Hi Ed's, have used the search function and not been able to find anything on Yacine Brahimi. What do you make of the latest rumours about us opening negotiations? Being a free agent it seems a good deal for us (depending on his wage demands) , and at 29 gives us a couple years to progress some of the youngsters, Nelson, Smith-Rowe, Saka etc. and to focus our limited funds on the defensive problems.

{Ed002's Note - Brahimi is a LW and will not resolve Arsenal's need. I don't know what the reports say although folks seem to think Arsenal are talking directly with the player - which I very much doubt as he is in Africa.}

Thanks Ed, I have been watching the AFCON tournament on EuroSport and it’s interesting to see that he has only featured for 15 minutes over 2 games so far, for a player who was highly rated across Europe only a couple years ago, he has now lost his starting berth to Belaili (in all respect to him and the league) who plays at the Tunisian top flight level.

Ed sky sports news are reporting that we have made an offer to palace for Zaha. I know what you have previously said about him but do you now have updated information or expectations that we will sign him?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal can sign him if they make an appropriate offer and try not to make themselves anymore of a laughing stock.}

I don’t get why we do this Ed. Do you expect a further bid from arsenal? I know that we are struggling to sell players.

{Ed002's Note - I really can only guess at such matters.}

I used to always think when Arsene and George did bid 50% of a players value it was so they could say we tried to spend but didn't get the players we wanted as an excuse for not spending at all, I'm lost to our reasoning now days but whatever it is it is embarrassing.
It's like putting in a bid for a mansion based on the money you hope to receive from the sale of your 2 berth caravan.

We’ve always been cheap - bid low, sign at end of window to save wages, sell first, wait a season to save a pound. manager changes but culture doesn’t.

Very very true SY, actually Bruce Rioch was the only manager I can remember breaking that mould, he signed our biggest and best singing ever in Bergkamp plus David platt who was a big name at the time and didn't he sign Overmars too?
In his short tender Bruce did push the boat our like no one else has.

Apparently we also made a £50m offer for Harry Maguire as well. We're a laughing stock.

I think the £40M bid for Zaha was shrewd. Despite CP's £80M-£100M valuation on the player, his actual value is probably more around that £40-£55M valuation.

He's an Arsenal fan, so maybe they are hoping the player now hands in a transfer request and tries to force the move.
