Would you be happy to blow 46m of our 50m budget on Schneiderlin? That's a big Commitment leaving nothing in the tank for pudding....
{Ed025's Note - no chance he would cost that SY..

Nope, reaistically he is worth around £15m, but I believe we should consider going up to £25m to secure a proven Premier League player who is only 25 years of age and would fit the team's needs perfectly. I would use the remaining reported £25m of our budget to buy a replacements for Szczesny & Monreal. We would of course recieve some additional funds by selling these two players, as well as anything we receive by selling Jenkinson, Campbell, Podolski, Arteta, Flamini & Sanogo.

25m fee plus 5 year contract = circa 46m
{Ed002's Note - You are confusing the concept of a "transfer budget" with the total cost of a player to the club whilst ignoring a lot of other costs that would be associated with a purchase. It is best to try and avoid financial matters as it does nothing but confuse folks.}

SY4 I thought that's what u meant when you quoted that. However as ed said its best for people like us to not even think of things like that as it's far too complicated to get your head around. Think we can only see and know the basic cost of a player. All the other fees would just vary and be confusing

No numbers: spending the core of of our transfer budget on a top top modern physical DM who can shield, move the ball and pass with intelligence, and then spend the rest on a top keeper and whatever else we can do to improve the squad, possibly an out and out winger, I would agree with that. So payin 'over the odds' for Schneiderlin or equivalent is ok by me. I am impressed with le coq so far though; but we need two DMs of slightly different qualities so we can adjust to different teams.

It isn't that confusing. When clubs talk about a transfer budget, they mean the entire cost to the club from that signing. Unfortunately, fans only think in simple transfer fee terms.
When Southampton sold £100 million worth of players, their fans assumed the £100 million was there to spend on fees alone. It wasn't and events proved that. A large proportion of that £100 million was allocated to wages, signing on fees, insurance and agent fees etc etc.
Don't forget if we sign Schneiderlin for £20 million, that fee isn't paid up front. It used to be paid over the length of the contract signed. More recently, the rules have changed to 2 years maximum.
