RVP to Inter. £34m done deal. Heard it here first. Old Football manager works at Arsenal and confirmed this deal had gone through and will be announced before the Euros. Sad day

Believable3 Unbelievable10

LOOOOOOLLLLLLLL

You Spuds are funny.

=Miss Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is true spurs fans are a funny lot

RG

Agree0 Disagree0

Sad day indeed for all spurs fans when rvp stays

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats good money!

Agree0 Disagree0

Done deal? You sound like a classic spuds fan! perhaps on drugs..

Agree0 Disagree0

Do one spud boy!!

Agree0 Disagree0

We wouldn't get that sort of money because of his age and 1 year left on his contract

Agree0 Disagree0

I very much doubt it- but 34mil for a player nearly 30 and 1 year left on his contract would be a decent price, but unlikely to be true anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Old Football manager works at Arsenal and confirmed this deal"

By this, I'd assume you mean Liam Brady? Well that would be funny considering he does nothing in regard to negotiations and knows as much about me, RE: RvP's contract scenario.

=M.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha. That rumor was started by a 14yr old on twitter. Stop all these ITK nonsense. Rvp wont go to inter. U heard it here for the last time

Funny as. You will be s**t next season without modric and Tom balely.

Eds and posters, has there been any official interest or solid sources regarding m'vila. As far as I can see it looks like someone on twitter trying to stir rumours and then others exploited it. Seems very strange...
Harry

Believable3 Unbelievable4

French newspaper Le Parisien ran the story today. The writer Lauren Juliens spoke about it on talksport (it's on their website). Daily Mail is currently running the story.

So, yes, there's quite a few sources...

Hi Ed
Will City just carry on spending at the rate they've done in previous seasons on signings and can they sustain it.

Manchester City 2006-11
£531,670,000 Purchase gross (monolopy)
£112,800,000 Sold
£83,774,000 Avg per season

Arsenal 2006-11
£85,150,000 Purchase gross
£116,500,000 Sold
£31,350,000 Net (made)
-£6,270,000 Avg per season (Minus) {Ed025's Note - yes

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Ed your one word for such a long post (yes) without any qualifiers is really funny :)

Does financial fairplay not come in this season or has Platini been bribed to drop it?

Podolski is a fantastic signing. M'Vila would be too. 25 mil for two qualities players is great. But we need Vertonghen. Considering our injury problems I wouldn't mind having 3 quality CBs. Vertonghens still quite young and is quality but if he goes to spurs then they will have a solid back 4. For 7 mil we MUST buy him. Only other player i think we need is another LB. gibbs is good but injury prone and santos is woeful.

BW

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Totally agree with you. Gibbs will always be injury prone & Santos was a panic buy from the summer transfer window fiasco. I would go for Baines, but I doubt it would happen! We have so much deadwood to get rid of 1st & some of them are out on loan..

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not that vertongen doesnt want arsenal. but sometimes play time does matter. spurs will offer him a starting position and salary...we cant do both. besides. i think vertongen will be a late arrival to whichever club. pending champions league final results and our standing and spurs standing.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have 3 quality central defenders : TV5, LK6 and PM4. Also we have Djouro for 4 choice and young defenders like Miquel and Bartley. So why do we need him again ?

Agree0 Disagree0

And I say it again becoz as touted by many gibbs is "injury prone" and santos "woeful" and djourou is s**t and bartley is nowhere ready. He does not have a future at arsenal Have you seen him play? His anticipation and awareness is pathetic.. With miqule you will challenge the elites? Dream

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont forget Vert can also play LB so would solve all them issues in 1 hit. Thats why we need him, also i feel that TV is slipping up a bit recently and could use a little extra competition to push him a little harder.

My Belief and understanding tells me that Arsenal have secured the signing of Yan M'Villa last Friday for £18 million and he has done a medical on Sunday. The reason they are waiting is to tell the fans on the last game when we get 3rd to achieve double success. Although, I think Song will be sold this season to an Italian team so M'Villa will take his place. Onto that I think RVP will sign a 3 year contract as he wants to win silverware at Arsenal.

Finally, I have intresting news regarding that Podolski wants to bring another german to Arsenal, off his twitter feed

Believable10 Unbelievable9

Song will not be sold. I'll say again, he will be given a well deserved new contract in the summer.

I'm not sure how you heard this on Podolski's twitter account, considering he doesn't have one, you have achieved quite a task my friend.

We're starting to look beefy.

Anyone know when the away kit is out and what it'll look like? I'm hearing that its purple? True?

Ben

Believable13 Unbelievable4

I'm think it's going to be red and black striped with gold writing, I've seen photos of it with our new home shirt so i'm pretty sure it's genuine, looks pretty nice to be honest.

Ben X.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think its actually Red and Navy Blue striped as Blue has a history of being an Arsenal color of old. I have seen the photos as well and think they look pretty brilliant.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has warned the club's supporters to be patient before he resumes his summer spending spree.

Wenger has already snapped up Germany striker Lukas Podolski and is looking to further strengthen his side. But he told fans at the weekend that he is still weighing up his options.
The Frenchman said: "We wanted to get at least one of our transfer targets sorted out early and we are pleased to have achieved it [with Podolksi].
"The next phase of our 'signings' will be to take care of our injured players and make sure they are back for the start of next season.
"I am thinking of players like Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby and Per Mertesacker - when these guys are fit we have quite a big squad and before we can buy again we have to assess how many players we have."

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Copied and pasted word for word from Talksport.

Still think we should buy a left back for cover, all we have is Gibbs & Santos.

Mabye wait till after the Euro's to see if anyone stands out.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's being sold with juve top of the list, if RVP left, for city, I'd take him as p/e- and a little cash!

Just a sort of shot in the dark thought, but what about getting dzeko as RVP's backup? Doubt city are opposed to selling him, he puts the ball in the back of the net and has been successful as a lone striker or pairing up with someone. Obviously I don't know his wages, which could be a sticking point, and I doubt Wenger's interested but there's a possibility of a cut price deal as he's surplus to their needs, and I think he's a good player

Inquisitive gooner

Believable8 Unbelievable13

Big fella, big price tag, even bigger wages. He's a 1 goal every 2 game kind of striker. We got Poldi for 10m, I think City will want at least 20m for Dzeko.

Now Man U are linked with him.

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Don't disagree this is true on BBC they're putting in last minute bid

Agree0 Disagree0

I've seen he's been quoted as saying the sp**s are his preferred destination... disappointing obviously but it will probably come down to a club matching Ajax's asking price first off.
I still think we have a chance of doing this (10mil seems quite reasonable) and agreeing personal terms too.
We have much more to offer than that other north london team.

"Manchester City consider Belhanda as Hazard alternative" you've got to be kidding me!

Believable11 Unbelievable4

This is true read this, this morning

Agree0 Disagree0

Because every time we decide a young player is good, man city knew they can buy them without any kind of problem financially.

Same reason they poach our players

Nasri
Toure
Clichy
Adebayor

Possibly RVP (hope to god not)

They know our players have title winning talent, just they need to be complemented with the right players

Bob van persie (robins father) told a dutch newspaper that he think robin will sign a new contract and stay loyal to arsenal for some years then move back to rotterdam to finish his playing career then maybe come back to arsenal as some kind of coach.

Yesterday it was M'Vila. Today it's an 'even more exciting' Brazilian CAM. WTF?

I am trying sooo hard not to get excited. Anything Ed's?

My guess IF true - Jadson, Diego or Hernanes. But could it be Lucas Moura? *prays* :)

StEvE {Ed002's Note - Jadson has just moved back to Brazil so I doubt it. Would Arsenal want the serious grief that goes with Diego - I doubt it. Hernanes - I think that there could be interest in the player at the right price but Lazio may have a figure above £20M in mind which is why Juventus have been put off. Moura - an offer of 35M euros was turned down in January - seems very unlikely.}}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Where are these Brazilian rumblings coming from?

Agree0 Disagree0

Was the 35mil offer from arsenal or another club which was turned down?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed.

Twitter again. M'Vila looks like it will actually happen but I remain sceptical about this Brazilian. Perhaps Honda is Hernanes' replacement.Who knows.

StEvE {Ed007's Note - On Ed002's instructions Steve:

Interestingly Steve it has since been suggested it may be Ganso. This makes some sense but begs a question or two. Santos cannot afford to keep both Ganso and Neymar without serious additional sponsorship they don?t have. They will make Ganso available at the right price but would like him still to be a Santos player at the time of the Olympics. This is all possible of course. However, the player has been blighted by injuries over his short career and would cost upwards of perhaps £20M, so would Arsenal take the risk? I have some things I must be getting on with now but will pose the question of someone who should know the answer and is in Brazil right now. If I hear anything tonight I will let you know. From Ed002 - who had to leave.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Knowing Arsenal they probably would take the risk. Seem to love injury prone players. He is a class act when he plays though. Cheers Ed007 and Ed0002. Look forward to hearing something. Exciting times ahead I hope.

does any one actually want Vertonghen, in fairness I thought a back 4 of sagna kos verm gibbs was pretty solid and I know for a fact vertonghen isnt going to be happy sitting on the bench and vermaelen isnt going to be happy playing LB so what would you rather buying him and upsetting vermaelen or making him unhappy siting on the bench? or buy that utilty RB I forget his name the french one (lol as there arent many) or basically a utitly player that can play RB and LB and CB and doesnt mind not being a starter.

also just for fun if sagna left or what ever reason couldnt get back to his amazing best which RB would you like to see, I know he may be pricey but I quite fancy micah richards
dan

Believable10 Unbelievable2

I agree that he'd be unhappy on the bench, but knowing our back line, someone would be hurt enough to give him plenty of time. A team needs more than 4 starting caliber defenders.

Ypsigooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen we need to give this vertonghen talk a rest because all this spuds talk we all was saying that he will be a great edition i don't believe that he is def going to spuds media do speculate and make stories didn't we here him say he wants to play for arsenal months before so if we should wait and see what the end result is . plus Its pretty rare when arsine talks about interest in a player and he has said that arsenal have been looking at vertonghen so time will tell

Agree0 Disagree0

Well i hope TV didnt advise him to go to Spurs, with friends like that who needs enemy's ! But seriously if we have a chance get him....we have such a fragile squad he will get a run of games at some point and it would TV could move out of the defence when needed........i think TV would make an amazing CDM anyway

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

Vertonghen won't join cos he don't like the new hom shirt!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we could get Ricardo van Rhijn. he's at ajax and 20 years old. van rhijn has impressed at rb when van der wiel has been injured. normally a cantre back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hiroki Sakai would be awesome

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe that debuchy geeza that plays for lille

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard Pavle Ninkov, Tony Jantschke and Garry Bocaly linked to arsenal on the right back front

Agree0 Disagree0

While I agree he won't like being a back up shouldn't we have a squad that can deal with injuries? Isn't this what we have all been asking for? If Kos gets hurt or Verm gets hurt or God forbid both get hurt, wouldn't having Mertesacker and Vert on the ready be a good thing? Don't understand the "we already have too many" arguments. Plus if a player has any ambition or confidence at all he'll think he can push his way onto the first team. Isn't that the point, competition for places?

Our squad next season should look like this:

Keepers: Szczesny, McGregor, Fabianski

Defence: Sagna, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Bartley, Miquel, Djourou, Gibbs, Santos

Midfield: Song, M'Vila, Coquelin, Ramsey, Arteta, Wilshere, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Hoilett

Forwards: RVP, Podolski, Walcott, Campbell, Afobe, Gervinho

Agree0 Disagree0

W12Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Vermaelen and Mertesacker over Kos. Welcome back mate! I assume you've been gone for about a year since you obviously haven't watched a single game this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I fail to comprehend the halfwits that fail to read my comment that these are not 1st & 2nd teams, merely two teams from a squad. As for the comment about Wilshere on the wing, I can assure you that a player of his talent can easily play wide. In any event we dont play true wingers. They are wide midfield players, with a range of functions. As for Rosicky, he is included in my 'others' section. Over the course of the season we will need more than the 22 players I listed. Please think before you comment!

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazingly almost every comment ignores the writers caviat that these are not 1st & 2nd teams. The players he selected would form an excellent squad, with of course Rosicky, etc As for the halfwit who comments that he has been gone for a year & hasnt seen a game, that is simply idiotic beyond belief. He hasnt selected Vermaelen & Merte over Los. He has just made two teams that can be adapted. In fact very few teams have a 1st & 2nd team, particularly the to teams who rotate due to the amount of matches. Get it??

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski... second team.. errrrr no :)

Agree0 Disagree0

So what is the point of this post? If simply to construct two squads out of the players listed on the official website (plus M'villa) it seems like a useless post. Anyone could see that these people are part of the team.
Ypsigooner

Ypsigooner craig gordon doesn't play for arsenal does he

As much as I would like to see Vertonghen in an Arsenal shirt next season it's seems pretty safe to say he is gonna be in a filthy spuds kit instead, quotes have come out today as follows and reported by sky sports news:

"I owe much to Ajax, I have always given my whole heart and soul for them. My appreciation for the club and the fans is great," said Vertonghen, who has encouraged his current employers not to stand in his way.

"It would be terrible if my departure would be a long and distorted situation as Ajax would keep asking for a great price 'till the bone'.

"Of course I want Ajax to become financially better, but the amount Tottenham are willing to pay, maybe with a little bit extra, is very reasonable.

"In a year from now I could leave the club for free. I hope Ajax are aware of it as the situation of Maarten Stekelenburg's transfer was very harsh. He only arrived at the end of pre-season at AS Roma. I want to flow in fluently, directly with the other Spurs players.

"Tottenham is a fantastic traditional club who play football in a way I like.

"Ajax was the perfect club for me, but Spurs will be very close in nearing that already. They buy young, eager and offensive-minded players."

Believable8 Unbelievable14

He prefers Europa league football that's why
He'd get found out in C/League there was hardly a huge queue wanting his services.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently spurs willing to pay more than us, man u and barca!
Another greedy footballer

Agree0 Disagree0

Truth is I don't think we was even in for him in the first place

Agree0 Disagree0

A useful player in the Vermaelen/Koscielny mould. We have 4 CB's, 2 of which are more comfortable on the left. I do not believe we are going for him or we would have agreed. I think the only offer he has is from the Toot & he is waiting to see if any of the big clubs come in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal were never in for him. He however wants to b close to his friend, Vermaelen, hence the move to Spuds

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck for the future Jan.....NOT!

Agree0 Disagree0

These quotes have been taken, from The Telegraaf a well known Pro-Toot paper in Europe...

He already discredited them once, via Twitter. I wonder if he'll do it again.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair I highly doubt arsenal ever really made a move for him. He publicly said he would move to arsenal, arsenal are a bigger and better club the spurs. It stands to reason the offer he was hoping for from us never came in. And who blames Arsene? Kosielny is now first choise cb imo, Vermaelen, Mert, Djourou, Miquel and soon Bartley... don,t you think it,s time ,we brought a propper keeper, because if we all keep ignoring the fact, shezney just isn,t good enough,47 goals in league this season,i,d say 4 of the 8 at old trafford he was culpable for,he,s stuck by him, kept faith and to tell you all the truth i hope boss drops him for west brom.you can wish for all the attacking players in the world but untill he gets a propper keeper we,ll win zilch.who was in goal when we won our last trophies, leman and seaman.

Believable4 Unbelievable33

We havent had a keeper of Shezza™s quality in years and you want him on the bench already. he didn™t have a great game against Norwich but throughout the entire season he has been one of our best players and has kept us in so many games. Your post is ridiculous! He will be our number 1 for years. Its our crappy back up keepers that need replacing. Our number 1 is arguably one of the best keepers in the league.

Wozza

Agree0 Disagree0

Ridiculous post. he is one of the top keepers in the league. not his fault the players in front of him can't defend

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to say but freedom of speech has just taken a big dent by that comment. Shezza is the best keeper we've had since Seaman. Looking at the keeper as the sole reason our goal difference is so short sighted. Our defense this season has been shocking. Porbably due to piss poor coaching and lack of depth in the quad. Two quality CBs just isn't enough to protect the keeper. Sagna cannot play every game playing the way he does and Gibbs isn't experienced enough. Look at the whole defensive team not just the keeper. Shezza is one of our best players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shezza is by far the best keeper we have had since Seaman. The problem is the defense, yeah we have some good potential there but it needs a leader, a Adams, Dixon, Campbell, dare i say it even a Toure... we need a strong leader.

Agree0 Disagree0

You must be actually out your face, shezza has been fantastic this season, one of the reasons we are in 3rd place!

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely 100% spot on. Very brave post but very accurate. He's a decent prospect, nothing else. Prone to horrendous erratic mistakes and seems to be untouchable by the press because he's a fun guy. We need an experienced keeper asap.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to agree I remember not too long ago people wanting rid of Lehman, the keeper who conceded 17 goals in 1 season compared to 47 id say was prety good, I agree Schenzny simply is nowhere near good enough but I think he will be No.1 for a while yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

What tosh! shezzers the best keeper weve had since lehmann , already on a par with him and has the potential to be as good as seamen as hes only really a kid , only joe hart and cech are in his class premiership wise , i think the 47 goals might be summet to do with the defence and holding midfielder who plays more like a striker! hes saved us time and time again

You, my friend, are a moron

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on guys don't be harsh on the guy, he can barely spell so you can't expect him to have any football knowledge!

Story running on Tribal football,

Any thoughts ed's ?Barcelona chiefs have made just SEVEN of their first team squad untouchable for the summer market.

Sport says Barca are prepared to shake-up their roster to help fund major signings for next season.

Victor Valdes, Carles Puyol, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Leo Messi are those off limits for interested clubs. However, interestingly, Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez can be prised away for the right price, along with Dani Alves, Pedro Rodriguez, Ibrahim Afellay, Adriano Correia and Seydou Keita.

Young Barca B graduates Martin Montoya, Oier, Jonathan Dos Santos, Marc Bartra and Marc Muniesa are also being made available as new coach Tito Vilanova doesn't want to work with a blown out squad.Fletch

Believable9 Unbelievable3

I've read it too. If it's true -> Cesc FAIL! LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

The fabregas inclusion doesnt surprise me, maybe they realise how overrated this paceless player who has upset the balance of the Barce team is. {Ed025's Note - sour grapes or what!...i think we all know he is a great player!

Agree0 Disagree0

Under his contract we have first option to buy back

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take him back, defiantly could do with him playing balls through

Agree0 Disagree0

I want Fab back! He wanted trophies, he has them, now come back home!

Ben X.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have him back. better then any playmaker the premier league currently has.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets see if they would swap fab for wallcott

What trophies Ben spanish cup i think and pointless world club think when be went there i think he mean't La liga and c/league

Agree0 Disagree0

Bring Cesc back! along with M'Vila and thank you very much but our wait for a title will be over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surprised at Valdes dont really rate him thought they may have gone for a better keeper this year aswell wonder where Villa fits in there plans
Id happily have Fab come home, he wanted to go home he did he wants to come back he can :) for less that what they paid obviously lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Jack will be a modern version of Cesc, M'Vila and Song both playing will be a modern, physical Arsenal....

If this story is true, go get Alexis....

Poldi RVP Alexis
Jack M'Vila Song

And I would buy Cesc back, for 5 mil less than what they paid...he's had an off season, but let's not forget just how class he is folks

Agree0 Disagree0

Get martin montoya as a back up and eventual replacemant for sagna!! also marc batra is supposedly really good so nab him!! wud't mind afellay or sanchez or pedro at arsenal!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Never heard of this story and haven't seen the article but in the real world this is not going to happen.

Bring cesc back at first chance every time, seriously unlikely though

I read somewhere that $ity's talks with Hazzard have been stalled due to his high wage demands. If $ity can't meet high wage demands then we will have no hope at all of securing him!

Bentschke

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Ha! It'd be hilarious if they COULDN'T match what he wanted.

But I think it's more likely (If that article is true) that they won't offer what he wants, I imagine he's asking a ridiculous amount (like £150-200k) purely on the basis it's city.

D

Agree0 Disagree0

Before the start of this transfer madness, he did say the only English club he would move to was Arsenal. Maybe he's going to turn down everyone who comes in for him until we do... lol, never going to happen though :-(.

Ben X.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think because we were the first and only ones at that time to show an interest over a year ago.

Believable1 Unbelievable30

Agree, but maybe verthogen is better for DM than Vermalen.

And Verthogen isn't coming to Arsenal, either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unstoppable because we'll be playing with 12 men

Agree0 Disagree0

He is saying it would be either song or arteta, so its 11 only

Saw a post earlier regarding player of the season
Hard to look beyond RVP

Best attitude: Arteta a real football fan took a pay cut to leave Everton so he could play C/league football

Most Improved: Koscielny been best defender but get the impression his presence has grown in the dressing room.

Best personalities: Szczesny and Vermaelen

Best Prospect: Chamberlain

Worst performer: Physios Because of Wilshere but also suspect management pushed his recovery to quickly because the position we were once in

Most unnecessary criticism: Walcott and Song have not understood some the posts I've read

Most disappointing signing: Goetze - Because he didn't come and started to believe he was coming around December time. Will be the best Midfielder in the World forget Hazard this is the kid.

Worst posts: Malaga Gooner (but check out the oracle on spursrumours - a right proper donut

Best manager: Moyes for two reasons for limited funds at Everton and allowing Arteta to leave so he could have one last crack at c/league football.

Bergkamp's apprentice

Good luck to all Gooners for Sunday

Believable19 Unbelievable4

Think it must have been mine about koscielny being my player of the season i have always expected rvp would be a machine if injury free. but kos was unexpected i was a big critisizer last year but this year the guys immence him and kompany would be the best cb partnership thats ever been mertesaker was a waste of money way 2 slow for epl not to mention our style of play

Agree0 Disagree0

Mertesaker is a good defender but does not suit are style of defending high up the pitch.
Require pace and ball control for that style.
