Interestingly Arsenal topped the charts for shot conversion in the PL season just ended, which leads me to believe that the most important part of the team to improve is the midfield area, which offers so little defensively. In the 4-2-3-1 formation the 3 would appear to be the major problem area, as the likes of Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, etc are simply not good enough. Reports suggest that we are looking to sign a wide attacking player and a box to box midfield player, which would improve this section of the team. Of course we all realise the defence needs improving. However, we should have Bellerin and Holding back from injury. A centre back is being sought, I would like to see us sign a more traditional player such as Dunk, who would be a decent player to have, particularly in tough away PL matches.

Iwobi seems to help a lot on defence and leads the press well. Where he suffers is final third decision making. Good squad player who made progress this year.

The main issue is more a positional problem and awareness of where attackers are. Agree that the midfield has been terrible at covering but then we were dealing with Mustafi, so.

RG, I have been saying this all season, that the midfield has to hold half the flack for our defensive frailties. IT so unbalanced with players like Xhaka, iwobi, element and micki. They give no cover to the defence, especially the fullbacks.

For me the midfield needs rebuilding.

Im sorry RG but this is ridiculous. Where are you getting these so called reports. You list the problems over and over, you got no answers and the name that keeps popping up is Lewis Dunk. Clueless fans. Maybe stop talking to toby. Please tell me he's handing you all these dossiers of noncence but with a hilighted pen "Lewis Dunk".

@Jack_Wolfskin. The reason for repetition is that I try to encourage intelligent responses to my comments. I have yet to have one response to my suggestion of signing Dunk. What is your opinion of Dunk? Is he top four quality? Does he have the necessary passing skills at the top level, etc?

So, instead of whinging, why not respond constructively to my comment? There is another person, who shall remain nameless, that makes similar comments such as yours, I suggest he too engages his grey matter and comments on the contents of my comment, or if it is not of interest then simply ignore it.

Wow I'm intrigued RG, who is this nameless person who casts doubts about your sauces and repeated claims of self importance and repeated self endorsements?
How could anyone not take you or your comments seriously?
Some people just have no imagination do they mate :-)

Agree with all comments about RG.

Nonsensical comments with nothing to back them up; this is not a great way of promoting debate, especially as your conversation is far from intelligent.

G62 If the cap fits then wear it.
I could criticise your spelling, 'sauces' really? Try sources, unless of course you really mean ketchup?
For fear of repeating myself, I would far prefer to hear either of you give a sensible, intelligent appraisal of Dunk, opposed to unintelligent, ignorant personal attacks.
We have recently been linked with Walter Kannemann and I fully admit that I know precious little about the player, other than what I have read on the internet. What are your thoughts on signing a player who is in his 29th year and is another centre back who is barely 6ft tall?

Am I correct in my assumption that we should sign a taller "English-style" centre back, particularly for the domestic matches?
I am aware that the pair of you are intellectually and educationally limited, so prove me wrong, cease making inane, childish, personal comments. Surprise us all with a balanced, creative opinion on the contents of my posts. Yet again, I have nor seen one comment about Dunk, which comes as no surprise.

Skywalker - It's interesting that the three of you appear challenged by my comments. Comments are intended to be thought provoking and are intended to create opinion and educated debate. Malaga-Gooner makes a sensible comment, agreeing with what I have said. If he disagreed and made a case against what I commented, I would have had no problem and may have learnt from the contents.
Let's see if any of you there can provide a comment on the potential signing of Lewis Dunk and whilst you are at it on the latest rumour regarding signing Walter Kannemann?

I would suggest in future that if you don't like my comments then simply ignore them, opposed to making inaccurate and rude, personal comments.
The most comical of which, was when I was accused of writing like a newspaper columnist, which I took as a compliment!

According to all suaces a wise philosopher once said " a man who needs to agree himself and his own posts multiple times a day is a needy man who should drop the need to impress in the pursuit of being well thought of by others and simply try being himself for a change where he might find all he hoped Just through turning up as himself for a change "

A little saucy but meant kindly believe it or not.

Personally, I don't see Dunk or a taller CB as a solution to any pressing problems we have. Without looking it up, it felt like we were surprisingly decent at corners this season. Its positional awareness, getting caught in possession etc that was the main problem, and that's partly formation, tactics, midfield, and FB/ WBs.

For me, Sokratis is our guaranteed starter, with Holding an able understudy who should be trusted to step up at any time, perhaps from the start of the season, but more likely backup to Kos. It then depends on plans for Mavropanos, Monreal, Mustafi, Bielik, Chambers. I'd only buy a CB that would be better than Sok and if we plan on playing back 3, otherwise I'd rather the team spent the money on treats and nibbles to encourage the players for a summer of relentless positional and defensive training. :)

I wouldn't take anything Gunner62 says seriously. He was the guy the other day saying if there was a spare premier league trophy at anfield on the last day of the season, they should give it to Liverpool for having a good season 😂😂.
