Any truth in the report that Auba was looking for a move to Chelsea last winter Eds?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, when Chelsea were seeking an additional striker in January (at which time Giroud was leaving) there was a discussion about Aubamayangadingdong but Chelsea did not see value in the requested wages.}

Very interesting Ed,
Are you privy to what type of wages the player and his representatives were looking for back then?
I’m just curious because reports this morning are that we are offering a 3 year 250,000 per week contract. If Ozil was not on the contract he is I think Auba would accept. However if they naturally want as lucrative a contract as they can get considering it may be his last big one and they see the club paying Ozil that then I would have serious doubts that our reported offer would be enough.

{Ed002's Note - No, just that Chelsea saw no value.}

Ozils wages shouldn't come into the equation, everyone in football knows Mesuts 350k wage offer was one of footballs most crazy decisions made for all the wrong reasons by people who had complely lost touch with reality at the time, and I'm sure all who were involved in offering Mesut that contract back then are embarrassed by thier decision back then.
Offer Auba the going rate for a player of his abilty and not a penny more and if it's not enough cash in and let someone else pay him more.
It's not fantasy football as I think the Mesut Ozil situation has proved and decisions need to be made logically for the greater good rather than emotionally and regretted later.
