Mate of mine who is a Big LFC supporter has heard that Theos agent has held talks over a £14m deal and wages over £100k a week. My mates contact at LFC called it and got it spot on when Carrol signed from Toon to LFC.

I for one would be gutted if this happens as Theo is on the brink of great things at the Arseanl.

Believable12 Unbelievable39

Why would they when they now have Suarez and sturridge

Agree0 Disagree0

They just signed Sturridge to play up front, doubt they would be buying another striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Another post from Rodgers. Yes we are a club in decline, yes we are indeed a selling club, but our leaders in this deline, and the only club since Leeds to do this so well are Liverpool. Why on earth would Theo exchange a top six club (I know it's sad to admit the change from top 2 to 3 to 4 to now 6) for a top 10 club on the decline?

Agree0 Disagree0

There's only one club on the decline, the fact your now saying your a top six club proves it.

Liverpool confirm Arsenal interest in Stewart Downing but insist no formal bid has been made

Believable4 Unbelievable56

I would hope that we wouldn't take him if he was free he's just not good enough

Agree1 Disagree0

Wenger really is loosing the plot if true!

Oxford gooner

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks for the post from Brendan, but while it's quite amusing it gets boring after a while. While you may want to offer him as part of a Walcott deal, he will actually be going back to his right level at somewhere like Middlesboro or Leeds.

David villa has signed. Wow. Did not see that one coming off. Hope Theo doesn't expect the same salary, I understand it's 110k/week. So I guess the interest in Adrian will go now

Paul

Where did you hear this and why cant we buy both ali

Agree1 Disagree0

Where have you got the information about Villa signing from?

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2013 22:30:00
I would love to sign Villa. World class player. But where do you get your information from?

Agree1 Disagree0

The only reason arsene has signed villa is to comfort the loss so of Walcott NOT signing, Fans should except this as fair compensation ?

Agree2 Disagree0

Says who?

Agree0 Disagree0

I've checked all the Spanish press and this does not look like it has been finalised.

holtby has signed for spurs on a pre contract agreement therefore rumours have it arsenal will step up their intrest in MVila, Also arsenal will up their bid for Adrian Lopez. Theo Walcott looks set to sign a new deal therefore arsenal will not pursue Zaha he looks like he is going to manchester united. Ed whats the latest on Lopez, if he doesnt sign who else looks likely to come in attack

Heard rumours about sissoko joining us. Any basis in this Ed?

Believable5 Unbelievable23

04 Jan 2013 18:00:59
Why is it that all we hear is our players going out on loan e.g. Chamakh, Park, Denilson, Arshavin previously amongst others. The press are suggesting Djourou will go out on loan to Hanover initially. What does this say about our transfer policy and wages for poor players when no-one wants to buy them and their value diminishes as their contracts run down?

BTW I see The Spuds have announced that Holtby will come to them at the end of the season.

Come on Gunners. Pull a finger out and sort out the policy.

Jonathan

Believable34 Unbelievable8

Exactly and how is it that holtby is spurs bound and we couldn't get him, even on a free transfer unless wenger isn't interested

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2013 20:55:27
Have to say its music to my ears gains are wage bill dropping so hopefully more quality coming

Agree1 Disagree0

West ham have taken chamakh on a 6 month loan with a view to a permanant deal,, look at it as a test drive he, s sat on ur drive for 12 months

Agree0 Disagree0

There are only so many 'test drives' that a person needs to make to assess the quality of a vehicle. The reality seems to be that a lot of clubs are test driving our players and not deeming them good enough to purchase. Oh and I forgot Bendtner before!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is good player when they came.

Djourou get improved contract in 'that' period where with him in the games we're unbeatable. At that time, nobody say his wages is too much.

Chamack is in the end of bordeoux winning season and come on a free of course he will get big wages.

Squillaci is spanish international and experience fans have been craving for, unfortunately he didn't make it here but i think 40k is not too much when that type of player he was came.

Arshavin is our biggest transfer fee ever. Of course with such signing come such wage. It is only logic.

Podolski may flop, and we will hear this same thing people said here. '90k for a flop that didnt make it at bayern. Why do Arsenal even bother to buy him?'
Something like that.

That's my take.

WHAT THE ACTUAL F***

The spuds have won the race to Holtby's signature? FOR FREE! Do we have any targets? I thought Wenger had come out and said that Holtby was one of his main targets.

We really need this to be a good window for us, Tottenham are already ahead of us in the table and if they nab one of the CL places ahead of us they will probably also take a march ahead of us on potential signings in the summer!

I dont want panic buys, as ever, but id like to see some ambition from Wenger.

DM - M'vila/Capoue
FWD - Villa(loan)/Isco
LB - Shaw

And maybe one or two more, depending on other potential departures. COME ON WENGER! Work the magic once more!

Bear Gunner.

Believable29 Unbelievable10

He's coming in july. relaxxx. and if we do sign him you will say that we need someone right away.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't recall ever seeing saying he wanted holtby, he may have said he was a good player etc etc but no more than that. no point getting angry about it, we have other positions to fill than yet another central tidy attacking midfielder plus it could put the development of thomas eisfield back.
we only need about 3 quality signings to get the club back into gear.

Agree0 Disagree0

How often does Arsene Wenger ever announce his interest in a player unless he is either certain of signing or it's a smokescreen to cover real targets. yorkygooner

Agree1 Disagree0

Well Bear Gunner, you really put Wenger in an impossible position when you call for him to sign players that aren't for sale! Shaw is not for sale, Wenger has been told that. What do you expect him to do:
"Oh, Mr. Cortese, please be nice and change your mind otherwise Bear Gunner will not like me!"

If a clubs supporters live in a fantasy world, you can't keep blaming the guys who have to manage in the real world.

Agree0 Disagree0

He never actually said we were even in contention to sign him, and with regards to the spurs agreement so sign him nothing is done and dusted until he actually signs for them in the summer

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2013 17:23:08
is there any truth in us buying Lucas Biglia. as we have shown interest in the past, although he is cup tied we could get him for about 8.5 mil

Bryan

Believable5 Unbelievable24

I know the Belgian competition very well. Biglia is NOT good enough for Arsenal. Not now, not ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a chance that he will be coming to us in January as he is cup-tied but there is a growing interest in him so there is a good chance of a summer move

Theo Walcott is in talks with Chelsea over a possible move to Stamford Bridge. They would pay £100, 000 a week and he would be guaranteed his preferred striker role.

Believable17 Unbelievable43

No chance

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Chelsea guarantee that when they have Torres and Ba who are both better striking options than Walcott?

Agree2 Disagree0

They just signed demba ba to play up front and unless they have had a bid accepted by arsenal they can't talk to theo.

Agree1 Disagree1

So right after signing Ba, Chelsea want Walcott?? They just sold one striker who was sick of playing on the wings (Sturridge) why would they buy Walcott??...

Agree1 Disagree0

Guaranteed his preferred striker role?.....ahead of Torres and Ba? Doubtful. Don't just make up random rubbish!

Agree1 Disagree0

He would be guaranteed a striker role- despite the fact that they've just signed Ba and they have Torres? Don't think so pal!

Agree1 Disagree0

No, he's not

Agree0 Disagree0

Guaranteed striker role? talk sense, they just bought Ba and have Torres.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a spud fan

Agree0 Disagree0

No garunteed striking position there with ba arriving, torres already there and an apparent move for falcao so i'd doubt it very much

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres better than Walcott! It's started already. Why do you always slate your players because theyve decided to leave a sinking ship.

Arsenal to make a renewed bid for Spanish striker Adrian of £12 million after their previous formal offer of £10 million was rejected by Atletico Madrid. Madrid however are still holding out for the £14.7 million release clause in Adrian's contract.

Believable24 Unbelievable7

Is it just me or does anyone else think we should put the fees together and another 10 million and make a bid for Falcao, surely 37.7 million is close to what Athletico would accept

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2013 16:48:48
Arsenal are to bid £12 million for defensive midfielder M'Vila. Rennes are likely to accept as the player currently unsettled and M'Vila is likely to accept a contract having already expressed an interest in joining Arsenal in the summer. The midfielder is therefore expected to arrive in London for a medical in the next few days.

Arsenal to make £6 million pound bid for sneijder but are only prepared to pay him wages of £110, 000 a week. Sneijder currently earns £200, 000

Believable22 Unbelievable36

Why would we pay 6 million when Inter are widely believed to waive a fee for him and there is no way he would except that wage offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

To ensure that our bid is accepted over any other bids as we anticipate competition. he is also ready to take a pay cut to ensure a move to a top club

Agree1 Disagree0

He's available for free and wants 180, 000 euros a week. So I'm not convinced this rumour is true

Agree1 Disagree0

He's just a sitting duck no one will pay 200k so either sit and wait till contract over or take a pay cut

Arsenal to bid for southampton's Luke Shaw a whopping £8 million plus Andre Santos

Believable15 Unbelievable35

If you make it a whopping 18m plus Walcott, you will still get the same response you have already received!

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubtful. Why would Southampton want Santos? Don't doubt that's what we may have in mind but there is no real chance that they'll accept that.

West ham sign Chamakh for 6 month loan

Believable41 Unbelievable4

Excellent - almost as good as a new signing for us! Now to get rid of Arshavin, Squillaci, Djourou, Gervinho, Ramsey and Fabianski. Then our squad whilst smaller will be much better!

Agree1 Disagree0

Not long enough

Agree1 Disagree0

So he is still on our books, as no one wants to buy him - or squilachi, or Denilson, or Barry Bender, or Chamakh, or Djouru, what a top squad Wenger has amassed !

Agree1 Disagree0

Most of those signings were free transfers and wen ya on a budget like arsenal obviously are your gonna get some bad buys we ain't got the money of man u man city or Chelsea wake up and realise we gets done a fantastic job

Arsenal have made an offer of 13.8 million for David villa and are willing to match his £110, 000 weekly wage

Believable26 Unbelievable51

This appears to be true, however Barca are not letting him go in January and Villa wont force a move apparently because his wife is about to have a baby (not an ideal time to move ur family to a new country)

Agree1 Disagree0

Not a chance!

If this happens I will eat my hat, your hat and dance around the emirates naked singing I love Spurs.

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope not .... Waste of money imo ... He is unproven in the premier league and nearly at retirement age...

Agree1 Disagree0

Finger croossed for this one

Agree0 Disagree1

Yeah i can see this happening ... seriously ? what have you been smoking sir ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate u better get ready to eat your hat, this guy is coming... 100%

Agree0 Disagree1

Crying out for a quality striker and u fans say hope not, perhaps you prefer another 17 year old with lots of promise

Agree1 Disagree0

Top striker available CAVANI, villa's close to retirement, why spend money on him when we could spend a bit more on a top talent in his prime with years to spare

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree get ready to eat your hat

i think he will come

Agree0 Disagree1

You should get ready to eat your hat

Agree0 Disagree0

I just can't see him leaving Spain. Given his age and history, there is no chance he'd come to England. Fair enough he's unhappy at Barca, but there's several clubs in Spain who can afford the same as Arsenal are willing to pay him (along with the less tax)

Paul {Ed003's Note - more tax now}

Agree0 Disagree0

Really dont get everyones issue with his age. He is 31. Still has a few top seasons left in him. Look at lampard still doing it at 35, giggs who has lost all pace but is still integral to uniteds squad. You dont lose class people!

Will never ever happen.. If lost we (so they say) Van P, Nasri and Walcott over wages - no chance in hell would they pay Sneidger's

Agree2 Disagree1

I wonder why they are desperate to get rid off him? He's not the player he was.

Agree0 Disagree1

Weve turned down his wage demandes, its been in about 3 different papers

Agree1 Disagree0

Arsenal wont pay his 200, 000 a week wages.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would inter want rid of sneijder he has so much quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Malaga i thought you knew more about the Arsenal way of business.

We would NEVER match his wages.

Plus do we even need him?

We need a CDM and a ST, perhaps a versatile defender

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly, who feeds you with all this rubbish?

Agree0 Disagree0

Demba Ba to Chelsea. I think that could have been the striker we needed and for a small price of £7.5 million. Ed can you tell me what strikers we are ACTUALLY looking at please.

miniyorkgunner {Ed002's Note - I have explained plenty of times already but the most likely remains Adrian Lopez.}

Believable18 Unbelievable16

7.5 million plus 5 agent's fee's all in the region of 1 million per agent totaling 12.5 million for a player who failed a medical at Stoke in 2011.Not many clubs would gamble on that for that amount of money.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2013 17:08:09

morning boys and girls...

i am told there could be up to 6-7 players leaving in january and up to 4 players coming in...

i am told the meeting with theo walcotts reps yesterday was nothing to do with a new contract,,, more to do with the details when a players leaves a club...

i am told there has been contact from a pl club for the services of "tommy v"...i am told this is more likely to happen in the summer...i am told there was heated conversations with wenger over the selling of song and rvp in the summer and the only reason he was made captain was because he was vice-captain and wenger did not want to show there was a rift in the camp...

i am told there is interest from 3 clubs,, 2 of them london clubs for frimpongs signature...

i am told aa23 has been told he can move on a free...

i am told sagna will not be an arsenal player come next season and if a good offer comes in january he will be gone...i am told wenger would prefer for this to happen in the summer...

all the other players moving have been advertised every where so i wont mention them...

Wenger waits for Walcott deal to be finalised.

Looking at M'Villa from Rennes and another striker, possibly Adrian Lopez or a loan deal for
David Villa.

Believable29 Unbelievable16

That just sums it up - "wenger waits". Here we go again, lots of potential signings, yet one current player is allowed to put everything on hold. Why do we always seem to dither when it is blatantly obvious we need strengthening immediately. Let's be realistic, if we do not win the FA Cup it will be 8 years and counting, so why not strengthen now before the Swansea game. It said it all the other night when we were struggling against Southampton and we brought on Gervinho and Ramsey, who will probably be in the starting 11 on Sunday - Oh dear!

Agree1 Disagree0

Paper talk?

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think there is any chance we will sign Capoue? He has been amazing this year and I think he would be a better signing than M'vila.

Thanks for the great work Eds and Happy New year to everyone!

Sally {Ed002's Note - Etienne Capoue has attracted confirmed interest from Schalke, Anzhi, Inter and Benfica in addition to the longer term interest of Spurs and Arsenal. Hi Ed I think Arsenal need to sign these players:

GK: A reliable goalkeeper who's cheap and a leader.

My Choice: Jaroslav Drobny £500K-£1M

DF: A fullback who can attack and defend.

My Choice: Luke Shaw £10-13M

CM:A player who breaks and starts attacks and can tackle.

My Choice: Yann M'Vila £10-17M (Although he's been in poor form and a bad attitude Arsene will sort him out.)

ST: We need pace, strength, skill and a clinical finish.

My Choice: Steven Jovetic £15-25M

Ed what do you think? (Bearing in mind he said he WILL spend on an exceptional player;Steven Jovetic).

Lucas {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about Jovetic.}

Whilst he and Sanchez will be sacrificed, I suspect the summer is the more likely time for a move.}
