David Ornstein reporting that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Lille for Pepe and should be completed within the next 24 hours and that Pepe turned down the initial offering from Napoli.

I know there have been a couple of replies on these pages saying that Pepe won't be moving to Arsenal but this seems to be a big development if true.

Can the Eds shed any light on this?

{Ed002's Note - Nope. I know nothing of it being “done in the next 24 hours”.}

I think Pepe is our first choice for this position. If he decides to go elsewhere we will turn our attention to Zaha. Everton Soares is our third choice.

But is there any truth that we are in pole position to sign after agreeing to pay 72 mil in installments. Throughout the summer we've put zaha as the primary target, do you see any one of the two playing for arsenal next season? please shed any info you have on this, thanks a lot.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about "pole position" - I have no idea what that means. I have answered numerous times about the interest in both players.}

Sorry to bother you Ed2, your last post on Pepe states clearly: "{Ed002's Note - You can easily search to find the answer. Pepe will not be moving to Arsenal. }"

It's still the same as far as your concerned?

{Ed002's Note - Not now Arsenal have decided they can spend next season’s money as well.}

Why are we spending next season money ed.

{Ed002's Note - Surely it is obvious?}

Thanks Ed002. That makes more sense. I suspect this has come out of the meeting in the USA when on tour and Raul came back immediately after. Adds up better.

I don't see why that would be obvious ed. Personally I don't think it's next seasons money. Thought we had more than 45m all along. Just a hunch tho.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean about 45m. I am afraid to say it is next seasons money being spent.}

Oh sorry Ed I meant the media have been lying all along that arsenal only have 45m for transfers. I'm aware it's much deeper than that with wages etc. That's a shame but hopefully we can start to progress forward.

No chance the money could have been released from some expected outgoings? Iwobi, miki, ozil maybe?

I agree 16 mate, the 45 million was always a media invention that was bought into as fact.

Nah. Arsenal are sneaky. They released the 45 mil number so that when we pursue a player, their club won’t be looking for stupid money from us.
