News outlets in Andalucia are saying Lenglet has asked until the end of the month before commiting with Sevilla for the year because he has 2 offers on the table, one from Barcelona, where he is worried he will be second choice, and apprently one from Arsenal, where he has been assured first choice with Kos injured. Eds any truth in that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I believe the bit about the offers is conjecture but he has asked to have time to think over his future.}

Rumours of selling Lacaztte this would be a major cock up if we sold him.

Not if we got our money back and reinvested it in other areas, we are attack rich everywhere else poor so a redistribution of strength would be no bad thing.
Pea up top rather than out on the left to accommodate Lacasette has to be right, Pea is top drawer and shouldn't be poorly used to make a bad jigsaw possible.

Im a big lacca fan but with him and auba the balance isn't right. If we get good money and a good replacement then its probably a risk worth taking. Auba is a quality forward and he has to be striker. Lacca is also but maybe the boss thinks he can't accomadate both. We will see what materialises.

Yeah. Strength in depth is such a bad idea.

How can people even think about selling Lacazette. You can't rely on one striker when every team you face is different. Sometimes you need Lacazette and sometimes it's best to play Aubameyang. Alternatively, in my opinion you could play Lacazette just in behind Aubameyang and the two would link brilliantly. A squad needs depth and that's simple. Especially depth of such quality!

Who’s back up then if he gets injured?

08 Jun 2018 12:38:32
Glen who said rely on one striker, football is about balance and variety. He may want a different type of striker. If he wants to change any of wengers players, that's fine by me. They all didn't work before so we should trust his judgement, whatever, until we see the results. Personally i wouldn't miss too may of our players, there are definitely better out there.

Someone stupidly sold Giroud so we would have to buy another back up or rely on young Nketiah!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2018 14:31:51
Glen we basically sold giroud for auba, an obvious upgrade albeit a different player. IF we do sell lacca, who was a wenger signing, we might see another improvement, who knows. Emery may want to keep lacca but if he doesn't then we have to at least trust his judgement. By the way if we can i would like to keep him but also get the player Emery may or may not want to replace him.

Pea won't be happy to be rotated and Lacasette won't be happy to simply be cover for Pea so the temptation is to try and fit them both in.
Trying to fit both Pea and Lacasette plus both Ozil and Ramsey while not forgetting about finding room fir Miki, fitting them all into the same team will come at a price and that price will be progress.
It's about ballance, 27 + players at their peak don't want to be on the bench week in week out, bench regulars need to be younger or older players.
Anyone who thinks they can simply rotate Pea and Lacasette is a fantasist.

This is the problem with a completely new set up guys. None of know what the new set up are aiming for. IRS in the backroom and Emery have, hopefully, a working plan but we won't see it till 3-4 games in. There is a total rebuild happening, this ain't going to be solved in one season.
Meantime we can all have fun hoping this player stays leaves or comes in. It's going to be fun but hold tight.

Hi Saga mate good to hear from you mate.

Do the city players moan about squad depth? Madrid? Barca? No because they are successful. Some of the players don’t like sitting out but it’s what they get paid to do! You need depth in your team to compete and the arsenal players will need to accept that. Laca and Auba are our strikers and they’ll have to get over it. One week it’s a game for Laca and then next it’s Auba depending on who we are playing. Sometimes it will be worth while playing them both. Who knows.

Good luck with dropping Pea Glen :-)
He's not known for his easy going nature and each time he doesn't play and we don't win get ready for the fans backlash.
Some players expect to play every game and when you are the outstanding player at the club you get to call the tune pretty much be that right or wrong, that's the reality of the situation.
Fantasy football doesn't have ego's moods and players power but in reality some players just don't rotate.

Hi gunner62 had a few health probs recently, but spent the time polishing up my fully moded up mobility scooter to Lamby SX 200 standard with a few extra mirrors and lamps. Got meself off to Our Cyprus house where its stonking hot and getting back up to date with Gonner news. Its going to be a busy ol few months for sure. Hope all is well with our fellow posters.

{Ed001's Note - sorry to hear that lout, hope you feel better soon mate.}

Yes Saga mate like Ed001 I'm sorry to hear you haven't been to good mate but really pleased you seem to be on the up now mate.
I remembered you had a gaff in Cyprus and that's where I always picture you are, pint in hand :-)
The scooter sounds cool mate, ideal for a drunken celebration tour round the local area when Dick and the merry Sven men bring back the good times at the Arsenal:-)

Nufing to serious guys just old age creeping up I had a serious car accident with a 40 tonne lorry back n the 90s and it gives me grief nowadays. But i'm back in the sun with several pints on a mates 70th birthday talking about old London when scooter louts would have had a visit from a bloke in a Crombie and Trilby and told to behave themselves or get a slap.
Oh met a few gooners today as well and a really good mate that just happens to sadly be a spud. We had a good few EFES tween us as well. No hate here.
Looking forward to a great season
So from a very half cut sagalout have a great day guys.

Ed002 is it possible for us to have your shakapod or a new list of potential transfer targets, as you said the list would likely have changed as lord Wenger steps aside.
Your work and that of all the eds are really appreciated.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not planning any right now and would want to get to know a little more about how much UE wants to influence the powers that be regarding changing the targets the club has, and critically the changes he wants to make in terms of the existing squad - e.g does he want to move on Lacazette or will he not be able to work with Oezil and let him move on.}

07 Jun 2018 17:28:33
yeah I guess that's the best place to start. Because whatever target must work under a system so understanding the system sure should help.
But deep within I think Emery will experiment more with this arsenal team than he was afforded in PSG. Depending on which team we play I do see him player Auba and Laca together.
I believe the one thing that will help Emery is that everyone will sacrifice a little ego to be in the starting eleven.
thanks for your quick response.

I think we should keep lacazette but can understand of not due to having aubameyang. As for ozil that's interesting Ed. You have any thoughts of your own what he will do with him. Ozil seems to have developed an attitude last few years. Like he's better than everyone else. Or perhaps that's just how the media are portraying him. Never met the guy so who knows.

07 Jun 2018 18:47:23
ED, I know at this point anything is possible, but you’ve mentioned Ozil. Do you know if he’s open to leaving. He’s a world class player in the wrong league. A luxury player. I mean I still don’t know what position he plays and I think he forces a team to be build around him because of this. 350 k a week for a player that doesn’t influence important games is a lot of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think it is in the wait and see category.}

07 Jun 2018 17:38:13
Ed, those are two huge questions! That would resolve my Rambo Vs Ozil debate as well how Lacca and PEA fit into his structure

Interesting and even more so that you throw those two big names who have only recently signed contracts.

Hi Ed002, thanks for the latest updates on transfers you've give us.
If I may ask, did you know if the club is searching for a wide attack player?
Last window we supposed to be keen in Maicon, but he seems to heading elsewhere right now. Has been rumours about Dembele and lately about Gelson Martins. We're after one of them or other options?
Also, Fekir is a target yet or is he bounded to Liverpool already?
Hope you can answer. Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - (a) It will depend now on who is sold and how much money can be made available. Obviously a lot of the previous targets (I don't know who Maicon is by the way - I assume not the Galatasaray player) like Lookman, Forsberg, Zivkovic etc. may no longer be of interest under the new regime, but I understand from someone still with the club that interest does still remain in the likes of Steven Bergwijn. I don't see Dembele as a viable option and all of this Gelson Martins being available for free nonsense is exactly that. (b) Fekir has been a long-term target but right now I expect him to move elsewhere.}

07 Jun 2018 16:03:41
Ed002, do you expect Fekir to be prem bound?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

07 Jun 2018 16:31:42
Thanks Ed, very insightful info. I mean Malcom by the way, sorry for the mistake.
Looking at what you said on the above post, hope our options can be cleared soon.

The news around Yacine Adli seems to be hotting up. A lot of reports stating that the clubs have agreed terms a deal is imminent. Can the eds provide any clarity on this?
Many thanks!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - all I know is that Emery wants him, he has a number of offers on the table, including one from Arsenal and he seems to favour a move to England.}

07 Jun 2018 14:33:34
That's good enough for me! Emery's previous relationship will hopefully help get the deal over the line! Thanks Ed001.

Morning Eds,
Do we know for sure if Arsenal are actively seeking a new GK or are they happy with Cech for another season? It looks that way after being handed the no.1 shirt. I don't like the idea of bringing in a 2nd to Cech because anyone of class would be straight in the starting 11 imo.
Many thanks,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal want another GK.}

Thanks. A replacement for Ospina when he gets sold for cheap in the coming weeks ha!
