Arsenal bought Rosicky off Dortmund because they had financial difficulties and bought him for a measly 6m.
Arsenal bought Santos because Fenerbache had financial difficulties (match-fixing) and we bought Santos for a measly 6m.

Lyon are apparently in some financial situation, Gourcuff/Bastos/Lopez/Cissokho anyone?

Ur on to summit

Agree0 Disagree0

There are alot of teams in financial difficulty - congratulations for choosing 1 of those teams and listing some of their players. None of them will be signed.

Why are there so many many tossers like the second commenter on these sites. Why are you even on here if all you're going to do is sh!t all over a perfectly sensible rumour?

Colney good work mate - optimism with the sense to back it up. Yes there are plenty of clubs with financial difficulties but that is as generic as being 'unable to spend 15m on 1 player' - the difference is all the clubs we bought from needed money and we cornered them. There certainly is interest from us if what I've read this week is anything to go by, and there's a statement from the Cologne chairman/manager (whichever) addressing the issue so it is definitely live.

He's a quality player, I'd love to see him at Arsenal, especially as I support Germany and have always thought he is quality. Some people aren't that into him, the thinking is that maybe he 'over-achieves' with Germany, but with that in mind Arsenal would be great for him, he would do a lot better than expected probably as we always seem to get that from these 'average' players. Or in other words, we may be able to supply him better than Cologne can? Either way, I am going to be keeping tabs on this rumour, he is perfect - young enough, experienced enough, top quality, not a rip-off, nearing his contract end, deserving of playing on a bigger world stage than Cologne do, needs to give his international career a shot in the arm, etc etc.

Do NOT be surprised if he comes to Arsenal. Fingers crossed.

Just realised I've been going on for ages about Podolski, sorry mate, think I meant to write that elsewhere haha.

Cologne have come out and said they are trying to tie podolski down to a new contract.

Likewise, WE have come out and said we are trying to tie down theo walcott to a contract.

On your logic, there is a strong chance theo could goto juventus. Chances?

On my logic, there is as much chance of podolski joining arsenal, as there is walcott joining juventus. OOOOF thats another transfer dreamer put into a reality check.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha that is the most unsound logic ever. AT the end of the day Juve can't offer Theo anything he hasn't already got, in the best league there is. Podolski has nothing going for him at Cologne. He doesn't pay in champs league, he's on the bench for Germany now, etc, you cannot apply such stupid egotistical logic using Walcott to Juve as an example.

Agree0 Disagree0

On neutral logic, there's every chance Walcott could join Juve and so every chance Pod could join us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id use a different example as u know english people rarely leave england apart from beckham, owen, vassel who were old or dint play well wen they went abroad

hi ed i dont believe talksport rumours as they claim they have brilliant sources but none of them guessed who we would sign after being linked with, well, everybody.

but do you know any truth in the esteban granero rumours.

i dont really know much about him thoguh.

many thanks

clock ned gooner {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware there is little in them, other than he has been scouted and a very tentative enquiry made as to his availability. Nothing more solid than that, clubs will often make enquiries about 30 or 40 players in the run up to a transfer window, so it could be nothing.}

Oliver Giroud to Arsenal

Pros:- 20 goals in 48 games for Montpellier
- 8 goals so far this season
- Just called up to the French squad
- 6ft 3" so would be a good Chamakh replacement
- Not cuptied for African nations unlike Chamakh
- Deal expires in 2014 so would be available summer 2012.
- Greece owes the French banks loads of money which could drive the price down if the s**t hits the fan.

Against:- PSG could outbid us.
- Wenger may give Chamakh longer to prove himself.
- Joel Campbell and Carlos Vela currently out on loan so Wenger may go with youth upfront next season.

He's another Gignac, very average player who's in the best form of his carrier at the moment. But he isn't even enough good to play in a club such Sunderland. Bendtner > Giroud honnestly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think campbell will stay at be at lorient on loan for 1 or 2 more seasons, and giroud is class

Agree0 Disagree0

Gignac inform hes not been inform since he joined OM

edd any intrest from arsenal in Marco Reus he would be more realistic than hazard and goetze {Ed001's Note - there is a lot of interest in Marco Reus, but it seems likely he will be joining Bayern, if anyone, in the summer.}

Believable14 Unbelievable1

The only players joining Arsenal in January will be rejects from other clubs. The boards best policy would be to decide what positions they need to strengthen and wait to see what unfold at the big 5 clubs, and then pick up the players likely to surplus to requirements.

Please stop believing this mess can be reversed with the signing of Tevez, Hazard and Messi. None of the world class footballers will join Arsenal after the exodus of the stars. Expect RVP to leave at the end of the season, and get ready for your new true London derby with Fulham and QPR. Chelsea and Spurs are now miles ahead of Arsenal but you will cling onto your last win. Even QPR beat Chelsea the game before so don't use that win as any measure.

It is time Arsenal faced the future. This is your last Champions League season, you will lose Robin Van Persie, and your legitimate transfer targets will be Top 5 rejects.

With all this in mind why not ask Man Utd for Ferdinand and Owen, beg Spurs for Jenas & Bentley and try to secure Kalou and Drogba.

All six will be needed after RVP leaves and would all slot in ahead of the band of merry men currently on show.

Get Real - 15 years of deep sleep approaching.
