Arsene Wenger will continue his attempts to land Lille starlet Eden Hazard this January and is ready to offer the Ligue 1 champions striker Marouane Chamakh and centre back Sebastien Squillaci in part exchange for the 20 year old playmaker.

The Arsenal boss has long tracked the young Belgian international and may feel that a move for the youngster in the January transfer window may bear fruit, not least if the Stade Metropole side is not in the running to retain their title, which given the resurgence of cash rich PSG may well prove to be the case.

Wenger will feel he can afford to offload Squillaci, who has failed to adapt to life in the Premier League, as he has brought in experienced German international Per Mertesacker over the summer. The 31 year old Frenchman may be interested in a move back to Ligue 1 after three years away.

Marouane Chamakh had an up and down season last term, starting with a succession of goals but ending with a goal drought. The Moroccan international has barely had a look in during the current campaign and is yet to start a Premier League match and therefore can be happily used as a makeweight in a deal to sign Hazard.

The Lille attacking midfielder has been in fine form this term, netting four goals and three assists in nine matches, and is a player being pursued by many of Europe‚Ѣs elite and even though Arsenal‚Ѣs potential purchase of Hazard in January would result in the player being cup tied and ineligible to play for the North London side in the Champions League this season Wenger is eager to snap up the player before he is lured elsewhere.

Hazard is valued at around £25m and Wenger will hope that the inclusion of two international level players, both with significant Ligue 1 experience, may aid any move to tempt Lille boss Rudi Garcia into allowing his prized asset to leave the club.

if this is true or it happens that would be a fab deal

Why would Hazard leave in January.he is
Playiing in the chamions league and won't leave

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably the assumption that Lille will get knocked out of the champions league. Hazard scored for Belgium yesterday, he's on form. Sort it Arsenal. Why would we buy him though to be fair? He's going to leave in a year or two. Unless we sell him for 50m it's hardly going to be worth the time.

P.s. I'd offer them Almunia, Chamakh, Squillaci and Arshavin/ Walcott in a swap deal haha.

Mate Over The Years Weve Both Players Used Them For A Couple Seasons And Sold Them For Much More(anelka, giovanni even henry) But The Only Thing Is We Used To Win That Way. So I Say Bring On Hazzard And More Quality And If We Start Winning He Probably Wont Want To Leave

Recent reports now saying Walcott is wanted by Uve and that his agent has 'no idea what will happen' in the future regarding his contract which expires in 2013. Expect more of the same issues with him then as with Nasri, Fabregas, Clichy, Bendtner, RvP...

Believable7 Unbelievable20

Not that I am unhappy Walcott could move cause AOC is already better. But shows AFC is only a selling club now. Gazidis, Wenger and Kroenke have all to go. PHW should have gone long time ago. We are football club not a bank. Shame it went that far. Clueless management

The saddest part is, at this point we can't even get someone who is past age 21/22/23 anymore. They initially sign for Arsenal, develop into fantastic players, don't win anything (because the club refuses to spend), and then they are sold for less then their actual value because their contract runs down to 1 year and the "contract talks stall".

I wholly expect that trend to continue. We need the board completely overhauled and possibly remove Wenger so this stops. We have amazing talents in Ox, Frimpong, Wilshere, Coquelin, Gibbs, Szczesny, Campbell, etc.... if we refuse to spend and do not add quality experience to our squad then these players will move on to a football club with football ambitions, not just financial ones.

About the previous post above ^ ^ I meant to say:

The saddest part is, at this point we can't even get someone who is past age 21/22/23 TO SIGN A CONTRACT EXTENSION anymore.

If walcott goes i dont mind so long as we use the money to get hazard

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott + agent already issued statement denying all this. Just some BS rumour!

Getting rid of Wally might not be a bad idea, he isnt developing anymore.

No you guys will probaly hate me for it but i have heard RVP could be on his way in jan to CITY or LFC. (Do you know anything Ed ?)
BLUE MOON. {Ed001's Note - this rumour has been floating around for a while, I believe his agent began circulating stories about his support for Liverpool as a child to stir up interest. It seems he is unhappy too.}

Believable21 Unbelievable8

This is indeed a rumour typical of today's media... however I don't think he would join City. I can't see him being at home with so many other first choice strikers. I would really love it if he went abroad to win trophies. That would really hurt if he left us for another prem club, but I suppose it wouldn't paper over the cracks like it would if he went away - it would really show that being at Arsenal is not good for top players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats fine he can go...not like hes doing something special to keep us in the top 4.

35 million and thank you very much Man city.

I can feel the urgence at arsenal, wenger will spend. replacing a 29 year old striker with some names out there.

we have done well without names and made them household names. Who was Van persie before arsenal? who was cesc, who was thierry, who was bergkamp, who was viera...Yes David Dein recruited top talent no doubt...talent that did not thrive in other countries and leagues but it is wenger who has given them that edge to be what they are.

Vermalen is a clear example of one of the best defenders in the premier league from the unknown, Ryo? clubs are wondering how they did not snare him...AOC looks like a steal for 15 million, Coquelin wtf? and his performance against spurs should just be a start, Frimpong? yea you know we love him, Sczesny?

The only thing arsenal need to do is build around these guys add talent and we can be the best of the best. we maybe a few years away but we are financially sound to achieve all that we want..

Thank you Arsene Wenger.

The problem is when Coquelin, Frimpong, Sczesny etc. become stars, they will start flirting with City, Barca etc. Arsenal will get shortchanged in the transfer market as usual and we will be back at square one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal are the english Porto (except we dont win the league)

And to the comment above, who was Dennis Bergkamp before Arsenal? Maybe you might look into it...

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh good grief. Look first no one can begrudge RVP a move. Unlike the rest he has stayed and done a long stint trying to get Arsenal success, and done it without moaning. He is absolute class, the last world class player in a dwindling side.

So who was he before he came to Arsenal a clear emerging star and unlike many he has gone on to achieve it and reward us. However, the Arsenal intention to establish ourselves as the new Everton (forget Porto they win things) just does not give him the chance to win things. Like the great Thierry he deserves a chance to leave the game with some medals, and in truth there is no chance of that happening with us.

How on earth people are fooling themselves about Frimpong, Coquelin and even more mad Ryo amazes me. These are good young prospects, great to have around, but without world class players and without leaders they will either never fulfill their potential or as your previous poster has pointed out be on their way to City or Barcelona who Arsene has established as Arsenal as a feeder club to.

RVP is a serious talent and it's so sad to know he has to leave but he deserves his chance, with or without him get used to a few seasons of mid table at best, and this season possibly worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

Frimpong is loyal
