Podolski will be in an Arsenal kit by Jan! F.C. Koln are releasing statements saying they will negotiate a new contract for Podolski in Dec but this is just to drive up the price. Podolski is rumoured to be handing in a transfer request should Koln hold up the move, as he wants a move to Arsenal to further his career. Expect a deal in the region of 12 to 15 mil.

Believable16 Unbelievable19

I hope so this should have happened years ago

pato looks the most likely striker to come to arsenal as AC milan want to off lode him. arseanl could bid 35million for him in jan

Believable12 Unbelievable29

Ha ha I wish

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes not worth 35 mill specialy if ac want rid as u r saying and wenger wouldnt pay that much for messi never mind pato , if ac rearly want rid they can load him us seeing as they load alot them selfs over the years

tony too

Agree0 Disagree0

We bid 35 million for goetze so there is a chance for a young talent who he can sell for 50 million in a year or so after playing well for us

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would anyone want to 'offload' a player worth 35m?

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he is doing Silvios daughter.

I have three Arsenal rumours:

[1] Marco Reus will not be coming to Arsenal in January unfortunately. Reports in Germany state that he is very interested in Bayern and Bayern, always looking for German talents, are said to see Reus as the solution to Robben's extended absences and his eventual successor.

[2] Lukas Podolski is unlikely to join Arsenal in January. Reports in Germany claim that he will enter contract extension talks with FC Köln before Christmas and will be tied down long term to the club.

[3] Brek Shea, young American midfielder, is training with Arsenal in the MLS off season. Although the report doesn't specify if Shea is on a trial at Arsenal, he has caught the attention of several big European clubs with his performances in recent months.

----

I'm a German living in the United States now and I've watched several US international matches in recent months and I can say that this kid has a lot of ability; much more so than any other young American player coming up.

For those of you who have never seen him... Brek Shea is a left midfielder with an incredible work rate, he's a good crosser, has very close ball control (only American in existence who does), he's strong, plays well against top international opponents (very confident), and has quick feet which he uses to run at opponents 1vs1 to either beat them or quickly lay the ball off to a teammate for a give and go.

I'm not suggesting Arsenal will buy him, but he would be a good (and very cheap) signing in January. He will be the first American football "star". Signing Brek Shea would also mean spreading Arsenal influence throughout the 330+ million American neutrals which is something I'm sure the Arsenal board is very aware of.

~~~Mad Jens Jr.~~~
Believable33 Unbelievable2
The first American star? Have you forgotten the other Americans who play in Europe?
Clint Dempsey is technically one of the best dribblers I have seen in the Premier League. He is certainly a real game-changer and a Fulham hero.
Stuart Holden is class as well, at least when he isn't injured the entire season.
Anyone in America knows the name Landon Donovan, who proved himself very well at Everton.
The slew of American goalkeepers in England should tell you something.
Let's not forget the star that never blossomed - Freddy Adu. He was the "hope for American Soccer" and certainly a bright talent.
I admit Brek is talented but he is not the first. All the rest of the talented Americans just play in Europe now.
A Texas Gooner
Agree0 Disagree0
Reus is a big Arsenal fan, fact. dont talk b****cks. You dont have a clue what Wenger will do like everyone here. Think main targets are Goetze, Erisken, Mvila, Hazard, Podolski, Tevez. wouldnt be surprised these Pato rumours have legs. He wanted Jovetic.
Agree0 Disagree0
@ first post...
Those American players are decent Premier League players and they may be the best Americans now but nobody in Europe thinks twice about them when they hear their names. They're just above average. Certainly not good enough to play for any Champions League clubs. Yes, Arsenal was linked to Dempsey during the summer but we were linked to everybody and he would have been a depth signing, nothing more.
And I wasn't including goalkeepers. The American goalkeepers are very good.
----------
@ second post...
These rumours are from German news reports and what most people in Germany believe will happen. I'm not stating my opinion on them, I'm stating what is most likely to happen.
The fact that you posted our main targets and included Götze, Hazard, and Tevez just shows you are very bias and not looking at it from a logical standpoint. Götze and Hazard will command massive transfer fees that only the big spending European clubs can afford. Arsenal cannot win bidding wars with these teams. And Tevez? Look at our current wage structure and please explain how his wages compare. Not to mention his horrible attitude making an already expensive player a massive risk.
Brek shea will join arsenal the old fernando toress
People talking up the likes of hazard need to think - we are so well stacked on wide positions - Arshavin, Walcott, Gervinho, AOC, Miyaichi, Rosicky and benayoun at a push - way too many wide players already.
Midfield - wilshire/ramsay/arteta/song - thats 4 first teamers pushing for 3 places - not including the back ups like Diaby and Frimpong/Coquelein.
So the only place i could possibly imagine him buying is a forward - but with the system we play, and RVP a certain starter any time, and park only bought 3 months ago, i very much doubt we'll see anything bar a promising kid or 2 in Jan.
Believable31 Unbelievable3
Players get tired and aoc and Miyaichi are not ready yet plus the competition is good
Agree0 Disagree0
Also Which One Of Those Players Would You Field Against Madrid And Think Yeahh There Gonna Get Us Goals
Agree0 Disagree0
Yeah but Rob Arshavin and Rosicky really need to be sold, AOC isn't ready to be first choice, nor is Ryo...we need a bit of an overhaul, get them out and get one sick player in.
News just in regarding Robin Van Persie. Man Utd will secure his services in January with Ferdinand, Owen and Carrick moving the other way. Wenger unhappy with the heirarchy agreement as he is adamant he can keep RVP. The powers above are not willing to fall into another Fabregas or Nasri situation as they feel this unsettled the team. Arsenal will cut their losses and attempt to rebuild a youthful squad with these three ageing superstars of yesteryear.
Believable4 Unbelievable77
Errr....so we will build a youthful squad by signing 3 over 30's?
try again sunshire.
Ahahhahaaaaa.
ahaha.
oh dear...
Agree0 Disagree0
Laugh you may , but soon the last laugh will be on you!
Wenger reminds me of that fish climbing a tree at the moment. Little tail flapping and face puffing but going nowhere.
Let's imagine this team coming to The Emirates to meet you post RVP.
GK - Lehman
LB - Clichy
CB - Campbell
CB - Kolo Toure
RB - Eboue
LM - Reyes
CM - Fabregas
CM - Diarra
RM - Nasri
CF - Adebayor
CF - Henry
Bench: Richard Wright, Traore, Senderos, Hleb, Eduardo, Muamba, Silva and Ashley Cole.
You praise you manager and your board and what have they done. Given you a team that would be massive outsiders if the one above came to The Emirates. They spent fortunes on an impressive stadium focussed on aesthetics and maximising profit, but did anyone even try to think of the fans in the design I ask. Small uncomfortable seats crammed in to maximise revenues, and woeful acoustics failing to help create the atmosphere that the club so desparately needs.
Can any Gooner seriously compare the side above and honestly tell me that the current shambolic squad could seriously contend with that team?
Please come forward and intelligently state your case, because I doubt there is one single knowledgable fan who would dare put his name to the current team.
Agree0 Disagree0
Re above post: virtually beyond comment except that I can't help stating that Fabregas and Henry are practically above comparison and no real Gooner would do anything other than mourn their passing from our first tem for whatever rwason. Other than that, no individual is bigger than the club (nor are Fab and TH I hasten to add).
Troare? Senderos? Richard Wright? Don't waste the skin on your fingers typing such dross.
Ever Heard Of Players Move On they Get Old Or They Want A Different Challenge About three Of those Players Are In Any Contention For A Title So Let's Be Seriously Youve Just Made That Up
Agree0 Disagree0
So what you are saying is yes those who left are different class to your current squad and you admit it. Then take the massive transfer fees you relatively recieved for those players leaving like Henry all those years ago, Fabregas and Nasri of late, and stop and think for yourself a moment ithout letting Wenger ad Co bend your minds.
Every club loses players but take your biggest rivals down the road. They lost players like Sol Campbell, Berbatov and sold Taarabt, Tainio, routledge, Lee, Rasiak, Davids, Murphy, Ghaly, Zokora, Dervitte, Malbranque, Chimbonda, Mido Rocha, O'Hara, Bent, Crouch, Keane, Palacios and Hutton.
But they brought in Modric, Adebayor, Bale, Defoe, Van Der Vaart, Lennon, Parker, Friedel, Krancjar, Gomes, Gallas, Bassong, Kaboul, Rose, Assout Ekotto, Kyle Walker, Kyle Naughton, Huddlestone and Dawson.
You can see clearly why rsenalhave fallen from grace. They have consisteny lost superstars and dilluted the team with average players. Spur have done the reverse losing many average or poor players and bringing in real class acts.
the result of the last 6 years has seen Arsenal gradually decline albeit impressively holding onto their past, as Spurs and Chelsea got stronger and stronger.
Stop being biased and respond with facts or sensible opinions. Arsenal senior management has failed you all and it is time to admit it.
Agree0 Disagree0
Nasri, clichy and toure are all competing for the prem this season with city. Henry won the champions league, fabregas will win the champions league this year, lehman retired, cambell retired, diarra is in a side 10x better than ours at the moment, adebayor is a mercenary and reyes/eboue are playing at their level.
Agree0 Disagree0
"real class acts"
then waffles on about Gallas, Gomes, Rose
I said back in the summer, Arsenal were interested in Brek
Shea, a highly rated Dallas & USA midfielder he didn't sign
though, but he has agreed to a one month trial
Believable17 Unbelievable2
Totally believable and yet another 'WHO' player to join the club. When will Wenger start realising he got lucky with a crop of players in the past, and his eye for talent is no better than any other manager.
The Curious Case for a Striker.
Just under two months until the january transfer window opens and the transfer rumours are flying.
I for one dont know who we are deemed to be interested in,but alot of the crazy price tagged players will go to the big money clubs.
I think the departures of certain players is inevitable.
Almunia, Squillachi, Arshavin and Chamakh maybe made available in the january transfer window. with possibly, diaby, bendtner (to be finally sold) denilson ( released ) and Vela ( to be sold) in the summer window.
I have been reading links to wingers/midfielders lately from hazard to podolski and granero. Could be some truth to podolski and granero but i think the ship on hazard has sailed to some crazy wage which will be paid by a rich crazy club.
I have a gut feeling that wenger is going to go all out to get a striker to complement or play in the absense of RVP.
The latest rumours flying is Alexander Pato.
While he would be a star addition i think his goal rate is rather poor, he has been slammed by gf's, wife, team mates for partying too much...not sure if he is someone arsenal would need.
Believable7 Unbelievable8
Total make believe post with nothing but your own wishes in my opinion. At least you can be honest enough to cite half the team as useless or poor at best.
Forget Pato, Granero, Higuain, Hazard or anyone else world class and start focussing on how you can keep RVP, Wilshire and Vermaelen sweet as they are 3 star Amoy fat a bunch of poor players.
Agree0 Disagree0
You Keep Them Quite By Bringing In Quality
I know everyone on here is taking about Hazard, Gotze, Martin and Tevez but I have just seen on a website another name we were linked with. I know the link is probably lies but I'd like to know what Arsenal fans think. Alexander Pato.. Has had a few injuries in his short career but he is only 22. I think he is kinda over rated but could be a class player. What do u lot think?
RD
Believable12 Unbelievable18
Over-rated? thanks for the joke m8
Agree0 Disagree0
He's a good player...he would be a top 10 striker in the EPL..
Id rate
Rooney,Aguero, RVP,Suarez, Dzeko, Ballotelli, Hernandez, Drogba, Torres, And then Pato.
Pato has played 105 games for milan since he joined them in 2007, scoring 50 goals...
Besides RVP and pato do have one thing in common...they have probably had affairs with the treatment table considering the amount of time they had with it.
Goal to apperance ratio
RVP - .46
Pato -.48
The only reason i rate RVP higher this year is cause it seems he's caught fire...
Agree0 Disagree0
Overrated?
Agree0 Disagree0
Arsenal fans please stop dreaming and start being realistic. You cannot sign big name players and recent history demonstrates this point. Look back as far as 2004/2005 and let's list the stars Arsenal have signed who are still at the club: Eboue, Almunia, Rosicky , Walcott, Bendtner, Diaby, Mannone, Song, Fabianski, Eduardo, Ransey, Sagna, Arshavin, Vermaelen, Chamakh, Koscielny, Squillaci, Jenkinson, Gervinho, Oxlaide Chamberlain, Santos, Arteta, Park Cho-Young and Mertsaker.
Be honest when you ask yourselves who of all those signings in the last 7 tears you would keep. In my opinion only Vermaelen is the level required to match the fans ambition, albeit some could still mature into stars. Face the facts the days of attracting Bergkamp, Reyes and players like Pires are over. How long will Gooners continue to spout nonsense about possibly signing Higuain, Pato, Hazard and others. Why not add Messi and Tevez or perhaps Cristiano Ronaldo to your wish lists. Face up to the facts that Arsenal have beenbin decline for 7 years, and finally the wheels have come off. Junior Hoilett or perhaps Owen or Ferdinand from United or maybe Jenas and Bentley from Spurs is about the level you need to be spamming. So you carry on dreaming in your brand new shiny atmosphere void stadium, and let the big clubs get on with signing the stars.
Sorry to be so rude but it is true and someone needs to tell your to all stop dreaming
Agree0 Disagree0
I run the rsik of being shouted out of town on a site that hosts debate, but I can't even be bothered to rustle up a more intelligent comment (and I recognise thta mine isn't all that intelligent, but it simply doesn't merit intelliegnt debate, it's just too drab, puerile, ill-thought-through and uninformed) to the above, other than:
"depressive, negative, tw@t, go and support Citeh".....
Agree0 Disagree0
So what you mean is you actualy feel the pain I write about but are too small a man to admit it. Sure that is fine as the Arsneal board would love more poeple like you to put on your rose tinted glasses, buy an ice cream and dream about the last major trophy you won. You see the timeframe of decline in the squad come from 2005/6 which is exactly the period I documented. You won nothing becasue your transfer in quality was worse than what your let out, simple maths that even you guys will be able to understand.
The sad fact is the squad has never been worse than it is today and I predict a finish outside of the top 6. Man City, Man utd, Chelsea, Tottenham & Liverpool will fill the top 5 and the sixth spot is a close call between Newcastle, Villa, Sunderland, Stoke & Arsenal.
Ed Any Truth Behind Podolski Rumour {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest from Arsenal.}
Believable19 Unbelievable6
Got confused, meant to perhaps reply to this post not Colney's, sorry all!
Raz
Agree0 Disagree0
Podolski is the perfect player for Arsenal. You offer more than FC Koln and he has been vastly under-rated for years. 50% striker rate internationally should open doubters eyes, still young at 26 and current form looks impressive.
A massive signing who is certainly more realistic than some of the total nonsense others have posted.
Agree0 Disagree0
Ed 002 please can you reveal who you know of arsenals interest and if you can how likely do think it is to happen and what would the fee be? {Ed002's Note - Much of it is speculation right now, but there is interest in Podolski replacing Marouane Chamakh with perhaps Moussa Sow and Doumbia providing options. Doumbia would likely be very expensive. However much Arsenal may want Goetze I think he, like Hazard, will end up elsewhere. Granero and Marin seems good options for midfield with Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko an alternative Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this year but unless Arshavin and Rosicky wer to go Arsenal will likely stick with AOC to give width.}
