Eds, there are many names going around for who arsenal may sign as a defensive midfielder.

Kevin Strootman

Etienne Capoue

Maxime Gonalons

Victor Wanyama

Lars Bender

Just to name a few!

Is there any interest in any of theses players above, if so who do you see being arsenals number one target this coming summer?

Cheers {Ed029's Note - There is serious interest in Wanyama without a doubt.}

Believable26 Unbelievable6

Ed, is he our number one target then, what price range is he? {Ed002's Note - I am not getting involved in discussing any prices but I can confirm that Arsenal are interested but "number one" is not something that makes sense to me.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic fan here - I'd be totally gutted to lose Wanyama, but if he leaves then I truly believe you'll get the midfield boss you've missed for so long. Nobody pushes this kid around - and he can play. Look out though - Ferguson has been to see him, and had him watched. So if you start d!cking around on the price like you usually do - guess where he'll end up?

Agree3 Disagree0

Wanyama most definitely not #1 or 2 target.

Etienne Capoue is AFC's #1 target in that area. We tried to sign him twice in January; in fact we were so close he was booked into The Grove, on Deadline Day.

Situation was, due to Toulouse already selling Sissoko to NUFC; they didn't want to let both players go.

Agree0 Disagree1

What I wouldn't give to have Sissoko at Arsenal.

Ross

Agree0 Disagree0

Sissoko is a bit overrated imo. Capoue and Wanyama are both better options.

Agree1 Disagree0

I suppose Sissoko isn't really a true DM, which of course is what we're in need off but I always thought he make a good replacement for Diaby. He's a beast going forward. I'd definitely take either Capoue or Wanayama though.

Ross

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic fan here, guy's I have been told Man city will let other teams start the bidding for Wanyama then they will step in at the end to sign him. Only passing on what I have been told. Will be sorry to see him leave, outstanding prospect in my opinion and will go to the very top off the game.

Ok some more news from spain. perhaps old news but I will state it to get slated anyway.

1) Marca now reporting that Higuain Could be offered in a deal to take bale to Madrid, but they value the striker at 25 mill which Tottenham may not agree as they would want to sell bale for cash, that's where the Arsenal interest comes into play and the fact that we would buy the striker for Cash (not sure we would spend that much, however its speculation)

2) The acquisition of bale means that Di maria becomes dispensable and he is being traced by PSG and City thus far ( money for bale and the position )

madrid thinking a front 3 of Ronaldo, Aguero bale?

3) Aguero is also wanted by Madrid with a potential swap of Benzema and money for Aguero being published in papers.

Now I understand its only rumours, but Madrid are not the ones to standby and I can see some truth if not all truth.

Reactions appreciated no matter how negative they are.

Believable21 Unbelievable11

Can't see them being able to afford both Bale and Aguero.

Agree0 Disagree1

How is this Arsenal rumour? we can't afford squat.

Agree1 Disagree0

Higuain would be nice, Di Maria not so much. I think he would get out muscled in the prem. Also £25m for Higuain is good business at his age

Agree0 Disagree0

United fan here in peace. I think Higuain could be great for Arsenal and is more of a finisher than Jovetic so would be the better buy IMO. Higuain & Wanyama would be a very good start to the summer for Arsenal I'd say - solves 2 of your main problems i. e. clinical finisher and defensive shield in midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure if we are going to sign a striker. what will wally think of his new contract and the scam to sign him on without the opportunity to play upfront.

anyway DM for me and a GK for sure. I think Bellerin, Miquel, gnabry, Eisfeld should be in the first team. ad rotate for cups keeping the 1st 11 healthy.

Arsenal look to AZ Alkmaar's Esteban Alvarado as solution to goalkeeping woes, with remaining interest in Adam Maher. It remains to be seen whether the interest is serious enough to rival Ajax for the player's signature.

In addition club legend Dennis Bergkamp has been sounded out as potential successor to Liam Brady.

That's all for now.

i want to talk about the rumour of iker casillas and why I think it is something we could do.

we have 3 players at the club and 1 in cesc who could talk us up.

maybe he would like a new challenge.

he seems to have lots of problems at r/madrid of late.

gk are not renown for getting big wages, would 100k a week be enough to to temp him and it would not be breaking the clubs wage structure.

arsenal would be a perfect move for him;)))

malaga gooner

Believable10 Unbelievable39

He is on something mental like 150k per week at Madrid. Why would he want to earn 100k?

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh Malaga, Malaga, Malaga

😔

Agree1 Disagree0

Cesc is at Barca, what players have we at Madrid?
Good shout though mate

Agree0 Disagree1

1. we won't pay his wages, they are crazy high at Madrid

2. if he is after a new challenge, it doesn't mean the premier league is his preferred destination. he might want to come to England but there are mega rich clubs like Anzhi, Monaco and PSG would all be interested. He might want to go somewhere like Italy, Germany or France which are seen as 3 of the top 5 leagues in Europe (the others being the Premier League and La Liga. )

if it does happen. fair play. he's one of the greatest ever keeper and it would be an astonishing signing and a real display of our intent.

Agree0 Disagree0

. because don't spain have a new tax law which means that they get taxed a majority of their wages? Remember hearing Ronaldo kickig up a fuss about it sometime ago. It would be a great signing which should (fingers crossed) keep some gooners quite, he is still one of or the best goalkeepers in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

Trust me when I say this. the fans would literally boo mourinho out of the building. imagine benitez starting position at chelsea and multiply that by 100.

Casillas is not playing as Lopez is in form. its simple. But fact remains that Casillas is 10x better than lopez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ilkers main problem at madrid is down to his relationship with jose and with him leaving that solves that.
non starter

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas is at Barca and Casillas is at Real. What are you talking about. For someone who calls themselves Malaga you don't ever seem to know much regarding anything Spanish.

Bergkamps apprentice 1

Agree0 Disagree0

What club in england can offer him no1 that will be in the cl.

maybe us and utd.

i am just saying could we not make a cheeky move for him.

malaga gooner

Agree1 Disagree0

I assume Malaga just meant that Cesc and Casillas have spent a ton of time together on the Spain national team. I thought his post was very reasonable (though I disagree) and didn't pretend to be anything it wasn't (i. e. , no "special sauce"), so really don't understand the reaction.

Agree2 Disagree0

I'd love Casillas to come, but I can't see it happening he is on big wages and Mourinho is widely expected to leave this summer so I imagine if he hasn't before, that he will get his starting position back. And he is Mr Real Madrid the poster boy of the club I very much doubt the club would ever sell him.

Agree0 Disagree1

Arsenal is 'the perfect move for him' because? - they've got a crappy defense and he'll get lots of practise.

Agree0 Disagree1

It'd be nice to think there are still some footballers out there that are more interested in football and taking on new challenges than filling their bank accounts and if Iker is one of these maybe Arsenal is the perfect place for him to come. That said I still believe Szcze's got the potential to be one of the best in the world and signing Iker could potentially hinder his development although it could also invigorate the youngster.
