whats the situation with michel bastos ? is he available? I remember people last year wouldnt shut up about him, and this year he hasnt gotten a mention so I thought I would do it, seeing as he is a decent player and probably (Relatively) cheap.

Daniel

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Lyon bought him for 22 million euros...cheap???

Agree1 Disagree1

Didnt know. Thanks

I think walcott should go to be honest! sell him for £24-£28 mil by a world class winger/striker

Believable8 Unbelievable9

You really think if we sold him for that amount we'd directly replace him with someone of that value??

Keep dreaming my friend.

Mind you, I completely agree with the way the club is being run... There's another recession coming.

James

Agree4 Disagree8

Dont no where u got your value from but keep dreaming! is he a striker that cant score or a winger that cant cross?

Agree3 Disagree2

Do you really think walcott is worth that much. Really, who is going to pay that for him?

Agree1 Disagree1

Liverpool have bought:
Carroll - 35m
Downing - 19m
and Henderson - 22m

i think Walcott for 24m is about a fair price

Agree4 Disagree1

Man city will!! They buy all our overated players at inflated prices lol.

Gavsta

Agree3 Disagree0

Liverpool would! Afterall they spent £20m on Henderson!

cammy out!

xxx

Agree2 Disagree1

Walcott should not be sold, he has contributed well in some games he has played. He instills fear in defenders and opposition Managers have to plan on how to handle his pace. Without him we are too predictable. Look at the Fulham game, if Walcott had been in the game after the sending off, we should have been able to offer something in attack. Because him and Gervinho had been withdrawn, we failed to attack and paid dearly for that. I wish this Walcott bashing would stop, as i see him as a very important part of the Arsenal team and age is still on his side- he can only improve.

Agree6 Disagree5

I agree, walcott is a decent winger (or wotever u want to call him) and still has room to grow, plus with henry at the club (a great freind of walcott) he can learn from a legend! i say sell him when he is about 24 or 25 when he is at his peak,

Hey guys and girls what's the story with this edin visca don't have a clue bout him can anyone tell me more

David 6

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Oh what the Bosnian who plays in Turkey?

I think he was transferred to Istanbul in the Summer so maybe next year but I wouldn't be surprised if we had been looking at him.

Gilo

Yea it says on sky sports website were looking at him shouts a typical wenger singing he's delighted anyway bout the link with us well wait and see I suppose. Is he any good though I wonder

If walcott goes would you replace him with a winger or forward or even one who plays best.
1732

Believable2 Unbelievable2

With the Ox!

Mong Out!

Agree6 Disagree2

I'd replace him with a winger who can actually do a Wingers job...

Gilo

Agree7 Disagree6

I would replace him with a winger. I don't know who, but I would not replace him with a striker as they would only get thrown on the wing anyway, like Theo and Bendtner etc etc, so yeah, a winger. but a SICK one. One who sees a defender and laughs inside knowing how easily they'r about to d!ck on them...not a winger who thinks they aren't sure they can do this...;-)
Raz

Agree3 Disagree9

He won't be going anywhere so a pointless post.

Agree9 Disagree2

This is the banter page. Why is it that every transfer window seems to draw miserable nameless c*cks who don't add any words of any value to the page but instead insist on making comments like that? Get a life ffs.
Raz

Agree3 Disagree14

It's ridiculous. People come on here and say 'Stop talking about transfers' WTF? What is this page for then if we can't actually talk about transfers?

Gilo

Agree4 Disagree5

I really dont think he will leave in january at least. im pretty sure robin van persie will play a massive part in his decision. At best i think the most action we will see is a arshavin replacement. but even thats unlikely.

Raz it its the rumour page... justsayin bro

Mikee

Agree8 Disagree2

What's rattles my cage is there are people on here who debate and then people who are just tw4ts and they never leave their name becuse they know what they're saying is just so pointless I wonder why they bothered in the first place. The is arsenal rumours not the official site, so if we want to talk about who we'd get if we sold Walcott we should be able to do it without comments like that appearing. OK? Or is that a problem too? It's not abuse it's telling someone to get a life and leave the users of this site to do so.
Raz

Agree1 Disagree15

We could replace him with someone who can actually SHOOT!!!nd score

Agree1 Disagree3

Raz

why do you consistently act like you own this site?

the amount of abuse you dish out is unbelievable.

new posters come here to check out some rumours as the window has just opened, yet because some do not leave a name or write something you don't agree with, they get called 'miserable nameless c*cks,tw*ts' and more, told to eff off or 'go somewhere else' and 'get a life'.

unbelievable rudeness

and no,I'm not leaving a name either,but that doesn't make me a d*ckhead or a coward,it's my choice.

looking forward to reading some of the more polite posts and rumours during this window, lets hope wenger pulls a rabbit out of the hat (one that scores goals)
come on you gunners!

So out of these words what word gives the connotations that he would go in january?

Does anyone know the likeliness of a Henrikh Mkhitaryan deal? Looks a real talent and easily adaptable to the PL. Steve Rowley was said to be scouting? Shakhtar look to want upto 8m Euro and at 22 years of age with he talent he has that looks to be a steal. Get your hand in your pocket Wenger!

Believable7 Unbelievable5

07 Jan 2012 14:26:15
Seems like we're in for Matias Suarez

twitter.com/JavierPerez108 is a credible source.

Matias Suarez value is just below 10m Euros. Everything is there for him to succeed with us however wether he has the physicality to succeed in the PL. Would be a good signing for us, however I do hope we break our transfer record on an attacking midfielder

Believable9 Unbelievable4

07 Jan 2012 14:18:19
I agree Demba Ba is just behind our Captain, 10 mil is not bad! he was very good for west ham when they were in prem league, i think Wenger should jump on the chance

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Would love to see Ba in Arsenal shirt but never gonna hapen, such an un-wenger-like signing.

Agree5 Disagree6

Demba Ba is now wear near RVP the last thing we need is anouther player that we will lose to the ACN I would rather the money was speant on som1 like Jordan Rhodes who would be a great squad player with loads of potential for the future his instinct for goal is great and some of his finnishing is top notch despite what team he plays for

Rainham Gunner

Agree14 Disagree4

Ba is a must! Him and van Persie would be unstoppable, stop buying crap and sell the dead wood. Squillaci, arshavin and chamackh get rid and buy. Otherwise we will never get silverware and be in the race for the title etc........

Agree5 Disagree8

Ba was once a target for wenger and he failed a medical.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Jan 2012 13:15:34
What about Demba Ba? Has a release clause of 10 mill. Henry was loaned for players going to ACN. Ba is absolutely brillant. If spuds will get him I am even more angry towards Wenger. Has 60 mill to spend. Made an offer for Reus so why now going for unknowns like Suarez who is a squad player for me at best. Would also try for Shaqiri who is available for 10 mill €. Even super bargains Wenger cant see anymore. Once great now a shadow of himself. Really a shame.

Arsenal4ever

Believable12 Unbelievable10

He would cost a fortune, much much more than 10million and would need a bigger salary too.

He could be amazing but he has only been good for half a season, let's see if he produces the goods when he comes back before berating Wenger and saying he's a rubbish manager.

CS

Agree5 Disagree8

Wow your so clever you should be our manager! PA
serioulsy guys dont give up your day jobs yeh, you make me embarrassed to be a gooner - jokers - getting you pants in a twist coz you completed fifa with these signings so why cant arsene follow suit.

you will be cheering his name wen he brings back glory! have some faith - otherwise go support city...

Mikee

Agree9 Disagree5

Couldn't agree more with you about wenger think were nearing a time were we need a serious change not just with the manager but the whole club, the board, the coaches slit needs done or we'll have more to worry about than the trophy drought it'll start bein a struggle to get into the top 6

Gunner14

Agree5 Disagree9

Thx. and you should support the spuds.

arsenal4ever

Agree4 Disagree7

Thx for agreeing. Some still to blind he is not ambitous anymore. He is a legend no doubt but his time is up. No glory days under this stubborn old man. I think the above "fans" are just little kids who doesnt even know him from the past.

Agree5 Disagree6

Hmmmm take the word of arsene (3 premier league titles, 4 fa cups) or listen to a bunch of jokers. how bout you go find an henry then come chat, or even come talk to me when you have season ticket yeh....

this is real life not footy manager lol - mikee

Agree8 Disagree3

WHAT.
I'm sorry but "wenger has 60M" . He does not have 60M and I doubt he has ever been given 60M with no strings( without using sales money etc).
To say someone should support spurs because they disagree when you said "Bargains wenger cant see anymore"
How pessimist is that ? "If spurs will get him I am even more angry towards Wenger" So if spurs get a player that we might are not in for you will be angry ? One Demba Ba would be much more than 10M newcastle paid almost 6M to his agent and I'm sure that Demba Ba would ask for more than 65k .
Unknown's like suarez did you know demba Ba before he went to west ham? Did you know reus 2 years ago .
Truth is in the summer if we got Ba how much fans would have been disgusted at the time ?

I'm with CS and Mikee
1

Agree7 Disagree3

Do I really need to dig up the post I made finances etc?

AFC made £14m in profit last summer (2011) alone and another £56m the yr before. Let's not forget astronomical ticket prices so we can add Gate-Receipts and Merchandising in there as well.

Staff wages and Player Wages aren't on the same podium so we can set those aside (Staff) right now. - The Stadium repayments are at this moment over £100m OVERPAID so therefore ahead of schedule.

The finances as of MAY 2011 was over £150m in the bank; just sitting there.

I went into a lot more detail in said post; but do not tell me that AW "Does not have and never has had £60m" to spend.

=Miss Arsenal.

Agree6 Disagree7

Your right MIKEE this is real life and we need real trophies so cut the crap about the wonder years in the past 7 years without a trophy is not acceptable, but as long as fans like you keep thinking top 4 is a good season for us the further down the table we'll fall, big changes need to be made now or we'll be fighting with the likes of Stoke and everton for Europa league places instead of fighting for the league so wake up and get a clue!

Gunner 14

Agree2 Disagree5

Abosolutely spot on "1".

firstly look what changing managers has and is doing to Chelsea, (AVB, Ancelotti, grant) how much city have spent over three years to even get a sniff of the title. we have stabilty and we are self sufficient and we do it making profit.
Just buying great foriegn players isnt the solution. take forlan for example, magnificent player - rubbish in the prem. its too bigger gamble

Mikee

Agree6 Disagree2

Kaka to real madrid - what 50-60 million well spent. could just as easy happen to us say we spend loads on hazard and he's not cut out for the prem.

DONT FORGET HOW WELL ARSHAVIN IS DOING ATM

why needlessly spend?
mikee

Agree8 Disagree5

So you own a business and the manager says "can i use that 60 mill for an untested bit of equipment?"

"yeh course" PFFT

Agree6 Disagree1

You really think all that money is goin to be spent, your dreaming MISS ARSENAL it's in the pockets of the FAT CAT board members 10 mill is about all you'll see this January and that's I'd we're very lucky only reason wengers still at the club is because he's happy to work with the pennies the board give him he need to put his foot down and say enough is enough we need to spend or we'll drop down the table, and if he won't then he should move aside and give someone else a go at returning the club to it's former glory

Gunner 14

Agree3 Disagree3

=MA
Do you think Ivan Gazidis and his besties will give wenger 60M when they could pocket it themselves?
It is not the Wenger's fault but the boards with their"sustainable profit scheme" A.K.A Let's take money and tell the fans we have a fancy scheme meaning in 2032 we will be rich! That's not to say that Wenger is out of the picture frame. The people I would love to see leave in jan is Gazidis and his chums more than squill and also David dein So long as he grounds his son for selling all of our players maybe a loan to manchester city would do Darren Dein well lol . So AW should have money to spend But is not given it and he is made to look as the fool as PHW and kronke are pocketing shed-loads.
1732

Agree2 Disagree1

Gunner 14

your anger at the team is misdirected, we dont know anything about what truly goes on (apart from speculation) so IMHO i dont think getting rid of wenger or buying loads of players is the answer. i am massively dissappointed as u are, i have seen an invinsible team turned into a business. i would like to see hazard and kaka just like anyone else, but i dont want people to get sacked if it doesnt happen.

what do you suggest we do - stop supporting them if they dont do as we say or sign/fire?

Personally im going to turn up to the games, sing songs & drink in the name of the arsenal win or lose.
Gunner for life!
MikeE

Agree4 Disagree0

Anyone saying that the club's sustainable spending programme is there to line the execs' pockets obviously does not understand economics or business. the strongest criticisms are that it is overly cautious and ignorant of footballing conditions outside of the club.

dont get me wrong, i do not think ours is the best scheme. sustainability has to work both ways - you do not overspend but you also do not under-invest. however, i doubt our execs are getting way more than other clubs', certainly not as much as the big-spending ones.

it is good to voice criticism of our club's spending but please do it intelligently.

as for Demba Ba, the story doing the rounds is that 10m is a release clause, not a suggested initial bid. so it may be a real pricetag, if the story is true. but it seems very unlikely that anyone will buy him due to ACN, which would also make it a slightly wasteful purchase right now. just a good one to keep in mind for the summer if the stories are true.

Oleg Maputo

Agree3 Disagree1

1732 the scheme on a whole was AW's plan in the beginning.

The board just like it too much now to put a stop to it, or slow it down even if he (AW) wanted to.

And Gunner 14. I never said we would spend it... So no, I'm not dreaming. I merely corrected those who seem to believe the money "IS NOT THERE".

=Miss Arsenal.

Agree1 Disagree4

Gunner 14

you want the whole club to change (manager, players, board)

then go support another team everyone wins...

Agree2 Disagree1

Oleg, he wouldn't be a wasted buy for AFC due to the ACN, at all.

The whole point of loaning Titi was to cover for our ACN Bound players; therefore he'd work the same way for a permanent forward, such as Ba.

And the £10m IS a release clause; which incidentally is only eligible to clubs in the UCL. It's not a starting price.

=Miss Arsenal.

Agree2 Disagree2

I wrote a post on this earlier.

Think about it. Who would you rather we buy? A player such as Bellamy who costs next to nothing and puts in 100% scores a lot and is a quality player.

Or a Torres, sure Chelsea showed ambition by spending 50m.. But in hindsight it was an awful buy.

It's a lose lose situation for Wenger! HE buys for example Kaka. Once Balon D'or winner and a wickedly talented player. He spends 25 million on this player and we all jump for joy because we bought a good player.

He then bombs. Can't cut it at Arsenal, low confidence, maybe picks up an injury. Waste of 25 million no? Who is to blame for that? Wenger off course.

Wenger who instead buys Arteta for 10 million. He adds class and stability, his fair share of goals. Every arsenal youngster has come out and said how he has given them tips and what a brilliant player he is. Yet Wenger is then criticised for not showing 'Ambition' and spending more money.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and It seems that's just about anything anyone on here has. When Wenger makes a 5 million pound signing of some unknown player and he turns out to be a World Class player Wenger is a genius. When he buys a 10 million pound player who doesn't immediately light up the Universe he is a rubbish manager...

Gilo

Agree7 Disagree3

Gilo - cant say spot on in as many ways as i feel need to be conveyed.

true gooner
Mikee

Agree3 Disagree1

You say to me go and support another team and everyone wins everyone but arsenal I'll never stop supporting arsenal even if they drop like Leeds did, I'm a very passionate fan and that's why I'm saying everything needs to change at the club or we'll just end up another has been team the is liveing off past greatness and next time sign your post

Gunner14

Agree0 Disagree3

Bang on Gilo. but it still must be noted that we have missed out on some good opportunities due to being stubborn - both in terms of spending and letting our squad grow 'too large'. i often feel like we scout by potential value ahead of ability, ie we have a shortlist of appropriate players within our price range, rather than having a list of the best potential players for the club. but, as someone said before, we dont really know how much control wenger has over this.

Miss Arsenal - dont get me wrong, i would love to see Ba at arsenal. but purchasing another striker would tell us that wenger does not think we have the attacking power to cement our place in the top 4 - if he consequently bought Ba, we would only get him in 4-6 weeks when we may have already dropped points due to this issue. if we do need another striker, they should be able to settle in and get scoring pretty quickly.

but, in reality, i dont think AW believes we need another striker on top of Henry. he wants to give Park a chance and, considering how long he pursued Chamakh, will be hoping that ACN rebuilds his confidence so he can contribute to the team.

Oleg Maputo

Agree1 Disagree0

We have possibly one of the smallest wage structures in the prem(top 7 teams),how is it possible that we wouldnt have 60m,apart from the stadium

Agree1 Disagree0

Just buying great foriegn players isnt the solution. take forlan for example, magnificent player - rubbish in the prem. its too bigger gamble

Then take the money and buy EPL quality... We could grab Jones, Cahill, Ba, ...
I think the best is to sit on the profit and wait for RVP to go, because of no ambition, then Jack and so on. To spend doesn't mean spend without brain. The problem is we don't spend when it is a must... And we wait for our dead wood for years to become a quality. And they never are.

Taye Taiwo to Arsenal but AC Milan need a replacement and may not sell until Summer. Taiwo has disappointed at Milan and they are looking at Kolarov at City to replace him.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

So a loan would be best for both of us .

Agree3 Disagree0

What rubbish lol

Taiwo hasn't disappointed as you say - He IS Disappointed with the club and wanting out BECAUSE he's behind 2-3 other players already (Zambrotta and Bonera at least) and not getting the game time!

Therefore they aren't looking for a replacement.

=Miss Arsenal.

Agree8 Disagree1

Is Taiwo cup-tied? Only because, AC would not want to strenghten us before going into Chapions league.

billybob452

Agree2 Disagree0

Taiwo is a left back. Zambrotta is 34 and I guess Milan are looking for a younger player not to mention his main position is right back. Bonera plays either as a right back or centre back.

Agree1 Disagree1

Which is why they've either or both played LB in front of Taiwo the past 3-4 games?

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Yeah but his manager wont let him go

GunnerzBoy

Agree5 Disagree1

Would be better than chamack

Agree5 Disagree4

I think Jordan Rhodes could be just what we need - He may be in league 1 but his goalscoring record is phenominal - he's a real fox-in-the-box striker with brilliant positioning and instinct. technically not great but we have enough technical players - we;ve seen in recent games a finisher is just what we need.

Whats happened with Podolski to Arsenal rumours?
ArsenalKid10

Believable2 Unbelievable2

What happened I think is Wenger has made every excuse under the sun for not getting him so we've all lost hope mate. First the money isn't there. Then we're not looking. Then he doesn't want to move. Then he actually does want to move, but we can't buy unless we sell. We can't sell because Euro clubs are skint. Etc etc etc, excuse after excuse. The only factual reason we may not sign him is if the club has no intention to sign him.

Bordeaux have been trying for months to get Chamakh back asap, and we could ask for as much as 10m Euros probably. They want him. Two or 3 clubs are keen on Arshavin too. That aside, we could do good swap deals for players like Diaby. Even if we didn't, we could sell Chamakh, buy Podolski, sell Arshavin and buy an up-coming striker. Two positions strengthened (striker, wide left), two current flops off the wage bill.

Raz

Agree8 Disagree2

Hes going to sign for real madrid

Raz

Agree0 Disagree4

It was a most ridiculous rumour anyway, unsubstantiated and pushed by people with no clue of any real dealings with the player.

Was never going to come so why people are disappointed is also a mystery.

CS

Agree4 Disagree3

The work is still going on. But because of the Matias Suarez rumors, people stopped discussing him.

=Miss Arsenal.

Agree3 Disagree2

Well said cs,
jay

Agree1 Disagree2

CS Miss Arsenal's right, you've come out with some pretty bizarre statements to day mate ha ha.

We have been talking to Koln about Podolski ever since our pre-season game. Apparently his only concern would be to come to us and sit on the bench, which a) he wouldn't and b) as AG or RD pointed out, he could get injured now, recover by May and still go to the Euros.

Miss A check above ;-) this happens from time to time, we get some funny f***er pretending to be me.

Raz

Agree1 Disagree1

Does signing Suarez rule out signing Podolski though? I haven't seen much of Suarez but he seems like a similar type of player as Podolski and I can't see Wenger signing both unless Arshavin or Rosicky are on the way out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arshavin and Rosicky both are at the end of their contracts in the summer. Suarez is a good signing if it comes off.

Agree1 Disagree0

Do you even support arsenal ffs, arshavins out of contract 2013 u numpty
barny

Agree0 Disagree0

People are always going on about how such and such a person has had 'dealings' with a player or his agent.

Personally I only believe stuff that come out of the club or it's close sources (ie none of the rubbish that hits the internet at this sort of time).

And I don't think it's likely we will ever see Podolski. Sorry if this upsets you but that's just the way it is.

Podolski is not a Wenger signing and you all know it, I don't see him moving from his club until at least next year and that even is a long shot, as I think he will stay put.

Heard a rumour on a news paper that arsenal may be in for David Beckham saw few articles on it but sadly only on 1 to 2 month loan

Believable1 Unbelievable14

Not gonna happen unless the board want to sell some serious shirts!
Which in that case it is likely.

Agree3 Disagree3

Well the Editor of that paper should be sacked. Beckham would never play for any PL club other than Man U.

Believable10 Unbelievable7

He's better than Gibbs imo - would be a good signing
AG

Agree2 Disagree2

Wenger has stated on the Arsenal site that he only wants a loan signing, so forget any permanent deals. We have Gibbs & Santos to return.

Agree3 Disagree0

Guys we all know Wenger will not buy another LB. He has faith in Santos and Gibbs and has stated in no uncertain terms that he sees Gibbs as the LB for the next generation, starting now, he will not block his progress no matter what we think. In the summer I felt Gibbs is not ready and had we bought a better LB than Santos then I would have agreed, but seeing as they're both as good as each other I suppose really Gibbs is number 1 choice. We'll get a loan and nothing else and AW will say what a tough, stressful, busy yet successful January it's been.
