apparently, and I do say apparently, wenger has said he would never work with a director of football. now, why doesn't that surprise me?

But wenger reasoning for not working with director of football make a lot of sense.

"'A director of football buys the players. When they don't work you (the manager) are guilty for them not playing well. If it works, the director of football has bought well, ' the French coach said.
'I am not against having people to help me buy and sell. I cannot do it all - I am not Superman, but the final decision has to belong to the manager to decide who comes in and who goes out.
'He is responsible for the style of play and the results.
'I have to stand up for the results of the team. It makes sense that the manager makes those decisions.' "

I think that's fair enough to be honest. I believe we need a player ambassador. Some like what real madrid have in zidane, someone to sell the club to the player at a personal level and attract the very top players, Henry would be perfect as he has won it all and truly loves Arsenal

Heaven forbid that we should become less effective in the transfer market.
