heart and say we were not lucky 3 out of the last 4 years to qualify for the cl.my gut feeling the club will spend over 70 million on players this window but once again we the fans are at each other throats due to the way the club keeps us in the dark.
we are 125 years old and i am so proud of that but this season we should be celebrating this with a team that can win cups not a board counting the coffers in the bank.
this season is the most important in the clubs history if we fall this season its going to be so hard to recover
to all the people i have offended with my abruptness apologies, but i am not sorry about my views i will stand by them
mark wexford

Agree0 Disagree0

I think personally.that fans have a right to moan, the problems we had the last 3 seasons are 100% evident to everyone, apart from Wenger, we have a good attack, and yes that includes Bendtner, who plays out of position, our defensive qualities are a different story, so what does Wenger do , bid for more attackers, when he should buy a quality central defender, and a quality defensive midfield, but Ive a feeling he will not buy anyone else, these players should have been bought already.not differed on price. now I don't think there's too much wrong with our team a few quality players will correct, Mata, Baines, Cahill/Samba/Jagielka, Parker and even Barton, SELL Fabregas, Nasri, Almunia, Chamack ?, what we get from them will more than balance the books, and trophy's will come, Dither on price and keeping faith in certain players and we will not get 4th place. And what gets me, according to Mata s dad, we bid for him, and was turned down, was that after hes contract changed ? andy

Agree0 Disagree0

I for got to say on my above post that even though i do not agree with some posts on here i do have respect for the lads like eman, night doc, yeti and kermit etc at least you dont see them posting stupid rumours like dublin gooner and the rest who just turn to the back page of a rag and read a column and then post it on here.

talksport. enrique looks to be heading to liverpool, wtf is going on?

{Ed022's Note - Wenger will not sign him. He doesn't want him. He's the boss and he rates Traore and Gibbs. Don't worry about it. Its not like Gibbs is injury prone and Traore is patchy at best...This will never come back to haunt us...}

Believable22 Unbelievable1

True i think Gibbs can be the next big thing...oh wait was clichy the next big thing? ah well...the next next big thing.

{Ed022's Note - Don't get me wrong. I think Gibbs has the potential to be a good player. I even think he could become a very good left back (I know he was/is a winger) but I think Wenger sees him at LB. I just think that we needed an experienced left back to take some of the heat off Gibbs. I also don't think Enrique was the answer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw this last night - £5m to Liverpool. If this does go through then I despair. £5m is peanuts for such a player.

Gibbs is far too injury prone to be reliable and Traore isn't experienced/good enough.

Just received very exciting news from a fairly reliable source..

Arsenal will only make 2 more signings.
Mata - 20M
Cahill - 15m

Fabregas and Nasri will NOT leave this season.
Eboue, Bendtner and Almunia, poss Squillacci will leave.

Starting XI
------SzCz
Sagna Cahill Verm Gibbs
-------Song
-Fabregas Wilshere
Nasri RVP Mata

subs: Fabi, Jenks, Kos, DJ, traore, Frimpong, Ramsey, Diaby, Walcott, Gervinho, Vela, Chamack, Afobe

C&N

Believable6 Unbelievable18

If your source is accurate , and I really hope it is, then this is very good news.

What would be even better news you may ask ? If we took either Parker ( on loan ) or even Barton ( I know he's not the nicest of guys ) as well. These would be for free apart from the wages, and would rpovide cover for Song.

Then we would be really set up well.

Agree0 Disagree0

This would be a great first team This XI would win the title and have great run in the champions league. I would add Bartley, Lansbury & Coquelin to the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its amazing that just 2 signings could turn this team into a Championship winning side. I really hope this happens. Excellent squad

Agree0 Disagree0

I honesty I'd take Nari out of the team and put Gervinho in. Nasri may possess all this talent but he genuinely has not shown it once since christmas. He has been inert in pre-season and he slows the game down. Gervinho up front then yes. RVP on the right, coming in on his left, Gerv on the left doing the opposite, Mata in the middle. Swear to God AW should let the fans manage the team for a bit, we would WIN

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a excellent line up...if only.......

Never going to happen fabregas is already gone...

I dont like this whole "if" we keep fab thing. Yes a great player but IF we keep him this will all happen again in Jan and then again in the Summer next year but by then we wont have the chance to replace with the likes of Mata and i know we wont buy him but Hazard as they will be either out of our price range or sold to another club. Sell him and replace now

Believable12 Unbelievable2

There'll always be other up and coming quality players like hazard but there's only one cecs fabregas and I for one would keep him for ever if possible over any other midfielder out there, he has kept us where we are the last few years without him in the past seasons we might not have seen champions league every year

Agree0 Disagree0

I want him to go. ...and we will remember him as the only captain that doesn't win anything in arsenal shirt He's class, but we need him every week, not every four weeks.

Reports from inside the Emirates is that Arsene is trying to get some deals wrapped up by friday before they fly to Portugal, Barton's agent is due in London late Wednesday afternoon, also progressive talks with Everton over Jagielka and Birmingham over Dann ongoing,
Cahill looks set to see out his contract at Bolton and will sign on a free transfer next summer after admitting Arsenal is his prefered choice.
Also talks ongoing with Brugges about signing young midfielder Maxime Lestienne for about £5million
And the wrong Hazard brother keeps being mentioned as Eden's younger brother Thorgan who plays for Lens is being seriously thought as being a better prospect
As far as Mata deal goes it all depends on the Fab and Nasri situation but Arsene hopeful it will be wrapped up by transfer deadline day

From a Very Reliable Source:
If Cesc's new Barcelona bid is not accepted today, he will remain one more year at AFC and Nasri will be sold to AC Milan for around 20 mill, if it is accepted, Nasri will remain at the club and play at the CM position he covets, and either way Mata will be brought in as a replacement for an already agreed fee of around 17-20 mill.
Jagielka or Samba will be bought by next week, which ever comes cheaper, and they will push for a bargain buy of Cahill in January, considering he would leave for free next summer, or wait until he runs out his contract and get him for free.
Joel Campbell is already an AFC player and will be anounced after the Costa Rica NT end its participation in he U20 WC.
A new ST is unlikely unless they find a suitable cheap replacement for the Great Dane if he is sold.

hi, iv been told that arsenal will look to complete a deal for mata and jagielka by fri i.e. fabregas deadline. fabregas is beilieved to be sold for around 38 mil plus ad ons. nasri's situation will depend on hazards availability, who wenger sees as the perfect and ideal replacement. wenger has good connections with lille and wants to keep it that way, so therefore he will begin talks with them and then only make an offer if they are willing to sell. it is believed they are willing to sell for 30mil euros. arsenal will also look to complete a deal for joel campbell who is now willing to talk to arsenal after the completion of the u20 world cup.
Upcoming Ins:
mata-18mil
jagielka-15mil
