Agree0 Disagree0

I think and believe their will be more than the squad u posted above it will be similar but not same like that more changes than that defo! guaranteed!

real goon

Agree0 Disagree0

I think more changes to come.

Miyachi
Joel Campbell

Will be in the squad.

While Chamakh is probably going to go, selling Park will be difficult given his National Service problems. At best we can send him on loan somewhere.

I think Wenger will probably look to bring in 1 more central attacking midfielder to give him options.

just watched podolski on u tube he is so like rvp.
i wonder if he is rvp replacement
dave.w

Believable9 Unbelievable30

He's more like Arshavin so that's who I'd say he is replacing

Agree0 Disagree0

How is he like RvP?

I don't raelly see it, RvP is far more technically gifted and is a much better all round footballer.

Podolski is a poacher, kind of like a Lineker type I would reckon. Perhaps he can develop further as he is just 26.

Still excited to see him play alongside RvP. if RvP leaves he might as well not have bothered coming so that's a definite NOT HAPPENING in my book!

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely agree with you, i watched podolski on youtube yesterday and realised that his style is identical to van persie's. there's no point in having to left footed strikers, i think he is a replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

In regards to the above post, why not have two left footed strikers? Many teams play with two right footed strikers. I also can't see RvP wanting to leave England as his family are settled and I equally can't see him playing against Arsenal say for city... Who knows though, it's ultimately his and the clubs decision.

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Germany striker Lukas Podolski from Cologne, BBC Sport understands.

Reports suggest the Gunners will pay £10.9m for the 26-year-old on a four-year contract worth £100,000 a week.

Podolski will have to pass a medical and agree personal terms before the move can be completed in the summer.

Believable38 Unbelievable4

Excellent news. Podolski will - if he's coming - be an excellent addition: classy, experienced and a proven goalscorer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski will come and if so then i hope park and arshavin are out of the club!... bendtner should defo go and most likely to go!

so i will think we will have 3-4 good signings in the summer and 2-3 of them CLASS acts...

we will wait and see their will be some major outs and ins...

hope van persie stays

New update, go on javier Perez twitter and they have contacted podolski agent and after all the questions the agent said no news regarding the transfer! Sounds like good news as most agents say no contact! Expect podolski to be a gooner it continues going this way!

Is it me or is Podolski similar to Gervinho. Both bought for similar amounts of money and both versatile players, but if Podolski starts off really well and carries on then we have found a very good player. Other targets however should be sighted such as Goetze, Hazard, Kagawa etc. One thing with Wenger is that he always likes to buy from abroad and never goes for big premier league players from big clubs (excluding tottenham). For example Chelsea really wanted Modric and were looking to buy him, what I'm trying to say is that we should be doing this too. We should go for players like Bale, Modric, Hamsik, Ozil, Di Maria, Sneijder even Wayne Rooney. I'm not deluded and I'm not saying that we should buy all these players but what I want to see is Arsenal being very ambitious in transfers and buying players from big clubs because we need to win trophies very quickly.

Islington Gooner

Believable11 Unbelievable18

Players like Gervinho, Podolski, Ox, Vermaelen, Sagna, Koscielny, etc...

Much better value for money than signing bale for 50mln.

I am very pleased with Podolski and now just want a mobile and creative attacking Midfielder.

(A younger, more consistent, injury free - Rosicky)

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski Is More Of a Striker And Has A Much Better Shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP
Podolski Hazard
Ox
Song Wilshere
Gibbs TV5 Kos Sagna
Shezza

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest islington I get the feeling our transfers are going to get easier, if the reported £100,000 a week for poldi are true then I can see RVP easily being offered £120,000, wilshere will probably get offered a better deal too, of course this means players like Diaby, bendtner, squilacci will want more too (obviously not in the 100k area but im guessing our dead wood probably believe they are worth 80k a week....)difference being they won't get it, and therefore will be more inclined to move, now the above three must earn AT LEAST 120k combined, add another 20 and you've got money that will turn the heads of the likes of hazard, gotze and Benzema (.the last one an example, as Madrid won't sell him in this form) now as I've said before I DON'T want hazard as I reckon he'll stunt ox's progress, this of course , is all figurative, and ifs buts and maybes but I reckon the future is bright

Mind you this would all be better if they just let usmanov in! But I won't start that again!

D

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa is the acm that we need. fast, smart, good first touch and goal scorer

Agree0 Disagree0

No it is just you. podolski is nothing like gervinho, podolski is left footed for starters. but worryingly, he is just like rvp in every way, check him out on youtube. i believe he is a replacement for van persie.

Podolski fee is 13m euro, but wages are £140k a week, but the wages will have come with a sizable signing on fee. So perhaps he will be paid something like £110k a week and he will receive £6m upfront in a one-off payment.

Ed002, is there any way one-off payments can be tax avoidable?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I am not sure where you have the £140k wages from Syd. But very few things are clear of tax. The old scheme of classic cars and oil paintings are perhaps a little long in the tooth. A golden handshake is tax free so there may be a way to put it in to trust and then roll it in with the money from his testimonial in 10 years time. There are trusts, limited companies etc. that can be used to defer or reshape tax that is due, but I don't see this as any sort of consideration.}

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Ed002 - Raphael Honigstein said £140k a week, but some will be paid upfront. Too be honest I did think it was a bit steep.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Honigstein is a good guy. But I don't see Arsenal agreeing to pay him 165k euro per week. And why is Honigstein talking in pounds? It is very different to the figures we were given last night. How much did he say was being paid by the club for the two insurance packages?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 - I read his Tweet wrong, it was more of a quote than his personal knowledge. My bad.

"interesting figures from Cologne tabloid Express today. Podolski fee (only) GBP 10.3m but wages 140k a week."

Sydney!

Podolski, L.Diarra, and R.Albiol will definetly be signing. expect maybe a left back and another cm to also arrive.

Scezney
Sagna Koncienly Vermalean Gibbs
Diarra Song
Ox Arteta Podolski
RVP

Believable9 Unbelievable14

Mmm, no Wilshire :(

Agree0 Disagree0

It should be song and Wilshere in the middle of the park if at all...gev and podolski on the wings RVP up front and no one may believe this but i have a feeling gotze is next...heres hoping.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope Suarez is next at 23 years old and costing around the same as Podolski where as Gotze at 18-20 mill is overated and overvalued.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love if Gotze or Hazard was included. Would really be the final piece of the puzzle.

We have 2 germans on the book, potentially 3 with Podolski.

Also - Rosicky is still a BVB legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

U r completely mad. No Wilshire??

Agree0 Disagree0

We currently have 2 professionals, 2 scholars and one schoolboy who are German. Mertesacker and Eisfeld, Siemann and Gnabry and the SB is, Gedion Zelalem a German lad from the USA who will move to the academy in 2014. Nice group developing!

CrossRoss

Where so u get diarra, didnt he leave us in a huff?

I think wenger getting poldi means RVP stays. especially after the 100k a week salary...which means RVP can get almost anything. 150-200k even..not that rvp is money hungry.

Its a special feeling when an entire stadium is in raptures everytime he scores...not since the time of henry, have we been soo excited by a goal scorer of this calibre. He will stay.

Poldi, Rvp, Gerv on the front line...that looks dangerous...one powerful left foot, one clinical left foot and ger who shud get better in his second season.

Ryo, Ox, Backup wingers. Walcott should be given the RVP backup role.

We dont need defenders. Gibbs has come alive, Sagna, Per, Verm, Koser, santos,jenkinson, djourou should be sufficient. We got miquel and bartley too.

we lack in midfield. Rosicky will be given a 12 month contract, ramsey, wilshere, arteta, song, coquelin, frimpong ( injured for another 5 months)

I do hope wenger brings in gotze. him and wilshere in the middle with song behind them and the attacking trio up front...dangerous.

Believable28 Unbelievable5

Ox...a backup winger are you joking....this guy is the hottest property in england right now, and deserves his place in the first team every week, Gervhinio is a waste of space!! he is the backup, also Ox in midfield was unbelieable the other night could be his new position if i know wenger!!

Djourou i will happily pay for his ticket our of the emirates he is like an accident waiting to happen everytime he plays, i think with wiltshire coming back we should loan ramsey out somewhere, especially if we sign Goetze, he will have no chance of getting in the team, in my opinion aswell we should go for Leighton Baines from everton, sort of guy we need to solid up the backline, Gibbs isnt great believe me, he cant play with a fast defensive backline. {Ed001's Note - AOC joined from Southampton as a central midfielder who could also play on the wings, it is not a new position but his favoured one.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually didnt know that he was!! a good selection headache it looks like for arsene wenger, althou i need to say he does look the business on the wings aswell though, i dont know where i would rather he plays, although him and wiltshire is a mouthwatering prospect

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with OxChambo being better than Gervinho, however I think Gervinho will be better next season, as he just needs time to settle...

...Also I agree with that we only need a Creative Midfielder like Goetze, as we haven't brought anyone in to replace Nasri... Gourcuff looks class as well but Goetze would be better as he is younger, and shows we can still attract big-money stars!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilshire and gotze with Arteta and rosicky for experience.

Don't forget about yennaris who has done well.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think RVP will stay,Arshavin will probably stay at Zenit,and Podolski will replace him.Happy days.

Is this Podolski transfer a done deal or is it just rumours? And also would you have any idea how credible the German newspaper Bild that reported the Podolski deal is?

Sydney Gooner {Ed002's Note - The deal will not be completed until the summer but agreement has been reached. There are caveats over a number of issues - injury etc..}

ed is it legal to sign a player on a pre contract agreement from europe?
dave.w {Ed002's Note - Clubs can agree a transfer at any time but the transfer cannot be processed until the window is open. This is what is happening with Podolski. The term "pre-contract" applies to where a player and a club agree a deal (a) outside of teh federation the player plays in, and (b) within six months of his contract end.}

Podolski is a done deal. Him and van Persie would be a force to be reckoned with. Get a creative mid and then we can challenged on all fronts! COYG!

german tv and sources have said podolski on the brink of a 10.9 million fee move to arsenal, around about 13 million euros... and 100k per week (in euros)

reliable sources in germany have announced it already and the news should be clarified in the UK once it has been confirmed...

remember anything can happen it could break down but lets hope it goes to plan... german sources say he is 78% a gooner from their sources

real-goon {Ed002's Note - It is the otherway around with the fee - 13M euros which is currently about £10.9M.}

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Yeah sorry for the misunderstanding but you are correct... whats ur views on this ed? {Ed002's Note - If you glance down the page you will see a brief explanation about what I know of the "deal" including some discussion about insurance that apparently is part of the deal.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He said 13m euros, what you on about ed? {Ed001's Note - it is paid in Euros, the fee is 13m, which is currently about 10.9m in pounds but could change before the deal is completed, the 13m Euros fee won't though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He's in the bag. he wud not ask per and then tail arsenal all the way and then join chelsea. Utd and city have not made and inquiry for him. Arsenal are the 3rd best team right now. adding him is adding depth as cover for RVP and a left winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Besides podolski has previously stated its not all about the money with him but the development of his career

Agree0 Disagree0

bbc saying no deal done regards podolski but talks ongoing,looking likely
big dickey

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Indeed, claims £10.9m fee and £100k a week wages in a 4 year deal.

Hopefully a sign of ambition...

Now just need to secure Champions League football, sign a couple more players, give RVP whatever he wants and BOOM! We've won the league :)

Hi just wanted to know that there are other alternatives to Gotze. I mean I know he's a wonderful player with great talent and if Arsene decides to go and get him then I would be very happy but there are cheaper alternatives who are very good. For example I'm a big fan of Alan Dzagoev. His contract runs out this january and will be availbale for as much as £10 million I think. Also Andriy Yarmalenko, This guy does have it all, pace, vision and can play anywhere alon the midfield & up front. Also Arsenal are in contact with Koln but no fee has been agreed between the two clubs

Islington Gooner {Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this past year including sending a contingent to watch him play in Moscow back last summer.}

Mertesacker on podolski:

"He has been very interested in the past few weeks, and has sent me a number of text messages," Mertesacker said to Sky on Wednesday.

"I've told him that this is a great place to work and that Arsenal are an amazing club."

Whats interesting is that many 'sources' are claiming he has agreed a £100,000 a week contract inc. bonuses and add on's probably but this isnt in line with our wage structure. Does this signal a change in philosophy slightly hmmm..
Eman. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps euro not £.}
