He's been a bit shaky for a long time and he's not getting any younger or cheaper. If we're gonna spend any money on CBs this summer I would hope it would be for someone younger and hungrier. I don't think Wenger will spend enough to bag Mbiwa from a side that is about to cash in on the CL but there's a 19 year old, Okore I think, at Nordsjaelland that sounds like a treat, and I hope someone at Arsenal had an eye on that league last season.

Not only is he 38, he retired in July 2011!
Whilst on the subject of Besiktas left backs, though, I'm wondering if we have any interest in Ismail Koybasi. He's 22, very energetic, good on the ball and starting to establish himself in the Turkish national side. Would be good competition for Gibbs (Santos is more of an attacking winger in my book).
Seeing as we may be selling them a very talented youngster, Ozyakup, maybe we could snap up a player who would give us much needed cover in the left full-back position.

Arsenal are in Negotiation with Real Madrid about Nuri Sahin.
Arsenal are close to finalize deals with Oliver Giroud and Yann mvila.
Official offer has been sent to Toulouse about Aymen Abdennour.
I work as a programmer at the Emirates so i can get around a little of the transfer dealings. What confuses me is that both Yann Mvila and Sahin are coming in and talks about contracts extension with Alex song has began must mean rosiscky or diaby is leaving :(
What other possible way is there ?
Believable31
Unbelievable24
I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Song were to leave, especially as there was rumoured interest from Real Madrid.
Maybe Sahin to Arsenal and Song to Madrid?
Abdennour is class by the way, would be an excellent signing.

Ypsigooner

Considering we have to keep a minimum amount of home grown players in the squad I couldn't see both Diaby and Song leaving, but out of the two I think it'd have to be Diaby to go considering how injury prone he is and seeing as Rosicky just signed a new contract recently.
Could just be a way of pressuring Song into signing a new contract?

Agree0

I don't necessarily WANT Song to to go (I think a lot of the criticism he gets is unwarranted) but he apparently has quite high wage demands and if we do sign a DM, whether it's M'Vila or someone else, I can see us cashing in.
Stezza.
Agree0
Disagree0
Your post is poorly thought out, stezza. Of course Song has high wage demands;
A: All footballers in the premier league have high demands, its rediculous, but its reality.
B: If we want Arsenal to challenge for titles, then paying big wages to top performers is unfortunately essential for success.
C: Arsenal play at the top of the game, in the champions league every year. Why would we not pay top wages to Alex song?
D: To replace Alex song with someone of equal or greater talent, would require the same or higher wages on them instead.
Agree0
Disagree0
Sahin would be a bit of a dream buy, but doesn't really solve any of our problems and would have to replace someone. Diaby would be an ideal sell-off, but who would ever buy him? Sahin also won't leave without some guarantee of being a first teamer after his fallow season in madrid, and his departure almost guarantees that RM hijack our deal for M'vila or takes Song from us instead.
Honestly, I really have no idea why they would want Song, who doesn't fit in the slot next to Xabi at all and wouldn't get time in front of Khedira. Maybe they're just rotating out backups this season? Lassana Diarra looks like he might be leaving too.

Arsenal looking to bid for Marco Fabian after he impressed in Toulon for Mexico. Will be funded by the sale of fellow Mexican Carlos Vela. Arsenal reported to have been watching Alan Pulido and Erick Torres at the Toulon Football Festival.
Believable13
Unbelievable21
Erick Torres is class. FACT.
Agree0

I don't think Erick Torres was in the squad for the tournament but is likely to feature at the Olympics where Mexico face South Korea, Gabon and Switzerland. Torres and Pulido both looked pretty good at last years u20 World Cup.
Hector Herrera is another excellent prospect in the current crop of exciting Mexican youngsters, player of the tournament in Toulon. I know that Gilles Grimandi has definitely attended Toulon in previous years so if he was there this year I would imagine some of these players may well have caught his eye as Mexico won the tournament.
All of these young Mexicans are interesting players for the future, they're well worth watching closely at London 2012.

I think Vela and Gio Dos Santos' travails in England might burn us pretty bad in going after really young Mexican talent. Their success in the national team really makes the London clubs look stupid for not giving them more of a run in the side, and any one of those kids would want more of a chance to make an impression in europe than a run in the carling cup. If we're going to make an offer we'll need to give them serious tlc a la chicharito.

Martin seems to be heading in a different direction to the emerites! Seems like all the good am's are getting snapped up and while we're still looking, let's just hope Wilshere comes back the same player cos if he does a Ramsey we are seriously stuffed
Believable14
Unbelievable12
People need to stop giving Rambo such a hard time, he was playing with song in a more defensive role last season, he is naturally an attacking midfielder, just look at the goals he scored before his injury.
For me he is definitely a player who will dominate our attacking play in the future and I personally believe he has the qualities to be twice the player Cesc was
Agree0
Disagree0
First of all I wasn't meaning to slate Ramsey cos I still believe he's a good player with huge potential, but wilshere wasn't just potential he was the real deal, easily one of our best players and one of the best in the league
Secondly, twice as good as cesc?? Your either as mad as the mad hatter or still seriously bitter about the whole cesc situation

StEvE
Agree0

Utterly disagree with the comment about peopole stopping giving Ramsey a hard time. Watched him so many times this season and whilst undoubtedly a good technical player, he won't ever be able to get near fabregas. One simple reason (and watch him next season - you'll realise) is that he only figures out what he's going to do with the ball when he's got it at his feet. RVP and others always said Fabregas knew what he was going to do well before anyone else, for the simple reason that he decides before he receives the ball, meaning the fluidity is always maintained. Watch spain - when they're at their best the players don't hesitate in their actions. That's the english teams massive failing, it's always so ponderous due to lack of foresight and imagination. Ramsey unfortunately has the same problem...

No, he isn't, in our national newspapers and on our national sportprogrammes, people can't believe there's interest for him, he slows the game down and it is considered to be a great deal for Anderlecht if they'll be able to get more than 3 mil for him.
I personally don't rate him either and I've watched matches of the jupiler pro league. I have to admit however he and Anderlecht had some great games in the europa league.

With all the clubs around us strengthening their squads (Chelsea-Hazard) (United-Kagawa) (Us-Podolski)
What's going to be our season objectives for the coming season?
For me personally Id say this should be our objectives with the teams above us/below us are spending:
1:Top four
2:Close the gap to the Manchester clubs (not hopeful about this one)
3:Win the League Cup/FA cup
Eman.
Believable27

Realistically at the present we are nowhere near the Manchester clubs and with Chelsea strengthening we will be nowhere near them to. Harsh but 4th spot and the Fa cup is about the best we can dream for
Agree0

Close the gap to the manchester clubs, you have no idea we have proper objectives, these ambitions match clubs like spuds and chelski
Agree0
Disagree0
Realistically we should never have been so far behind the Manchester clubs on points anyway.. we lost to s**tty teams we expected to beat because we underestimated them. And if you recall, we beat most of the "top" teams at least once, bar United. The other teams might be strengthening their squads, but they do that every year. We generally don't.. not with top players anyway. With the signing of Podolski already done, it's evident that we're taking a stronger approach to transfers this year.
We just have to make sure we take EVERY team seriously, and not just the ones we deem a threat beforehand. We'll easily be a s**t load closer to the number one spot if we do.

Agree0

Its a necessity that we are in the title race for most of the season, even if we dont win it, at least we will be guarantees top 4 as the competetion is so high.
Agree0
Disagree0
Unfortunately the ambitions/priorities of the fans and the management are very different. For the fans it's:
1. Address those positions on the pitch where we are obviously deficient by shipping out the dead wood.
2. Replace the dead wood with players of the requisite quality (even if it means spending more than we would ideally like).
3. Get someone in who can actually coach defending.
For the management it's:
1. Grab as much money as we can for the shareholders by selling our best players as soon as someone shows an interest in them.
2. Spend as little as humanly possible on replacements (unless we get humped 8 - 2 just before the window closes, in which case panic buy the last turkeys in the shop).
3. Fleece as much cash as possible out of the fans by rasing ticket prices and charging a fortune for official club tat.
Sad, but true. However, by the end of this coming season they might get shaken out of their complacency by failure to qualify for the CL. We only got 3rd place this year due to the flakiness of our main rivals and they may not be quite so generous this time round.
Agree0

I can't see Man U, being as good as last year unless they sort out thier def and mid problems. I have felt like this before with Man U and they always seem to perform above what thier playing staff seem capable off. I do think that thier ordinary players can't continue to over perform and they will be found out. Man City will be strong of course and Chelsea seem to mean business, but remember they have to, Terry , lampard past thier best and the have already released thier best and most effective player- Drogba. Arsenal, will Jack back and Diaby back, if we can keep at least some of our back 4 fit, keep RVP and add a bit of quality in mid i think we will be allot closer to the top that most people will think and have a bit of strenght in depth. It's alot of if's and but's but thats football!

Realistically he's not going to get a decent run with our current team next season, unless we offload a couple of wingers.. which to be honest I don't see happening, apart from Arshavin. So loaning him out to a team like Southampton will be great. You saw this season just how fearless the recently promoted teams have become. In my opinion it's a better idea than loaning him out to Bolton again, or even an already settled Premiership team. It will also help to give him fight rather than complacency.
