Really Jermain? I just dnt see it in all honesty. I dnt rate Koscienly at all, but obviously as a fan I want him to prove me wrong. If anything when Vermaelen is back I reckon Wenger will stick with Koscienly anyway.

And whats with the Beckham signing, publicity stunt much? I know its only been 7 days, but I thought Spurs would be looking to bring in top class signings quickly?

Thirstly Almunia is going to go for definate, he should be flying of to spain for a medical at Osuana by the end of next week. No keeper is coming in as Wenger thinks Fabbianski has come of age, Szescny has done awesome when called apon and Mannone is on fire at Hull and may be recalled.
Vermaelen wil be back by late Jan or early feb so I don't see a CB been brought in ( unless Kos, Squil or Djourou get a long term injury ). Shame really cause Mertersacker is gonna get snapped up by Liverpool if we lose interest ( which we have ).

Ins this Jan:

Jap Kid ( can't and won't attempt to spell name )
Connor Wickam
Aaron Ramsey ( recall )
Mannone ( recall )

Outs this Jan:

Manuel Almunia
Carlos Vela ( loan )

We hate Scoussers

Can we stick to rumours here please? If I wanted to read sh1te banter (which I dont) I can go on the banter forum, or listen to my non-Arsenal mates. And stop slagging the Ed. Yes he is a Liverpool fan, but even if you disagree with him, he is saying nothing nasty. You give Arsenal fans a bad name!

As for rumours, we won't buy anyone except possibly tie up a deal for Hazard in the summer.

I have come to realise than neither Squillaci or Koscielny are good enough to wear the shirt. However, the problem is not as bad as thought due to the return of Djourou. Read these facts:

Arsenal have 8 wins and 1 draw in the 9 games Djourou has played in. 4 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses in 12 games where Djourou hasn't played.

He also has 4 clean sheet in those 9 games where Arsenal have 6 in total.

Unbeaten in the last 21 league games that Djorou has played in.

Click believable if you are fan a Djourou.

Guys lets face it, our squad at the moment won't win the league.

but we are nearly there

we just need to get rid of deadwood and replace it with freshwood

for instance:
chamakh does everything that bendtner does but a lot better( that is what we should start to do in the upcoming transfer windows just replace old rusty players with new younger better players
these are the swaps we should make:
bendtner ajax 7m(already done 1 part of it by getting chamakh we just need to offload bendtner

OUT
squillaci PSG 3m
IN
sakho/mertesacker 8m plus add ons/6m

OUT
denilson wolfsburg 9m
IN
vertonghen ajax 12m

OUT
arshavin barca/real madrid 15m

IN
Hazard 17m

the fabregas issue is different because he is our key figure but we can let him go if barca dangle 35m at us because in nasri, diaby, wilshire, ramsey and rosicky we are certainly not short of cover

On caughtoffside there is a report of Micah Richards wanting to leave with Arsenal and Chelsea as contenders. Personally i would welcome Richards big strong fast and looks dangerous while attacking at times. Also he is versatile and can play midfield or centre back. Probably won't happen but honestly this is a chance Arsene should not pass down could really help our squad in my opinion sorting 2 weaknesses at once and offering potential in most areas at 22 hes still young. Exactly what we need.

ED, do you think arsene wenger will buy hazard in summer

{Editor Note: Hazard is keen on Arsenal. Whether Wenger would splash out the £20m or so it would take to get him is debatable.}

I think some of the comments are crazy. In a team like Arsenal if we had 2 'wingbacks' we would just concede more. The problem with Clichy especially and Sagna on occasion is that positionally they get caught sleeping, which is why top teams not only catch us out with set pieces but also on the break. Sagna has been 1 of the most consistant performers this season, he has a balance of defending and attacking.

Based on statistics most of our goals come down our LEFT SIDE! I hope people realise this.

Like people have said, its about a balance and a need for a cohesive defensive unit. Barce can get away with playing 2 wing backs because they have 2 top class C.B's and play a high pressing game where by the whole team is involved in the defending. That has not been Arsenal's game until recently.

Sagna is the best fit for our defence, hes only weakness is that he doesn't cut in and get involved with the play as much. But when we have attack minded wingers like Walcott, Arshavin and Nasri you need 2 full-backs who are defensive orientated.

All of the arsenal fans on this website liv in coocoo land thinking that we are going to spend all this money when we know that wenger is not a big spender, but saying that wenger has already stated in an interview on sky sports news that because of the extent of thomas vermaelan injury he may be forced to buy a new central defender in the january transfer window.so expect players to only leave the likes of denilson and vela have been rumoured to be on thier way out of the emirates stadium.

((to ed, iv read that you have stated a couple times that arsenal are in desperate need of a right back well in fact in the past 2 seasons bacary sagna has been one of the most consistent players in that position in the premier league))

Like to just go over a few things, firstly all the "fans" that say Arsene needs to go are dellusional. The man is a Hero just look at everything he has done for the club, not just on the pitch but off as well, do you honestly think we would be playing our home games in a 65000 seater stadium without him in charge? his politics on football are spot on with the way clubs should be run and who would replace him?? ? look at all the clubs that have changed managers where are they?
I also agree ALOT with what the Ed says, Sagna & Clichy are nothing like the players they were 2 years ago and are subject to errors, the positioning of them at times is cringe worthy. We defo need a new CB and soon! !, im still not convinced over the quality of Koscielny. I'd love to see Mertesaker come in.

In my opinion our Midfield is the best in the Premiership without a doubt! Alex Song and Nasri have come to a different quality in the past year, although we have some players there that are not pulling weight Mainly Arshavin! Dont think we need to change the Midfield much but i expect the addition of Eden Hazard in the near future and he looks like he will be a fantastic player. With that in mind i feel the promotion of Walcott to Forward would be the 25 goal a season man we so desire, we all no he can't cross the ball but he has a cool head in front goal and has taken his chances well this season (look at his goals against Blackburn and Chelsea) power and accuracy!

Now Bendtner! that guy needs to get out of our club ASAP, Chamakh does everything better. End Of!

Now to finish we all no Wenger doesn't like spending money so stop reeling off huge lists of players that we can sign in the window IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

what are your views on this Ed especially the Walcott as a forward option?

Cheers

D

p.s to the guy that said about signing Adebayor are you an Arsenal Fan, if so do you not remember he played for us before and how much of an arrogant t* t he is! wouldn't have him back if he was the last forward on the planet {ed's note - Walcott is definitely a striker, it would suit him and your whole team more. Every team you face would do what they used to against Liverpool when Owen still had pace - they dropped 5 yards deeper in defence and left more space for the midfield. Your midfield would be able to push up more and get at the opposition easier. It was the same when you had Henry as well, you were getting so much more space to play your football.}

Hey Mr. Editor, this is not a rumour but i will just like to through some thoughts with regards to Nichlas Bendtner. I fail to understand why people are always pulling ths guy down with their negative comments. Even you of all people said he is not good enough to play for Arsenal, wich i disagree. Chamakh is not one bit better than Bendtner.
The guy averages a goal every other game and he single handedly dragged us last season when Robin was out injured. He is the most natural striker this moment at Arsenal considering his positional sense in the box.
The only thing about him that he lacks is he does not use his body well for a guy as big as him but then again which of the strikers at Arsenal does.

I will bet anyone, if we put him up for sale he will not lack suitors. Bayern came asking for him not long ago, Juventus asked about him awhile ago, even Liverpool were interested in him and Wenger refused flat out. Does that not say something?

Now i will like to comment about our fullbacks. Yesterday, ED and others were criticising Sagna and Clichy that they are the weak link at Arsenal. ED went on to name Alves, Mercelo, Mariano Pernia etc. as far better full backs. Lets us analyse the role of a fullback. He should always close the gap between him and the right central defender, he should always show his man outside rather than inside, he should bomb forward at every opportunity without overdoing it and forgeting his defensive responsibilities, he should take the place of the central defenders when they go upfield to challenge for corners or set pieces etc.
Now if we consider the case of those fullbacks that ED named, they are good going forward but rubbish at defending. Alves sits on the bench while Maicon plays in the Brazillian national team simply because Maicon is a better defender than him at defending rather than always been caught out of possition like Alves and Mercelo which brings me back to Sagna.

This guy does everything that is required from a fullback. He defends well, got pace, hardly got beaten, aggressive etc.
Do not forget the golden rule of a defender which says you defender first and go forward when need be. So i will take Sagna as a fullback anyday over those wide-midfielders masquarading as fullbacks. {ed's note - in another team I would agree with you about the fullbacks, but not in Arsenal, your full backs are there to get forward and provide the width you don't get from midfield. That is why you need a wing back not a full back, Sagna becomes a weak link because of that. Have you ever heard of total football? If so you would understand what I am on about, you keep the ball away from the opposition to deny them the chance to attack.}

Another comment on the old Sagna argument sorry Ed - You talked about players working when they fit in with a squad in terms of attributes and playing to strenghs i assume - in which case sagna if not the best attacking right back in the world/league is one of the best defensivly, he was bought with the tagline 'can play all positions in a back four' and you do get the feeling he has a defensive head on him (maybe even too much). However surely that is not a hinderence but a help to arsenal, a team that needs as much help defensivly as it can get and with a midfield and attack that requires players nowadays to be extremely technically gifted. I've always rated sagna his consistency alone puts him up there with the best, you said yourself regarding chamakh you can't judge a player until you've seen them play a good few games and i don't think rafael qualifies in that case, and from what i have seen he is a bit of a glen johnson, bombs forward (but is lucky enough to have rio and vidic as opposed to koscielny and squillaci watchin his back) and he's got some disciplinary issues. {ed's note - I agree Rafael has weaknesses too, but United's system suits him and allows him to get forward. Yours does not suit Sagna with its emphasis on possession, I think you need a similar one to Rafael, Alves, even Johnson might look decent playing for you with better players. You have over 50% possession every game, you could get a lot better control over it with a right back who can help build attacks in a more controlled manner. I think that would do far more to help your defence than him being able to get back and defend. Barca don't have the best defensive players but how often do they get pushed defensively? You have to get the ball off them first!}

I think Arsenal need a big cb that has premier league experience (maybe someone like samba) a prolific goal scorer, which we have missed since henry has left (chamakh is good but not 20 goals a season, and rvp is always injured) goal keeper is not a priority unless fabianski starts making errors again and szenscy (spelling) can't handle the pressure, clichy is not needed and if gibbs can get over his injury problems he will be the perfect replacement, sagna is ok, but not amazing, but a first team rb is not priority, maybe a back up like van der wiel would be a good move. Also I would like to see a young player with flair and ability to come in, and get that rush we had when arshavin signed. But if nasri carrys on how he is playing and ryo myachi lives up to his reputation maybe it is not needed, hazard maybe a good long term replacement for arshavin. ed what do you think?

{editor: I think you are right. Your CBs have been a little average for a while now}

Ed wat do u think about the rumour agger to arsenal I actually think he's liverpools best defender And surely he will be btr than Squilaci. Agger can play lb and defensive mid I think it would be a decent sighning

{Editor Note: When Agger is at his best he really is a top defender and his tecnique is excellent for a defender. Hodgson doesn't seem to like him but I really hope Liverpool keep him. I can't see Liverpool selling to Arsenal though. Agger has many admirers abroad so if he leaves I think it'll be to another league.}
