Mirror quoting Jackson Martinez as being a boyhood Arsenal fan who wouldn't hesitate to join the club. Eds, saw your post on his price being too high, and wanted to know how far apart are the two clubs in their valuation of the player. Think he'd be a fantastic addition, and at 27, just entering his prime.

Ed do you expect arsenal to sign a striker in this window and if so who?
Also do you expect the striker to be Jackson Martinez?(if one comes in)

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal would like to sign a striker this January. I have said where I know of interest. Porto are prepared to cash in on Jackson Martinez with varying degrees of interest from Arsenal, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs, Galatasaray, Juventus and Barcelona in recent months. However, whilst Porto will seek his full release clause of 40M euro but would likely need to settle for less (€36M for want of a number). Two bids from Juventus were turned down and Milan baulked at the asking price. This has left Napoli who have spoken with Porto and the player and have "broadly" struck a deal twice - but have struggling to get the detail finalised - and perhaps Spurs who would need to match the Napoli deal. Arsenal is a possibility but the price will not be attractive. Whilst certain parties at Chelsea would like to make a move for the player, someone very influential remains unconvinced.}

ed what's the situation with matthias ginter? I expected him to move last summer and we were definitely interested. are we still interested?
