Mexican reporters claim that during the recent CONCACAF Gold Cup, Arsenal Scouts were inquiring for US Forward Landon Donovan and are now in the Copa America in Argentina finishing details on Ricky Alvarez and Inquiring for Ecuador Forward Christian Benitez (who plays in Mexico).

In another note, I'd be 100% ok in Getting Mascherano + 20-25 mil for Cesc...

edd what formation do you think we will play? also i remember when diaby played second striker a couple season ago and he was excelent i think wenger shud change his position because he aint playing well

Believable4 Unbelievable10

That's the only time Diaby looked good. I've been saying the same thing ever since then. I'd prefer to see him sold, but if he stays, he should be moved forward.

edd what do you think about tiote from newcastle i think he wud be a great addition.

{Ed022's Note - Tiote signed a 5year deal in January but this was seen as a wage increase for good form but more importantly, due to clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea sniffing around, a way of bumping up his transfer value. I think he's had a season of PL experience where he has done pretty well. As for being a great addition, he is the TYPE of player we are lacking, whether he is THE player we need is up for debate. For me, I think he'd be a good addition.}

any news on jan vertongen?

{Ed022's Note - Arsene Wenger definitely likes the player and has been asked TV5 to convince him to come to Arsenal. There are rumours that Vertonghen will be available for transfer this summer and given that he will be cheaper than £15m he may well be a viable option. Personally I think he would form a formidable partnership with his friend and countryman Vermaelen.}

edd will berley be loaned out? hes quite a big lad with a pysical presence he can play rb aswel and could be good compention for sagna. also if he wernt injured wud he have been in the england u-21 {Ed022's Note - Im guessing you mean BARTLEY who spent some time last season on loan at Rangers. Bartley is surplus to requirements at the moment and Rangers are keen to take him on loan again.}

edd so it looks like clichy is moving on. do you think traore or gibbs will take his place. and any news pedro botelho is he any good and will he get his work permit

{Ed022's Note - I personally don't think Gibbs is completely ready yet. Definitely got some potential but not ready for week in week out. As for Troare, he seems to have fallen out of favour with AW and I expect him to be sold/loaned out again. With regards to Pedro Botelho, he has been on loan for the last three seasons at Celta Viga, Salamanca and some Spanish second division team. I think this means he will know gain an EU work permit. I don't think he is ready for premier league football yet.}

hey edd Hector Bellerin claims arsenal offered him first team football. he can play wide and up front do you think wenger will start him? maybe replace nasri wouldnt put it past wenger

{Ed022's Note - Being aged 16 I would say the only "first team" football will be the carling cup early rounds. I think your quote is a statement that Bellerin thought he would get more first team football in the next few years with Arsenal rather than Barcelona. This season he will be no more than a youth player used in occasional cup matches.}

Believable10 Unbelievable2

He will be first team.

if we sign a few top class players could nasri and fab be persuaded to stay

{Ed022's Note - Thats what I thought would happen. Lets hope Wenger pulls out some Aces and the at least one of the two stay on.}

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Hi Ed, as Nasri is not back until thursday according to some press reports it will probably be a face to face with AW that Nasri has and then he will either be persuaded or he will reject the new contract. So i think we will all have to wait a bit longer.
KJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would top class player come to use when are best players are leaveing?

He was given a few extra days due to the France internationals.

edd if cesc and nasri leave do you think wenger mite consider playing rvp more as a midfielder due to his creativity and play walcott and gervinhio up top. {Ed022's Note - Thats a new and refreshing positional change. I like your "outside the box" thinking. We need more of that on here.}

Its time everyone stopped with the Gervinho, cahill, etc rumours. These are well known so wait and see when there officially announced or not as the cases maybe.

On Nasri and others saying they need to leave Arsenal to win things thats a joke try putting more effort in after Xmas and we would have won. Nasri wants to win the Ballon D'or but cant break down WBA, Sunderland, Boltons, Newcastles defences, do me a favour. He has undoubted talent but am tarting to question his drive and personality.

On the transfer front i like all of you would love to see some new signings asap but with the crazy prices being asked for at the moment, i dont blame Wenger for holding off. I for one would of been gutted if we had paid 20M for Henderson or god forbid 30M Carroll. This will be the last crazy summer for transfer prices with the new rules coming in. We want quality and proven experience but why pay 20M for 10M player, its stupid. Barca will have to sell at least one superstar each year from next summer to balance the books. They wont remain at the top after that.

Trust in Wenger after he brought in the Invicibles and all the modern players we have loved. Give him till mid August before you judge he might just pull out a superstar at bargain price as teams get desperate.

Paul

P.s. Still dreaming about Amy Williams from Top Gear last week. Oh and Haye was a Joke

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Paul totally agree about Nasri and all these players that want to win something. Nasri went missing in the away games at united and chelsea and could do no better vs sunderland, newcastle and bolton away when he missed a sitter at 1-1. If he leaves he will have a big shock, cesc will go but again will be a bench warmer for at least 1 season and if he does not deliver will be cast out like a rag doll when the next big creative mf comes along elsewhere. clichy going is a godsend, not a loss at all his is a total liability city and welcome to him they will be in the market for another left back in 12 months (bridge, kolarov, clichy etc).

let's hope a couple of signings come in - gervinho and cahill. not bothered about alvarez and feel he may struggle to adapt to prem esp as he is not an international. apart from that we do need 1 other CB, a def mid to compete w song + provide cover for ACN. Depending on nasri someone like mata or hazard would be good and another real striker in the hope we offload bendtner.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair, Nasri may have said that he wants to win trophies but he did NOT say that he feels he needs to leave Arsenal to do so. The News Of The World published the comments out of context.

My belief is that within a few days this whole saga will blow over and Nasri will sign on for a few more years.

Fabregas may well end up leaving this summer but all these 'Arsenal Exodus' stories are utter nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barca dont realy need to buy or sell there youth system is the best in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2011 21:31:59
edd how much do u think cesc will go for?

{Ed022's Note - If Barcelona had their way, five euros and a slice of paella. Arsenal will hold out for £40-£45m. I reckon if Barca break the £40m barrier with their bid it will be accepted.}

Ed is there any truth about ribery he would be a great signing but i cant see and any other news on arsenal?

Believable11 Unbelievable4

03 Jul 2011 20:39:25
Arsene Wenger has a lot on his mind. However, the press are exploiting some loop holes to sell papers with a lot of nonsense.

Fagregas will be sold eventually to Bracelona but if the Price is too low., then NO until next year. FACT

Nasri WILL STAY if Arsenal buy quality players. He has made this clear many times recently. FACT.

No one knows what Wenger's targets are so we have to wait Gazidis has promised new signings....see AST meeting last month. FACT.

Based on the limited facts Arsenal to buy :

1. CD Cahill is done deal. Awaiting final contracts being drawn up.
2. Attack Depending on Fabregas factor, it could be Arteta/Mata/Benzema

FACT : We will not sign Ribery, Parker, Barton, Vieira. Wenger has said so during the last few months.

Keep the faith Gooners

Believable16 Unbelievable4

"FACT" ?

Fabregas will only transfer to Barcelona, which lowers his market value. Nasri said he wants to win trophies - clearly after this season Arsenal can't do this. How would selling Fabregas (which looks relatively likely this season) help Arsenal win anything?

You're full of crap - FACT

None of your so called facts are facts. FACT

Nasri is close to signing a new long term contract, the fine details will be worked out by next weekend after the likely announcement of a new signing on Tuesday.
As I mentioned earlier the signing will 99% be Gervinho but I now understand that we are in progressive talks with Everton over Jagielka.

Ben

Very few people on this site know about football. Any old person can say Fabregas is going or call for Almunia, Squillaci.....to be sold. I know my stuff (and not from FIFA11) I play football and I have been scouted by Crewe Alexandra (no lie). So a little scroat like you can't tell people you don't know about wether they "know football" or not.

Anyway, were not going to sign Kaka or Ribery as they would cost £25m+. We may sign Hazard or Mata. Fabregas won't go unless Barca cough up £45m it's what he is worth and they are gonna have to pay it or offer a player like pedro, Milito or Mascherano + £30m. Gervinhio would be good but no better than Malouda, Nani or Suarez. Cahill, Jagielka, Samba, Vertonghen.... I don't care as long as we get 2. VDW would also be a great signing along with Benzema, Given, Diego and Taraabt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont make me laugh you may have been scouted by crewe but it doesnt mean you know about rumours and transfer gossip. You are lying i bet you play fifa 11 all the time on manager mode with arsenal. i play for nottingham forest btw so suck out

Agree0 Disagree0

If u talking bout Suarez of Liverpool then not sure you know ya stuff, he is excellant player. {Ed009's Note - congratulations for not being biased mate!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you have to be so rude and arrogant and take a lesson or three in English.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol you're a joke mate, just because you've been scouted it doesn't mean you know more about it than somebody else

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha Ha, you were scouted by Crewe but you didn't sign for them then? Why would we sign Taraabt? A bloke who couldn't break into the Spurs team and had a good season in the Championship Guys in February we were still alive in Four competitions we are not a million miles away, just a couple of additions and a bit of luck with injuries through the season and we will still be fighting on all fronts come May, lets stay together and stay positive Oooh to Oooh to be Oooh to be a......GOONER

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats u bein scouted got 2 do with anything, because u play the sport dosrnt mean you know anything about.... And let's be honest your boasting about being scouted for crew :/.... I think it's safe to say you won't be the next messi. IDIOT

Ed, if Fabregas and Nasri goes, what would be the chances of us going for schweinsteiger. and how much would he cost?

Matt. {Ed002's Note - Very slim I would have thought, and very expensive. Sissoko of Toulouse working beside Wilshere might be neat - but Liverpool are after him as well.}

admittedly I dont have a source to say what is going to happen but if Nasri and Fabregas left knowing that Kaka is available and Wenger has always liked Ribery if we could bring in both as replacements then that would really make Arsenal fans begin to believe again and show a real statement of intent

The name is kevin.....the same person who told me j t was having it off with bridges girlfriend before it hit the papers....was told sol campbell was signing weeks before it hit happend...there was no press speculation....i wouldnt put it on hear for the sake of it.....but this bloke said 100% when he says that he means it.....he said Ribery and CAHILL deal done, i sure hope so dont see the point of ball s**t...all this i see in a hotel and outside the stadium crap aint for me ...time will tell, and the papers aint mentioned Ribery so well see.

Agree0 Disagree0

There were whispers on Twitter a couple of weeks ago that we were interested in Ribery. Bayern Munich want to sell him to reduce their wage bill but he would have to take quite a hefty pay cut to join Arsenal. Could possibly happen but I'm dubious.

Agree0 Disagree0

Proof? Honestly Can't See It.. Besides I'd Rather Keep Nasri, However If Nasri Stayed AND We Signed Ribery I Wouldn't Complain. Ed022 - Have You Heard Anything Of This Supposed Done Deal? {Ed022's Note - I have commented on another post, I just cant see this one happening. Wages and fee are just too high for Wenger.}

Ed are arsenal still in the run to capture samba or cahill ? {Ed009's Note - there is still interest in both players. Comparatively Blackburn will be desperate to hold onto Samba after Jones' exit.}

KJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Let me guess, all to be confirmed in 48 hours

Agree0 Disagree0

I DUNT BELIEF YOU AND I CAN USE CAPITALS AND SUMTIMES SPELL CORECT TOO.
And anyway, even if it is true, they are hardly signings to quicken the pulse and make up for Fabregas and Nasri if they both leave? We need someone with some clout, not some more who MAY prove to be quite good, one day (Cahil aside, but even he cannot be considered to be "the answer"). If Arsenal are not to lag even further behind we need to pluck a Falcao away from Chelsea's hands, a Benzema from RM, a Goetze, a Hazard, or Vertonghen. My mate's a Sunderland supporter and he's far more excited than I am as they nabbed Wickham. Why couldn't/didn't we?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard is not for sale thats why they are willing to sell other players, wickham is a lot of money for a prospect, Walcott is a simular player who has failed to live up to the hype....and looking at the two games against Ipswich i didnt see anything special, Wenger will buy more experience this time around.Cesc will go to barca, nasri will leave aswell and submit a transfer request this week, its not about how much you spend but how well you spend.....wright philips 22m done nothing, veron to man utd 26m did nothing, sevkenko to chelsea 30.4m did nothing, robinho to man city 34m did nothing.....in arsene we trust

Heard that Madrid are willing to let Kaka and Benzema leave
why doesnt wenger just buy them both along with Alvarez, Gervinho, Cahill, Samba, Chamberlain and Gordon

Gordon

Sagna Cahill Samba Vermelean

Alvarez Kaka Wilshere

Gervinho Benzema Van Persie

Sub: Sczencey, Arshavin, Djourou, Walcott, Chamberlain, Chamakh, Kosiclney

Believable11 Unbelievable20

Might be an idea to have a DM somewhere in the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm. a few problems with your thoughts. One Arsene rightly doesn't just spend for spending sake. Two the cosy of your signings would be around 130m - now I know we stand to get a bit in for Cesc and Nasri but I think you are being slightly optimistic Third why would Kaka come to Arsenal (face facts if ever came to England it would only be to City or Chelsea). Fourth Gordon over Szczeny - hmm I think not. Finally a net 70m spend and the side looks unbalanced and not much better than the current side. Hey so you're right why not commit suicide?

Agree0 Disagree0

You wouldn't even put song on the bench? That's ridiculous

Agree0 Disagree0

Omg u rely think arsenal will get kaka wengers a cheap ass who wont buy anyone more than like 10m

AW looking at Uzbekistan captain Odil Ahmedov, it has been claimed. never heard of him before but this rumour first hit the fan back in june...(although i wasn't aware of it myself) anyway looked him up on the net and youtube show him scoring a goal that leaves his boot like a rocket..but what does that prove.. anyway he'd soon be trained not to shoot unless the ball was under 2 yds from the goal...looks typical wenger though.. finding a player that no ones heard of, none of the big teams want and that will fit in well with the rest of the mediocrity on the arsenal bench..on wages that could probably buy his own country

real madrid have got an agreement to sign fabregras for 43m if barca are stalling. have this on record from a source in real.
---------------------------------------------------
You are a arsenal fan mate, you should know where fabregas wants to go. Arsenal will probarbly agree to a deal worth £43 million, but thats only part 1 of the deal. The 2nd part is the player has to agree to the move and there is NO chance of fabregas joining Real Madrid. It's Barca or Arsenal regardless of money so there can't be a deal in place because fabregas would reject it. What you are saying is arsenal and real madrid have agreed a fee but i highly doubt that is the case. Expect Fabregas to join Barcelona in the next week or 2 NOT real madrid

Jose Enrique from Newcastle looks like he could be Clichy's replacement. {Ed002's Note - I suspect a struggle with Liverpool then. Is Gibbs not up to it then?}

Believable17 Unbelievable7

No Gibbs is not up to it, he is a great young player but spends the majority of the season on the sidelines with an injury. If he can stay injury free then he could be the perfect replacement but cover should really be brought in

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs is too injury prone and too inexperienced?

Cahill, Samba, Jagielka, Dann......none of these transfers will happen, as Wenger are lining up for a central defender surprise for us. Remember the giant who played in central defence for the USA at the world cup? Oguchi Onyewu is 6 ft 5 in, 29 years old, currently playing for Sporting Lisboa. He also holds a belgian citizenship, and speak fluent french. He will be a bargain, and join Arsenal for around 4-5 mill. He will add the muscles Wenger is looking for.

Expect Fabregas, and Clichy to leave the club......thank you both for what you have done for the club Nasri will be staying, and will make a big leap in wages, 4 year contract and 110k a week. Wenger desperate too keep him. Nasri will fill Fabregas shoes.

There has also been a lot of talk in Norway, that Arsenal has been tracking Troms 's Senegalese Kara, who is a DM, and will offer great cover for Song. He is 6 ft 4 in, and also a beast on set-pieces. Good pace also. Expect a transfer worth around 3-4 mill. Typical Wenger signing.

Gervinho looks to be a sure bet, and he will to the winger/striker players at Arsenal.....why not get a REAL striker Wenger? When Fabregas is sold......expect a late signing of a striker...possibly on closing-day of transfer window. Benzema will join the gunners for 20 mill....this will be the big-signing

Believable18 Unbelievable15

Dont be an person ....... Oguchi Onyewu has just signed a contract in June 2011.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal will not be signing Onyewu as he just completed a move from AC Milan to Sporting a week ago. As both a gooner and a US soccer supporter, I can tell you that Onyewu isn't good enough for Arsenal anyway. He has really poor ball skills/positioning.

Where did you even come up w this?

if arsenal want to buy a class ST that is available and good value for money y dont they go for Aguero? what do you think Ed?
especially since his clause is going to be reduced to 30mil Bargain?? {Ed009's Note - I'm not sure the player does represent good value for money. He is overrated in my opinion, and has done nothing to garner the reputation he has. Furthermore his wage demands are astronomic and would completely smash Arsenal's wage structure.}

Believable3 Unbelievable13

Totally agree with ed

Even though I have been dreaming of
This signing for 4 years

TheArsenalKid10 {Ed002's Note - There is a lot of misinformation about this so called "release clause". The overall running costs of teh player put him well beyond the m,eans of most clubs. Chelsea and manchester United have both failed to put an acceptable package together to cover wages. Both could move back for him, particularly Chelsea but I do not see Arsenal making a bid, sorry.}
