Thanks Ed001 for the info regarding Wenger leaving this summer did your mate tell you who's the boards favourite is to take over. {Ed001's Note - no, sorry, just that he was expecting a fresh start, someone completely new. He did point out Moyes is stalling on a new contract, but neither of us can see him being the option taken. However, you never know in football, so many times things I have thought will never happen, do happen and shock me!}

Believable3 Unbelievable22

Please Wenger stay, the job is yours for life, we love u.

Moyes makes no sense as a replacement. He is a good manager but he would be more of the same.

Overview of Moyes:
*manages to achieve a good league table finish every season on a shoe string budget
*has never won a single trophy with Everton

He's done fantastic given so little but really he'd just be picked by the board to make them more money (because he can achieve good finishes with little money given to him) and because he is able to tolerate playing many seasons without winning trophies so he won't demand the board give him greater financial support.

Makes perfect sense from a profiteering standpoint but it makes no sense for winning trophies.

Agree1 Disagree0

So harsh on Moyes - he finished 7th last season and the one before. And that is with a squad half the size of ours. I would love to see what Moyes could do with a £150m wage bill, a full squad and the ability to make multiple £15m signings. He has never had those things and if anything being at Everton so long has been to his detriment. He deserves nothing more than the resources afforded to top 4 managers and whilst he isn't my first choice, he was once and is easily my second. You think Moyes would piss £150m up the wall every year like Wenger and play poor Rambo at RW and Podolski at LW? Would he balls. Also another major point is there have been times throughout every season in the last 6 years where the players' loyalty to our manager has been questioned and their desire to turn up has been in serious doubt. I don't think in the history of his managerial career this has ever happened with Moyes and that says a lot. He might be downbeat but his team fight every single game every season no matter who the players are. I would choose Moyes over Klopp because he's been in this league for years whereas Klopp has a team of stars dominating a league where Wigan would finish top 6 in all likelihood. There's just no comparison.

So that's my head talking. However my head also says his style seems to translate over to Man U more than us and he deserves that job if they won't offer someone like Jose the job. My head also has to give credit to Klopp who has developed his players very well and bought extremely well. he is a manager on the up for sure and his playing style perhaps is more Arsenal then Moyes.

My heart says Laudrup because he is a legendary manager in the making and he is on the up. His style is way more the Arsenal way too. Someone made a really good point that it is the club's job to scout managers and snap them up and the only way for him is up. I think he and Arsenal are a perfect match. It's the style, the class, the coaching, the scouting, combined with his status. He's come over here toa mid table team, made them one of the most exciting teams in the league, a real wildcard for the best teams to face, and he's won a trophy. He's not afraid to put faith in youth either and he would make amazing use of our academy. No million loans for kids who will never get a shot. Everyone around him wants to be around him and I would be buzzing if he came in as manager, but would be happy with all 3. What I would hate is if we sign some random manager who really hasn't done much but has some funky name.

XD LOL u guys really think that Wenger will move on XD he is the best for this job and is 100% backed by the board and the players. he will NOT leave. DonÄt know why Ed01 is sparking this bulls**t here.

edd 01, I see you saw that a member of staff is leaving, I've heard that its going to be steve bould. Is that what you have also heard {Ed001's Note - it was Bould who I was referring to, yes.}

Believable28 Unbelievable1

I am sure that Steve Bould would have sorted our defence out had he been allowed. The is the worst back four that we have had in years and it is down to the defence that we are potless again. Poor marking at Bradford (yes, the team who got hammered by Swansea) cost us the game and mistake after mistake lost us the match against Blackburn. I feel sorry for the offensive players because they must be furious by the incompetence at the back. I say Wenger should be the one to go as he is too powerful at the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

What a wasted opportunity - that says it all. AW just looking for a yes man then.

Agree2 Disagree0

Should be Wenger. What a shambles, took years to replace Rice and just months for Bould, Disgrace.

Agree1 Disagree0

I wish Wenger would go.

ed001 is there a chance that usmanov is behind these take over rumours?

i think there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. {Ed001's Note - I have always believed that Usmanov will not stop until he owns the club and I do believe that he has a hand in these rumours as well.}

Believable25 Unbelievable2

ED, re Usmanov desires for Arsenal, he had a chance to buy Lady "whats it" Smith when she was hawking her shares world wide with no takers for 18 months or so
History Man {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I know nothing of that at all.}

ed001 iv read in places that you believe we are getting a new manager next year. you don't have to give names but is their anyone being considered as a top target or maybe even agreed? and if this is the case do you think it will be a good appointment? {Ed001's Note - I don't know, all I know is from a member of the coaching staff at Arsenal, he told a very good friend of his that he expected it to be all change in the summer. That he doesn't expect to still be there next season and that he expects this to be Wenger's final season in charge. I am not sure whether he is expecting a takeover, with the new owner/s wanting their own man in charge, or if he knows that Wenger has plans to move on in the summer of his own accord. My gut feeling is that Wenger has decided to move on, knowing that Madrid will be looking for a new manager, and that one of the main rivals for the job, Rafa, has done himself no favours at Chelsea, this could be the time for him to finally take up their offer. Though City might still be a possibility, they have approached him a number of times, Mancini is hanging on by a thread, it wouldn't be a surprise if he went there either.}

Believable8 Unbelievable16

City fans won't be happy to see Mancini replaced by Wenger!

Agree1 Disagree0

Hi ed001

your reply to this post is very interesting.

if the powers to be know he's going in the summer and with the take over talk who is looking at the club to employ the next manager?

i suppose we can forget about any of the rumours on players coming in until we know who owns the club and who is the manager.

regards {Ed001's Note - no new owner would want a manager with so much power, well not when they are failing to win trophies. Any potential owner will no doubt have sounded out possible replacements, but that's saying they can convince Kroenke to sell. If no takeover is happening, then Wenger is choosing his successor, which I find extremely strange. Though that would explain why the coaching staff would expect to be moving on, if they know Wenger is preparing ground for his replacement. I just don't see how any manager gets himself into a position where he is responsible for everything, even in what happens after he leaves!}

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see there being a new manager until wenger wins a final trophy

the goon

Agree1 Disagree1

Well ed001 I was all ways right about the power wenger had at the club.

it amazes me how blind some supporters have been since dein left.

this was going on well b4 kroenke and gazidas took over at the club.

i hate there is a chance kroenke could walk away with a £400 mill profit for 3-4 years of doing nothing at the club and supported by that c*** wenger.

i am so F****** annoyed and so should every arsenal supporter.

as I said yesterday we the arsenal fan let it get this far

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't mind who comes in, as long as they can see the obvious deficiencies in our tactics. Having see Bale and Lennon rip through our ponderous back four, we had better get our calculators out for the trip to Bayern as this could be very embarrassing.

Agree0 Disagree0

The goon

we will have to wait another 8 years for a trophy.

Agree0 Disagree2

Wenger has next season left on his contract and I cannot see him leaving until his contract has expired. I also know coaches at AFC and Wenger never talks openly about this type of subject but one thing is for sure if we have a take-over I would suspect Wenger will be asked to step down as he looks knackered and lost and has not won anything for 8yrs

Agree0 Disagree2

That is not giong to happen

Agree0 Disagree0

If Wenger steps down, it will be to move into an advisory position upstairs. But finding someone as good or better will be tough.
Ferguson won't leave Man U
Pep just went to Munich
Mourinho won't go to team where he can't spend big. Neither will Mancini or
Klinsmann? Bob Bradley might be an interesting choice, but I doubt he's on the radar.
Raneri? Ancelotti? Blanc? Dechampes?
Maybe Henry or Zidane would be interesting, but I think they would want to work under Wenger first.
