I've not posted for years on here, but have been gradually getting back online and have certainly enjoyed it here recently. thanks eds for your contributions.

I know a couple of lads who seem to have good info, and having just attended the game in Gothenburg, suggestions are that Gabriel will be out for a period of time similar to Per. Not great news. I apologise that I don't have any further info in terms of defensive targets, but I have been told that it's looking like a Holding/ Chambers combo for the game against Liverpool. If I get any decent info, I'll post.

I believe they'll do well together, thanks for the info mate.

Thanks for that

But one didn't need to be in the stadium to come to that conclusion.

I don't.

With all due respect, I think they will be like rabbits in the headlights.

Who knows. Maybe they'll do ok. If they aren't relishing the challenge then they're at the wrong club. If I was them I'd be playing my Arse of that game so I can get my break.

I agree Steve.

Ill prefer beilek and holding than monreal at centre back.

Banbury, it was purely to emphasise that there will probably not be a knee jerk reaction from Arsene in pulling the trigger for Mustafi. like a lot of fans are calling for. I know it looked bad, but it was just meant to clarify the apparent length of time he'll be out for.

From what I can gather, there will be no loan deals for either Chambers or Holding as Arsene sees Callum (rightly or wrongly) as a potential leader. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

There was never ever a chance of loaning them out once Per was injured that would be foolish.

Apex I like monreal at cb, but then we are weak at lb with gibbs. So agree reluctantly!

Banbury, Steve, et al, your cynicism is spilling into the realm of comedy. I'm led to suppose that you hawk the site for positive comments, and then, when you find one, you lick your lips, you rub your hands, you relish the thrill of suffocating that rare and beautiful thing - an Arsenal fan's hope - with your premature pessimism. I understand - Arsene's hurt you real bad in the past, and you don't dare to entertain hope for the fear you'll be crushingly disappointed when we finish fourth and win the League Cup, but abject pessimism is not the answer, friends.

It's healthy to be critical - and by God, at times the club, manager and players deserve it - but it's not so healthy to smear each comment, each 'Walcott's goal was decent', each 'Holding looks solid', each 'Let's give Sanogo another chance. ', with your gloopy, and frankly quite tiring, negativity.

Take up squash. Have a nice, hot bath. Throw javelins at a life-size cut-out of our Lord and Saviour, Arsene Wenger. Do what you need to do to get loose. You'll feel better, and I'll feel better for not having to skim-read your bitterness.

Until next time,

Good post Rover - I do notice a gang mentality on posts encouraging other negative posters to share there opinion which is a shame however the biggest shame is that everyone has great differing opinions on formation, players etc that actually makes for great reading. All these different opinions should open up a great debate rather than low body punches to each other.
Theo had a great game - it's a friendly or he's been poor so far. So what, he had a great game.
Our new 2m Centrehalf who will need our backing just like big Tony did will need encouragement/ positivety from us. No one is saying he is our saviour for this season or should start BUT may have to start due to injuries
👍🏼.

Probably the same thing you're having when you post your rumours.

To be clear, my post wasn't an attack. In their right place I value negative opinions as much as positive ones, even if I don't necessarily agree with them. I just think that recently it's gone a bit far.

And Malaga, that one was for comedy value, just, you know, to lighten things up a bit, but whoosh, it went right over your head. It's alright. Doesn't matter.

TBH Rover you've just explained to a T what a lot of us on here are feeling, rather than a rumours and banter page its turned more into a hate and slander page its ridiculous, go and have a look at the other pages and come back here and see if you notice the difference.

Rover, you are very entertaining and I implore you to post more often to help lift the gloom and push Raver further down the page. Got to get that the right way round.

But in fairness to Banbury and Steve, I'd describe them as realists rather than pessimists. The club does a poor job if reinvigorating the fan base each year and after 10 years of underperformance, most of us are tired of it. I think we have regime fatigue.

I love a bit of optimism me, but not to the point of delusion. Yesterday I interviewed a 25 year old Ukrainian girl and I think I dribbled through most of it. She was ridiculously hot but I'm not being negative when I say that marriage at this stage is unlikely, just realistic. That said, if she accepts a position on my staff I will be very positive indeed.

Excellent barn you have just won post of the day. Mind you you didn't have a lot of challengers. Lol.

Roverzton what a load of absolute tripe. i'm actually one of the few who have been positive on walcott, find me a post in the search where I havent. I also defended sanogo last year when otger people were slagging him off and find a post where I have said anything other than positive for holding. don't point the finger with absolute tripe. At least tell the truth.

25.) 09 Aug 2016

The Barn, thank you kindly. I prefer to see both sides of things, and I agree that unquestioning optimism feels insipid and it's altogether pretty feeble. I take your point that they're realists, or attempt to display more grounded opinions, and I think that some comments are good, valid points, but when the realist takes every opportunity to hammer home his realistic take, when he clubs you over the head with his realism, when he whispers in your ear 'No chance, I knew we'd bottle it', or 'Wenger's done it again, just like last time', when their realism focuses largely on what's wrong rather than what's right, then I think they become more than just realists, they become negative.

Steve, I have noticed your knack of taking what someone has said, or in this case their username, and misspelling it in the hope that it discredits them. It's a touch silly, don't you think? I don't think it's necessary. Those weren't intended to be specific examples, they were meant to prove a point about how some people on the site tend to manipulate good news, however small, into a grander negative narrative, and how they go about it.

I signed up solely to tell you (not just you, Steve) to just chill out a bit more, because most people who visit this site don't comment, they just read, and there must be a fair few people that're getting a bit sick of it, and they won't sign up, they won't be encouraged to join in, they just won't come back.

Anyway, who's super excited to see Takuma Asano in action this season, amirite? (Don't worry Malaga, that was a joke too)

Roverston there you go again. I don't misspell on purpose to upset people, if you read my posts they are littered with errors, explained many times in previous posts. Re your explanation, you specifically named me and tried to shame me and then accuse me of being somehow disrespectful for misspelling. Sorry I can't take you seriously.

Stuff all your chat, whether it's positive or negative, and move over Dickie Law - the Ukrainian has accepted our job offer. I'm off to get a tan, six pack and some Rohypnol.

Can't wait for a few late nights taking down particulars.
