Bild are reporting that Koln and Arsenal have agreed a €13m fee for Lukas Poldolski and that he has agreed a £100k a week 4 year contract.

Believable12 Unbelievable2

Cant see it being true but if so what a bargain, well played Wenger and the rebuild begins!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this true info about the podolski deal
4 years 100k a week edd any truth to this! i thought a very good chance wenger getting podolski on the cheap. {Ed002's Note - I understand that the wages may be circa 100k euro (not £) but that has to be confirmed. I also understand that the fee is set at 13M euro at whatever the exchange rate is at the time of the transfer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Bbc reporting no deal done {Ed002's Note - I understand it is an "in principal" agreement. I am told there is some convoluted deal over insurance between now and when the deal can be completed and some separate deal topping up his international insurance for the period covering Euro2012.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Seeing as we are outside the transfer window no deal can actually be finalised so the "in principle" deal is all that could be struck at this stage. I must say it would be nice to see Arsenal going out and doing there business early for once

Agree0 Disagree0

I am worried he is RVP replacement. That would be more in line with Arsenal of last 5 years

Eds I'm curious about Mathias Suarez? He seems to be quite heavily linked with us and I'm interested to see what you think he would give the team. His stats are nothing to write home about, although I know that that is not always reflective of a good player. Which position does he even play? At 23 he's quite old to still be worldclass and still be playing in the Belgian league in my opinion.

Fab {Ed002's Note - I can't answer this but perhaps someone else can. "World class" is a rather over used term.}

Believable6 Unbelievable3

An assist or a goal per league game this season, that's pretty impressive stats, even in the Belgian league.

Agree0 Disagree0

And 7 goals and 3 assists in 8 games in europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez is quite a versataille player, he can play on the left wing or up top, but he excels more as a second striker, a similar position that Denis Bergkamp used to occupy (don't compare the two though! We all know Den was a player in his own league, I'm sure you've all heard of the discussion between the Dutch greats?)
He's best when he's the link between midfield and the attack and to be honest IF he came to us he'd play as a forward almost guaranteed and that won't bring the best out of him, at 23 Suarez wouldn't be a prospect he'd be expected to slot in ASAP, but as good as other leagues are becoming the EPL is a different animal and I can't see him being able to adapt fast enough, with chamakh almost certain to leave and with park never getting a run in the team our best bet is to hope for poldi, he's apparently spoke to Per Mertesaker over the move to England and our lad has given him glowing reports, even podolski has his problems, like he seems to be a better international than domestic player, and how would poldi take to being second fiddle if RVP stays? Anyway got sidetracked there! Point is, Suarez would beca nice squad player, but I'd take his compatriot Lucas Biglia over him right now

Agree0 Disagree0

You plonker, his stats are brilliant and i have seen him play. He is sharp direct, makes goals plus score's and it would be a fantastic addition if we can get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because someone's stats are good doesn't make them a great player, especially considering where he comes from, David luiz has more prem goals this year than Fernando Torres, but who would you prefer as a striker? Or as a player on general? Suarez comes from a league where it's a different class, Eboue was good in belgium, so were Lukaku and Courtois, and one gets less first team action than most of our reserves and the other gets shipped out on loan.

I may eat my words IF we sign him but I can't see Suarez being the answer to lowering van persie's burdens, I'd rather vela got brought back {Ed027's Note - courtois looks like a great gk,and was loaned out to get game time, and for a club like athletico to come and get him shows how good he is,

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive read the reason he's still in belgium at 23 is because hes naturally quite light, i.e. gets knocked off the ball quite easily, however he worked really hard over the summer to bulk and is now a different player, being very effective in belgium and europa, 7 in 8. i think hed be brought in as a squad player however, and see if he can play himself in to the 1st 11. you look at home ac milan game, our bench was horrible, we need more depth in attack! and suarez will do a very good job at that

Agree0 Disagree0

It shows how highly they rated him, as they did David de gea and Sergio asenjo, ones not quite the player they hope the other is pawned off to Malaga

Ed 1, of the following which have been linked what do you think the chances are of seeing them in the summer: marko marin, marvin martin, sissoko, M'vila and sebastian giovinco . thanks {Ed001's Note - all have been linked in the press, only Martin and M'Vila I am sure are of interest. Martin is looking likely to move in the summer, but it will really depend on who else comes in for him. Personally I would expect Italy to come calling. M'Vila is one I don't, as of now, have any info on him moving.}

so proud of the gunners 2nite,the last few weeks i think we have been amazing,the manager never faultered in adversity and lifted the players when things were tough,if we can keep it goin now 3rd is ours,allso i wonder is it time to leave ramsey out of the 1st team for awhile now when he comes back as we look a much slicker side without him?

Could be time to leave Ramsey out for a bit give him somthing to think about
I still have high hopes for him I just think we have asked too much of him this season when JW is back I think we will see Ramsey playing a diff role

RG

Agree0 Disagree0

Ya maybe he needs some comp for his place to liven him up,
big dickey

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey will be our box to box midfielder

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey for me is at least a squad player for Arsenal same as Walcott. these guys can perform but not for 50 games. 6 months ago we all thought Rosicky could not perform. now he is like a new player and its great to see. When Rosicky loses some form then hopefully a refreshed Ramsey can come in and perform. this is modern day football. it is about the squad and not the first 11. 2 top players for each position and quality youngsters being eased in. Left back, Cdm and a striker needed. Baines, ??, Podolski would be good start. have to shift the deadwood as well. even if it means paying up there contracts. it would send a message that Arsenal are a big club and if your not performing you will be gone. bye bye Djourou, Almunia, Schilatchi, Chamack and Park. lets also buy Goatze as we can afoord it and again its another statement that we are a big club.

Agree0 Disagree0

You lost,another seson with no trophie."well done"

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the animosity towards Park is a bit premature. He's only been here since last summer and hasn't really gotten into the first team yet. To refer to him as dead-wood is harsh.
Ypsigooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I wudnt count djouro as deadwood,he is handy to have in the squad when we get injuries/rest players

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs poster above can' t even spell the word 'trophy.' Draw your own conclusions from that......

Agree0 Disagree0

You lost, another reply with bad speeling. "Well done?"

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs fans getting antsy because we are nearing the usual annual Spurs collapse.

First two, great. last two, rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott ain't that young and ain't that good....we could easily have somebody replace him!! Not good enough for our first team! GET REAL!! J x

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree,id sign wallcott on a 5 year contract and give him 18-24 months and then if there is no improvement let him go,i think gibbs will become a very good player if he can stay fit and get a run of games,as for the other 2...ya dont have to say anything..they are just class..:)
big dickey

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads if arsene put Theo in the shop window tomorrow a lot of clubs would be lining up to buy him I agree with you he is frustrating at times but his pace scares the s**t out of defences barcelona said he was our main dangerman.

David 6

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs has been great for us this season when he is been playing all four of those players should be at the euros

To the person that said Walcott aint that young....hes 22 for goodness sake, i think thats his problem hes been playing for so long in the first team people forget he still is really young and still developing....mabey he peaked to early.....? I actually dont rate walcott atall, he is so erratic, i think he has a terrible touch and cross, and sometimes his composure in front of goal is woeful....but then you have his other side...games like chelsea and tottenham where he has the abundancy to score superb goals from nothing, because his pace gets him in good positions, so would i keep him.....Yes but not held to ransom...and if he goes we already have a better ready made replacement. i do not see walcott getting better though im afraid to say, and he is never going to play in a team that suits him more than arsenal

So proud of the team! Valiant effort! Play like that the rest of the season 3rd is ours! Rebuild in the summer... 3/4 players and get the dross out... Walcott is a constant let down! Bench player at best. Has one good game every 5 if he's lucky.

Overall though elated with the effort and fight of whoever played. Gervinho and Song were poor but tried hard. Walcott didn't. Gives up too easily.
