Just read on a couple of sites that RVP won't be renewing his contract. That sucks

Gooner Grant

Believable28 Unbelievable8

Van Persie has let us all down, we sang his name with such joy and now he does this, an utter disgrace.

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo. The move to the emirates caused us a financial headache due to the massive payments. The board see that we have 'coped' without spending and stumbling on as top player after top player walks out the revolving front door. Too many people on the board see our club as a gravy train. We need a change at board level and invest before its too late. We can only continue for so long with average players and the promise of youth

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet well done mate. Your a quick one aren't you? What sites did you read this on. Www.robinvanpersie.com? Cause it's on there his official site so you know

Agree0 Disagree0

He is going man utd not city yanky has to go look what they did at liverpool

Agree0 Disagree0

He hasn't let us down at all. He wants to win trophies. Simple. Unfortunately he won't do that with us.

Paul - Rochester

Agree0 Disagree0

LFC fan in peace here.

Chin up Gooners, you have survived the loss of big names before now and AW always seems to have a trick or two up his proverbial....

Love watching you for the way football should be played.

Best wishes for the comming season

John

Agree0 Disagree0

His post on his website was done by his agent , he criticised the board and manager so they would sell him in the summer , don't let him kid you, its all about getting a big final pay day , with his injury record you can't blame him .

Van Persie to Real Madrid for 25 million. Deal to be done in the next couple weeks.

Walcott to Chelsea for 10 million.

Mvilla to arsenal for 15 million to be announced by next wednesday.

Lloris will not be happening. Wenger has to much faith in Sczecsny to not make him a starter and Lloris would want to be the permanent starter.

Believable22 Unbelievable30

Considering that the club apparently had no idea that RVP was going to come out and say he didn't want to extend his contract, and Wenger determined to keep him, I very much doubt Madrid are signing him.

With Ronaldo, Benzima and Higuain, along with all their other attacking options, why would they need him/spend that much on him? Although I'd take a cash + Higuain deal!

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel this could be a good thing for the club, as most of the players we have been losing in the past few years all seemed to lack the drive required to win things, and they have had chances, just no bottle, new players new beginnings come on you gunners

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont blame rvp for leaving but lets hope this is the kick up the backside the board need to get the team sorted and worthy of attempting to win something at least

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain would be a great addition to our team, any cash that comes with him aswell would be a bonus. I think with a cdm an another top defender, we'll be moving in the right direction

Agree0 Disagree0

OP, RM do not have the funds to spend £25m on a 29 year old ticking time bomb. I think you will get less than £20m for him and it will be City paying the cash.

Mike, I don't believe Arsenal had any intention of keeping RVP once they knew what sort of salary he wanted. I also believe they knew about this weeks ago hence the signing of Giroud.

Higuain would cost upwards of £35m and would he want to move to Arsenal? I think RVP has already been replaced, but perhaps another striker will replace Bendtner?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rvp just came out and said he wasn't extending and a couple of hours later this deal happens I don't buy it, nice try though.

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply to mike. Ov course they new he was going! Thats why wenger bought 2 strikers for nearly £30mill. If thought was staying why wud they buy 2 strikers and waste budget when wenger only players one up front. Like all gunners we hoped but knew deep down he was going. Im afraid will be in a man city shirt soon

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP, not happening. Walcott rumour is one I have heard from a reasonable Chelski source. Just my two pennies worth.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Mike that the best thing can happen now is swap Van Persie with Higuain + money but the money dont matter if we get.

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting to see how much RVP goes for, twelve months left at 29 yrs old One all beit prolific season behind him, might get 10 mil....

Agree0 Disagree0

This news (RVP) will cost the club over 5 m on marketing and T-shirt sales and God knows how many more are we going to loose on the trip to Asia and Africa?

He is an Icon for the club {Ed022's Note - You couldn't be more wrong. Arsenal did everything they could to persuade RVP but all he was interested in was holding the club he so dearly 'loves' to ransom from a financial perspective. If Arsenal would have offered him the contract he demanded, then Arsenal would be losing a lot more than '5 million'. Trust your club mate.}

Believable26 Unbelievable15

Ed if u knew anything about this u would have commented before todays story so dont act like u know the details when u dont.
bet this dont get thru {Ed022's Note - Ok then I shalln't say anything more on the matter on this page.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy wants trophies, he clearly knows the club wont be spending enough to make this happen. Cant blame him but hope he goes abroad but Man City must be favourites

Agree0 Disagree0

They better sell him like now before the start of the new campaign. I can't believe he refused to sign a new contract. I wish him all the best with his injuries

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said ED !! {Ed027's Note - he knew if he said rbp would leave, hed get slaughtered, he tells us the reason and he still gets slaugtered

Agree0 Disagree0

For what its worth ED im with you, gutted he's going but he owes us a lot more than we owe him. Look at the players that truly love the club, Write, Herny, they never left for the riches else where & if we hadnt stood by him in his injury hell he might well be playing at a lower level now.

Ashman

Agree0 Disagree0

Wants to win trophies!!!!!
I think with the two signings, mvila and with the return of wilshere we had a chance.
Personally as a 20 yr season ticket holder lets get rid and try and find players who want to help take the club to the next level.
Has to be sold now do not want to see Rvp with the captains armband next season

Agree0 Disagree0

"Ed if u knew anything about this u would have commented before todays story so dont act like u know the details when u dont.
bet this dont get thru " - moron, learn to spell.

If you haven't seen this coming for miles then more fool you. It's been blatantly obvious to anyone with any level of intelligence that Van Persie was gone before the last ball of the season was kicked. He's been looking at the green grass on the other side of the fence for some time now. Your board are partly to blame but I reckon he's probably fairly mercenary and that his talk of "love" for the club is just to appease the fans. Fact of it is money talks and I reckon he'll go to the highest bidder. Sadly, that may be City. No respect for the bloke if that's the case.

All problems at Arsenal stem from the board. Those of you that would like to see Wenger's head roll need to have a think about who would fill his boots. Who could keep you in the top four with a board as incompetent as yours? Who? No-one, that's who! But hey, let's hope you all get what you wish for...then comes mid-table anonymity!

I'm not an Arsenal fan myself (waits for "what's it got to do with you" comments) but love watching your club play football. Your style of play is a joy to watch and I believe Wenger's philosophy will eventually pay off...if the board back him in the way they should.

Also, looking across these boards the Arsenal fans do more whingeing than pretty much all of the other clubs supporters. Spend more time cheering your team on then slagging 'em off and you'd do a lot better I reckon.

I hope Arsenal really do achieve something next year, even just a cup would set things in motion I reckon. As for Van Persie, good riddance to bad rubbish if he's as mercenary as I suspect!

Agree0 Disagree0

Youre wrong ed he said it wasnt nothing to do with money he said his ideas and arsenals ideas of going forward wernt the same so that means no big signings fact {Ed027's Note - okay you continue to believe him

Agree0 Disagree0

Its ridiculous a player decides to leave and the inevitable "money grabber" and "greed" get banded about. Lets look at the facts the guy is already a multi millionaire, guaranteed a big pay day in the US or China at the end of his career so i personally dont see money as his main incentive. He carried the team pretty much single handedly lastyear. Thank the lad and move on

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that with progress the club have made already transfer wise, then him sayin the club aren't going in the right direction is just an excuse. Let's get it right, he was a great player for us (when fit), but he had his first injury free season, maybe it's time to collect what we can out of this. As long as we use the money unlike when fabregas left, then we can push on from last season. We lost 2 big players this time last year in fabregas and nasri, only this time we have lost a forward and replaced him with 2. We have lacked strength in depth over recent years, I'm with the ed, I too say have belief in the club

Stockport Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

If we have offered him lets say 300k pw I am absolutely sure he would have signed without a second thought. Money rules

Agree0 Disagree0

How many injury years had with us? we kept faith in him and dis is how we get repaid! its all about the money

Agree0 Disagree0

Van persie always scored more than 10 goals every season he was here. It is much more than our other 'strikers' who earned close to that. He doesn't owe us anything. I wish he stays a year more but it seems all the more unlikely now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with the editor here. Van Persie was no saint when he was a young player and had one full season fir in eight seasons. Wenger showed a lot of faith in him and he ransomed Wenger's trust at too high a price. Will be sad to see him go but he's no bigger than the Arsenal.

Stewart

Agree0 Disagree0

We kept faith in injured Robin but 120k or whatever it is a week isn't good enough? - If I was Leo Messi I'd say I'm ecstatic with 50k a week and use the rest in a charitable manner. Plus if he wants trophies surely with the transfers so far it would indicate we should be title challengers. Get rid of RVP to the highest bidder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wit the signings we made so far an possibility of few more to join i cant see the reason rvp wud want too leave the club seein as we stood by him in all his injury troubles then he throws it back in wengers face like this i for 1 say gud riddance get as much money as possible asap an move on hopefully as wenger has proved in the past wit letting players go due too wage demands he can be replaced wit someone who wants too play for the team not the money and yas can say wat yas like hrvp is a money grabber if he leaves

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2012 23:47:10
How many of Wengers signings are you lot happy with......the Brazilian left back? One game Park? 6ft 7" german who cant head the ball.......maybe its not about money.......but i would love to see Walcott go (not good enough).....play the ox.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok ed please make this clear ok rvp is not signing a new contract why does he state he is going to meet with ivan and if any developments happens he will say I'm confused on this as he has come out publicly he won't stay {Ed027's Note - he said he wont stay beyound next year for certain, this meeting is to see where will he be for the upcoming season

Agree0 Disagree0

He shouldn't be making this comment from his own website, that's a very ill advised move on the part of his agent, no doubt to put himself up for sale while the window is young. So much for loving the club.
Viera, Henry, Cesc, we survived them all, and we will survive RVP. Step up TV5, lets have a captain for >2yrs for once.
Ed thanks for telling it as it is, you don't hold a club you love to ransom like that.

rvp leeaving to man city 30m

Believable21 Unbelievable28

He is just said he has just stated he is leaving but not where and wether it will be thsi season or next.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont be so naive, Wenger might be turning into his own spitting image puppet, but your board wont let him walk for nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

It'll be this season. His comments make his position at Arsenal untenable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never going to cost that much. There just aren't enough clubs that will pay that much for a striker especially at 29 with 1 year left on his contract. RVP will be the biggest steal of this transfer window.

IMO the most they will get for him is 20 mil if there is a fight for him.

KB

Agree0 Disagree0

Take that 20-25 million tops 12-15 million on felliani and then 10 million on Adam Johnson.sit Theo in the middle of podolski and giroud and watch the silverware roll in!

Agree0 Disagree0

Now that is a great idea, Fellaini is one hell of a beast. I can get comfy with that piece of business

Agree0 Disagree0

£30mill snap there hands off. Hope he enjoys playing every few games as will rotate with balotelli, aguero tevez.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard a rumour that it was 22m 3 weeks ago.. 225 p/w. there was no way we would go anywhere near that. ( we offered 130 p/w and 5.5 signing on over 3 years therefore thats a total of 170 p/w)

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I would let him go to city and ask for either Johnson and dzeko or even de jong or micah Richards in exchange.

Agree0 Disagree0

ed when dose pre-season start? and do you think there will be any more signings complete before it dose start? and dose any1 know anything thing about wilshere and sagna's injures because keep hearing they are both out till mid september then i hear they will be fit to start the season?
cheers

KAY9 {Ed002's Note - The players will in the main be back this week for preseason.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

And does any Arsenal fan want a dose of education? Jees........ I heard it was a bit simple over here, but I didnt realise it was such a vacuum. Although this would of course be in keeping with the library....

Agree0 Disagree0

Finish above you every year. Thick scum.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thick? Last time I looked, exit polls show our support to have the highest proportion of university grads? Isn't it you lot that run around with pitch forks and loose teeth. If the caps fits son....

I think your day in sun is just about done now, so move out the way, theres a good chap....

Ed please can you explain financial fairplay to me? {Ed002's Note - I will in a couple of days put something together which explains it all. Remind me on Friday.}

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Forget fair play . man city back hander ethiad deal laughs in the face of fair play rules.

Agree0 Disagree0

When a clubs losses are so much (%) greater than their gains, theyre breaking the rule.
Man city are spending millions but they arent getting it back in mechandise sale and things like that.but good news, arsenal are the only top 5 team currently passing comfortably

Allan McGregor to Arsenal for free

heard it in Glasgow a great signing if true and free

Believable28 Unbelievable15

Hope this is true

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be great back up for Szczesny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes good but not bril waste of wages if u ask me. we might as well buy a keeper thats worth it cos lets be honest thats the only thing weve lacked over the last 5 seasons

N.E.L gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

@n.e.l only thing we lacked? if only that was what we lacked lol
we lacked proper board members with ambition we lacled the giroud style of true cf we lacked goal scoring cam we lacked aireal cbs we lacked rock solid cdm like viera we lacked passion likr tony adams we lacked players who love arsenal thru n thru all we had so far are players in it for pay chque n those who used us as a spring board into "bigger clubs" greener grasses and apparently we still lack fans who see this
gimmeg6

Agree0 Disagree0

Well yea i supose but look at ouf keepers weve ended up with. absolutly rubbish most of them. personaly i think grioud wont do as much as most think he can. if rvp goes then we need a 20 a season goal scorer n grioud or podolski aint tht

Agree0 Disagree0

Over the last five years. Lacked a goal scoring cam? Urm fabregas? Nasri?, fair enough a cdm. We needed a great goal keeper. Sczezney is loveable but he isn't a great goal keeper. He let in more goals then any other in the prem last year just so your aware. Vermalen loves arsenal and just renewed his contract. But you are right if every player could be jack Wilshire. We would be an unreal club

Agree0 Disagree0

Believe me id love to believe that tv5 loves arsenal etc all that lovley boll*cks but didnt rvp say that didnt fab say that? didnt nasri beef with gallas for leaving arsenal? how many players claim they love us yetleave us for one reason or another. fab case may be the nobler ones but the result is that he is no longer with us regardless...
yea c.a.m we need the pires style
anyways we need players who WANNA play for us cus we are the mighty gunners not for the pay cheque
gimmeg6

Agree0 Disagree0

Players lack the love for the club but i agree we defo need another striker if rvp goes. msybe sum one like teves who knows wher the back of the net is. and we definatly need a nee goal keeper we conceed to many goals but thats also down to the defence. we need a centre back aswell some one tgat isnt affraid to get a foot in. our whole team need to up a gear to compete for anything in the 2012-2013 season........ kboi

Agree0 Disagree0

How can u say conceding most goals is Szczesny fault?!? the reason we conceded most goals is because of our defensive injuries not the goalkeeper, he kept us in quite a few games last year and is one of the best keepers in the prem

Agree0 Disagree0

SCHZ is the best goalie we have had since Lehman. lets wait and see if he go's on to surpass Lehman and then Seaman!. i would be happy with Mcgregor

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2012 07:59:25
hugo lloris to arsenal for 12 million.. deal in place for flappyhandski to go the other way...

Believable19 Unbelievable9

Waste of Funds - I would rather we dedicate this to more pressing areas.

You want to pay 12mln + big wages for a GK to play 15-20 games? Idiotic...

Buy a very cheap or ideally free player. Would say Julio Cesar but the wage demands are too high.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

Somehow I think not. Wenger has rightly given the number one spot to Szczesny & there is no way LLoris will play second fiddle, nor will Arsenal part with £12m for a second choice keeper. I cant imagine anyone will want Fabianski!

Agree0 Disagree0

On sky sports it says arsenal have got two weeks to place a bid or lloris wont be joining so wenger needs to sort it

Agree0 Disagree0

Flapianski is terrible. id be happy with loris. still think we need some english players in tho. shawcross for me is class but the ramsey tackle makes it immpossible to sign him

Agree0 Disagree0

Are Lyon desperate? What a replacement

Paul - Rochester

Agree0 Disagree0

NO CHANCE! Szczesny will be our no. 1 next season

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Sczeszney let in the most goals in the prem last season "we need a better keeper"

Agree0 Disagree0

Szczesny did not let in the most goals in the prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

To me it's simple. Alan mcgregor. Quality and available for nothing.

Paul - Rochester

Agree0 Disagree0

The reported fee is now 16 jmil. Arsenal wouldn't pay 12 let alone 16 mil. Stop it with these poor rumours. I'm sure some of you lot just read the paper and believe it. Trust me on this one, we wil not sign a keeper to play in front of szcesney he wil be our number one. We may sign a back up. Bore off

Agree0 Disagree0

Im an Arsenal fan and I think Lloris is better than Szcezny so why dont we keep Szczesny as a reserve for a few seasons?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are in for loris then he would be number 1 as he is alot better tha shez.

Shez has all the assets to become one of the best keepers in the world but i still think he need to learn from an experianced goalie like Loris.

Scottish gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

This wouldnt suprise me as AW always been big fan of his and with both the flappers gone and going and mannone wanting to move on for action it seems very likely

Agree0 Disagree0

Hugo lloris has agreed move for 12.3 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Can you really see wenger paying 12+m for a keeper i don't think so!!! Wenger is well know to keep faith in his players, so expect szcesney still to be no.1. this rumour going around is just lloris agent drawing interest to his client

Agree0 Disagree0

Get lloris i say hes a better keeper than what weve had since seaman. although 12 mil is abit ova top and wenger dont like spending thats why we struggle for silverware

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite the most unlikely and ridiculous speculative "rumour" ever on here.
(A) Why when we have Szczesny in whom AW has immense faith
(B) Hmm, say Lloris's current employers, let's get rid of our international keep, take Fabianski and bank some cash. The only attractive bit of this is cash
(C) AW is of course well known for spendin £12m on anyone, let alone a back up.
(D) For all those clamouring for an experienced back-up for Szczesny (me included) there are many options, much cheaper, more available and equally capable of adding something to Szczesny in terms of knowledge, pressure and learning
(E) oh that's enough...

Max Farnham

Agree0 Disagree0

They are looking 30 millon for him

Ed, is there any interest in javi martinez as an option for dcm? {Ed022's Note - Even if there was it wouldn't make a difference, as Wenger would never ever pay the fee.}

Believable14 Unbelievable2

03 Jul 2012 19:10:27
Eds, is there any news on Squillaci going to Olympiakos? Heard a rumour about that the other day as they are much more willing to pay him what he wants than Bastia was. Thanks.

Alabama Gooner {Ed022's Note - I haven't heard anything, but I will see if I can find out.}

Believable13 Unbelievable8

Heard Leicester want him as back up

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Theo to Chelsea for 6 million and Romelu Lukaku.....

2. VP to sign a new contract next week.

3. A possible bid to be made for Santos play-maker Ganso in the region of 12-15 million. He has a release clause of 40 million.

The Insider

Believable11 Unbelievable47

I highly doubt we would want Lukaku if RVP is signing a new contract, we'd have 4 strikers then; Podolski, Giroud, RVP, Lukaku and then not to mention Gervinho who can also play up front. I realise Pod and Giroud are possibly meant as wingers in the 4-3-3, but I still feel this is too many attacking options when what we need to focus on now is defence.

-Catscangrowbeardsallover

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes let's replace a striker on the wing with a striker who can only play CF...makes no sense.

Ibster

Agree0 Disagree0

Number 1. wud be a very good deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you called the insider because your head is up your a**e! The only one of them that has any chance of coming off is RVP signing a new contract {Ed022's Note - Hahahaha.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukaku is going on loan to West ham. And for Ganso, there were bids from Italy in the region of 30 mil+ rejected by santos. So dream on!

Agree0 Disagree0

Catscangrowbeardsallover........u r kidding me right? Giroud playing as a winger? No chance mate. Is an out and out centre forward.
Wozza {Ed022's Note - Giroud can drop out to the wings when needed, however in that position he is pretty poor to be fair. Giroud, as you said, is an out and out striker and needs to be played there if he is to be a success.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Number 2 and 3 are right up my street but number 1 I'm not so sure about. But if all 3 happened I'd have no complaints.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep theo and keep rvp these two probably created and scored most of arsenals goals last season - reward them not kick them out.
forward line of rvp, theo, pololski, giroud and gervinho is enough to win the league - we now need to improve the midfield creative centre..................

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha if RSVP signs a new contract we will reform to a 4 2 3 1 with giroud up top podolski left Walcott right and RSVP behind giroud now that would be a forward line to dream off Walcott is not the best but he can rip teams apart and will support them all with goals lol now we need a DMC and defender

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly, I said it's possible to play Giroud as a winger.. not that he would play there. But it's an option.. you wouldn't replace Theo (a winger) with an out and out forward like Lukaku, 'cos he would flail so bad on the wing. If the Theo for Lukaku deal had come about before we'd signed Pod and Giroud, I could have felt somewhat better about it.. but not now.

And secondly, I totally agree with the last poster about the 4-2-3-1 formation.. that would be prefect given the team we have right now. We'd have cover in the Ox and Gerv for both wings.. and Pod and Giroud could interchange for the striker up top. I feel RVP would work extremely well as a deep lying forward, creative player.. rather than the poacher he's been deployed out and out as since he got here. Especially since he's starting to get on now.. he's not far off 30 and past his physical peak.

-Catscangrowbeardsallover.

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont need theo/ he will never live up to the billing he once had

gervinho ox. myo.

m.villa in right back/cb and left back/ cb that way we hav cover for sagna gibbs and players who can play centre back also

djourou out santos out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats wat u would like to happen
