What I haven't seen mentioned on here is that dick law is apparently leaving the summer. Our chief negotiator I believe.

Made me wonder when Ian wright was saying how crap he was and is the reason we never got Suarez and missed contract negotiations due to missed flights etc. If that's correct sounds a good change.

Apparently, Marc Overmars is linked with the job, similar to what he does at Ajax.

Steve who are the 3 for you? Stan, arsene and? Can't think who. Saying that I think a huge overhaul is needed.

Well someone has to be held responsible for allowing the contracts of Ozil, Sanchez, Ox and Gibbs down to one year, affecting not only our ability to keep them, but the fees we receive will be lower. Whilst players such as Flamini, Bendtner, Sanogo had long contracts and have been difficult to move on.

That's true Robbie. But surely arsene had an input with those let's say not as good players you Listed. It's also the salary of these players that baffle me.

Hey guys, I've been a silent reader for almost 4 years now, just absorbing and internalising comments and very reliable rumours (thanks eds).
Anyway, we beat United but nobody really seems to care I think it was a great result and good for the players' confidence. Where I come from Arsenal vs United is bigger than Arsenal vs Spurs so it still feels good to beat them. doesn't matter they fielded a weak squad; you don't bring a knife to a gun fight.

To me, if we finish top 4 and win the FA cup we will have achieved more than spurs this season and I think it's only a matter of 1/2 seasons before status quo is restored in North London depending on who we have as our manager, hopefully it's someone who will transform that bunch of lazy divas into warriors.

i don't think arsenal are going to make the top 4.

southampton and stoke away and then everton as the last game.

i know we will win against sunderland, but the others are not a given, with the way the team has been playing.

if we do win in southampton and stoke then yes we will win the other two but i think its a tad optemistic with the way we have been playing all season long.

no fight in the team, players not being rewarded and off the pitch situations like contract negotiations taking 6+ months to resolve. absolute joke.

i still support the team, but a lot has to change.

im behind the manager too regardless of the season, but he has to do something to prove himself, be it in the transfer market, or by making statement contract approvals for our key players. otherwise we are just repeating a 4 year cycle of selling key players and replacing them with good players who take a year or two to bed in and make an impact.

Welcome Gunner254,

I have to agree with Laker, it seems a bridge to far to think we can get into the top four.

I do think liverpool will drop points but I really can't see us getting the maximum points from our remaining games which is a shame because like most Arsenal fans I used to have a lot of confidence going into any game but now we don't know which arsenal will turn up.

I've nothing but respect for Arsen, and I hate to see the level of abuse being aimed at him especially after all he has done, but I honestly do feel his time has come and he should move on, he has created this circus surrounding his future so he alone is accountable.

I think he is to stubborn to admit his philosophy no longer works and Gary Neville hit the nail on the head yesterday when he said word's to this effect "Arsenal lost their leaders and physical approach years ago, but they were still the best footballing team in the league. Now 3 or 4 teams play better football than Arsenal; spurs, liverpool, man city, Chelsea, so arsenal don't even have that anymore"

It's not solely his fault as the players have to take a fair share of criticism also but he's the one who calls the shots so the buck stops with him.

If he does stay which looks increasing likely, this will be the most important transfer window of his career, how he convinces our top players to sign new contracts and also gets top players to join Arsenal is beyond me with or without CL football, as more teams will pay more in wages so it will have to be something special to attract the players we want.

It's now sink or swim time for Arsenal FC, do we finally take are seat at the top table and cement it there for years to come, or do we slip into mid table mediocrity?

Over to you Arsen, wish I had more confidence in saying that.

seema like too many things aren't just working at the Emirates, I also don't see how a top club let's their 'best' players almost go to the end of their contract before starting negotiations. Arsene seems to have lost his ability to motivate players to be their best. He just sits on the bench clutching at his stomach (he may have developed stomach ulcers) , occasionally whispers to Bould, clenches his fists and smiles when we get a goal then goes back to clenching his stomach.

Match of the day 2 described yesterday's games as resembling a pre season friendly and I don't think that was to far off the mark.
Utd weren't really for a fight and i'm not sure we have to much fight in us, we play good football if and when allowed to but if not that's us struggling to make any real impact.

Eds, hello.

Can I ask, how serious is Arsenal's interest in Mbappe? There is suggestion it will happen if Sanchez goes to Bayern. Has a bid gone in for him or is it just paper talk? Surely we can't get him ahead of Real Madrid!?

Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal, like many clubs, see Mbappé as a very good youngster - but the chances of him moving to Arsenal are near zero I am afraid.

Last summer Real Madrid spoke with Monaco regarding Kylian Mbappé about an agreement to possibly recruit him in once their ban is over. A number of clubs have been watching him for some time including Barcelona, Porto, Liverpool, Spurs, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen, Rennes, Marseille and PSG, and this summer might be the time for a move but the sort of money they will be looking for if they agree to sell will be outrageous. Manchester City were rebuffed in August with a very significant offer and more recently Manchester United has had an offer rejected. The sort of figures that one side were quoted would remove most clubs who have looked at him from bidding - including the likes of Barcelona, Spurs, Marseille, Porto, Liverpool, Renne, Bayer Leverkusen and, I suspect, Arsenal - but they do remain keen. Barcelona tried to put a rather creative package together for Monaco and the player but it fell at the first hurdle. Monaco don't want to sell and if someone were to make some deal this summer I would expect it to be one of Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City or Manchester United. The player himself wants to move to Real Madrid.}

Is there any interest in augero? I know he's available in the summer.

Appreciate the reply Ed002.

Is there any interest in anyone up front who can score us goals, or anyone who can defend the midfield? – a question you've probably never heard from an Arsenal fan, ever.

*slowly sobs*

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Lots as I have explained, but Arsenal will continue looking:
Alexander Lacazette (available this summer and at a price which will attract Arsenal but sting (no Champions League could scupper any deal but I expect that he will soon agree a move elsewhere)
Karim Benzema (a difficult time looms for the player and Arsenal will back off - expect him to sign a new deal but be available still)
Carlos Bacca (available but expensive)
Andre Silva (versatile but unlikely to be interested ina move to Arsenal
Ben Brereton)
Kylian Mbappe (won’t be happening)
Gregoire Defrel (Sassuolo forward who Arsenal has returned to look at on several occasions)
Federico Bernardeschi (very unlikely and probable that interest has now gone)
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (close to agree a move elsewhere)
Gabriel Boschilia (not a chance I am afraid – Arsenal had the chance when he was younger – long gone)
Andrea Belotti (high risk and high price)
Keita Balde Diao (if Allegri arrives)
Moussa Dembele (wants guarantees to be a starter and is very, very expensive – a move seems unlikely) Moussa Dembele (wants guarantees to be a starter and is very, very expensive given his lack of experience – a move seems unlikely)

Is Allegri going to join Arsenal?

Ed002 - I just want to say your insight is incredible, and always interesting to read. I, like a lot of fans, believe the solutions to our clubs player problems to be as simple as playing fifa and forget how difficult it must be in reality. Reading your posts always puts things into perspective. Really appreciated as it makes this website brilliant.

Thanks.
